4. Student Cultural Diversity Questionnaire
Analysis
• There are 7 questions with 6 responses.
• We will read the responses and each write a one sentence

• We will then use these summaries and the data from the previous
slide to help us develop an analysis of strengths of the school
culture.

serve?

in the community we serve and the diversity of students who
attend our school?
What factors would you say contribute to the current cultural
spectrum at our school?
What do we, as a faculty and staff, do to recruit culturally
diverse students?

sample of culturally diverse students?
6. Staff Diversity
Interview
Questions
• We will read through the following responses from
Mr. McCluney and either add to or expand upon
ideas that he brings up in his interview responses.
7. Staff Diversity Interview Questions and
Responses
Q: In what ways do you feel our faculty and staff
represent the cultural groups that we serve?
A: When looking through the hiring process, you’re
looking for people who reflect the values and culture
of the school and people who build the professional
relationships with students. People who build a strong
support network with the students by leveraging
relationships with students and activities with
incoming freshmen so that everyone is off campus on
neutral ground. Some activities in Freshman Academy
and connections during that time. We could look at
expanding connections and academy activities more
and more. Emotional needs of our students is very
diverse. Help students recognize that we’re all
different.
8. Staff Diversity Interview Questions and
Responses
Q: In what ways do you
feel our faculty and staff
could better represent the
cultural groups that we
serve?
A: We do a good job with
it. Some of it is through
our selection of materials;
literature. Mrs. Lambert is
very sensitive about the
materials she chooses.
Differentiated instruction.
9. Staff Diversity Interview Questions and
Responses
Q: Can you describe the diversity
and cultural characteristics of
applicants and interviewees for the
latest hire?
A: Of the pool that applied, there
were 10 applicants that we pulled.
Of the 10, 9 were female and one
was male. All of them were white.
There are no questions in the
application regarding race or
ethnicity, so there is no way to tell
whether the applicants are white
or other races.
10. Staff Diversity Interview Questions and
Responses
Q: Can you describe
the diversity and
cultural characteristics
of applicants and
interviewees for
previous hires?
A: Majority white
women; sometimes
100% white women
11. Staff Diversity Interview Questions and
Responses
Q: Are there gaps
between the diversity
of applicants and the
students whom we
serve?
A: There is a high
percentage of Hispanic
students in the schools;
it would be nice to hire
someone who is
bilingual.
12. Staff Diversity Interview Questions and
Responses
Q: Do you have any
ideas about how to
better recruit minority
teachers?
A: Encourage minority
substitutes and even all
substitutes to go back
to school and look
toward a career in
education.
