2. Prov 24:7
• “Wisdom is too high for a fool;
he does not open his mouth
in the gate.”
• “Wisdom is too much for
fools! Their advice is no
good.” (CEV)
3. The “gates” of the city
• The “gates ” of the city was the place
where courts of justice or legal tribunals
were held; for administering justice.
• It was the marketplace for business and
bargaining took place.
• It was also the place where public
speeches were made (eg. the king or
prophets), where the Law was read, and
where people assembled.
• It was the centre of public life.
• This was the marketplace.
4. The “wise” and the “foolish”
• The wise were the dominant role-
players at the gates of a city. At the
gates the latest news, currents
thought and wisdom were broadcast.
• It was not the place for silliness,
foolishness, jest and frivolousness.
Ignorant, unintelligent, dim-witted
and stupid people would never get a
platform or hearing at the gates. They
would not be heard.
5. We are that the Voice
• The marketplace is not for dim-wits,
stupid and frivolous believers. These
never make it.
• They cannot contend with the
wisdom of this age. They just
succumb to it.
6. We are that the Voice
• But there is a righteous company who
dispense a new wisdom in the earth.
• They produce a wisdom that is ten times
better.
• They are unafraid to take-on the systems of
the world. They have brevity and stature.
The wisdom of this age does not intimidate
them.
• In fact, they are on a quest to replace the
wisdom of this age with Kingdom wisdom.
7. We are that the Voice
• This generation represents a calibre
of people that have departed from
“foolishness.”
• They are not ignorant Christians
anymore. They are a wise company –
astute and upright morally, skilled in
the Word of the Spirit.
