1. A very good morning to the honourable judges, headmasters,
headmistresses, teachers and my fellow friends. Today, I would like
to tell you a story entitled “The tortoise and the eagle.”
One day, a tortoise saw an eagle flying in the sky. He felt very
jealous because he wished to fly in the sky like the eagle.
So the tortoise went to see the eagle. He asked the eagle to teach
him how to fly. The eagle only shook his head.
“Please……please, you are such a good and decent person,
please teach me.”
However, after begging many times using sweet words, the eagle
finally gave in.
The eagle then gripped the tortoise’s shell with its claws and
flew off into the sky.
The tortoise was very happy and was having great fun in the sky.
“Weeeeee…..!!” He felt very proud and shouted, “Ha! Ha! Ha! I
know how to fly!”
The eagle got angry. It let go of the tortoise. The tortoise
crashed onto the ground. Although he did not die, his shell was
cracked.
Even up to this day, a tortoise’s shell still has those crack lines.
The tortoise was very ashamed of his boasting. So very time, it sees
an eagle, it will hide his shell.
