The CSR HR Checklist is an at-a-glance tool to help HR managers integrate corporate social responsibility (CSR)
and sustainability into the employee experience. Human resource professionals have a key role to play to help a
company achieve its sustainability or corporate responsibility objectives. Employee involvement is a critical success
factor for CSR performance. Human resource managers have the mandate and opportunity to leverage employee
commitment to, and engagement in, the firm’s corporate responsibility or sustainability strategy. The CSR HR
Checklist will help HR managers understand and leverage this opportunity.
The following steps are included in the CSR HR Checklist. The checklist expands on opportunities to foster the
CSR HR connection.
•Vision, mission, values and strategy
•Codes of conduct
•Workforce planning and recruitment
•Orientation, training and competency development
•Compensation and performance management
•Change management and corporate culture
•Employee involvement and participation
•CSR policy and program development
•Employee communications
•Measurement, reporting and celebrating success
These ten steps in the CSR HR Checklist create a roadmap or pathway for human resource practitioners to follow
who wish to contribute to the achievement of their organization’s corporate responsibility, sustainability and
business aspirations in order to improve social and environmental conditions and generate business benefits.
