Key points in integration
“Moving to a country is one thing, and becoming part
of society and adapting to it is quite another.”
“How difficult is Finnish on a scale of 1 to 10? The
difficulty of the Finnish language on this scale is 10.”
“Should Finns be integrated into accepting immigrants
into their society?”
“A stranger becomes familiar, and people’s starting
points no longer matter.”

44. #maahanmuuttodialogit
On employment
“Is a foreign worker a commodity or a human being?”
“They think that a foreigner can’t do the same as a
Finn.”
“Even if you have a university degree, you’re a baby in
Finland. You have to go back to school and start all over
again.”

54. # On the role of the designer
What does the organization do? If they make products, services or public policies, it is very different.
What is the organization's maturity in understanding and implementing design?
Where is your salary coming from? Are you a consultant or do you work within the organization? Are you
in an innovation laboratory?
What is the position? Is the design a permanent or temporary function?
How is your team? Are there other designers?
What is the title or the position in which you work? my description, my title is designer. If I had the title of
project manager, which happens to many designers, it wouldn't be the same.

55. # On the role of the designer
What did you study? Are you a designer that has studied political sciences or sociology? How
far did you go in your studies?
Who are you? Are you in the group to whom the organisation designed for? How old are
you?
How much confidence in yourself do you have?
How active are you in your profession?
What is your attitude? How positive you are as a person?
What are your capabilities?
How much do you know about the job content?
