2. What happened
Restrictions on economic activity and traffic, as well as the closure of industries
and population confinement, have allowed a surprising drop in environmental
pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.
This fact will have a positive effect on the health of the people who inhabit these
centres, normally subject to high levels of contamination.
3. China
The first country was China, the largest pollutant worldwide and where the coronavirus
pandemic appeared. The NASA images show that the concentration of nitrogen dioxide
decreased between 30% and 50%. In addition, the Chinese
consume less coal, oil and steel, which has had a favourable
impact in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
