2. In some cases it’s good to switch it up. Try making food from
different cultures. You will never know if you like something
until you try it. Worse case scenario you throw it out but at
least you tried something new.
In this mini presentation you will learn how to make a Bosnian
dish which is called Vegetarian Pita.
(You don’t have to make a veggie pita you can make pita with all
different stuffings such as hamburger meat…. etc).
3. You will need:
16 ounces of spinach
two 8 ounces of cream cheese
1 1/2 cups of cottage cheese
1 egg
8 cups of flower
2 tablespoons of oil
Salt to taste
little bit of water
Brownie pan
4. Get a large bowl and pour in the
following…
- Flour, a pinch of salt, oil, and a little bit of water
- Mix with water until it is blended but not too sticky
- Can mix with your hands or a spoon
Advice: If the dough mixture gets too sticky add some
flower until it is less sticky.
5. Split dough into half and make them into a round shape
Then lightly spread oil on top (so dough doesn’t dry)
6. Wash and remove stems from spinach
Get a large bowl and put in the following: add egg, cream
cheese, cottage cheese and season mixture with salt to taste.
Then stir all of the items in a large bowl
Remember: you can stuff pita
with anything you want…
anything that sounds good to you.
7. Sprinkle counter with flour
-Then roll out half of the settle dough
until thin (almost transparent)
- Once all the dough is flattened, cut edges of dough
- Then cut dough into 2inch strips
8. - Fill the dough strips with spinach mixture
- Roll until the seal is on the bottom or until spinach mixture is
fully covered with dough
Note: There are are many ways to design pita. You can be creative
just make sure the spinach is covered evenly with the dough
9. - Place strips into a greased (brownie pan)
- Continue until pan is full
- Sprinkle with olive oil and bake at 400 degrees for 30-35
minutes or until top is golden brown
10. - Remove from oven, cut into pieces
- May eat with sour cream or Kefir
