OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE AND EMBEDDED SYSTEMS

Open source software adoption in the embedded systems domain is gaining growing interest within
the European industrial and academic communities. Despite it represents the key towards flexibility,
cooperation, cost reduction and increased competitive industrial advantage, it is not easy to assess
and evaluate Open Source software quality, thus making industries still skeptic about its integration
into proprietary solutions.
This workshop aims to bring together researchers and practitioners from different fields, in order to
boost the revolution towards Open Source in the embedded systems domain. It will be a stimulating
forum for fostering collaborations and discussing current research initiatives on this topic. Speakers
from several International research bodies will bring their experience. SHARE results will be
discussed, along with the embedded systems roadmap of the next future.
