Year 11 weeks 1 to 3 september

3. Year 11 Graphics
Access to computers/printing
Unfortunately we can not use D7 at present as you are used to doin, and there are
allocated days when we are able to get into the computer room. Therefore, you can’t
have to use EVERY single moment possible when we are in D7 to get the most out of your
printing time. You will have access to computers and printers in you’re a Level study area
outside of lessons times and can print/research all that you need in your study periods,
ready to bring to the lesson.
This means that you do not have access to printing facilities or computers during your
Graphics lesson time. This means the following:
1. You will need to be very organised and make sure you have printed off what you need
prior to the lesson in your study area.
2. You will not be allowed out of lessons to go to use other computers in other rooms.
4. This year, we will be continuing with your Year 11 briefs, which will
now all be put forward as ONE portfolio, and will be marked by the
examiners as a full coursework project.
There is now NO Externally set Exam, which not only relieves the
stress for you, but is going to give us much more time to complete
existing briefs, and additional ones to further enhance your
portfolio
We have just had clarification that the exam component
(component 2), has now been removed, meaning that this course
is now 100% coursework, without the pressure of an exam. It also
means we can extend and broaden your skills and creating an
exciting portfolio of work.
So in essence, your work this year will consist of the following:
1. Year 10 ‘Typography Project’ (in your A1 folders)
2. Year 10 into Year 11 City Brief – This is now merging with the
Quarantined in the City Brief that I set at the end of last term.
3. Other Briefs set to expend and enhance your portfolio.
5.
6. For the next two weeks, or more, I
would like to give you the opportunity
to develop a really STRONG portfolio of
work – Everything that you are doing
counts towards you level and will be
markied as part of your ‘Portfolio’.
Without the EXAM, this could really
work to our advantage and we can now
spend longer on experimentation,
develoment of ideas and final pieces.
You must now work really hard to
present all the work set from March
and use the list as a ‘checklist’ of work
that must be completed.
PRESENTATION is key – this will really
impact on your final level, so we are
really looking for that professional
method of presentation.
7. Today Lesson:
• Introductory Powerpoint Presentation.
• Exempla folder.
• Mark sheets in Assessment Folders
• ‘What Does A Graphic Designer Actually Do’
sheet – if we get time.
• Graphics Packs
• HOMELEARNING: ALL LOCKDOWN work MUST be
brought into school – this is what we will be
working on over the next few weeks.
