A studio indent is the logo for a particular company, these are split into two categories which are “majors” and “indies”. Studio idents
can offer fascinating insights into the studio themselves and are often laden with interesting trivia. Some idents have evolved over 100
years into all-singing, all-dancing variants you see before movies today.

2. “MAJORS”
Major studio idents are the world famous logos you will
normally see before a movie starts e.g. Warner Bros
They are subsidiaries of a dominant company

3. “INDIES”
Indie studio idents are not as known as majors and are
more likely to appear in less famous movies e.g.
Wonderland.
Independent from a conglomerate.

4. PARAMOUNT
Paramount is a major studio ident that uses a big mountain
above the clouds as its logo. Just like other majors this has a
very captivating logo and this is used to symbolize their
dominance within the film industries.

5. UNIVERSAL
Similarly to Paramount, Universal symbolizes their dominance in
the film industry with the world behind their name. This shows the
audience that Universal is a international company with great
success.

6. OPTIMUM RELEASING
This is an independent British company that is
independent from a conglomerate. The shape in the
middle symbolises it’s edginess compared to major idents.

7. VERTIGO FILMS
This is another independent British film company. The red
background and bold letters shows the audience that this
ident stands out from the others and it doesn’t need a big lion
or a world in its logo to be successful.
