2. Hello, children
Wind up your brains
It’s time for us to tinker with
Our magic clocks…
It’s time for us to tinker with Minas,
Minas the Clockmaker!
It’s time for all of us to pull some
pranks
And play some tricks on people!
3. It’s a dark day! Or rather, it’s a
bright night! The time is half past …
Minas the Clockmaker is having a long
lie-in on top of the minute-hand of his
clockhouse at the Castle of
Knowledge.
4. Ring, ring, buzz, beep … the intercom is
buzzing.
-(Minas) Yes, please?
A strange, squealing, high-pitched woman’s
voice is heard on the intercom.
5. -(Woman / Lady) Blah, blah, blah … come here
quickly to fix my clock … blah, blah, blah …
-(Minas) Coming, coming, my lady. I’ll be there in
half a minute. Please, wait! Don’t worry, my lady!
(Minas answers)
And so Minas, Minas the Clockmaker flew like an
arrow; he flew on his flying banana!
6. -(Minas) Hmmm… I see.
This clock is badly damaged!!!
(And then … he slyly and cunningly looks
right and left, left and right and … he is up
to his usual mischief and tricks!
He turns the hands of the clock backwards;
he bends and crooks the cogwheels in the
clock mechanism.)
7. -Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ah! Ah! Oops! Oops!
What am I going to do now? If they come
into the room and see that I’ve damaged
the clock, I’m in big trouble.
I’ll lose my job, I won’t get paid and I’ll
become bankrupt…
What if I throw it out, over the balcony?
Shall I do this?
8. And …
He left in a hurry.
Was he was stressed and anxious
while leaving? Of course he wasn’t!
Was he sad and worried while leaving?
No way!
9. He went to the castle of knowledge and
lounged on the minute-hand of his
clockhouse.
He took a nap on it.
10. Then, slowly and walking on tip-toe, each and every
man or woman whose clocks Minas had tinkered
with and damaged, came to the Castle of
Knowledge.
11. They all climbed on his clockhouse. They turned
the hands of the clock backwards and they bent
and twisted the cogwheels of Minas’ clockhouse.
And …
12. And the next day, or …
Really, was it daytime?
Or was it nighttime? I’m not sure …
Minas the Clockmaker
deeply confused and troubled
started pacing here and there and
running up and down.
He suddenly stops, looks at his clock
and …
13. -(Minas) Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ah! Ah! Oops! Oops!
What’s the time? Am I going to be in time?
Oh, bother! I haven’t got enough time! What am I
going to do now? My goodness, I’m so busy today
and it seems that I’m running out of time. Phew!
I’ve got loads of things to do!!!!!!
I’m looking for a four-leaf clover, I’m looking for a
lucky clover!
Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!
14. What time is it? I wish a shooting star would fall
and land in my hands.
Ah! Ah! Ah! What’s the time now?
I’m running up and down in search of a rubber that
erases tears.
And I’m also looking for a pencil sharpener for
pointed pencil tips.
Ah! Ah! Ah! What’s the time now?
15. Oh, bother! There’s no time left! I can’t make it!
I’m looking for a tickling machine that makes
people laugh!
16. I must, I must do it in time!
I’ll fly on my winged banana and I’ll start
looking for shiny, glossy seaweeds that
look like ribbons made of silk.
The mermaids usually gather them at
dawn and braid their hair with them.
Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Ah! Ah! Ah!
What time is it?
17. (And so Minas the Clockmaker, has
learnt the hard way. He has been
taught a useful lesson and has learnt
from his mistakes!)
