to facilitate and increase the flow of capital to initiatives with an
intentional social or environmental purpose and impact

Dedicated research programmes to support field-building activities
Conceptualisation, R&D, and testing of new financing mechanisms and models

Research, comparative assessment and benchmarking of local and global
practices and standards
5. SA REGULATORY RESEARCH OVERVIEW
Supported by the National Treasury and South African Revenue
Services (SARS) in South Africa
Funded by the British High Commission and the United States
Agency for International Development (USAID)
Research objectives:
To identify and explore potential features for an alternative
corporate, financial, legal and taxation policy and regulatory
framework for defined SMEs and high impact businesses in South
Africa
To develop a white paper for submission and consideration by
National government by March 2013
7. THE ROLE OF THE TASK FORCE
Provide insight into the global corporate structures available to
social enterprises
Provide feedback on the research and analysis of the
implementation feasibility of similar structures in South Africa
Participate in the critique of documents
Advocate for the needs of social enterprises and how these can be
addressed through appropriate corporate structures
Comment on key issues affecting the design and application of
dedicated corporate structures for South African social enterprises
