Tullamore is located in central Ireland and has a population over 16,000. It has a long history dating back to 1785 when a fire damaged over 100 houses. In 1798, the Grand Canal arrived, linking Tullamore to Dublin. Tullamore is also home to the historic Tullamore Dew distillery, founded in 1829, which used the Grand Canal to transport whiskey and is now the 2nd best selling whiskey in the world. Nearby is the 700-year-old Charleville Castle, one of Ireland's oldest and most haunted castles.
