2. MY FIRST JOB AT:
COSTA BLANCA X
The reason why I consider my first job
in retail at the store Costa Blanca X to
be an accomplishment is because of
the experience I managed to gain
while employed. I was hired on at the
store when I turned 16 years old in
August 2008. From that day onward
and for the next 3 years, I worked
throughout the majority of my high
school years and I was promoted
twice. I started off as a inexperienced
sales associate, progressed well
enough to become a third key holder
and my final promotion was becoming
the assistant store manager. Costa
Blanca X taught me the value and
importance of hard work and striving
to become better. I developed skills
that I never knew I had within myself. I
am very grateful to have had my first
real job experience within this store.
3. GRADUATING FROM
HIGH SCHOOL
I successfully graduated from high
school in the year 2010. I consider my
graduation to be an accomplishment
because it was not an easy one. High
school was the most difficult period of
my life, so far. I was struggling to find
out who I really was, what was
important to me, what I wanted out of
a career, maintaining good marks and
trying to stay close with friends that I
that I thought I would have forever. I
also worked throughout the majority
of high school which made the
pressure of balancing a work
life, school life, social life and family
life extremely exhausting. However, I
did manage to pull it off, despite the
struggles I faced and I use this as
motivation toward graduating from
Centennial College.
4. MY SECOND JOB AT:
AJAX TRANSPORTATION
I consider myself to be really lucky to
have had two jobs that have taught me
so much about myself and have
provided me with ample work
experience for my career.
Unfortunately, Costa Blanca X was
forced to shut down, ending my 3 year
stride, but I turned to Ajax
Transportation for a new job, in a new
industry. Ajax Transportation opened
my eyes up to the world of
transportation. Coming from a retail
background, I did not think that I
would be a suitable fit for the
industry, but I quickly learned how to
use the knowledge and skills I
previously gained and applied them to
my new role. Once I was able to
develop a steady work method, I was
ready for any challenge. Since the day I
started at Ajax Transportation, I have
worked 3 different positions and I am
still currently looking forward to taking
on new roles.
5. EXTRACURRICULAR
EDUCATION/FUN
Growing up, I never had the
opportunity to do any extracurricular
activities outside of school. At this one
point in time between working at Ajax
Transportation and finishing up a
semester at Centennial College I felt
really bored with my work and
education. I wanted to try something
new for the summer and take on a
new challenge; I decided to enroll
myself in to the Bartending School of
Ontario and apply for my Smart Serve.
I was eager to try my luck at bar
tending because I thought it would be
a great part time job/hobby to have
and also because I had never done
anything extracurricular and on my
own before. Overall, the course was a
lot of fun, I gained a new skill and
certification and I am licensed to serve
alcohol. Cheers!
6. VOLUNTEERING
I have done quite a bit of volunteer
experience through school and with
friends, but I have never ventured out
to volunteer for something on my own.
After completing my certification at
the Bartending School of Ontario, I
came across the opportunity to
volunteer my new talents at the
annual Oakville Cause for Paws charity
event at Appleby College. Cause for
Paws raises money for the Oakville
Humane Society in order to provide
animals with the care and support
they need. I enjoyed the fact that
volunteering for a cause that I am very
passionate about had literally taken
me to a place I had never been to. I
thought Oakville was a gorgeous city
and I would like to visit some other
time. Perhaps my future volunteer
experiences will continue to lead me
to new discoveries that will contribute
to my lifetime experiences.
