Lystek’s unique; hydrolysis process to Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) can be easily integrated into existing WWTP.
High speed shearing, alkali and low pressure steam are simultaneously applied in an enclosed reactor to transform raw sludge or digested biosolids into a unique, multi-purpose material. The end result is a liquid product that
is rich in nutrients and organic matter but that also remains fully pumpable with conventional handling and application equipment.

Lystek International Inc. (Lystek) was founded in 2000 at the University
of Waterloo, Ontario to commercialize the treatment of biosolids and other
organic “waste”. The Lystek system was developed on the principles of cost
efficiency and long-term, environmental sustainability.
The result is an innovative, patented, low cost solution with multiple
benefits for converting wastewater treatment plants (WWTP’s) into
Resource Recovery Centres.
Lystek’s unique; hydrolysis process is award-winning and commercially
proven with multiple deployments.
High speed shearing, alkali and low pressure steam are simultaneously
applied in an enclosed reactor to transform raw sludge or digested biosolids
into a unique, multi-purpose material. The end result is a liquid product that
is rich in nutrients and organic matter but that also remains fully pumpable
with conventional handling and application equipment.
The system has a small foot print and is simple, modular and flexible. It can be
easily integrated into existing WWTP’s. Capital and operating costs are low
and it can be deployed as an on-site or off-site (regional service) solution.
Lystek is a financially strong company and our customers benefit from
ongoing investments in R & D and business growth.
“The addition of the state-of the-art, Lystek solution
to our WWTP operations is playing a vital role in
contributing to our goal of being a progressive, industry
leader in biosolids management.”

One of the many benefits of the Lystek biosolids and organics
management solution is the conversion of these materials into
a pathogen free, exceptional quality, liquid biofertilizer product,
called LysteGro™. (Class A EQ-US EPA & CFIA-Canada)
Growers are excited and willing to invest in LysteGro™ because of its
predictable NPK values, rich, organic content, opportunities for direct
(sub-surface) soil incorporation and, most importantly, its performance.
Studies and on-farm results have shown that the LysteGro™ product
can be superior to conventional, commercial fertilizers in terms of crop
yields and the preservation and restoration of soil health and fertility.
TYPICAL LYSTEGRO™ FERTILIZER VALUES:
• Balanced nutrient source, fertilizer value >$90 - $100/1000 gal
• N-P2O5-K2O = 30-35-30 lbs/1000 gal, in the year of application
• S 15 lbs/1000 gal, Ca 45 lbs/1000 gal + other micronutrients
such as Cu, Zn, B, Mg etc.
• Agricultural application rates = 3000 - 4000 gal/acre
• Organic matter – approximately 5%
LysteGro™ can also be beneficially utilized in sod farming, golf courses,
horticulture, forestry, reclamation & bioremediation.
