2. What is Grooming?
 Grooming is the act of luring someone for sexual
benefits, or favors.

3. How do they do it?
 They start building emotional connections with the
victim, and gain their trust for sexual porpuses

4. Signs of Grooming
 Be very secretive, including about what they are doing
online
 Have older boyfriends or girlfriends
 Go to unusual places to meet friends
 Have new things such as clothes or mobile phones that
they can’t or won’t explain
 Have access to drugs or alcohol

5. Consequences
 Here in Chile if you commit this
crime you can go to prison/jail (5
to 15 years in prison)

6. How can we prevent it?
 Help them understand who they should or
should not be contacting.
 Teach your child that people aren’t
always honest when online.
 Try not to be overly strict.
 Ensure you know who your child is talking
to – ask them about friends they may have met
online.
 Show your child that he can trust you to tell
you everything.
