To monitor your health at home, check your resting heart rate once a week at the same time and day, such as Saturday morning before getting out of bed. To check your resting heart rate, place your middle and index fingers on your neck or wrist to count beats for 10 seconds and multiply by 6 to get beats per minute. A healthy resting heart rate is between 50-60 beats per minute; see a doctor if your rate is too high or too low.
