American football
Football is a team sport known for mixing complex strategies and intense physical
play. Born 100 years ago in the United States as an evolution of English rugby. It is
one of the most competitive contact sports in the United States, Canada and to a
lesser extent Argentina, Mexico and Japan, and it is currently practiced in over 60
countries.2 This sport requires great discipline, physical training and mental
preparation. The greatest manifestation of this competitive sport and media takes
place in the National Football League (NFL), the professional football league in the
United States.
General objective of the game:
American football is played by two teams, so that 11 offensive players one team's
defensive play against 11 other teams. The attacking team tries to get the ball
either by race or by passage toward the end zone and score points and rival. The
defense has to prevent this from happening and try to stop the advance of the
opposing team to the annotation.
The game is for the offensive squad achieved a touchdown (worth six points, plus
1 transformation if performed by chut between sticks, or 2 points if done by play) as
main goal, or field goal (worth 3-point) otherwise. To do so they must move at least
ten yards (9.144 meters) in a maximum of four times or downs. For every ten yards
traveled at least are entitled to four other opportunities to seek the same goal of ten
yards, and so on to carry or bring the ball into the end zone of the opposing team's
field and achieve the annotation.
Starting a game
To decide which team starts attacking and defending what there is a drawing by a
coin, a coin toss, with the presence of one or more players from each team (usually
the captains). The team winning the toss may choose to start the game or for the
start of the second half (declining your choice):
• Designate the team performing the kickoff.
• Designate which side of the field will defend his team.
The losing team will hold its election flown at half the winner is not selected.
The start of a game is marked by long kickoff return and a special teams play in
which a player of the attacking team (the kickoff returner) receives the ball, kicked
before the opponent as far as possible. The returner tries to haul back looking
forward the most yards you can by the race. If presented with the opportunity to try
to reach the end zone at the other end for a touchdown, but commonly is
demolished before it can get. The team that gets the ball begins its attack at the
point where the returner has been demolished.
Down
Means or opportunity down the period from the start of the ball game and the end
of the play. The two basic ways to develop a play in football are with ground
attacks (carrying the ball) and / or with air strikes (throwing passes).
The end of a play is conditioned to different circumstances, being the common
when a pass is unsuccessful (incomplete pass), when the player carrying the ball is
thrown by an opponent within the playing field or when out of it by the bands either
by choice or by being pushed by an opponent.
If a player lands without any opposing player has it down or at least touched, can
get up and continue the play. If one falls and rises before an opposing player
touches it then the play ends because of a down by contact.
