■ A humane education teacher at the Humane Society of San
BernardinoValley, Lynn Hildebrand has spent over 25 years
educating young people about the importance of compassion and
humane treatment of animals. Outside of her work, Lynn
Hildebrand is involved with the First Congregational Church of
Corona, California, where she has taught Sunday school, assisted
with music programs, and served on various boards.
The First Congregational Church is the home of the city’s first pipe
organ, installed in the 1920s.The Robert Morton Organ was
refurbished in 1990 and was recently fully restored.
The first Robert Morton organ was built around 1917. Since that
time, the company’s builder’s plate – the flat, usually metal, label
found on most pianos and organs – has gone through only one
major redesign.
3. Robert-Morton Organ
Company
■ The first plates were made from thin brass, and featured seven
engraved organ pipes across the face, with the company’s
information arranged on top. Smaller instruments were fitted
with a slim black and silver plate with a simple, sans-serif font,
and stamped with the item and model numbers.
In 1923, a shield-style brass plate replaced the organ pipe
design. Some of the later plates in this shape displayed the
company’s logo, a reverse R and M within a circle in red above
the written information identifying the organ name, company,
and factory location.
