Mao Zedong was a Chinese politician and dictator who was born in 1893 in Hunan and died in 1976 in Beijing. He was the top leader of the Communist Party of China and founder of the People's Republic of China. Mao served as the Chairman of the Communist Party of China from 1935 until his death in 1976.
