Activity #1: Tag Galaxy
Our project using web 2.0 tools start here!
Together we will do a research on our country. As you know, Argentina is a country which
encompasses a very wide variety of fauna and flora, and climate - which ranges from
subtropical in the north to subpolar in the south. Throughout this project, we will learn more
about our country using online tools to look, read, write, create, and HAVE FUN!
Below you will find entries which will give you a description of the tools you are going to use,
samples and even videos to guide you across the use of the tool. Enjoy the ride!
Activity:
The first thing you will have to do is to go to http://taggalaxy.com/ and type a word (or tag)
related to the project (ReDiscovering Argentina) in the blank space and investigate on the
interrelated concepts. Then, choose some of the pictures shown in Tag Galaxy and save them
from Flickr to your computer; start getting ready for the second step in our project!
Evaluation:
- You will be expected to enter the site and select from 5 to 8 pictures of our country that
caught your attention.
- After you have selected them, enter Flickr and save your pictures in your computer.
- Show the pictures chosen to your teacher.
- Click on Activity #2 to continue with your project.

Activity #2: Slide
Ready to go on? Let's get to it!
Take the pictures you selected and saved from Tag Galaxy and Flickr and create a slideshow
on http://www.slide.com/.
Add you pictures one by one to the slideshow and then click on the GENERATE button to
watch your presentation.
Then, copy the embed code and paste it on your blog to be viewed by the teacher.
Evaluation:
- You will be expected to use the pictures taken from Flickr (using Tag Galaxy) and
create a slideshow using Slide (www.slide.com).
- Once you finish your slideshow, save it. Copy the embed code provided by the tool
and paste it on your blog to be viewed by your teacher.
Activity #3: Fodey
Fodey is an entertaining tool to publish your text in a funny way!
Enter the site (http://www.fodey.com). In this activity you will have to show the text you
selected in three different ways: as a newspaper article, a talking animal, and a
ninja/wizard text.
First of all, surf the web and find interesting fact about our country that you would like to
share. Once you have the facts chosen, go the tool and type the short text in the white blank
to generate a newspaper article.
Evaluation:
- You will be expected to surf the web and select facts that caught your eye related to our
country which you would like to share.
- You will enter the tool and type the interesting facts in the three different formats
provided by the tool: a newspaper article; a ninja/wizard text and a talking item of our
preference.
- You will have to save the image of the newspaper and copy the embed code of the two
other presentations and paste them in your blog for further evaluation.
Activity #4: COMIC LAB
Finally, the last part of the project!
As your last activity, you will have to create a comic strip! Go to
http://www.professorgarfield.org/pgf_comics_lab.html and make your own comic strip
mentioning at least one fact related to our project (ReDiscovering Argentina).
The first thing you will have to do is to Log In using your first name. Then, click the Comic
Creator button displayed in the dashboard.
Right after you clicked the Comic Creator button, you will be shown a three-panel strip
where you will be able to start editing your comic. There are a number of characters to
choose from (from the Garfield world and others) and dialogue balloons to type the text you
want to include in your comic.
Once you finish editing your comic strip, click the SAVE AS JPEG and the tool will allow you
to save your work as an image. You can either send it via email or print it out to be handed
in to your teacher.
Evaluation:
- You will be expected to use the tool as shown in the previous entries within this blog.
- You will have to include at least one funny fact about our country (Argentina) in the comic
strip.
- You should either save the image to be posted in your blog or print it out to be handed in
to your teacher for further evaluation.
