A researcher at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Mark Chae, Ph.D. has spent over a decade specializing in psychology and counseling. Mark Chae, Ph.D. is affiliated with the American Counselling Association (ACA), whose foundation is awarding grants of up to $500 each in response to the ongoing effects of racism and COVID-19. The organization started accepting proposals for grants in November 2020 and closed on January 15, 2021. Specifically, the ACA wanted proposals focused on eradicating systemic racism, alongside those related to COVID-19. Counselors who work with clients affected by discrimination will also receive priority. For applicants to be eligible, they must be an active ACA member and either work as a counselor or be enrolled in a counseling program. They must also have submitted a detailed preliminary budget outlining exactly how the $500 grant would be spent. Teams were also welcome to apply, although at least one member must be actively affiliated with the ACA.
