A STRATEGY1
Events like Green Festivals can get social media feeds
buzzing with excitement. In order to help you capitalize on
the activity surrounding the festival, we have developed this
guide so you can plan your strategy on promoting your
brand before, during and after the event. This guide
will help you advertise your presence at the festival, show-
case your brand attributes and show you how to build new
relationships that will live long after the festival has ended.
There are many ways to start promoting your presence at Green Festival on Social
Media. If your company already has social media accounts, simply use the
suggested messaging to highlight your participation at Green Festivals. If your
company does not have a Facebook or Twitter page yet, we suggest you create one
to help get the word out.
Decide early on what your goals and objectives are. Are you interested in promoting
a specific product or service? Do you simply want to attract attendees to your booth?
Do you want to use your 100 free tickets to encourage new actions from your
customers like signing up for a newsletter or “liking” a Facebook page? Are you
looking for votes for the Green Festival Brand or Community Award? Develop a
before, during and post show plan that will help you connect with and gain new
customers. Encourage your fans and followers to send out messages that will help
support and promote your brand.
Don’t overload your fans and followers with too many posts. Five times a week is
more than enough. Keep it short. Posts under 80 characters receive 66%
more likes and comments.

IN ADVANCE2Decide early on who will post on behalf of your company. It is always better to have
one common voice than to have multiple people posting in different voices.
Determine what you will post and when. Prepare and schedule as many posts in
advance as you can. This will allow you the opportunity to be fun and spontaneous
during the event. Don’t just promote your products and services, rather share
something interesting about the great people and companies you meet. If your posts
are personal and authentic, you will be able to create and foster new, genuine
relationships from the festival.
CHOOSE
& ENGAGE3You can have great social media messaging, but it will make no difference if no one
is listening. Take the time to research where your audience hangs out and develop
your strategy around those specific channels. Interesting images generate a higher
level of engagement on all social media channels. Be prepared and know what size
photos you will need to post.
During the show, connect with all of your new leads on social media. Follow
interesting speakers and other companies you find intriguing. Don’t forget to talk
about your successes and thank your supporters.
Remember, while social media is a great place to start your relationship, email
may be the appropriate channel for a longer follow-up conversation. Keep in
touch with your new community and stay memorable.

WHAT IS A HASHTAG?
A hashtag is a word or an unspaced phrase prefixed with the number sign " # ."
It is a form of metadata tag. –Wikipedia
Simply put, a hashtag is a way for people to monitor and participate in a specific
conversations. The more people that join the conversation, the better chance it
has at becoming a trending topic. Seek out and join the conversations surround-
ing the festival so you can become visible to your target community.
WHAT IS A MENTION?
To mention someone on social media means adding a” @” in front of the user’s
name. The mention turns into a link and users are directed to the respective
social media page.
