Some homeowners like their art
undewater, putting in luxury aquariums
with ‘aquascapes’ that re-create a
rainforest or a favorite dive.
In some homes, the priciest design
elements are underwater.
A home aquarium can be an
“interactive piece of art,” says
Dennis Wightman, of Acrylic Tank
Manufacturing, the company featured
on the Animal Planet show “Tanked,”
which this season is putting luxury
aquariums in celebrity homes.
Custom aquariums can be made in
nearly any shape, from traditional
rectangular tanks to three-story
cylindrical ones filled with thousands of
fish, plants and coral.
The more unusual the tank and its
contents, the higher its price. They can
start at about $5,000 for a 10-gallon
tank and reach $1 million or more for
a 5,000-gallon one or larger that has
rare fish. And that doesn’t include
maintenance, which typically is done

JetBlue have teamed up to create a
stunning custom aquarium that has
been placed in JetBlue’s new boutique
crew lodge at the Orlando International
Airport in Florida.
Each individual element incorporated
into the aquarium was intended to
cultivate a soothing environment that
JetBlue crew members can enjoy in-
between their busy flight schedules.
This recent installation at the Orlando
International Airport was not the first for
Living Color; the team also installed a
3,000 gallon cylindrical aquarium in the

to build a unique saltwater aquarium at
his father’s church.
Ten-year-old Benjamin Trevino, who
suffers from a skeletal malformation,
loves the ocean and wants to grow
up to be a marine biologist. Earlier this
year, he made a very special request to
Make-A-Wish. He wished for the stars
of Nat Geo WILD’s “Fish Tank Kings”
to build a custom aquarium at his
father’s church. Ministerio Esperanza
Church, located in Fort Myers, Florida,
is to feature a rectangular 270 gallon,
six foot long saltwater aquarium.
