Personal Narrative: My Father's 95 Silverado
Gravel crunched beneath the tires of my father's '95 Chevy Silverado, the same way it had every
time we drove up the steep, tortuous path to my grandmother's home on Christmas Eve. There she
was waving excitedly, dressed in her floral nightgown and fuzzy slippers as the snow floated
downward around her. She corralled us inside away from the cold. Like I was as light as the
snowflakes just beyond the door, she lifted me up into her arms. I laid my head against her chest as
she guided my father and me into the living room adorned with wreaths and candles. I closed my
eyes and inhaled the aroma of peppermint and freshly baked cookies as my grandmother held me
tight. Lights from the glistening tree illuminated the room in red and green. ... Show more content

She reached over for the LeapFrog books and smiled encouragingly. We were too drowsy to fight
her persistence. I might as well pass time waiting for the rest of the family by appeasing her. She
placed a novel containing volumes of fairy tales into the LeapFrog. Painstakingly, I flipped the first
few pages but to my surprise, it came alive. It was not like any other book I had seen before. Instead
of dull pages filled with monotonous monologue, adventure and color flowed from the stories. It
even came with a stylus that vocalized the sentences when tapped upon. I became so engaged in the
book that before I knew it, I had read through all the stories twice. The excitement of guessing the
word before the stylus brought out my competitive nature. Somewhere between the description of
the stone castle and magical lands Tyler had dozed off, but I was still captivated. When the words
became too difficult to pronounce, Grandmother helped me to sound out each syllable. The words
began to flow and without noticing I was discovering the joy of reading my grandmother

Christmas : Psychological And Sociological Perspectives
Christmas is the annual festival celebrating the birth of Jesus on the 25th December, at least that is
what it began as initially. Since it has expanded into an international phenomenon for consumption,
taking priority over our everyday practices of life (Michel De Certeau, 1980). Our time we spend
divided between work and leisure in accordance to the codes and conventions of society shifts,
Christmas derails these expectations. Yet surprisingly Christmas gains little attention in terms of
social research, despite the fact that it can be explored diversely. The inquiry 'What is Christmas?'
links to multiple aspects of social research. The aspects of Christmas can be subdivided into the
following; religion, commercialism, gift–giving, social relationships, sensualism and mythology.
This essay will analyse these fundamentals of Christmas through both psychological and
sociological perspectives, as the theories among these two social sciences are best suited to the
elements which make up Christmas itself.
As aforementioned, the initial true meaning of Christmas is religion – one that has now been muchly
downplayed. Of course at first glance religion is only an important element of Christmas for those
who are actually religious, for which then religion plays the dominant role of what Christmas is to
them. However, religion means to show obligation to something through faith, it could be argued
that the majority of society is actually religious. We follow a society which has

Personal Narrative: My Trip To The Dominican Republic
When people think of gifts, they often think of something they have received from Christmas or
from a birthday. One of the most special gifts I have ever received was not from a holiday or for a
birthday. My most prized gift was from two little girls, Alexandria and Tatianna, in a different
country. When I went to the Dominican Republic with a big group of people for a mission trip, I
received three colorful bracelets from two of the sweetest girls a few days before we traveled home.
These bracelets were my most prized gift for many reasons.
I went to the Dominican so I could help and reach out to the children along with the others who
went. One of the main reasons why these bracelets are so special and important to me is the simple
fact that the children there are not very fortunate at all and do not have a lot of stuff. The bracelets
they had were the only ones they owned. The girls ran up to me and smiled and hugged me. They
grabbed my arm and put the bracelets on for me. At first I told them to keep them because I did not
want to take from them. They refused to keep them and with all smiles told me to keep them. Thats
what made me happy. Their happiness and willingness to give the bracelets, even though they didn't
have much, was amazing and something I will always remember. ... Show more content on

They all said different words on them, and the words on them were a very important part of that gift
as well. The white one said 'Friend', the red one said 'Love', and the pink one said 'Jesus receives me
in his kingdom', except it was in Spanish. The words on the bracelet mean a lot because it made me
realize that those two girls considered me as their friend. The language barrier was challenging, but
that did not stop the girls from sharing their love and happiness with me while they gave me the

Seasonal Macy's Developing Gifts Case Study
Seasonal Macy's Employees Wrapping Gifts
Macy's seasonal employees must wrap gifts according to Macy's standards. Gifts need to be in
correctly measured wrapping paper, they need to be taped well, and they need to be decorated with a
ribbon or bow. This is important for adult learners in my audience (seasonal employees) because it's
their job to learn and apply what they learned. Overview of instructional design includes

Assessment activities could be formal testing or informal testing. Follow through activities include
providing job aids, promote retention, and encourage transfer of learning. Five activities of

Persuasive Essay About Christmas
What do you bring a King for his birthday?
I think the wise men knew something we didn't. Seriously, when I go to a baby shower I usually
bring diapers, bottles or clothing; not gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Block Quote
"When they saw the star, they were filled with joy! They entered the house and saw the child with
his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests
and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh." ~ Matthew 2:10–11 (NLT)
As a family we go through great lengths to have everything in our home point back to Jesus so that
we don't lose sight for why we celebrate Christmas.
However, this year the Lord has really been working on our hearts in regards to how we give gifts.
Our Tradition of Gift–Giving
Usually weeks leading up to Christmas we spend time as a family sowing into others, serving in
community outreaches, and giving gifts to those God has placed on our hearts.
On Christmas morning there is great peace knowing we have made Christ the focus, given to those
in need and now we can enjoy this time as a family.
We typically start out with communion and prayer before opening gifts. And then our children look
for their gifts wrapped in their special wrapping paper.
As parents we don't overdue it, we keep it simple and that is usually dictated by a budget. But as I've
been studying about the gifts the wise men brought Jesus, I began to consider how we can change
our gift giving so that it too points back to

Essay About My Birthday
Every birthday is supposed to be special and happy right? Wrong. They are for sure memorable, but
not necessarily in a good way. Do you ever have an experience that ruins something that you had
cherished for so long? There have been lots of times in my life that I have been confronted with
situations that changed the way I viewed myself and others, there is one distinct time that I
remember abruptly changing my view, and finally learning some very important messages. On the
particular day that my eyes were opened, my birthday, I had one of the most confusing, irritating,
frustrating days of my life. A day I will remember for as long as I live. Birthdays were an event that
I had so dearly cherished before this one, my 7th birthday, after that, they were ruined forever.
I woke up to "Happy Birthday" accompanied with breakfast in bed, a family tradition. My mom had
asked me earlier that week what I wanted for my birthday breakfast and I had responded with the
obvious, the breakfast that everyone in my family asks for, cinnamon rolls. So skip ahead to the next
morning when I had just woken up was presented with a plate of pancakes... what? I was confused, I
thought, there must be some mistake.
Oh. I guess maybe mom didn't hear me when I said I wanted cinnamon rolls, but how could she not?
And of all things how did she not remember that I'm not even a fan of pancakes. I thought. This start
to my day was not at all what I was hoping for but I kept my head up and ignored the voices

Descriptive Essay About A Birthday
"Daddy's home!" I yelled from the couch in front of the window where I was waiting for him.
I unlocked the front door and ran as fast as I could towards him, embracing him in a hug, "Daddy!"
He knelt down so that his eyes were level with mine and said with a mischievous smile, "I have a
surprise for you in the car."
"What is it? what is it?" I pleaded.
"It's a birthday present, but we have to wait for mommy, 'cause I know she'll want to be there when
you open it."
"Okay," I replied slightly disappointed.
"Let's go inside, it's going to get dark soon."
"Okay, daddy."
He stood up and opened the passenger side door and got a huge box, wrapped in pink wrapping
paper off the seat and took it inside, while I marveled at size of the box and pondering what it could
be.
I stepped inside and closed the door, "Mommy! Daddy got me a present! Did you see it?"
"Yeah, I did! I wonder what it could be," she added with that loving smile that only she could give.
I sat down on the couch, in front of the pile of presents on the coffee table, with the bigger presents
on the floor. In the kitchen I could see a cake with many frosted and colorful flowers on it and a big
number seven candle in the middle.
"Can we do presents now?" I asked with excitement.
"Of course. After all it is your birthday." Said daddy.
I took the smallest one and ripped the wrapping paper off. I smiled widely as I looked down at the
brown–haired Barbie doll and looked at my mom and dad, "Thank you!"

When she was younger, they would decorate the Christmas...
When she was younger, they would decorate the Christmas tree together. There would be Christmas
music playing and cups of warm apple cider. They would argue laughingly over whose topper got
put on the tree. Once all the ornaments had been hung and before the tissue paper and boxes had
been put away, they would sit on the floor around the tree with all of the lights off, just the strands
of white bulbs lighting the space. Gradually, as the years passed, hanging the ornaments became less
and less of an ordeal. One year, no one remembered to make the cider. The next year, there was no
cider and no music. Finally, she was the only one left. She knew that if she didn't step up to the
plate, they might not have had a tree at all, let alone one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were no cookies in the kitchen; none had survived her mother's no–carb purge. Instead, she
put some sesame crackers on a plate, poured a small glass of scotch, and put these on the mantel. It
wasn't milk and cookies like the Christmas Eves of her childhood, but she hoped Santa wouldn't
mind. A small part of her knew that, if he really did exist, he wouldn't mind. In a moment of
childlike fantasy, she set a note next to the plate. "Santa, IOU a dozen homemade chocolate chip
cookies. Excuse the paltry offerings. There's more of each in the kitchen if you'd like. Wake me up if
you get another drink. I'd be glad to join you. Beatrice."
The next morning, she awoke to the sounds of paper ripping. They hadn't even waited for her before
starting to open presents. As she entered the living room, she noted with dismay that the crackers
and glass of scotch were untouched. A small part of her had secretly hoped that her parents would
have taken some of each, like they had in her younger years, as a nod to their previous efforts to
perpetuate her belief in Santa.
Each member of her family had retreated into separate corners of the room to unwrap their gifts. No
one said a word to each other outside of the requisite "thank you" once a gift had been opened. No
one looked at each other and no one saw her begin to cry as she began to unwrap her small pile of
presents.
One by one, as each member of her family finished unwrapping, they left the room, arms

Plan For A Campaign The Right Consultant
To plan for a campaign the right consultant should be hired. The consultant will conduct a feasibility
study to ensure that the organization and prospective donors are ready for the campaign. The
feasibility study looks at all aspects of a campaign. The study will review the campaign timeline and
the plan for each phases of the campaign.
Once the campaign has received the results of the feasibility study the campaign leaders will need to
review the consultant 's suggestions and review any newly acquired information that relates to the
campaign. A task force should be created to revise the campaign's goals, plans and case for support

that the organization has been through in it's planning process for the campaign. It has been decided
that there will be three phases to the project. Different milestones will be tied to each phase of this

The first phase will revolve around planning, the second phase will be connecting with donors and
introducing the project to them and around solicitation, the third phase will revolve the successful

The Characters Of Talents In The Chosen By Chaim Potok
American singer and actress Ethel Waters once said, "We are all gifted. That is our inheritance."
Whenever people think of someone as gifted they tend to think of superpower type qualities. During
the book The Chosen, written by Chaim Potok, it depicts several different characters pertaining
different talents. Characters such as Reuven, Danny, or even Mr. Malter all possess abilities that
help them in life. The types of gifts displayed in the book are not what people usually think of as
special gifts, but a special talent can seem as little as forgiving easily and genuinely care for others
well–being or as big as recalling information at a moments notice. In The Chosen, characters such
as Reuven, Danny, and Mr. Malter all demonstrate certain gifts that they maintain. To begin with,
Reuven Malter demonstrates many of his different types of gifts throughout the story. Two of the
key traits Reuven reveals are the gifts of compassion and the mind for logic. In the beginning of the
book Danny tries to kill Reuven by hitting him with a baseball, however he later comes and
apologizes to him and Reuven forgives him (Potok, 70). Not everyone, when provided with a
chance, will forgive someone who wronged them. Instead of harboring onto his frustrations Reuven
graciously forgives Danny, an act that takes great compassion to fulfill. Another example of
Reuven's gifts in the book is his ability to solve logic problems, "Well, they try to deduce all of
mathematics from

Tips For A Boating Enthusiast Essay
Do you have a boating enthusiast in your family or maybe a friend who relishes sailing? Then
maybe you should be thinking of nautical gifts as a solution for your gift–giving requirements for
them. It seems the ideas for gifts are unbounded when it comes to a boating theme. When probing

web for objects linked to boating shows numerous available presents. Some might be senseless but
some can be really pretty cool. How about a tailored marine telescope? Or maybe an antique
compass that is just splendid to look at? These gifts can be called as a perfect item when it comes to
your sea–fanatic friend who really adores such presents.
Your friend might not be only a boating enthusiast; he might also have furnished his whole house

already in his home? In such a situation, it would be wise to refer the internet. We can definitely say
that gifts related to the ocean are available in profusion online. From seashells to marine telescopes

Comparison Of O. Henry
William Sydney Porter, more commonly known by his pen name O. Henry, was a short story author;
he is well known throughout the world for his clever wordplay and unexpected endings. O. Henry´s
technique to gain inspiration for his writing was by observing and talking to the people he met while
moving around the U.S. His constant travelling occurred due to the loss of his job because he was
accused of embezzlement. O. Henry´s bountiful writing period began in 1902 in New York City,
where he wrote 381 short stories. His trademark is his plot twist endings and his characterization of
the creative ways used to solve difficult situations. ¨Ransom of Red Chief¨, ¨The Purple Dress¨,
¨The Gift of the Magi¨, and ¨The Last Leaf¨ are all short stories written by O. Henry that have many

warwhoop that made Old Hank the Trapper, shiver. That boy had Bill terrorized from the start.¨ The
boy´s capturers, besides Bill, find the boy and his lack of concern for being kidnapped very
amusing. ¨Yes, sir, that boy seemed to be having the time of his life. The fun of camping out in a
cave had made him forget that he was a captive himself. He immediately christened me Snake–eye,
the spy, and announced that, when his braves returned from the warpath, I was to be broiled at the

A Comparison Of The Holidays In Thanksgiving, Christmas...
While holidays have often been criticized as ploys to push consumerism on to the public, they have
also been widely recognized as a reason for families to come together and interact with one another.
These annual interactions often repeated certain behaviors, thus they serve as guidelines for how the
family should operate during future holidays. To gain a better understanding on the connection
between family identity and family rituals, I decided to interview my father on his Thanksgiving,
Christmas and New Year's Eve traditions. During my interview with my father I observed that the
holiday rituals present within his family have contributed largely to the way he perceives his family
identity. Through this paper I will be using content from the interview regarding traditions for
Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve, as well as other academic material to analyze how
holiday traditions contribute to my father's perception of his family identity. To begin, when I asked
my father to describe the essentials to his ideal Thanksgiving, the first thing he mentioned was the
preparation of traditional ethnic foods. He went on to detail foods such as candied yams, macaroni
and cheese and spiraled honey ham. By my father listing these ethnic foods as essential to an ideal
Thanksgiving, it shows us that his ethnicity contributes to the way he believes the family should
function during the holiday. Another detail that he mentioned as important to his ideal Thanksgiving
was the

"We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!" Christmas was always in my mind no
matter what time of year it was. I discovered a couple months back that our close family friends, the
Taylors, could not afford anything to get their children any Christmas presents. I had a prompting to
share this detail with the rest of my family members and we acted upon this news. We decided to
take this opportunity to serve our great family friends, which we owed so much to them for all that
they have done for us. We decided to save our money and that we each would not get more than five
Christmas presents for ourselves. Instead, we would have our Christmas presents be contributed

dollars to help purchase gifts for the Taylor family. They are also close with the Taylors and wanted

As the list was finally finished, the shopping began. I got to travel to many stores with my mother as
we searched for the needed items for the Taylors. I couldn't contain my excitement while we were

Discipleship Research Paper
Introduction Making disciples is the all–encompassing purpose of the church. Many churches do a
tremendous amount of work toward the goal of making disciples, but sometimes it is in an
unhealthy manner. Just as a healthy person is going to have the most positive productivity in life, a
healthy church will also have the most constructive output of discipleship. In this paper, I will
explain how a healthy church is the goal for discipleship. In addition, I will examine my personal
church context and identify the top three areas that I need to focus on to create a healthier body of
Christ. Finally, I will discuss some initials steps that can be made to improve its spiritual health.
The Goal The apostle Paul refers to the church as the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12 says, "For
as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are
one body: so also is Christ." The church is one body and all who are baptized are "one in Christ."
Just as a body can and should be healthy, a church body can and should be healthy as well. Putman
et al. says that a healthy church looks and acts like a healthy body. While studying to be a registered
nurse years ago, I had the opportunity to dive deep into study of the systems of the body. The body
is tremendously complex and each system works with one another to make the body function as a
whole. If one part of the body is suffering, many times it negatively impacts other parts of the body.

Importance Of Internship At Central Park And Theater Project

I also made a digital call for artists to be distributed to schools. I edited the Word file from last year
to update it to the version of this year. I basically paraphrased the sentences, changed the dates &
names, and replaced the images of the official poster and prize–winning works.
I was also assigned a research task for the upcoming Japan Day event. I researched about some

company's Dropbox account.

Use Of Irony In The Gift Of The Magi

Honors English 1
3 October 2014
Everybody loves Christmas. The suspense of not knowing what is under the wrapping paper drives
us absolutely wild. The joy of spending time with family, friends, and your significant other is the
best! But why do loved ones give each other gifts? In O' Henry's short story The Gift of the Magi,
two young lovers sacrifice their own most prized possessions to get the other a Christmas gift.
Ironically, each one gets the other a gift to be used for their prized possession; however, the gifts
cannot be used because they no longer have any use. Author O' Henry uses irony to enhance, or
magnify, the true meaning of Christmas: to selflessly give to someone you love to show your love
for them.

Even though Della and Jim made unwise choices in how to finance their gifts for one another, they
were the wisest in the sense that they sacrificed their own most prized possessions to give to the
other. "And here I have related to you the uneventful chronicle of two foolish children in a flat who
most unwisely sacrificed for each other the greatest treasures of their house." (Page 251) The
narrator claims that Della and Jim unwisely gave up their valuables to display their love for one
another. "But in a last word to the wise of these days, let it be said that of all who gives gifts there
two were the wisest. Of all who give and receive gifts such as they are wisest. Everywhere they are
the wisest. They are the magi." (Page 251) The whole theme of the story is stated here by the
narrator. He alludes to the Magi, or wisemen who bring the best gifts, but the narrator stated that Jim
and Della gave the best gift of all, and they are wiser than the Magi. Besides the fact that Jim and
Della were wise to sacrifice their own prized possessions for each other, the way that they handled
the situation and still loved each other after shows true wisdom. After all, Christmas is about loving

Essay About My Birthday
It was about three days before one of the most important people of my life birthday was here. On
October 1st, it would be my mom's birthday. For the past few years, I haven't had enough money to
buy my mom a gift. So, At the start of a preparing for her birthday, I didn't really plan to do anything
for her birthday. All I was going to do was buy her a present and write a card and give it to her. This
time, with my younger sister's help, I did even more.
On Thursday, My auntie and my sister invited me to come along to the mall so they could go buy
my mom her presents. The place we went to was a sort of an outside mall. I thought this would be
the perfect moment to buy her a special birthday gift. I had $70 in my pocket, so I had enough
money to buy a charm for my mother from pandora. We walked a short distance from where we
parked to the Pandora store. Whilst my sister looked for a charm, I already had the perfect charm in
mind, an October Signature Heart charm. We brought the charms and headed to Rainbows. When
we got there, I help my sister pick out an outfit for my mom. When she finally picked two outfits,

Examples Of Irony In The Gift Of The Magi
The Gift of the Magi
People buy gifts for each other on Christmas as a sign of love. But when you are poor and do not
have a lot, buying things for people may be difficult. Selling things to get money to buy other
people things shows unselfish love. When a poor couple buys each other presents and they don't
have much to offer it shows the true meaning of love. Della and Jim are a young married couple
without much to offer. They both have a strong love for a specific item they possess. "It is the day
before Christmas and Della saved up money for the year and had a total of $1.87" ( " The Gift of the
Magi"2). Through connecting the conflict to the story it brings irony to the conclusion in O. Henry's

much money. It is the day before Christmas, and neither Della nor Jim have gotten each other
anything. "Tomorrow would be Christmas day, she has about $1.87 with which to buy Jim a

are the main characters in "The Gift of the Magi" they are a young married couple with very little

various ironic twists and plots in this story. Della wants to sell her hair even though she loves and

Music Day
Music affects people in various ways. Ones reaction to music differs from person to person. It can
evoke emotions of both joy and happiness. Music can stir up old memories of different times,
places, and people. In the U.S. a major part of life is music, as stated by Natalie Guice Adams and
Pamela J. Bettis, " American institution that can tell us something about ourselves, like jazz,
baseball, and cheerleading, are also not static but being created anew with each generation." (Remix

holiday based on celebrating and enjoying music all over the world. One thing that just about ...

Everyone from popular artists to local bands would hit the stage and play just for the love of music.
Free concerts available in just about every town for everyone to enjoy. This would give people a
chance to go hear their favorite music artists. This opens up the idea of travel on Music Day. People
and their families may want to go see a performer who is far away, and what better way to go on a
small family vacation. I can just hear it now, "Hey Kids pack your bags were going to New York
City for Music day." The key to this aspect of the holiday is for all the concerts to be free of charge,
so that way everyone who wants to has the option to go listen to professional musicians. Whether it
is the symphony, a bluegrass show, a solo pianists, the latest rap artist, or even a heavy metal band
performances would be taking place all day so there is always something for everyone. Parents can
go down to the jazz club, or check out an oldies concert while the kids see the local punk bands
performing just down the block. This event would of course be massive and require a lot of planning
and thought, but a holiday celebrating the joy music brings to our lives is well worth that. Plus
Music Day would be a holiday everyone would look forward to. Going to concerts is fun and
exciting. People pay big bucks to see professionals do their thing on stage and walk away feeling
like they got the best out of their money. The free concerts would be gain public popularity in no

Blankets In First Nation Connotations
Throughout the centuries, the gift of a blanket has been associated with feelings of warmth, respect
and kindness from those giving a blanket towards those receiving it. Our article below covers just a
few of the aspects that come to mind when we give a blanket as a gift or even when we dream about
blankets in a dream or see one in a vision of sorts.
Blankets In First Nation Connotations
Depending on the particular first nation identity, such as Dakota, or even down to specific tribes
within a first nation, the blanket may mean something different from one national identity to
another. Moreover, they may be given during different times for various reasons.
For instance, a respected Teton Sioux elder may choose to wrap a wool blanket around ... Show

In other words, the spirit of the father transfers to the younger who then passes it on to perhaps a
misunderstood child later on in life. Essentially, with the mere laying on of a blanket on their
shoulders or on their backs, an adoption process takes place; moreover, the family and tribe grows
with subsequent members who then become part of the community.
Blanket–Giving In Other Cultures
Once again, depending on the culture in which blankets are given, blankets become talismans and
take on a spiritual dimension especially when worn in some dance ritual. Blankets can symbolize
transitions in life such as weddings, graduations or new additions to a family. They can also mean
legendary events, stories and the culture's heritage.
As such, they express a form of craftsmanship, artistry, history and the represented culture itself.
Blankets can even facilitate travel by transferring the spirits of those who gave them as companions
on a distance journey.
In some South African and Lesotho cultures, blankets mark rites of passage. In certain parts of
China, blankets are among the most cherished gifts that are commonly given. For the Australian and
New Zealand Aboriginals, they believe that the giving of blankets initiates a stream of good dreams

Narrative Essay About Christmas
"Addie wake up!" my little brother Ben beamed as he shakes me awake. "It's Christmas!" he said
excited. I rolled over and laughed tiredly then we went to wake up Anna, our older sister. She barely
opened her eyes to see the clock, 6:43 a.m. glowed bright red in the dark.
"It is too early, we need to wait for Mom and Dad" she said. So we squeezed into her bed and
waited. Soon we were all sound asleep again.
As we wake up, the sun was rising and it was 8 o'clock.
"MOM, DAD, GET UP! It's eight o'clock," we said excited! When we finally were all back
downstairs they said,
"Stay here until we say we're ready" pointing at the end of the hallway. They setup the video camera
and Mom's camera before we could go out. Meanwhile, we carried on a conversation, remembering
that today is Jesus' birthday and how special it is! Christmas is more than just gifts, food and break
from school, it is about the love and happiness we all share and most of all, rejoicing because our
savior has been born!
It was time to see what Santa had brought us! We run down the hall in our new pajamas, and into
the dining room. Three large sacks with our names on them were full. He left us a note saying,
"Hope you all like your gifts! Merry Christmas! Signed Santa Clause" Some don't believe in Santa,
and I don't necessarily believe that the real human Santa exists, but the Santa we all have inside of
us instead. The loving, joyful, giving, laughing, passionate and kind person that lives within us is

Ed Sullivan Fuels the Fire of Beatlemania For me, and children all around, there is no better feeling
than waking up on Christmas morning, running downstairs, and seeing all the presents under the

sweeter. I ran to wake Ryan, Stephen, Mom, and Dad up because I wanted to start opening presents
as soon as possible. I grabbed my air horn and burst into Ryan and Stephen's room and blared the air
horn as loud as it could go.
"What was that for!?" exclaimed Ryan.
"Get up," I said, "It's Christmas!" I bolted downstairs, but only saw one present next to our vibrant

Analytical Essay: Tales Of The Last Two Cities
Tales of the last 2 Cities
Prologue,
900 years ago two Witches, during the time of the witch era, which was real, placed a curse of two
cities giving the people in them the Gifts. One witch, Elizabeth, thought that people didn't need
powers, and wanted only a protection over the city and granted the people the ability to leave. Well,
the other witch, Meredith, wanted these humans to be special beyond compare with Gifts like none
other, but this was so powerful that with the gift the people would be forced to forever live in the
city. The gifts would stay dormant until needed. So, when the Witch's placed the two spells, the
strongest, most powerful spells ever cast, on the cities some of the magic switched between the
cities, causing the gifted city to have humans and the ungifted city to have gifted humans.
But, it wasn't simple the Witch went to war. Ending their friendship. Arguing went on for years and
years about whose idea was the superior. Meredith said, "who wouldn't want to have a gift, such as
the ability to fly. It would help them recreate a destroyed city. Well, Elizabeth said, "The human race
can't handle the powers and shouldn't be left without guidance, proper guidance." Therefore, the war
went on for about 20 years. Then they decided to create both of their ideas in different cities.

The Legend Of Santa Claus
"Mommy! Is Santa Claus coming tomorrow?" The two–year–old child ran up to her mother joyfully
as her two pigtails bounced up and down. "Ugh...your dad...I mean Santa Claus will come and bring
you presents." The mother nervously answered her question. "You promise mommy?" The innocent
child looked up at her mother giving her all of her trust. "Yes, I promise." She broke into a sweat
and her hand began to feel clammy against her bouncing knee. Her conscious begged her not
fabricate any false myths to her young and gullible child. The legend of Santa Claus can be followed
back hundreds of years by a priest named St. Nicholas. And since then, millions of children have
been lied to about a "fat man that comes to one's house to steal cookies and brings people presents."
Parents have argued that telling one's children is not harmful at all. And they are just carrying a
tradition that their parents have passed down to them. It is unbelievable that parents can have the
audacity to look into their children's eyes and tell them that Santa exists, thus from my perspective,
parents should stop lying to their children. Many may wonder why telling their children that a fat
man comes to sneak in their house in the middle of the night to drop off materialistic items is a big
deal. Little did they know that deceiving their children is unhealthy for their mental health.
Psychologist Christopher Boyle and mental health researcher Kathy McKay explain that this is

Essay on The Gutting of Couffignal Analysis
The Gutting of Couffignal is a crime story written by Dashiell Hammet. It is about the robbing and
stealing of bank, Jewelry stores and wedding presents on the island of Couffignal. Couffignal is a
small island connected by a wooden bridge to the mainland. The main street contains bank, hotels,
jewelry stores and other usual stores. The higher part of the road lives the owners and rulers of the
island. One of the rulers, The Henderixson family is having a wedding and they hired a detective to
guard the valuable wedding presents. However, the criminals used various strategies to steal the
presents, but they did not succeed at the end. Consider the opening of the story, the story begins

I was sitting in a secondstory room in Couffignal's largest house." This shows that he must be one of
the characters who are involved in the story, he is not just some story teller who has nothing to do
with the content of the story. Soon in the next paragraph, his identity is introduced, the narrator is
the detective. "Of all the work that comes to a private detective (except divorce work, which the
Continental Detective Agency doesn't handle) I like weddings as little as any." The narrator is the
detective himself and he is hired to protect the wedding presents. Normally, people would think it is
weird to protect the wedding presents, and nobody would pay extra money to hire a detective to
protect their wedding presents. However, it is explained in the previous paragraph that the value of
the presents would add up to something between fifty and a hundred thousand dollars. So this solves
the reader's doubt, since the presents are so valuable, it is reasonable to protect them, and it is
obvious that the extra money paid to the detective has no comparison with the value of these
presents. In paragraph 8, a few other characters are introduced, the admiral and earl from England,
ex–president of a South American country, the Danish baron, Russian princess and general,
ambassador from a Central European country. This paragraph is very important, because the reader
would want to know who are the people involved in the story. By giving a brief

Analysis Of Never Let Me Go
The Asian book Never Let Me Go written by Kazuo Ishiguro takes place in England in the 1990s.
The author shows relations to this book by naming it "Never Let Me Go." I say this because in the
book there is a character who sings a song that is named "Never Let Me Go." The main theme in
this novel is find out who your true friends are and realize not every friendship is going to be
perfect, you will go through struggles just like any other type of relationship. Never Let Me Go
happens in a tragic form generally 1990s England, where the lives of customary nationals are drawn
out through a state–endorsed program of human cloning. The clones, alluded to as understudies,
experience childhood in uncommon organizations far from the outside world. As youthful grown–
ups, they start to give their key organs. All "givers" get their mind from assigned "carers," clones
who have not yet started the gift procedure. The clones keep on donating organs until they "finish,"
which is a code word for death after the gift of three or four organs. Be that as it may, this preface is
not quickly clear to the peruser. Toward the begin of the novel, storyteller Kathy H. only presents
herself as a thirty–one–year–old carer. She has been a carer for almost twelve years, however will
abandon her part in a couple of months. Kathy discloses that she needs to return to her recollections
of Tommy and Ruth, two companions who grew up with her at the Hailsham school. Kathy does not

Exploring Christmas : The True Meaning Of Christmas
Christians celebrate Christmas as the birth of Christ; the rejoicing in the birth of our savior, and His
influence on our lives today. It can also be a time of healing and renewed strength. While looking
back and celebrating the birth of Christ, it should also be a time of looking ahead in preparation
when He will come again. Many people lose sight of this perspective and get entwined in the
worldly trappings of the holidays. They forget there is a spiritual meaning that does not require
boxes and bows, but rather service and love. In our family, this is significant to our religious beliefs
and what my parents hold sacred. The true meaning of Christmas is unconditional love for and
service to others. Three words come to mind when I think about the Christmas season: faith, hope
and love. The faith that there is a divine power who watches over us each and every day. The hope
of a better day today and a greater tomorrow still to come. The love of family and warm friends
preparing a holiday meal and breaking bread with one another. These three emotions are the reasons
this particular time of year fills my heart with such joy. A hope for a sense of awakening religious
traditions and the spiritual realization of the true meaning of Christmas. As you grow up, you learn
that the presents are not the most important aspect of Christmas. Some people cherish when their
family gets together to celebrate, others may enjoy decorating the tree and wrapping presents. It

My Worst Day
I never imagined that my horrible day at work would turn into such an amazing night. I was pretty
upset that I was not going to be able to spend Christmas with my boyfriend of two years Tate and
his mother Penny at their house because both of our family's were having their family Christmas the
same day. So when I got his text it started to turn the night around. I was eager for him to open his
gift from me. Also to see what he had snatched up for me. As I was putting my last resident in to bed
at work as I did every night as a certified nurses aide at Elm Haven East. I felt my cell phone vibrate
in my pocket, instead of looking to see who it was from I finished doing what I need to do in order
to help this lady into bed. When I was done I finally looked at my phone to see why it had vibrated.
Much to my surprise my boyfriend Tate had texted me, asking if I wanted to come over after work
to open Christmas presents with him and his mom Penny. Happy now that I would actually get to
see him before Christmas I eagerly replied, "Yes, I would love too. See you after work". I finished
up work before clocking out. As I punched my time card I smiled with joy, knowing shortly Tate
would be opening his present I was so proud I had bought. I stepped out side to walk to my car, I
saw a white cloud coming out of my mouth as I breathed from the cold, crisp air. I pulled into his
drive way nervous to walk inside. I walked inside, my hands full of presents. I started through the
house to the living room. Penny couldn't help but have a huge smile on her face which made me
even more nervous. Penny never smiled like that. Why was she smiling now? There I stood in the
living room. Penny excitedly told Tate to go get all the presents from them out from under the tree.
While he was gone Penny asked me "Are you excited to open your presents?". The question made
my palms sweaty, I hate surprises so opening presents was defiantly my least favorite thing to do at
Christmas time. Everyone staring at you to see your reaction to the gifts they bought you, I hated
that. Tate finally returned with handful of presents and still hand to go back for more. I just thought
to myself how many presents did they buy? When Tate was done bringing

Santa Clause Personal Statement
I was in third grade when I stopped believing in Santa Clause. As I listened to my classmates
describe the gifts they had received for Christmas, I noticed that my friends from wealthier families
got more presents than my friends from poorer families. After some reflection, I decided that the
only plausible explanation was that money, rather than elves, determined who ended up on the "nice
list." I have always had a strong sense of justice, but over the course of my life it has manifest itself
in different ways. When I was in third grade it led me to give up my belief in Santa Clause; and
when I was in high school it drove me to volunteering with local nonprofits. During my time at

Major Gifts Essay
Securing major gifts is important to almost every organization (Hodge, n.d., p.1). These gifts assist
organizations in ensuring the success of both annual and capital campaigns (Hodge, n.d., p.1). They
not only account for most of the donation to a campaign, but they can also serve as a lead gift,
which gets other people interested in donating to the cause. Without major gifts, organizations
would be doomed, therefore organizations need to ensure that they have the staff, resources, and
training in place to allow for successful solicitations.

After a lot of preparation and practice, I will no longer need the script, and I will be able to approach
the solicitation with confidence.
To enhance my confidence even further, having a relationship with the potential benefactor would
be ideal. At this stage in the relationship, most of my shyness will no longer be evident, as I would
know the potential benefactor very well. After gaining an adequate level of confidence and comfort
to be able to successfully solicit the major gift I would arrange a meeting with the potential
benefactor.
In setting up the meeting, I would be sure to express that the purpose of the meeting is for us to,
"invite their philanthropic support for an important organizational project" (Hodge, n.d., p.12). Also,
the ideal meeting location would either the home of the potential benefactor or the donor's place of
business, whichever potential benefactor is more comfortable with (Hodge, n.d., p.12).
At the meeting, we will begin with casual conversation as a way to show our interest in the potential
benefactor, but to also calm some of my nerves. After a bit of conversation, we will introduce the
reason for the meeting (Dove, n.d., p.11). First, we will clearly explain the project and the benefits
that their support will provide our clients, along with some of our personal stories/commitments that

My Experience Of My Birthdays
Do you ever have an experience that destroys something that you had cherished for so long? There
have been lots of times in my life that I have been confronted with situations that changed the way I

had one of the most confusing, irritating, frustrating, eye–opening days of my life. A day I will

and anticipation in the years prior to my 7th birthday, after that, they were ruined forever.
On this special day, I woke up to breakfast in bed, a family tradition. My mom had asked me earlier
that week what I wanted for my birthday breakfast and I had responded with the same breakfast that
everyone in my family asks for, cinnamon rolls. Skip ahead to the next morning, having just woken
up, being presented with a plate of pancakes... What? I was confused. I thought, There must be some
mistake. I looked around hoping to see another plate with warm gooey rolls of dough smothered in
sugar placed on it. To my dismay, there was not.
Oh. I guess maybe mom didn't hear me when I said I wanted cinnamon rolls, I wondered, but how
could she not have? It's the same breakfast all of us ask for.
This start to my day was not at all what I was expecting, but I convinced myself that it was just an
unimportant

  • 2. Personal Narrative: My Father's 95 Silverado Gravel crunched beneath the tires of my father's '95 Chevy Silverado, the same way it had every time we drove up the steep, tortuous path to my grandmother's home on Christmas Eve. There she was waving excitedly, dressed in her floral nightgown and fuzzy slippers as the snow floated downward around her. She corralled us inside away from the cold. Like I was as light as the snowflakes just beyond the door, she lifted me up into her arms. I laid my head against her chest as she guided my father and me into the living room adorned with wreaths and candles. I closed my eyes and inhaled the aroma of peppermint and freshly baked cookies as my grandmother held me tight. Lights from the glistening tree illuminated the room in red and green. ... I might as well pass time waiting for the rest of the family by appeasing her. She placed a novel containing volumes of fairy tales into the LeapFrog. Painstakingly, I flipped the first few pages but to my surprise, it came alive. It was not like any other book I had seen before. Instead of dull pages filled with monotonous monologue, adventure and color flowed from the stories. It even came with a stylus that vocalized the sentences when tapped upon. I became so engaged in the book that before I knew it, I had read through all the stories twice. The excitement of guessing the word before the stylus brought out my competitive nature. Somewhere between the description of the stone castle and magical lands Tyler had dozed off, but I was still captivated. When the words became too difficult to pronounce, Grandmother helped me to sound out each syllable. The words began to flow and without noticing I was discovering the joy of reading my grandmother ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Christmas : Psychological And Sociological Perspectives Christmas is the annual festival celebrating the birth of Jesus on the 25th December, at least that is what it began as initially. Since it has expanded into an international phenomenon for consumption, taking priority over our everyday practices of life (Michel De Certeau, 1980). Our time we spend divided between work and leisure in accordance to the codes and conventions of society shifts, Christmas derails these expectations. Yet surprisingly Christmas gains little attention in terms of social research, despite the fact that it can be explored diversely. The inquiry 'What is Christmas?' links to multiple aspects of social research. The aspects of Christmas can be subdivided into the following; religion, commercialism, gift–giving, social relationships, sensualism and mythology. This essay will analyse these fundamentals of Christmas through both psychological and sociological perspectives, as the theories among these two social sciences are best suited to the elements which make up Christmas itself. As aforementioned, the initial true meaning of Christmas is religion – one that has now been muchly downplayed. Of course at first glance religion is only an important element of Christmas for those who are actually religious, for which then religion plays the dominant role of what Christmas is to them. However, religion means to show obligation to something through faith, it could be argued that the majority of society is actually religious. We follow a society which has ... • 4. Personal Narrative: My Trip To The Dominican Republic When people think of gifts, they often think of something they have received from Christmas or from a birthday. One of the most special gifts I have ever received was not from a holiday or for a birthday. My most prized gift was from two little girls, Alexandria and Tatianna, in a different country. When I went to the Dominican Republic with a big group of people for a mission trip, I received three colorful bracelets from two of the sweetest girls a few days before we traveled home. These bracelets were my most prized gift for many reasons. I went to the Dominican so I could help and reach out to the children along with the others who went. One of the main reasons why these bracelets are so special and important to me is the simple fact that the children there are not very fortunate at all and do not have a lot of stuff. The bracelets they had were the only ones they owned. The girls ran up to me and smiled and hugged me. They grabbed my arm and put the bracelets on for me. At first I told them to keep them because I did not want to take from them. They refused to keep them and with all smiles told me to keep them. Thats what made me happy. Their happiness and willingness to give the bracelets, even though they didn't have much, was amazing and something I will always remember. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They all said different words on them, and the words on them were a very important part of that gift as well. The white one said 'Friend', the red one said 'Love', and the pink one said 'Jesus receives me in his kingdom', except it was in Spanish. Gifts need to be in correctly measured wrapping paper, they need to be taped well, and they need to be decorated with a ribbon or bow. This is important for adult learners in my audience (seasonal employees) because it's their job to learn and apply what they learned. • 6. Persuasive Essay About Christmas What do you bring a King for his birthday? I think the wise men knew something we didn't. Seriously, when I go to a baby shower I usually bring diapers, bottles or clothing; not gold, frankincense and myrrh. Block Quote "When they saw the star, they were filled with joy! They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh." ~ Matthew 2:10–11 (NLT) As a family we go through great lengths to have everything in our home point back to Jesus so that we don't lose sight for why we celebrate Christmas. However, this year the Lord has really been working on our hearts in regards to how we give gifts. Our Tradition of Gift–Giving Usually weeks leading up to Christmas we spend time as a family sowing into others, serving in community outreaches, and giving gifts to those God has placed on our hearts. On Christmas morning there is great peace knowing we have made Christ the focus, given to those in need and now we can enjoy this time as a family. We typically start out with communion and prayer before opening gifts. And then our children look for their gifts wrapped in their special wrapping paper. As parents we don't overdue it, we keep it simple and that is usually dictated by a budget. But as I've been studying about the gifts the wise men brought Jesus, I began to consider how we can change our gift giving so that it too points back to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Essay About My Birthday Every birthday is supposed to be special and happy right? Wrong. They are for sure memorable, but not necessarily in a good way. Do you ever have an experience that ruins something that you had cherished for so long? There have been lots of times in my life that I have been confronted with situations that changed the way I viewed myself and others, there is one distinct time that I remember abruptly changing my view, and finally learning some very important messages. On the particular day that my eyes were opened, my birthday, I had one of the most confusing, irritating, frustrating days of my life. A day I will remember for as long as I live. Birthdays were an event that I had so dearly cherished before this one, my 7th birthday, after that, they were ruined forever. I woke up to "Happy Birthday" accompanied with breakfast in bed, a family tradition. My mom had asked me earlier that week what I wanted for my birthday breakfast and I had responded with the obvious, the breakfast that everyone in my family asks for, cinnamon rolls. So skip ahead to the next morning when I had just woken up was presented with a plate of pancakes... what? I was confused, I thought, there must be some mistake. Oh. I guess maybe mom didn't hear me when I said I wanted cinnamon rolls, but how could she not? And of all things how did she not remember that I'm not even a fan of pancakes. I thought. • 8. Descriptive Essay About A Birthday "Daddy's home!" I yelled from the couch in front of the window where I was waiting for him. I unlocked the front door and ran as fast as I could towards him, embracing him in a hug, "Daddy!" He knelt down so that his eyes were level with mine and said with a mischievous smile, "I have a surprise for you in the car." "What is it? what is it?" I pleaded. "It's a birthday present, but we have to wait for mommy, 'cause I know she'll want to be there when you open it." "Okay," I replied slightly disappointed. "Let's go inside, it's going to get dark soon." "Okay, daddy." He stood up and opened the passenger side door and got a huge box, wrapped in pink wrapping paper off the seat and took it inside, while I marveled at size of the box and pondering what it could be. I stepped inside and closed the door, "Mommy! Daddy got me a present! Did you see it?" "Yeah, I did! I wonder what it could be," she added with that loving smile that only she could give. I sat down on the couch, in front of the pile of presents on the coffee table, with the bigger presents on the floor. In the kitchen I could see a cake with many frosted and colorful flowers on it and a big number seven candle in the middle. "Can we do presents now?" I asked with excitement. "Of course. After all it is your birthday." Said daddy.

  • 10. When she was younger, they would decorate the Christmas... When she was younger, they would decorate the Christmas tree together. There would be Christmas music playing and cups of warm apple cider. They would argue laughingly over whose topper got put on the tree. Once all the ornaments had been hung and before the tissue paper and boxes had been put away, they would sit on the floor around the tree with all of the lights off, just the strands of white bulbs lighting the space. Gradually, as the years passed, hanging the ornaments became less and less of an ordeal. One year, no one remembered to make the cider. The next year, there was no cider and no music. Finally, she was the only one left. She knew that if she didn't step up to the plate, they might not have had a tree at all, let alone one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were no cookies in the kitchen; none had survived her mother's no–carb purge. Instead, she put some sesame crackers on a plate, poured a small glass of scotch, and put these on the mantel. It wasn't milk and cookies like the Christmas Eves of her childhood, but she hoped Santa wouldn't mind. A small part of her knew that, if he really did exist, he wouldn't mind. In a moment of childlike fantasy, she set a note next to the plate. "Santa, IOU a dozen homemade chocolate chip cookies. Excuse the paltry offerings. There's more of each in the kitchen if you'd like. Wake me up if you get another drink. I'd be glad to join you. Beatrice." The next morning, she awoke to the sounds of paper ripping. They hadn't even waited for her before starting to open presents. As she entered the living room, she noted with dismay that the crackers and glass of scotch were untouched. A small part of her had secretly hoped that her parents would have taken some of each, like they had in her younger years, as a nod to their previous efforts to perpetuate her belief in Santa. Each member of her family had retreated into separate corners of the room to unwrap their gifts. No one said a word to each other outside of the requisite "thank you" once a gift had been opened. During the book The Chosen, written by Chaim Potok, it depicts several different characters pertaining different talents. Characters such as Reuven, Danny, or even Mr. Malter all possess abilities that help them in life. The types of gifts displayed in the book are not what people usually think of as special gifts, but a special talent can seem as little as forgiving easily and genuinely care for others well–being or as big as recalling information at a moments notice. In The Chosen, characters such as Reuven, Danny, and Mr. Malter all demonstrate certain gifts that they maintain. To begin with, Reuven Malter demonstrates many of his different types of gifts throughout the story. Two of the key traits Reuven reveals are the gifts of compassion and the mind for logic. In the beginning of the book Danny tries to kill Reuven by hitting him with a baseball, however he later comes and apologizes to him and Reuven forgives him (Potok, 70). Not everyone, when provided with a chance, will forgive someone who wronged them. Instead of harboring onto his frustrations Reuven graciously forgives Danny, an act that takes great compassion to fulfill. • 15. An Essay On A Special Day Every birthday is supposed to be special and good right? Wrong. Definitely special, but not in a good way. • 16. A Comparison Of The Holidays In Thanksgiving, Christmas... While holidays have often been criticized as ploys to push consumerism on to the public, they have also been widely recognized as a reason for families to come together and interact with one another. These annual interactions often repeated certain behaviors, thus they serve as guidelines for how the family should operate during future holidays. To gain a better understanding on the connection between family identity and family rituals, I decided to interview my father on his Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve traditions. During my interview with my father I observed that the holiday rituals present within his family have contributed largely to the way he perceives his family identity. Through this paper I will be using content from the interview regarding traditions for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve, as well as other academic material to analyze how holiday traditions contribute to my father's perception of his family identity. To begin, when I asked my father to describe the essentials to his ideal Thanksgiving, the first thing he mentioned was the preparation of traditional ethnic foods. He went on to detail foods such as candied yams, macaroni and cheese and spiraled honey ham. By my father listing these ethnic foods as essential to an ideal Thanksgiving, it shows us that his ethnicity contributes to the way he believes the family should function during the holiday. Another detail that he mentioned as important to his ideal Thanksgiving was the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Discipleship Research Paper Introduction Making disciples is the all–encompassing purpose of the church. Many churches do a tremendous amount of work toward the goal of making disciples, but sometimes it is in an unhealthy manner. Just as a healthy person is going to have the most positive productivity in life, a healthy church will also have the most constructive output of discipleship. In this paper, I will explain how a healthy church is the goal for discipleship. In addition, I will examine my personal church context and identify the top three areas that I need to focus on to create a healthier body of Christ. Finally, I will discuss some initials steps that can be made to improve its spiritual health. The Goal The apostle Paul refers to the church as the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12 says, "For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ." The church is one body and all who are baptized are "one in Christ." Just as a body can and should be healthy, a church body can and should be healthy as well. Putman et al. says that a healthy church looks and acts like a healthy body. While studying to be a registered nurse years ago, I had the opportunity to dive deep into study of the systems of the body. The body is tremendously complex and each system works with one another to make the body function as a whole. If one part of the body is suffering, many times it negatively impacts other parts of the body. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Normally, people would think it is weird to protect the wedding presents, and nobody would pay extra money to hire a detective to protect their wedding presents. However, it is explained in the previous paragraph that the value of the presents would add up to something between fifty and a hundred thousand dollars. So this solves the reader's doubt, since the presents are so valuable, it is reasonable to protect them, and it is obvious that the extra money paid to the detective has no comparison with the value of these presents. In paragraph 8, a few other characters are introduced, the admiral and earl from England, ex–president of a South American country, the Danish baron, Russian princess and general, ambassador from a Central European country. This paragraph is very important, because the reader would want to know who are the people involved in the story. By giving a brief ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Analysis Of Never Let Me Go The Asian book Never Let Me Go written by Kazuo Ishiguro takes place in England in the 1990s. The author shows relations to this book by naming it "Never Let Me Go." I say this because in the book there is a character who sings a song that is named "Never Let Me Go." The main theme in this novel is find out who your true friends are and realize not every friendship is going to be perfect, you will go through struggles just like any other type of relationship. Never Let Me Go happens in a tragic form generally 1990s England, where the lives of customary nationals are drawn out through a state–endorsed program of human cloning. The clones, alluded to as understudies, experience childhood in uncommon organizations far from the outside world. As youthful grown– ups, they start to give their key organs. All "givers" get their mind from assigned "carers," clones who have not yet started the gift procedure. The clones keep on donating organs until they "finish," which is a code word for death after the gift of three or four organs. Be that as it may, this preface is not quickly clear to the peruser. Toward the begin of the novel, storyteller Kathy H. only presents herself as a thirty–one–year–old carer. She has been a carer for almost twelve years, however will abandon her part in a couple of months. Kathy discloses that she needs to return to her recollections of Tommy and Ruth, two companions who grew up with her at the Hailsham school. Kathy does not clarify the gift program, ... • 33. Exploring Christmas : The True Meaning Of Christmas Christians celebrate Christmas as the birth of Christ; the rejoicing in the birth of our savior, and His influence on our lives today. It can also be a time of healing and renewed strength. While looking back and celebrating the birth of Christ, it should also be a time of looking ahead in preparation when He will come again. Many people lose sight of this perspective and get entwined in the worldly trappings of the holidays. They forget there is a spiritual meaning that does not require boxes and bows, but rather service and love. In our family, this is significant to our religious beliefs and what my parents hold sacred. The true meaning of Christmas is unconditional love for and service to others. Three words come to mind when I think about the Christmas season: faith, hope and love. The faith that there is a divine power who watches over us each and every day. The hope of a better day today and a greater tomorrow still to come. The love of family and warm friends preparing a holiday meal and breaking bread with one another. These three emotions are the reasons this particular time of year fills my heart with such joy. A hope for a sense of awakening religious traditions and the spiritual realization of the true meaning of Christmas. As you grow up, you learn that the presents are not the most important aspect of Christmas. Some people cherish when their family gets together to celebrate, others may enjoy decorating the tree and wrapping presents. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. My Worst Day I never imagined that my horrible day at work would turn into such an amazing night. I was pretty upset that I was not going to be able to spend Christmas with my boyfriend of two years Tate and his mother Penny at their house because both of our family's were having their family Christmas the same day. So when I got his text it started to turn the night around. I was eager for him to open his gift from me. Also to see what he had snatched up for me. As I was putting my last resident in to bed at work as I did every night as a certified nurses aide at Elm Haven East. I felt my cell phone vibrate in my pocket, instead of looking to see who it was from I finished doing what I need to do in order to help this lady into bed. When I was done I finally looked at my phone to see why it had vibrated. Much to my surprise my boyfriend Tate had texted me, asking if I wanted to come over after work to open Christmas presents with him and his mom Penny. Happy now that I would actually get to see him before Christmas I eagerly replied, "Yes, I would love too. See you after work". I finished up work before clocking out. As I punched my time card I smiled with joy, knowing shortly Tate would be opening his present I was so proud I had bought. I stepped out side to walk to my car, I saw a white cloud coming out of my mouth as I breathed from the cold, crisp air. I pulled into his drive way nervous to walk inside. I walked inside, my hands full of presents. I started through the house to the living room. Penny couldn't help but have a huge smile on her face which made me even more nervous. Penny never smiled like that. Why was she smiling now? There I stood in the living room. Penny excitedly told Tate to go get all the presents from them out from under the tree. While he was gone Penny asked me "Are you excited to open your presents?". The question made my palms sweaty, I hate surprises so opening presents was defiantly my least favorite thing to do at Christmas time. Everyone staring at you to see your reaction to the gifts they bought you, I hated that. Tate finally returned with handful of presents and still hand to go back for more. I just thought to myself how many presents did they buy? When Tate was done bringing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Santa Clause Personal Statement I was in third grade when I stopped believing in Santa Clause. As I listened to my classmates describe the gifts they had received for Christmas, I noticed that my friends from wealthier families got more presents than my friends from poorer families. After some reflection, I decided that the only plausible explanation was that money, rather than elves, determined who ended up on the "nice list." I have always had a strong sense of justice, but over the course of my life it has manifest itself in different ways. When I was in third grade it led me to give up my belief in Santa Clause; and when I was in high school it drove me to volunteering with local nonprofits. There is even some evidence to suggest that the negative economic effects of incarceration, coupled with the damage to family and community ties, may actually lead to more crime. Remember, how much a donor is willing to give is largely governed by your cultivation efforts. Interest Prospects must have an interest in what you do. • 39. Major Gifts Essay Securing major gifts is important to almost every organization (Hodge, n.d., p.1). These gifts assist organizations in ensuring the success of both annual and capital campaigns (Hodge, n.d., p.1). They not only account for most of the donation to a campaign, but they can also serve as a lead gift, which gets other people interested in donating to the cause. Without major gifts, organizations would be doomed, therefore organizations need to ensure that they have the staff, resources, and training in place to allow for successful solicitations. If I was asked to make a major gift solicitation next week, I would feel very nervous. As a historically shy individual, conversing with others in an articulate manner has always been a struggle of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After a lot of preparation and practice, I will no longer need the script, and I will be able to approach the solicitation with confidence. To enhance my confidence even further, having a relationship with the potential benefactor would be ideal. At this stage in the relationship, most of my shyness will no longer be evident, as I would know the potential benefactor very well. After gaining an adequate level of confidence and comfort to be able to successfully solicit the major gift I would arrange a meeting with the potential benefactor. In setting up the meeting, I would be sure to express that the purpose of the meeting is for us to, "invite their philanthropic support for an important organizational project" (Hodge, n.d., p.12). Also, the ideal meeting location would either the home of the potential benefactor or the donor's place of business, whichever potential benefactor is more comfortable with (Hodge, n.d., p.12). At the meeting, we will begin with casual conversation as a way to show our interest in the potential benefactor, but to also calm some of my nerves. After a bit of conversation, we will introduce the reason for the meeting (Dove, n.d., p.11). First, we will clearly explain the project and the benefits that their support will provide our clients, along with some of our personal stories/commitments that highlight our passion for the cause (Hodge, n.d., p. 13). • 40. My Experience Of My Birthdays Do you ever have an experience that destroys something that you had cherished for so long? There have been lots of times in my life that I have been confronted with situations that changed the way I viewed myself and others, there is one distinct time that I remember abruptly changing my viewpoint, and finally learning some very important messages. On the particular day, my birthday, I had one of the most confusing, irritating, frustrating, eye–opening days of my life. A day I will remember for as long as I live. Birthdays were an event that I had been associated with excitement and anticipation in the years prior to my 7th birthday, after that, they were ruined forever. On this special day, I woke up to breakfast in bed, a family tradition. My mom had asked me earlier that week what I wanted for my birthday breakfast and I had responded with the same breakfast that everyone in my family asks for, cinnamon rolls. Skip ahead to the next morning, having just woken up, being presented with a plate of pancakes... What? I was confused. I thought, There must be some mistake. I looked around hoping to see another plate with warm gooey rolls of dough smothered in sugar placed on it. To my dismay, there was not. Oh. I guess maybe mom didn't hear me when I said I wanted cinnamon rolls, I wondered, but how could she not have? It's the same breakfast all of us ask for.
