An Report On The Retail Company, Abercrombie & Fitch Essay
This report is on the retail company, Abercrombie & Fitch. I will discuss what they are known for
and how they provide a safe working place for their employees, vendors, and customers. I will
discuss their hiring practices and minimum requirements. I provided a SWOT Analysis of their
employee– employer relationships. I will discuss the controversial issues they have faced regarding
ethical behavior with their employees. Finally, I will discuss what I have learned from this company
and what I would change or continue doing within their business.
Abercrombie & Fitch (A&F) was founded in 1982 by David Abercrombie and Ezra Fitch in New
York City (1). Mike Jeffries was the CEO for 22 years, until he resigned in 2014 following eleven
consecutive quarters of sales declining; thus, A&F is being overseen by Arthur Martinez, Jonathon
Ramsden, and Fran Horowitz (2). Abercrombie & Fitch currently has 62,150 employees (1). A&F is
a retail store T–shirts, shorts, denim jeans, shoes and accessories. Their style was more of a basic
and casual look. They have a store called Abercrombie kids, which sells exclusively to boys and
girls. They also have another store called Abercrombie & Fitch, which sells to women and men.
They market towards young children to young adults, but are now targeting more towards the 18–22
age group (1).
Abercrombie & Fitch is best known for their basic T–shirts with their logo placed across the chest
and the denim jeans. They are also known for their marketing

Another benefit of having a multi–payer contract is the statutory requirement covering 2–5 fiscal
years (10 USC 2306b). Some of the advantage of using the multi–year contract for the company
includes higher profit potential, little control by the government, less financial audit and defined
specification. There are some disadvantages including risk assumption relates to financial and
technical assumptions. The government would have the advantages of risk shifts to contractor,
simplifies budget process, no responsibility of management and defined work specification. One of
the disadvantage for the government is the prices always contain some contingencies. DUI would
use this fixed price proposal because it would mean the contract expands more than one year and

Successive Relearning: Article Analysis
We all wish we could do better on our tests and retain our knowledge years after taking the class.
This wish can come true with the information in the article The Power of Successive Relearning:
Improving Performance on Course Exams and Long–Term Retention. This passage talks about the
importance of practice tests and spaced study. The combination of both of these techniques is called
successive relearning. Successive relearning for use in college will build a stronger long–term
memory of the material and promote better grades on exams. Two experiments were performed to
test the effectiveness the techniques used in successive relearning. Experiment 1 tested student
performance on exams using self–regulated practice and restudy–only versus successive relearning.

The article tests the effectiveness of errorless learning and having no distractions on the ability to
retain information. The article finds that it greatly increases retained memory. Using errorless
learning is very useful for college students because it aids them in retaining information for use on
tests as well as to retain knowledge even after getting out of college. By simply eliminating any
distractions from the studying environment a college student can greatly increase performance on
tests and the span of long–term memory. I will use the information from this study for my college
learning by studying without television or radio noise and use flashcards to retain information. I
would recommend to any and all college students to study in a non–distractive secluded area using
reliable flashcards. If by simply using errorless learning to more effectively retain long–term
memory, who wouldn't want to use this technique, no

Procurement Contract Assessment Paper
Procurement Contract Assessment Dayne Dickson, Scott Giles, Ronald Fletcher, & Dale Bierman
Bellevue University Procurement Contract Assessment It is essential that project managers have a
thorough understanding of procurement concepts, and the contracts that are involved in the practice.
This assignment will focus on the types (Fixed Price, Cost Reimbursable, and Time and Material),
and subtypes of procurement contracts, and discuss the pros, cons, and the burden of risk of each. At
the end of the assessment, (FFP). This a clear understanding of which type of contract is least

This type of contract is a hybrid of the Fixed Price and Cost Reimbursable contract, in that, the

construction project needs. The Choice When considering the worse contract type, the team was
cognizant of the previous contract failures ACME had gone through in the past. As a company,
ACME lacks expertise in demolition or construction, which makes the organization susceptible to
risk when choosing certain contract styles. Because of these skillset limitations, (FFP). This inherent

Construction Contracts Essay
Chapter 4 – Construction Contracts 1. Name and briefly describe each of the two basic types of
competitively bid construction contracts. Which type would be most likely used for building the
piers to support a large suspension bridge. Why? Two basic types of competitively bid construction
contracts are lump–sum and the unit–price contract. The lump–sum contract is when the contractor
agrees to complete all work for a pre–determined price including profit and the contract. The unit–
price contract is when the contractor quotes work on units separately instead of entire project. Price
is based on units of work performed, and cost varies depending on the quantities of units. Building

4. Name two types of negotiated contracts and describe the method of payment and incentive
concept. Cost + percent of cost is the method of payment which is related to the cost of the job, the
larger the cost of the job the higher the amount of fee that is to be paid by the owner. There is a little
incentive to be efficient and economical in the construction but is subjected to abuse. Cost + fixed
fee is paid regardless of the variation of the reimbursable cost factor. This method gives contractors
an incentive to get the job done as quickly as possible in order to recover his fee over the shortest
time frame. 5. What is meant by unbalancing bid? What type of contract is implied? Give an
example of how a bid is unbalanced. A bid is unbalanced when some contractors use this method to
profit greatly on a project. Contractors do this by changing unit prices of various bid items to the
point where the price does not reflect the true cost of those items. The unit–price contract is implied
to an unbalancing bid. An example of how a bid could be unbalanced occurs when a contractor uses
the method of unstable bidding by overbidding in the beginning of the contract in order to reduce his
finances and then will underbid at the end of the project. 6. Why is cost plus a percentage of cost
type of contract not used to a great extent? A cost plus, is a fixed–price contract where the contractor
paid for all the allowed expenses to certain limit

The, Outliers, By Malcolm Gladwell
"Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day." (Jim Rohn) Malcolm
Gladwell's, Outliers, published in 2008, makes arguments about what it means to be successful, and
how one can become successful. Gladwell specifically mentions the "10,000 Hour Rule" which
states that anyone who wants to reach a definite level of mastery must perform 10,000 hours of
practice until that level is reached. Some believe this rule to be invalid as those who are successful
are born talented. Though I recognize that some people are born naturally gifted, I still contend that
anyone who wants to become great at what they do, needs to do supplementary amounts of
practicing as it utilizes one's potential to the fullest as Gladwell ... Show more content on

Gracyn, always having relied on her natural ability, was unaware of the hard work and practicing it
would take for her to succeed and make one of the teams. She began putting in much more effort,
time, and practice. Consequently, she made the Ohio State University cheer team. Success is the
initial ability plus the extra practice one is willing to put in to achieve it. Extensive practicing leads
to these behaviors becoming a way of life. There's an old Latin saying "Repetitio mater studiorum
est." which translates to "Repetition is the mother of all learning." Repetition is the key to proper
practice as it is the best way for a person to learn. The more a behavior repeats, it becomes habitual.
There is a moment where you become so good at something that you don't have to think about what
you are doing, it comes naturally. A basic example of this is tying your shoes. We learned at a very
young age how to tie our shoes. We kept practicing and practicing until the point where it doesn't
take any thought of what you are doing. Natural talent paired with repetition creates a natural
success.
Practice is beneficial only if the person genuinely is interested in what they are doing. Raymond T.
Hightower, president of WisdomGroup software company states, "The elite don't just work harder
than everybody else. At some point the elites fall in love with practice to the point where they want
to do little else." Those people

The Effects Of Size Discrimination In The Fashion Industry
For many years there has been size discrimination amongst the fashion industry. Some companies
want to say that women are too big or too skinny. Yet this may be true in some cases, this does not
mean that their assumptions should affect who can and cannot model. When fashion industries are
picking models, they should consider that not every woman is the same size and their weight, if
healthy, should not affect their chances of becoming a model. A new study in the NCA's
Communication Monographs discovered that when women, who were hocked up to a heart monitor,
viewed images of other women with the same or similar body type to their own. There were more
reports of body positivity and less social comparison. While there is more growing awareness of
plus–size models there is also starting to be more demand for plus–size clothing in more styles.
When a heavier set woman goes to flip through a magazine and all they see is skinny models being
portrayed as beautiful and smart, yet this starts to take a mental toll on them. Thoughts of self–
discrimination can lead to low self–esteem issues. To help with these thoughts fashion industries
have now started putting plus–size women on their runways, such as the Lane Bryant's #ImNoAngle
and Dove's Real Beauty campaigns.
To say that women who are bigger are the only ones who deal with self–esteem issues is a false
statement. Yes, there are slimmer models in magazines and walking on runways this can still affect
smaller people. Skinny

The Importance Of Memory And Short-Term Memory
Roger goes to his friend's wedding where he is introduced to over 50 people. Roger's goal at this
wedding is to meet new people, and remember as many names as he can. In order for him to get
their names into long–term memory, he first needs to get them past sensory, and short term memory.
For him to be able to do this, he needs to come up with some strategies to remember these names.
He will learn when it is necessary for him to rehearse the names over in his head, group some of
them together, or making connections to the names. By testing out these strategies, we will learn
how information moves from sensory memory to short–term memory, and hopefully to long–term
memory.
All information makes it to our sensory memory, but it only lasts less than one second. When Roger
got to the wedding, there was probably tons of people in all different outfits, but he will probably
never remember any of it. If he were to meet a woman who he thinks is attractive, her outfit could
enter his short term memory so he can spot her out later during the party. "If we pay attention to the
information in our sensory memory, in information is sent on to the second stage, short–term
memory" (Doyle–Portillo & Pastorino 271). The memory will last only about 20–30 seconds when
it reaches the short–term memory. Because the short–term memory can hold about seven plus or
minus two items, Roger could have payed close attention to the color of her eyes and hair too.

Melissa Mccarthy Case Study
The new member of the Ghostbusters team, Melissa McCarthy, is not a fan of labeling clothes as
plus size and is not afraid to voice her opinion about it. McCarthy believes that the plus size label
gives majority of women in America the feeling of not being good enough. "Women come in all
sizes. Seventy percent of women in the United States are a size 14 or above, and that's technically
"plus–size," she told Refinery29. " So you're taking your biggest category of people and telling
them, 'You're not really worthy.' I find that very strange," McCarthy said.
Why are women being segregated into different categories? The 44 year old, mother of two believes
fashion designers should create apparel for all women and do away with labels. "I just think, if
you're going to make women's clothing, make women's clothing." She also feels that women
designers are making the process of creating clothing unnecessarily complex. "Designers that put
everyone in categories are over complicating something that should be easy," said McCarthy. ...

result on the appearance of women today and how this can effect someone's confidence and self–

how someone perceives themselves to be and how the media has a big influence on our young adults

uncommon not to see advertisements. The media is always among us, so of course it would

are just not good enough. It started an epidemic of non–reachable goals and misery with what is
real. Our culture has portrayed the "thin ideal" in every avenue of the media such as; magazines,
social media, movies, and commercials. In the past 70 years, the number of all eating disorders

The National Institute of Health indicates that more than two–thirds (68.8%) of Americans are
obese. An increase in the number of overweight Americans presents special opportunities for weight
reduction companies. Overweight people have special physical, dietary, privacy, and other needs
that can be met in various ways.
The introduction of First Lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" program has resulted in Americans
becoming health conscious and taking a proactive approach to adopt healthy lifestyles. With the
increased awareness, a lot of people are making lifestyle changes by dieting, exercising or both. The
increase in the number of people exercising has translated into an increasing trend in the purchase or
search for plus–size athletic apparel.
According to the Washington Post, out of the $190billion clothing industry, plus size clothing
represents only 9%.
Some retailers and dealers have realized the potential to grow sales and revenue by catering to the
niche market of plus size shoppers however a large number of others are reluctant to jump on board
for financial reasons.
The NDP Group indicates that plus–sized women's clothing went up 5% from 2013 to 2014 and
generated $17.5billion within the period in comparison to $16.8billion the previous year.

Media's Influence On Social Media And Body Image
In the 21st century, social media plays a massive part in every single person's life. It influences our
everyday activity: the way we speak, the way we see things and sometimes even the way we think.
Likewise, it is responsible for creating the significance behind the words 'body image', and plays an
important role in shaping our self confidence and awareness for others. It is commonly used to
describe an individuals body type and appearance. However the term 'standards' is a little more
complicated and is what society thinks is the 'ideal' body type.
The 'standard of beauty' and 'body image' are everywhere; magazines, TV ads, Newspapers. 8 out of
10 of the most popular magazines in America promote weight loss tips or secret to losing weight.
Instagram and Snapchat news feeds are flooded of daily exercise routines or meal plans with skinny
toned individuals promoting them. It is so rare now a days, to see an 'imperfect' person advertising
anything. Instead, we have models with flawless skin, long legs and toned abs. These unrealistic
images that we encounter everyday, is what creates out desire to be skinny and perfectly toned,
eventually developing a sense of self–destruct. Studies show that 70% of normal weighted women
in America want to be thinner along side with 34% of men that are dissatisfied with their body.
Today, around nine in ten American young adults have access to at least one type of social media.
This then results in most parents spending time teaching

Persuasive Essay On Online Shopping
Advertising is a part of society that can't be ignored. It's purpose is to persuade people to go to that
specific store or restaurant to consume a product. However, sometimes people don't have the time to
drive to the store and end up doing online shopping. Even on the online websites of the stores there's
certain things that they display to get the attention of customers. Even Though Forever 21 ads are
rarely seen on television or on billboards, it's seen advertised a lot on social media. Their page on
Instagram has 14.1 million follower and more than half of them are teenage girls and young adult
females. (@forever21) This store targets teenage girls and young adult woman as their customers
due to the clothes and accessories that are sold. It has become a popular store among female teens
and young female woman. That's due to the fact that it allows their customers to buy trendy chic
clothes at low prices. That is important especially because we're living in a time in which people
care a lot about how they look. The Forever 21 website lures customers by displaying current offers,
exhibiting the different clothes they have, and the models they use on the pictures.
Essentially, all stores and companies use advertising to persuade the general public to buy whatever
it is they're selling. Like Malcolm Gladwell suggests, stores know how to layout and display their
products to lure customers into the store in which they might eventually buy something. (Gladwell)

Atlantic Computers has held a 20% offer of the High Performance market with their Radia servers

for the developing US business market open door for basic servers. The PESA would permit the
Tronn to perform up to four times quicker than its standard speed and make regularly asked for data

Plus Size Models Encouraging Obessity

varied body size, and shape. Now, enter the world of the media, a world in which you are formally
introduced to high fashion, where flashing lights, money, glamour and riches crash around you,
satiating every crevice of your being. Here, you will find two unified body types, divided into two
categories of shape in women; thin, and thick. Naturally, any woman who wishes to someday strut
down the catwalk in Zac Posen, or pose in Marie Claire wearing Dolce and Cabana must have a
body that fits one of these required molds, right? It is a well–known reality that many women who

It is deduced from three major factors: height, frame, and age of the subject being measured; this
calculated measurement is known as a BMI, or, a body mass indicator. The BMI distinguishes the
percentage of body fat that pertains to the subject's body. A healthy BMI would fall between 18.5–
24.5% for a woman: anything below qualifying as underweight, anything above qualifying
overweight; it is not until you reach a percentage of about thirty that you reach what is qualified as
obesity. It's hard to argue against the influence the modeling businesses have on people, which the
majority of the time, always affects our personal body images negatively. You can detect and
surmise that negativity to correlate to the fashion industry's definition of a "plus size" model, a
measurement that to most, including myself, twists the stomach and sends steam out both ears due to

WHY AN ONLINE SCHEDULE MAKER IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TOOL A BUSINESS
SHOULD HAVE Creating effective employee schedules, whether manually or via an online
schedule maker, is an art form that requires an analytical brain, common sense, and a clear
understanding of business goals. Work schedules, or employee schedules, are necessary if work or
tasks are to be completed in a well–organized manner. Effective schedules have time and again been
compared to good motor oil. When they work as they are expected to, good schedules can actually
help businesses to accomplish maximum performance. On the other hand, just like cheap oil,
hopeless schedules can practically drive a business to a halt. When employees come to the office
without an idea on what to do and when to do it, it affects their morale mainly because they don't
have proper schedules to serve their skills and needs and this eventually affects their productivity
and career growth. Generally, a good work schedule can be described as a schedule that drives
employees to the right place, to the right tasks, and at the right time. Without proper employee
scheduling, there will always be conflicts that can create chaos, particularly during peak hours. A
good schedule empowers employees to become more productive and in the same way, a good
schedule empowers a business to deliver only the best to their customers. A proper schedule also
happens to be transparent. This way, employees are not likely to be irritated about particular

Effects Of Media On Young Girls
Many young girls are worried about what their body looks like and if they are thin enough to be
considered beautiful. Over several years the thin bodies that are promoted through magazines,
movies, etc. are displayed as the 'perfect body'. Very few companies and brands do not use
Photoshop or women who are considered plus sized models. The thinness of the models that are
promoted is unachievable naturally. Media is a key factor in putting this thought into young girl's
minds that they often carry throughout lives. Parents pressure their daughters to be thin and have
this "ideal" body because they want their child to fit in with everyone else and to be considered
beautiful among others. Peers bully one another because someone might not have this 'perfect' body.
The media is what causes parents and peers to think that every girl needs to have this body. If the
media were to be more accepting of bodies in all shapes and sizes, parents and peers would begin to
feel the same way. Females have too much pressure put on them by media, parents, and peers to
have a perfect body. Media needs to be more infl uential in a positive way on different body types.
Media is one of the biggest influences in the world. It reaches to almost everyone around the world.
The models and actors that are in the media that are considered to be an ideal role model, or a
beauty standard, are all very thin. In many magazines such as Vogue and Glamour the models that
are on the front cover and scattered

The Effect Of Changing Demand On Kokosing 's Pricing...
Introduction Problem Statement This paper will study the effect of changing demand on Kokosing's
pricing strategy, specifically when conducting government funded projects. Background Kokosing
Construction Company is a large construction firm based in Ohio that primarily conducts highway
projects for the Ohio Department of Transportation (Kokosing, 2009). Due to the nature of the
projects conducted by Kokosing, the company's pricing strategy is unique since the projects must
first be won through bidding. Due to high competition and the nature of the projects, Kokosing
essentially uses a cost–plus pricing strategy to determine their bids. Therefore, Kokosing has the
ability to alter their price and profit margin for each project. Moreover, this scenario is unique
because Kokosing has the opportunity to use the price to their advantage: during low demand they
can decrease their profit margin to win bids and gain projects and vice versa during peak demand.
Thus, research will be conducted to determine if demand truly does have an effect on Kokosing's
pricing strategy and the reasoning behind the strategy. Overview In order to investigate the problem
statement, in section 2 the theories of cost–plus pricing and elasticity of demand will be defined and
explained in depth. Additionally, section 2 contains the discussion about how each theory addresses
the problem statement. Section 3 will contain the research conducted, specifically an overview of
the information gained

Social Media And Its Impact On Society
Traditionally, people used the Internet to simply expend content: they read it, they watched it, and
they used it to buy products and services. Increasingly, however, people are now utilizing
platforms––such as content sharing sites, blogs, social networking, and wikis––to create, modify,
share, and discuss Internet content. This represents the social media phenomenon, which can now
significantly impact how an entire movement is viewed worldwide. It's difficult to comprehend in
this day and age that social media could actually produce something positive and worthwhile,
considering so much of the discussions are filled with arguments revolving around race relations,
political ideologies, and violence. The social media phenomenon has people "plugged in" to twitter
wars between celebrities, the latest political sound bites, and hashtags to use against one another (i.e
#BlackLivesMatter vs. #PoliceLivesMatter). Yet, through the issues, there are social media
platforms that promote positive expressiveness of one's self worth and love. In relation to the body,
the hashtag #EffYourBeautyStandards has created its own phenomenon within the realm of the
internet. In times of body shaming, scrutiny, and being judged based off of a size on the back of a
tag, or the color of your skin, or the lack of makeup one refuses to where, this hashtag promotes
beauty acceptances and embraces the differences of every person. This social media movement

Rachel Berry's The Fashion Industry Free To Be An Individual
"Fashion is about Fantasy and not everybody's fantasy is to be 6ft tall and white" ( Bratskier,
2008,52). The fashion industry has enchanted many minds and hearts over the years. Models such as
Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks, and Alek Wek rose to stardom in the 80's and paved a path for other
models of color. Natalie Laughlin and Sophie Dahl did the same for plus sized models; however, not
much has changed and the fashion industry has remained predominantly tall thin and white. In
Rachel Berry's essay, The Fashion Industry Free to Be an Individual, she is evaluating two shoe ads
on how they display the models' personalities. Berry praises these ads because she thinks that
allowing models to show their personalities is important because it will let young girls know that
they can express themselves and be beautiful through fashion without having to worry about
following the trends. I disagree with this in part. I think that before we even consider the idea of ads
expressing a model's personality the problem of diversity in the fashion industry needs to be tackled
first. Not having a wide array of diversity in ethnicity and body type promotes racial stereotyping
and makes it hard for young women to relate to women who don't look like them. Unlike many
careers where one is judged upon past job experience and educational attainment, modeling is based
off one's looks. Because beauty is in the eye of the beholder this leads to blatant racism in the
fashion industry when there should

Do you feel insecure about your body? Is it because of the ads, television shows, movies,
magazines, etc. that you are viewing daily? The majority of the population, especially women, suffer
from low–self esteem and dissatisfaction with their bodies due to the media. About 91% of women
are unhappy with their bodies and diet to reach the ideal body image. (1) Having good self–esteem
is very important to all women because having low–self esteem is very unhealthy. Unrealistically
high standards, mislabeled plus–sized women, and frequently photoshopped covers are contributing
to extremely low self–esteem that can result in anorexia and depression. The first main topic is that
ideal body images in the media are turning into impossibly high ... Show more content on

Normal sized women are now being given the label of plus–sized which is body shaming and
unacceptable. In the fashion industry, sizes 12–24 are known as plus–size. In the United States, the
average size is 12–14. (3) These sizes don't line up and translate to the lies that women hear daily.
Models are expected to be at a very minimal weight causing the viewers of magazines, tv, etc. to
think that their own body weight isn't acceptable, or plus–sized. Twenty years ago, on average,
models weighed 8% less than the average American women. Now they weigh 23% less. Most
models' body weight is clinically anorexic. (7) Models' weight mirrors what the media thinks is a
normal weight but really it is unhealthy and is increasingly getting worse. Crystal Renn, a former
fashion model, wrestled with a deadly eating disorder for multiple years before resigning to plus–
size modeling for health purposes. (6) Models are suffering from something that can be changed
starting with them. When they change, the media changes, which changes women's perspectives,
resulting in higher self–esteem and less eating disorders. Ten years ago, plus size models usually
were between size 12 and 18, while they now go only from sizes 6 through 14. Half of American
women actually wear a size 14 or larger, which means that even plus–sizes aren't representing the
average American woman. (7) The plus–sized label is getting to be extreme. The media are calling

Media Portrayal Of Beauty
Since the growth of media and the internet, people have been greatly exposed to a specific standard
of beauty. Seeing these high expectations of having a perfect body, unblemished skin, great hair,
designer clothes, etc.; individuals are concerned with their appearance. In most cases, people wish to
change their appearance, not for themselves, but to appeal to others. Media portrayals of beauty
have a negative effect on just about everyone, however teenagers are the ones affected the most.
Teens allow technology to take over their lives, provoking them to be heavily influenced by what
they see. Everyone has had a fair share of insecurities due to comparing oneself to others based on
appearances. Magazines, television, social media, and ads display individuals that are considered
appealing to the eyes of viewers. A common component in all these media sources are the thin,
unflawed models presenting themselves or a product. Although those types of models are favorable
to look at, they are not common or diverse. Regular people have flaws on and off camera. Everyone
wants to be publicly represented in order to showcase their differences and not feel alone. The lack
of representation of plus size individuals or people with medical conditions that are outwardly
evident is tremendous, so people feel the need to change in order to conform to society's and the
media's idea of beauty. Therefore, the way in which media portrays beauty must be modified in
order for people of all types

America's Next Top Model
America's Next Top Model and the Damaging Effects of contradiction in a Starving Industry
Women today are often bombarded with countless images of highly distorted and photo shopped
creations that are meant to represent the ideal woman. Every time we turn on a TV, open a
magazine, or visit YouTube; we get forced into consuming these images. With ads running like
Victoria's Secret's "Perfect Body" campaign, which featured very non diverse thin models in
lingerie. Across the image of all the women were the words the perfect

today's society. For the average sized modern woman, there is no escape. These unattainable body

Especially Reality Television; with shows like America's Next Top Model as one of the most
notorious. America's Next top Model is an American reality television series in which young women
(and more recently young men) compete to win a modeling career. The show is hosted and produced
by Tyra Banks, famous super model and TV host. The show consist of a dozen contestants who must
eat, breath, and live fashion for the next twelve o fourteen weeks. They must compete in competitive
photoshoots and quickly gain skills that models learn over years in only a matter of weeks. Then
during judging they must stand and have every aspect of their highly photo shopped pictures
meticulously scrutinized. The photoshoots themselves range in a wide variety of subjects, and have
even known to be very controversial. Every aspect of the girls are meticulously watched and
examined, if not by the judges than by their fellow competitors. It's a high stressed show that feeds
on the cut throat politics of the fashion industry. It forces the competitors to strive unattainable

The Negative Implications Of The Fashion Industry
Americans should eliminate the thought that the fashion industry is high end and advanced because
the designers that run the industry creates false and negative portrayals on people, makes models go
through unreasonable lifestyle expectations, and cause social issues.
The fashion industry is certainly notorious for using heavy image manipulation softwares to portray
a "perfect" image. In 1987, Thomas and John Knoll invented photoshop: the world's largest
grayscale image producer to the human race. Since then, fashion has been drastically modified
because of wrong glorifications of a "perfect" image. As stated in http://p.dw.com/p/1Eibq,
Photoshop has revolutionized the art of photo processing. Let alone separates our perception of
reality from ideas of "perfect beauty" to media manipulation. Fashion designers are constantly
blamed for deliberately misleading their customers by creating a product that is indeed, a false
impression. Most of all, they perpetuate unhealthy body images by "slimming down" their models
and concealing their imperfections/flaws. Perhaps some might argue excessive photoshopping is
necessary or by exposing the extended work that makes fashion photos publishable in any big–time
magazines they'll gain something from it, however, that's unacceptable. Designers in the industry are
overusing the digital manipulation software. Recent infractions to show this controversy is Crystal
Renn. Renn is a plus sized model who joined the fashion industry after battling anorexia. The
determined model decided to take control of her health and speak against the deleterious
expectations of models in the industry and the practices that prolonged her bad decisions. On
October 31, 2017, Crystal Renn was featured in a French Vogue magazine shoot named, Fashion for
Passion. When the photos were publicized, Renn was visualized as a slender, size 2 model instead of
the hedonistic size 10 model she is known for. Renn being as resilient as she is, spoke against the
photographs, expressing her agitation in being so blatantly misrepresented. She also acknowledged
the retouch of the designers photographs, but conveyed the images as "crossing the line." Crystal
Renn is just one of the many models who has fallen prey to

Fashion Design And Effective Design In The Fashion Industry
Early one morning about four years ago Melissa Miller woke up from a deep sleep with an answer
to the question that had been keeping her awake for weeks prior. It hit her the second she opened her
eyes. "It was sort of out of no where, like it had come to me in a dream that night," said Miller, "I
just remember waking up and being like ah–ha." Miller is better known as Emme, the first plus size
supermodel, and the question that was keeping her up was how she could contribute the fashion
industry, or larger than than that, to womanhood, in a way to that would make an impact. Something
that would really stick. Hazily, Emme got out of bed and tip toed to her kitchen so not to wake her
13 year old daughter at this early hour. She made herself a cup of black coffee and settled down at
her kitchen table. She started by googling fashion education programs in the United States to
confirm her suspicion. That morning, Emme woke up to the realization that the greatest way to
make an impact would be to start at the bottom– by working with the people who would be creating
the fashion of the future– and, as she suspected, it wasn't being done. In order to see inclusive design
in the fashion industry, Emme would have to start by teaching young people studying fashion design
and the fashion industry to create with an inclusive lens. "I was sitting there with my coffee when it
dawned on me I actually had to this." So she did. That morning, Emme began creating the footprint

Unrealistic Beauty Standards
What makes someone beautiful? This striking question has always had a complex answer rather than
simple. Society makes their interpretation of beauty with many standards that qualify for the "most
beautiful people" in the world. America's picture of the perfect lady is extremely thin however full
figured. America's picture of the perfect gentleman is also thin, yet very fit. It's always one thing or
the other, never one choice. The public has their own particular rendition of what beauty looks like,
yet american beauty happens to have a stance amongst the most startling standards. These standards
of beauty that women see each day impact their confidence and self–esteem negatively only to push
them to discover ways to fit into these unrealistic beauty criterias. Beauty standards in America are
ever–changing, but society has yet to absolutely accept the average, everyday woman. Today,
women still feel pressured to be thin but also curvaceous. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Jennifer
Lopez and the OG Marilyn Monroe are women that are idealized for their thin, hourglass figure.
Women who don't naturally have this figure are now achieving this look in other ways that can
manipulate their bodies. In order to achieve a curvy, hourglass figure, women have turned to plastic
surgery, diets, and waist trainers. Ladies are so constrained to resemble the perfect lady that they
will do whatever it takes to accomplish a trendy look, yet have they gone too far? Brooke Erin

following "The girls who rock our styles are adventurous, inspirational and badass. A Nova Star is

Critique Of A Grimm Memory Study

to the passage prior to this experiment.
Materials
Prior to participation, participants signed the informed consent form (see Appendix A). The
participants then received two short passages that were separate parts of the Grimm Fairy Tale,
"Tales About Toads" (see Appendices B and C). After reading each passage, participants were

What Are The Arguments Against Plus Size Models
How often have you heard about plus size models appearing on high end magazines? In today's
society, there are many stereotypes and misconceptions, people overgeneralize a certain group, but
the reality is that often times these groups are not as perceived. Society puts labels on others based
solemnly on a person's differences from one another. Many people come up with ideas about them
by what they hear from others. One might pick up a certain belief towards a group of people based
off of what they have been told. Stereotypes are created false information based upon people's
aspect that causes others to judge swiftly. The use of stereotypes is commonly used every day. Plus
size models are being stereotyped every single day based upon their image. Perhaps someday the

The Multi Store Model And The Working Memory Model
"Memory is our ability to encode, store, retain and subsequently recall information and past
experiences in the human brain" (Luke Mastin,2010). In this review I am going to focus on the multi
store model and the working memory model, which explain in detail how memory works.
The multi–store model (MSM) of memory by Atkinson and Shiffrin (1968), explains that the
memory is made up of three different stores. These are: sensory memory (SM), short term
memory(STM) and long term memory(LTM). This model explains how each store works in terms of
encoding, duration and capacity.
The SM obtains the information from environmental stimuli through our five senses which are
touch, sight, smell, taste and sound. In SM the encoding is either visual, auditory or haptic; duration is
¼ to ½ seconds and the capacity is all sensory experience(McLeod S.A,2007). Attention is essential
for the information to transfer to the STM, otherwise it is lost through decay. The information in the
STM is mostly encoded acoustically. The diagram below shows us how the information is
transferred from one store to another.
According to Miller 's Magic number 7 (1956) most adults can store from 5 to 9 items, therefore
STM is known to have a capacity of 7+/–2 items and a duration of up to 18 seconds. The
information in this store can be lost through displacement which is replacing the old information
with new ones or forgetting it (decay). There are two types of rehearsals. Maintenance rehearsal is
not effective

work flow (Business Dictionary, 2012).
A lot of the work will consist of analyzing, testing, and modifying. This is why a CPAF contract was
used instead of a fixed–cost contract because it is difficult to predict actual costs. A company would
put themselves in a bad situation to have a fixed–cost contract if the costs where more than the
contracted amount (Murphy, 2009, pp. 24–7). As with any project, there will always be costs or
expenses associated. The type of expenses will always depend on the type of work or project. Some
expenses that will be associated with this contract are direct and indirect costs. Direct costs are costs
that can be totally identified with or traced back to a particular product or service. Those costs are
materials, labor, or expenses related to producing the product or service. Indirect costs are not easily
traced back to a particular product or service, or can be involved with other products or services in

This model was developed by Tom Peters, Robert Waterman and Julien Philips with a help from
Richard Pascale and Anthony G. Athos in 80s and even now haven't lost its relevance as
management planning tool. Model presents 7 key elements of the company such as: Structure,
Strategy, Skills, Staff, Style, Systems, and Shared Values. The main point of the model is that all the
seven areas are interconnected and a change in one area requires change in the rest of a firm for it to
function effectively.
As we may see above all elements are connected in the particular way: Strategy, Systems and
Structure together are called "Hard Ss" the rest – "Soft Ss".
The model can be applied to many situations but, mostly such framework is used in order to:
To facilitate organizational change.
To help implement new strategy.
To identify how each area may change in a future.
To facilitate the merger of organizations.

kind of changes have already been implemented by new board of directors. ... Show more content on

Short Essay On The Lincoln Lost
Even though the opening was only a few metres across, it was over three metres deep. At least that's
what they were able to estimate once the light came on. Light? Once Lincoln saw the light at the
bottom, he wasted no time in jumping into it. He could see that it emanated from an opening at the
side. This had to be a tunnel of some sort and possibly an exit. The long drop was a little tricky and
Lincoln was lucky not to have twisted an ankle, but he was on the bottom. Milyn and Adhra were
now both starting to wonder just how they were going to get him out again, as he was too far down
to climb out himself. "I think this goes!" Lincoln said, pointing to the opening at the bottom, where

became more intense as well. He was struggling to hold his position. Strangely he did not feel any
heat as one would expect. Lincoln gave up trying to figure what was causing this. It was clear to him
that this light, whatever it was, prevented him from moving forward. He just focussed on
maintaining his ground. It was all to no avail, though. The light increased in brightness again and
this had the effect of pushing Lincoln back. He had nothing to grip onto as the walls were very
smooth. He moved slowly at first, then as it increased, his speed backwards increased. It was like
being caught in a hurricane without any wind. Milyn and Adhra were watching from the top. They
could see the light becoming more intense. It was now a very bright beam in the bottom of the hole.
So much so that, they could not see the bottom clearly. Then they began to hear movement. It
sounded like Lincoln was getting buffeted against the side of the tunnel. All of a sudden, Lincoln
came bursting out the tunnel, crashing into the side of the hole. It looked like a human cork being
popped out of a bottle. Lincoln grimaced as he hit the wall. Normally he would bounce off it and fall
to the floor. However, the beam of light kept him plastered against the wall. With his eyes still

22 = 109 I asked Madison if she had seen equations like this before and she said that she had. I
asked her if the equations would have the same solution. Madison said that the equations would not
have the same solution because w and n could not be the same. She further explained that the
solutions could not be the same because w and n were different alphabets. Although Madison was
very firm in her statement, her nonverbal movements (i.e. nodding her head and tapping her finger
as if she were counting) led me to believe that she was trying to determine a solution for one of the
equations. I asked her if she would like an equation with smaller numbers and she said "yes, please."
So, I wrote 2x + 1 = 7 2w + 1 = 7 and asked if the solution would be the same for both equations.
Madison again said the solution would not be the same because the letters were different. After a
few seconds, Madison then added that the x would be three because two times three is six and six
plus one equals seven. I then asked what the w would be. Madison responded that the w could be
three also, but one of the equations could not be true because x and w could not be the same.
Madison was firm in her belief that the solution would not be the same because the letters were
different.

An Report On The Retail Company, Abercrombie &Amp; Fitch Essay

  • 1. An Report On The Retail Company, Abercrombie & Fitch Essay This report is on the retail company, Abercrombie & Fitch. I will discuss what they are known for and how they provide a safe working place for their employees, vendors, and customers. I will discuss their hiring practices and minimum requirements. I provided a SWOT Analysis of their employee– employer relationships. I will discuss the controversial issues they have faced regarding ethical behavior with their employees. Finally, I will discuss what I have learned from this company and what I would change or continue doing within their business. Abercrombie & Fitch (A&F) was founded in 1982 by David Abercrombie and Ezra Fitch in New York City (1). Mike Jeffries was the CEO for 22 years, until he resigned in 2014 following eleven consecutive quarters of sales declining; thus, A&F is being overseen by Arthur Martinez, Jonathon Ramsden, and Fran Horowitz (2). Abercrombie & Fitch currently has 62,150 employees (1). A&F is a retail store T–shirts, shorts, denim jeans, shoes and accessories. Their style was more of a basic and casual look. They have a store called Abercrombie kids, which sells exclusively to boys and girls. They also have another store called Abercrombie & Fitch, which sells to women and men. They market towards young children to young adults, but are now targeting more towards the 18–22 age group (1). Abercrombie & Fitch is best known for their basic T–shirts with their logo placed across the chest and the denim jeans. They are also known for their marketing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another benefit of having a multi–payer contract is the statutory requirement covering 2–5 fiscal years (10 USC 2306b). Some of the advantage of using the multi–year contract for the company includes higher profit potential, little control by the government, less financial audit and defined specification. There are some disadvantages including risk assumption relates to financial and technical assumptions. The government would have the advantages of risk shifts to contractor, simplifies budget process, no responsibility of management and defined work specification. One of the disadvantage for the government is the prices always contain some contingencies. DUI would use this fixed price proposal because it would mean the contract expands more than one year and funded with annual appropriation that would be a profit and growth for the ... This wish can come true with the information in the article The Power of Successive Relearning: Improving Performance on Course Exams and Long–Term Retention. This passage talks about the importance of practice tests and spaced study. The combination of both of these techniques is called successive relearning. Successive relearning for use in college will build a stronger long–term memory of the material and promote better grades on exams. Two experiments were performed to test the effectiveness the techniques used in successive relearning. Experiment 1 tested student performance on exams using self–regulated practice and restudy–only versus successive relearning. Experiment 2 tested student ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By simply eliminating any distractions from the studying environment a college student can greatly increase performance on tests and the span of long–term memory. I will use the information from this study for my college learning by studying without television or radio noise and use flashcards to retain information. • 7. Procurement Contract Assessment Paper Procurement Contract Assessment Dayne Dickson, Scott Giles, Ronald Fletcher, & Dale Bierman Bellevue University Procurement Contract Assessment It is essential that project managers have a thorough understanding of procurement concepts, and the contracts that are involved in the practice. This assignment will focus on the types (Fixed Price, Cost Reimbursable, and Time and Material), and subtypes of procurement contracts, and discuss the pros, cons, and the burden of risk of each. At the end of the assessment, (FFP). This a clear understanding of which type of contract is least advantageous choice for the ACME breakroom construction project. Further, the paper will highlight this type of contract is a bad choice, and discuss ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This type of contract is a hybrid of the Fixed Price and Cost Reimbursable contract, in that, the buyer and seller agree on a unit rate such as labor cost. This type of contract will not be considered as an option because it is generally used for staff augmentation, and is not ideal for ACME's construction project needs. The Choice When considering the worse contract type, the team was cognizant of the previous contract failures ACME had gone through in the past. As a company, ACME lacks expertise in demolition or construction, which makes the organization susceptible to risk when choosing certain contract styles. Because of these skillset limitations, (FFP). • 9. Construction Contracts Essay Chapter 4 – Construction Contracts 1. Name and briefly describe each of the two basic types of competitively bid construction contracts. Which type would be most likely used for building the piers to support a large suspension bridge. Why? Two basic types of competitively bid construction contracts are lump–sum and the unit–price contract. The lump–sum contract is when the contractor agrees to complete all work for a pre–determined price including profit and the contract. The unit– price contract is when the contractor quotes work on units separately instead of entire project. Price is based on units of work performed, and cost varies depending on the quantities of units. Building the piers to support a large suspension bridge will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 4. Name two types of negotiated contracts and describe the method of payment and incentive concept. Cost + percent of cost is the method of payment which is related to the cost of the job, the larger the cost of the job the higher the amount of fee that is to be paid by the owner. There is a little incentive to be efficient and economical in the construction but is subjected to abuse. Cost + fixed fee is paid regardless of the variation of the reimbursable cost factor. This method gives contractors an incentive to get the job done as quickly as possible in order to recover his fee over the shortest time frame. 5. What is meant by unbalancing bid? What type of contract is implied? Give an example of how a bid is unbalanced. A bid is unbalanced when some contractors use this method to profit greatly on a project. Contractors do this by changing unit prices of various bid items to the point where the price does not reflect the true cost of those items. The unit–price contract is implied to an unbalancing bid. An example of how a bid could be unbalanced occurs when a contractor uses the method of unstable bidding by overbidding in the beginning of the contract in order to reduce his finances and then will underbid at the end of the project. 6. Why is cost plus a percentage of cost type of contract not used to a great extent? A cost plus, is a fixed–price contract where the contractor paid for all the allowed expenses to certain limit ... • 11. The, Outliers, By Malcolm Gladwell "Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines, practiced every day." (Jim Rohn) Malcolm Gladwell's, Outliers, published in 2008, makes arguments about what it means to be successful, and how one can become successful. Gladwell specifically mentions the "10,000 Hour Rule" which states that anyone who wants to reach a definite level of mastery must perform 10,000 hours of practice until that level is reached. Some believe this rule to be invalid as those who are successful are born talented. Though I recognize that some people are born naturally gifted, I still contend that anyone who wants to become great at what they do, needs to do supplementary amounts of practicing as it utilizes one's potential to the fullest as Gladwell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gracyn, always having relied on her natural ability, was unaware of the hard work and practicing it would take for her to succeed and make one of the teams. She began putting in much more effort, time, and practice. Consequently, she made the Ohio State University cheer team. Success is the initial ability plus the extra practice one is willing to put in to achieve it. Extensive practicing leads to these behaviors becoming a way of life. There's an old Latin saying "Repetitio mater studiorum est." which translates to "Repetition is the mother of all learning." Repetition is the key to proper practice as it is the best way for a person to learn. The more a behavior repeats, it becomes habitual. There is a moment where you become so good at something that you don't have to think about what you are doing, it comes naturally. A basic example of this is tying your shoes. We learned at a very young age how to tie our shoes. We kept practicing and practicing until the point where it doesn't take any thought of what you are doing. Natural talent paired with repetition creates a natural success. Practice is beneficial only if the person genuinely is interested in what they are doing. Raymond T. Hightower, president of WisdomGroup software company states, "The elite don't just work harder than everybody else. At some point the elites fall in love with practice to the point where they want to do little else." Those people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Effects Of Size Discrimination In The Fashion Industry For many years there has been size discrimination amongst the fashion industry. Some companies want to say that women are too big or too skinny. Yet this may be true in some cases, this does not mean that their assumptions should affect who can and cannot model. When fashion industries are picking models, they should consider that not every woman is the same size and their weight, if healthy, should not affect their chances of becoming a model. A new study in the NCA's Communication Monographs discovered that when women, who were hocked up to a heart monitor, viewed images of other women with the same or similar body type to their own. There were more reports of body positivity and less social comparison. While there is more growing awareness of plus–size models there is also starting to be more demand for plus–size clothing in more styles. When a heavier set woman goes to flip through a magazine and all they see is skinny models being portrayed as beautiful and smart, yet this starts to take a mental toll on them. Thoughts of self– discrimination can lead to low self–esteem issues. To help with these thoughts fashion industries have now started putting plus–size women on their runways, such as the Lane Bryant's #ImNoAngle and Dove's Real Beauty campaigns. To say that women who are bigger are the only ones who deal with self–esteem issues is a false statement. • 15. The Importance Of Memory And Short-Term Memory Roger goes to his friend's wedding where he is introduced to over 50 people. Roger's goal at this wedding is to meet new people, and remember as many names as he can. In order for him to get their names into long–term memory, he first needs to get them past sensory, and short term memory. For him to be able to do this, he needs to come up with some strategies to remember these names. He will learn when it is necessary for him to rehearse the names over in his head, group some of them together, or making connections to the names. By testing out these strategies, we will learn how information moves from sensory memory to short–term memory, and hopefully to long–term memory. All information makes it to our sensory memory, but it only lasts less than one second. When Roger got to the wedding, there was probably tons of people in all different outfits, but he will probably never remember any of it. If he were to meet a woman who he thinks is attractive, her outfit could enter his short term memory so he can spot her out later during the party. "If we pay attention to the information in our sensory memory, in information is sent on to the second stage, short–term memory" (Doyle–Portillo & Pastorino 271). The memory will last only about 20–30 seconds when it reaches the short–term memory. Because the short–term memory can hold about seven plus or minus two items, Roger could have payed close attention to the color of her eyes and hair too. Maybe when he leaves the ... McCarthy believes that the plus size label gives majority of women in America the feeling of not being good enough. "Women come in all sizes. Seventy percent of women in the United States are a size 14 or above, and that's technically "plus–size," she told Refinery29. " So you're taking your biggest category of people and telling them, 'You're not really worthy.' I find that very strange," McCarthy said. Why are women being segregated into different categories? The 44 year old, mother of two believes fashion designers should create apparel for all women and do away with labels. "I just think, if you're going to make women's clothing, make women's clothing." Instagram and Snapchat news feeds are flooded of daily exercise routines or meal plans with skinny toned individuals promoting them. It is so rare now a days, to see an 'imperfect' person advertising anything. Instead, we have models with flawless skin, long legs and toned abs. These unrealistic images that we encounter everyday, is what creates out desire to be skinny and perfectly toned, eventually developing a sense of self–destruct. WHY AN ONLINE SCHEDULE MAKER IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TOOL A BUSINESS SHOULD HAVE Creating effective employee schedules, whether manually or via an online schedule maker, is an art form that requires an analytical brain, common sense, and a clear understanding of business goals. Work schedules, or employee schedules, are necessary if work or tasks are to be completed in a well–organized manner. Effective schedules have time and again been compared to good motor oil. When they work as they are expected to, good schedules can actually help businesses to accomplish maximum performance. On the other hand, just like cheap oil, hopeless schedules can practically drive a business to a halt. When employees come to the office without an idea on what to do and when to do it, it affects their morale mainly because they don't have proper schedules to serve their skills and needs and this eventually affects their productivity and career growth. Generally, a good work schedule can be described as a schedule that drives employees to the right place, to the right tasks, and at the right time. Without proper employee scheduling, there will always be conflicts that can create chaos, particularly during peak hours. A good schedule empowers employees to become more productive and in the same way, a good schedule empowers a business to deliver only the best to their customers. A proper schedule also happens to be transparent. This way, employees are not likely to be irritated about particular ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Over several years the thin bodies that are promoted through magazines, movies, etc. are displayed as the 'perfect body'. Very few companies and brands do not use Photoshop or women who are considered plus sized models. The thinness of the models that are promoted is unachievable naturally. Media is a key factor in putting this thought into young girl's minds that they often carry throughout lives. Parents pressure their daughters to be thin and have this "ideal" body because they want their child to fit in with everyone else and to be considered beautiful among others. Peers bully one another because someone might not have this 'perfect' body. The media is what causes parents and peers to think that every girl needs to have this body. If the media were to be more accepting of bodies in all shapes and sizes, parents and peers would begin to feel the same way. Females have too much pressure put on them by media, parents, and peers to have a perfect body. Media needs to be more infl uential in a positive way on different body types. Media is one of the biggest influences in the world. It reaches to almost everyone around the world. • 37. The Effect Of Changing Demand On Kokosing 's Pricing... Introduction Problem Statement This paper will study the effect of changing demand on Kokosing's pricing strategy, specifically when conducting government funded projects. Background Kokosing Construction Company is a large construction firm based in Ohio that primarily conducts highway projects for the Ohio Department of Transportation (Kokosing, 2009). Due to the nature of the projects conducted by Kokosing, the company's pricing strategy is unique since the projects must first be won through bidding. Due to high competition and the nature of the projects, Kokosing essentially uses a cost–plus pricing strategy to determine their bids. Therefore, Kokosing has the ability to alter their price and profit margin for each project. Moreover, this scenario is unique because Kokosing has the opportunity to use the price to their advantage: during low demand they can decrease their profit margin to win bids and gain projects and vice versa during peak demand. Thus, research will be conducted to determine if demand truly does have an effect on Kokosing's pricing strategy and the reasoning behind the strategy. Overview In order to investigate the problem statement, in section 2 the theories of cost–plus pricing and elasticity of demand will be defined and explained in depth. Additionally, section 2 contains the discussion about how each theory addresses the problem statement. Section 3 will contain the research conducted, specifically an overview of the information gained ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Increasingly, however, people are now utilizing platforms––such as content sharing sites, blogs, social networking, and wikis––to create, modify, share, and discuss Internet content. This represents the social media phenomenon, which can now significantly impact how an entire movement is viewed worldwide. It's difficult to comprehend in this day and age that social media could actually produce something positive and worthwhile, considering so much of the discussions are filled with arguments revolving around race relations, political ideologies, and violence. The social media phenomenon has people "plugged in" to twitter wars between celebrities, the latest political sound bites, and hashtags to use against one another (i.e #BlackLivesMatter vs. #PoliceLivesMatter). Yet, through the issues, there are social media platforms that promote positive expressiveness of one's self worth and love. In times of body shaming, scrutiny, and being judged based off of a size on the back of a tag, or the color of your skin, or the lack of makeup one refuses to where, this hashtag promotes beauty acceptances and embraces the differences of every person. The fashion industry has enchanted many minds and hearts over the years. Models such as Naomi Campbell, Tyra Banks, and Alek Wek rose to stardom in the 80's and paved a path for other models of color. Natalie Laughlin and Sophie Dahl did the same for plus sized models; however, not much has changed and the fashion industry has remained predominantly tall thin and white. In Rachel Berry's essay, The Fashion Industry Free to Be an Individual, she is evaluating two shoe ads on how they display the models' personalities. Berry praises these ads because she thinks that allowing models to show their personalities is important because it will let young girls know that they can express themselves and be beautiful through fashion without having to worry about following the trends. I disagree with this in part. I think that before we even consider the idea of ads expressing a model's personality the problem of diversity in the fashion industry needs to be tackled first. Not having a wide array of diversity in ethnicity and body type promotes racial stereotyping and makes it hard for young women to relate to women who don't look like them. Unlike many careers where one is judged upon past job experience and educational attainment, modeling is based off one's looks. The Negative Implications Of The Fashion Industry Americans should eliminate the thought that the fashion industry is high end and advanced because the designers that run the industry creates false and negative portrayals on people, makes models go through unreasonable lifestyle expectations, and cause social issues. The fashion industry is certainly notorious for using heavy image manipulation softwares to portray a "perfect" image. In 1987, Thomas and John Knoll invented photoshop: the world's largest grayscale image producer to the human race. Since then, fashion has been drastically modified because of wrong glorifications of a "perfect" image. As stated in http://p.dw.com/p/1Eibq, Photoshop has revolutionized the art of photo processing. Let alone separates our perception of reality from ideas of "perfect beauty" to media manipulation. The age of the participants ranged from 19 to 26 years (M = 20.70, SEM = 0.27), though the distribution was positively skewed (see Figure 1). None of the participants were familiar to the passage prior to this experiment. Materials Prior to participation, participants signed the informed consent form (see Appendix A). The participants then received two short passages that were separate parts of the Grimm Fairy Tale, "Tales About Toads" (see Appendices B and C). Further, when students performed the jumping jacks, instead of the activity facilitating the desired effect of exercise, it may have been a distraction to the students, resulting in their lack of improved memory after the exercise was prompted. Unfortunately, since the materials used in this experiment were generated by the researcher, and had not gone through a pilot study, there was a ceiling effect present (see Figures 3 and 4). • 65. The Multi Store Model And The Working Memory Model "Memory is our ability to encode, store, retain and subsequently recall information and past experiences in the human brain" (Luke Mastin,2010). In this review I am going to focus on the multi store model and the working memory model, which explain in detail how memory works. The multi–store model (MSM) of memory by Atkinson and Shiffrin (1968), explains that the memory is made up of three different stores. These are: sensory memory (SM), short term memory(STM) and long term memory(LTM). This model explains how each store works in terms of encoding, duration and capacity. The SM obtains the information from environmental stimuli through our five senses which are touch, sight, smell, taste and sound. In SM the encoding is either visual, auditory or haptic; duration is ¼ to ½ seconds and the capacity is all sensory experience(McLeod S.A,2007). Attention is essential for the information to transfer to the STM, otherwise it is lost through decay. The information in the STM is mostly encoded acoustically. The diagram below shows us how the information is transferred from one store to another. According to Miller 's Magic number 7 (1956) most adults can store from 5 to 9 items, therefore STM is known to have a capacity of 7+/–2 items and a duration of up to 18 seconds. The information in this store can be lost through displacement which is replacing the old information with new ones or forgetting it (decay). There are two types of rehearsals. Maintenance rehearsal is not effective ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A company would put themselves in a bad situation to have a fixed–cost contract if the costs where more than the contracted amount (Murphy, 2009, pp. 24–7). As with any project, there will always be costs or expenses associated. The type of expenses will always depend on the type of work or project. Some expenses that will be associated with this contract are direct and indirect costs. Direct costs are costs that can be totally identified with or traced back to a particular product or service. This model was developed by Tom Peters, Robert Waterman and Julien Philips with a help from Richard Pascale and Anthony G. Athos in 80s and even now haven't lost its relevance as management planning tool. Model presents 7 key elements of the company such as: Structure, Strategy, Skills, Staff, Style, Systems, and Shared Values. The main point of the model is that all the seven areas are interconnected and a change in one area requires change in the rest of a firm for it to function effectively. As we may see above all elements are connected in the particular way: Strategy, Systems and Structure together are called "Hard Ss" the rest – "Soft Ss". The model can be applied to many situations but, mostly such framework is used in order to: To facilitate organizational change. To help implement new strategy. To identify how each area may change in a future. To facilitate the merger of organizations. We used this approach in order to determine previous position of the company and evaluate that kind of changes have already been implemented by new board of directors. ... Light? Once Lincoln saw the light at the bottom, he wasted no time in jumping into it. He could see that it emanated from an opening at the side. This had to be a tunnel of some sort and possibly an exit. The long drop was a little tricky and Lincoln was lucky not to have twisted an ankle, but he was on the bottom. Milyn and Adhra were now both starting to wonder just how they were going to get him out again, as he was too far down to climb out himself. "I think this goes!" Lincoln said, pointing to the opening at the bottom, where the light was emanating. The tunnel was no more than a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The light continued to get brighter. As it did so, the force on his face, and now his whole body, became more intense as well. He was struggling to hold his position. Strangely he did not feel any heat as one would expect. Lincoln gave up trying to figure what was causing this. It was clear to him that this light, whatever it was, prevented him from moving forward. He just focussed on maintaining his ground. It was all to no avail, though. The light increased in brightness again and this had the effect of pushing Lincoln back. He had nothing to grip onto as the walls were very smooth. He moved slowly at first, then as it increased, his speed backwards increased. It was like being caught in a hurricane without any wind. Milyn and Adhra were watching from the top. They could see the light becoming more intense. It was now a very bright beam in the bottom of the hole. So much so that, they could not see the bottom clearly. Then they began to hear movement. It sounded like Lincoln was getting buffeted against the side of the tunnel. All of a sudden, Lincoln came bursting out the tunnel, crashing into the side of the hole. It looked like a human cork being popped out of a bottle. Lincoln grimaced as he hit the wall. Normally he would bounce off it and fall to the floor. During the 30–minute interview, Madison discussed her understanding of the equal sign, her work with integers, and her ideas regarding even and odd numbers. When I asked how she arrived at her answer, she indicated that this number fact was something that she had known since kindergarten. I asked her if the equations would have the same solution. Madison said that the equations would not have the same solution because w and n could not be the same. She further explained that the solutions could not be the same because w and n were different alphabets. Although Madison was very firm in her statement, her nonverbal movements (i.e. nodding her head and tapping her finger as if she were counting) led me to believe that she was trying to determine a solution for one of the equations. I asked her if she would like an equation with smaller numbers and she said "yes, please." So, I wrote 2x + 1 = 7 2w + 1 = 7 and asked if the solution would be the same for both equations. Madison again said the solution would not be the same because the letters were different. After a few seconds, Madison then added that the x would be three because two times three is six and six plus one equals seven. I then asked what the w would be. Madison responded that the w could be three also, but one of the equations could not be true because x and w could not be the same. Madison was firm in her belief that the solution would not be the same because the letters were different. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
