SOCIAL NETWORKS
MONICA ARACELI PACHECO GUTIERREZ
DEFINITION
• The term network, comes from the latin
challenge, and is used to define a structure that
has a particular pattern. There are different
types of networks: computer, electrical, social.
Social networks might be defined as structures
where many people hold different types of
friendly, labor, loving relationships.
EVOLUTION
•Social networks have their beginning in mid-1995, when you create the
Web site classmates.com Randy Conrad. This allows people to
recover or keep in touch with former colleagues from the College,
Institute, University, work, among others.
•In 2002 are web sites promoting networks of circles of friends in line
when the term was used to describe relationships in virtual communities.
•Facebook was originally created to support the University networks,
in 2004, users of the site were required to provide the e-mail addresses
associated with educational institutions. Facebook has subsequently
expanded to include high school students, professionals, and finally all
potential users of the Internet.
ADVANTAGES
AND
DISADVANTAGES
ADVANTAGES
• 1) Can be used in the work, and academic sector for
the exchange of innovative experiences.
• 2) Employers who make use of the networks have
shown a level of efficiency and a successful team work,
consolidating the knowledge management projects.
• 3) Promote participation and collaborative work
between persons, i.e. they allow users to participate in a
project online from anywhere.
DISADVANTAGES
• 1) People with ulterior motives may invade the privacy
of others causing major problems to it. Specialists in
security companies claim it is very easy to obtain
confidential information of its users for hackers.
(2) For some countries • be user of these networks
becomes a threat to national security. This has made
be a prohibition for personnel related to the security of
a country.
• 3) If it is not used correctly can turn into an addiction.

FACEBOOK
It is the social network par excellence, created in 2004
by Mark Zuckerberg and several fellow of Harvard.
Today it has more than 901 million registered users. It
is a fairly comprehensive network, since you can write on
the wall, play, and share photos and videos, among many
other applications. In addition, with their mobile
applications, you receive 200 million daily visits. One of
the most popular and new applications is Branch Out,
a job application. Facebook seeks to constantly
upgrade and integrates new applications or made minor
modifications in your page.
TWITTER
Founded in 2006, this microblogging social
network allows you to share with your followers
of 140-character messages. It has more than
200 million users worldwide. Initially, it was not so
accepted, since it was seen as a status update;
However today its users consider it as
entertaining and fun as Facebook. On Twitter
you can share photos, your location and
participate in topics using hashtags and the
trending topics.
GOOGLE
Google was launched in 2011, by the giant Google.
This social network aims to be Facebook direct
competition, in fact constantly updates comparisons
are made. It works by circles (groups to share) and
has Hangouts (for video chat), messaging and
tracking interests. It has a news section for updates
of the circles. It also lets you integrate with other
Google applications. Today has more than 170
million registered users with 20 million hits a day.
YAHOO
However another service that came out of nowhere and a great bet
of hundreds of millions of dollars that made Yahoo this project
managed to consolidate itself as one of the web sites of 'discovery'
if I may say so there is always that we do a query on any search
engine one of the top results Wikipedia has them; This versus
between yahoo answers and Wikipedia already talked about
before.
Yahoo Answers is a service that allows you to make any type of
questions, according to its category and any other user can answer
this question and others may also qualify and choose the best
answer.
It is undoubtedly the alternative to more casual Wikipedia that exist
today in the market of web services and social networks.
