2. INTRODUCTION
► Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education is the mode of
education that use information and communications technology to support,
enhance, and optimise the delivery of information. Worldwide research has shown
that ICT can lead to an improved student learning and better teaching methods.
3. Digital Infrastructure Knowledge
Sharing ( DIKSHA)
► DIKSHA is a national platform for school education launched on
September 5th 2017
► It is an initiative in the domain of digital learning by the National Council
for Education Research and Training (NCERT) and the Ministry of Human
Resource Development – MHRD
► It was developed based on the core principles of open architecture,
open access, open licensing diversity, choice and autonomy as outlined
in the Strategy and Approach Paper for the National Teacher Platform.
National Teacher Platform has been branded as DIKSHA. The motto of DIKSHA is
‘our teachers are our heroes’.
4. ► DIKSHA – National Teachers Platform is built to host Open Educational
Resources (OER) and tools for teachers in schools, teacher educators in
Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs) and student teachers in TEIs.
► The aim of this initiative is to help teachers and the students to continue
their studies as usual and ensure holistic learning for both.
► NTP will cater to teachers from all stages of school education including
pre-primary, primary, upper primary, secondary and senior secondary.
► DIKSHA is available for the use of all states and UTs of India. Currently, it
supports 18+ languages and the various curriculum of NCERT, CBSE and
SCERTs across India.
5. DIKSHA e-learning Portal Benefits
► For Teachers
► DIKSHA will serve as National Digital Infrastructure for Teachers. All teachers
across the nation will be equipped with advanced digital technology.
► It is built considering the whole teacher’s life cycle – from the time student
teachers enroll in Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs) to after they retire as
teachers.
► The DIKSH e-learning portal enables the teachers to understand their career
span. From the time they join the school to their retirement, they can map out
their career progression and can work on their skills accordingly.
► It will aid teachers to learn and train themselves for which assessment
resources will be available. It will help teachers to create training content,
profile, in-class resources, assessment aids, news and announcements and
connect with the teacher community
6. ► For Students
► There will be direct interaction between teachers and students.
► Students will be able to understand concepts in an easy and interactive
manner.
► The app or e-learning portal of DIKSHA also facilitates the students to do
quick revisions and test his/her learning through self-assessment
practice exercises.
► For parents
► Parents can follow classroom activities and can clear their doubts
outside school hours through one to one sessions with the teachers. It is
a comprehensive platform for hassle-free interaction of all the
stakeholders involved.
7. National Repository of Open
Educational Resources (NROER)
► NROER is the acronym for “National Repository of Open Educational
Resources.” It was launched to provide a digital learning platform to students on
August 13, 2013. Additionally, it was created by the combined efforts of NCERT
and CEIT under the collaboration of the Department of School Education and the
Ministry of Human Resource Development.
► Furthermore, NROER is a platform hosted by Metastudio, a project of the
Knowledge Labs provided by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science and Education
in Mumbai.
8. Features of NROER
► Resources are readily available in separate pieces rather than in bulk, making
information separation difficult.
► Additional materials that assist resources may be required to contextualise
resources at times.
► The need to research from several sources is reduced because all resources on
any specific topic are available on this single platform.
► The resources uploaded by users to the repository automatically get proper
copyright and licence. This way, the platform saves users from unwanted
breaches or stealing.
9. Objective of NROER
► Developing high-quality instructional materials for students and teachers.
► Encouraging teachers to work together and create new resources.
► Motivate educators to develop contextualised teaching and learning tools.
► Recognise and honour the best techniques in content development.
► Help teachers to take online courses and teach their programmes online.
10. Benefits of NROER
► Students can use the platform to get statistics and information about numerous
aspects of their education. That too in a safe, secure, and simple manner.
► It encourages improved communication among teachers, students, and
educators. Moreover, sharing resources allows everyone to develop their
knowledge and skill base.
► NROER promotes paperless education, which is environmentally friendly.
► The repository is a cost-effective solution for students and teachers to learn.
Additionally, it saves time and money.
11. Tamil Nadu Teachers Platform (TNTP)
► TNTP hosts more than 10,000 E-Leaming Contents, 390 Digital Textbooks, 980+ Interactive
Quizzes and 2000+ aggregated YouTube videos in one place. The content is aligned with the
updated curriculum and is made available class-wise, term-wise, medium-wise, subject-wise
and chapter-wise.
► Teacher professional development, courses on Spoken English and new textbook training are
made available.
► Teachers are encouraged to build a repository of resources that can be shared and utlized
by teachers across the State.
All contributed content is curated by a team and the curated content is added to the
repository Teachers who contribute content to the repository are recognized through digital
certificates sent to their e-mails.

12. KalviTholaikatchi (Television Channel
for Students)
► KalviTholaikatchi is an exclusive education channel which streams
programmes related to state curriculum for teachers and students to
access seamlessly. It encourages student leaming beyond classroom
houns and in the comfort of their homes.
► During the lockdown, to support the secondary students in their exam
preparation, programs for 9th
and 10th
standard students were aired every
half an hour every day.
SMS communication was also sent to all the students regarding the
programs so that they are informed about the programme Schedule.

14. Tamil Nadu VagupparaiNokkin
(Classroom Observation module)
► One of the modules of the TN-EMIS mobile application is the classroom
observation module for Block Resource Teacher Educators This is used to
capture the teacher practices, student leaming levels and other classroom
related data to identify best practices and to improve classroom
experience for the students as well as for the teachers.
► Advantages of TNTP
► . It equips teachers in Tamil Nadu with digital content that is available
through a centralised repository.b. It gives instructors a unique login ID that
is linked to the state syllabus.c. It keeps track of their progress toward
professional excellence.
