2. HOME AND NEWS
The first two pages on Jason Mraz’s website are Home
and News. These two hold the most important
information, based on Mraz and what he is up to. First
impressions on an artists website is the most important
as it attracts fans to look through the website and even
buy something from the store. On the Home page the
first thing you see is that Jason Mraz is up for an award,
encouraging people to vote for him. This is a way of
getting publicity for the artist to make them more
popular therefore resulting in them winning awards. On
the news page it is basically just things that have gone on
in Jason’s career e.g. it allows you to see what happened
backstage on one of Jason’s music videos. It really just
keeps the fans updated and interested.
3. JOURNAL AND TOUR
Both the Journal and Tour allows the fans to keep up
to date with where Mraz is playing and what he is up
to etc. Again it keeps them interested in him, and it
encourages people to buy tickets to go and see him.
Basically it is all about making profit and by using
multimedia, it allows Mraz to reach a wider target
audience therefore making more profit. The Journal
also enables Mraz to become personal with his fans.
His fans will believe he is talking to them and they
will feel inclined to continue to follow his every
move. This is how you get a fan base.
4. MEDIA AND STORE
As I said before multimedia is used to
attracts a broader fan base. By updating
people of what Mraz is doing with photo’s
and video’s it keep the fans interested. The
store is basically just for fans who want to
buy merchandise related to Jason Mraz but
the Media category is used to post all of the
most popular videos and photo’s to do with
Mraz. This again makes the website more
personal as it appears to the fan base that
Mraz is posting everything for them, when it
is probably someone working for him.
5. FRIENDS AND
FOUNDATION
Friends and foundation are the last
categories on Mraz’s website. They are not
really about him but are about charities or
other artists he works with and supports.
This portrays an image to his fans that he is
caring and that he donates and works for
charity so this also helps maintain a healthy
image in the public eye. People admire what
he does to help others and this also attracts
more fans who are interested in charity work
etc. However, the website is purely to keep
Jason in the public eye, so to Mraz’s music
label etc. it is Jason Mraz’s image that
matters the most.
