 The term IOT stands for Internet Of Things.
 It can be defined as interconnection between
Individual Indentifiable Embedded Computing
Apparatus in accessible Internet Infrastructure.
 IOT connects various Devices and Transportations
through Internet and Electronic Sensors.
 Helps to improve Quality of business services and
reduces need of human intervention.

 To increase food production by 70% to 80% by 2050.
 Farmers should be equipped with innovative tools and
techniques by using IOT , Big Data and other expert systems.
 Saving fertilizers and chemical crop protection agents.
 Boosting soil fertility by using Smart Irrigation.
 Controlling crop state and preventing its loss when stored.

 In this IOT model sensors can be deployed in the
farm – to the Ground , in Water , in vehicles etc.
to collect data.
 Collected data is transferred to application server
using Wi-Fi , Sig-fox and other IOT devices.
 The collected data is stored on Application Server
and accessed by farmer via Internet or Mobile
phone.
 In this System, based on Soil type water will
be provided to agriculture field.
 This type of technique is driven by ON/OFF
schedule using electrical power.
 In Agriculture there are 2 things
namely – 1] Moisture content of Soil
2] Fertility of Soil.
 For this purpose we have used sensors as
shown in figure. Soil Moisture

 Soil Moisture Sensor is used to detect
soil moisture content.
 The information received from sensor is sent to the
database for further processing in control section.
 The system is automatically activated when the soil
moisture is low.
 This sensor is widely used in agriculture , Land
irrigation and Botanical Gardening.
Application of IOT in Smart Agriculture

 Passive Infrared Sensor (PIR) is an electronic sensor that
measures the Infrared radiation emitted from an object.
 Detected radiation are converted into electrical charge
which is fed to an external circuit for further triggering.
 It is used to detect movement of people , animals or
other objects in the field.
 PIR sensors are commonly used in Security alarms and
Automatic lighting applications .
Application of IOT in Smart Agriculture
 Arduino – one of the most widely used MicroController.
 Both Soil Moisture Sensor and PIR Sensor are connected
to Arduino to perform their actions.
 Arduino will send data to the database using Ethernet
shield and it also send message to user by using device
called GSM Module.
 It involves wide range of applications like Security, Home
Appliances, Remote Sensors and Industrial Automations.

 Better monitoring of crops and avoiding crops losses
through disease.
 Saves cost by effectively using inputs.
 Helps in optimizing water use.
 Better planning for farm activities.
 High quality Crop production.

 The Cost of Equipment required for the System.
 Need of wider Internet coverage.
To succesfully deploy smart agriculture system ,we have to set up a
Communication network that can integrate limited number of sensors
across large area.
 Need for each Soil type is Calibrated.
Calibration means establishing relationship between given soil test value and
yield responses from adding nutrient to soil as fertilizer. To determine
amount of fertilizer phosphorus needed at various soil levels.

  • 4.  The term IOT stands for Internet Of Things.  It can be defined as interconnection between Individual Indentifiable Embedded Computing Apparatus in accessible Internet Infrastructure.  IOT connects various Devices and Transportations through Internet and Electronic Sensors.  Helps to improve Quality of business services and reduces need of human intervention. 4/16Application of IOT in Smart Agriculture
  • 5.  To increase food production by 70% to 80% by 2050.  Farmers should be equipped with innovative tools and techniques by using IOT , Big Data and other expert systems.  Saving fertilizers and chemical crop protection agents.  Boosting soil fertility by using Smart Irrigation.  Controlling crop state and preventing its loss when stored. 5/16Application of IOT in Smart Agriculture
  • 6. 6/16Application of IOT in Smart Agriculture  In this IOT model sensors can be deployed in the farm – to the Ground , in Water , in vehicles etc. to collect data.  Collected data is transferred to application server using Wi-Fi , Sig-fox and other IOT devices.  The collected data is stored on Application Server and accessed by farmer via Internet or Mobile phone.
  • 7.  In this System, based on Soil type water will be provided to agriculture field.  This type of technique is driven by ON/OFF schedule using electrical power.  In Agriculture there are 2 things namely – 1] Moisture content of Soil 2] Fertility of Soil.  For this purpose we have used sensors as shown in figure.   • 8. 8/16  Soil Moisture Sensor is used to detect soil moisture content.  The information received from sensor is sent to the database for further processing in control section.  The system is automatically activated when the soil moisture is low.  This sensor is widely used in agriculture , Land irrigation and Botanical Gardening.   • 9. 9/16  Passive Infrared Sensor (PIR) is an electronic sensor that measures the Infrared radiation emitted from an object.  Detected radiation are converted into electrical charge which is fed to an external circuit for further triggering.  It is used to detect movement of people , animals or other objects in the field.  PIR sensors are commonly used in Security alarms and Automatic lighting applications .   • 10.  Arduino – one of the most widely used MicroController.  Both Soil Moisture Sensor and PIR Sensor are connected to Arduino to perform their actions.  Arduino will send data to the database using Ethernet shield and it also send message to user by using device called GSM Module.  It involves wide range of applications like Security, Home Appliances, Remote Sensors and Industrial Automations. 10/16Application of IOT in Smart Agriculture

  • 13.  The Cost of Equipment required for the System.  Need of wider Internet coverage. To succesfully deploy smart agriculture system ,we have to set up a Communication network that can integrate limited number of sensors across large area.  Need for each Soil type is Calibrated. Calibration means establishing relationship between given soil test value and yield responses from adding nutrient to soil as fertilizer.
