Outline of Research Not - For-profit - vs. - Profit Hospital Medical institutions are considered to be the most respectable place to work. The tasks that doctors perform, from surgeries to breaking any bad news, requires respect for life. But over the time, with the establishment of private hospitals, it has become a matter of debate that which is better: For-profit or not for -profit hospitals ? This paper reflects my opinion on the same. I believe that for profit hospitals are better than the not for -profit hospitals . I will discuss the economical, technological and motivational aspect of the for profit hospital ’s management to support my view. Monetary benefits: • For profit hospitals can pay their doctors well and thus they don’t have to worry about basic necessities like food and home. • They can raise funds from investors easily. Technological benefits: • For profit hospitals have better amenities, operating tools and laboratories. • The profit made is used in upgrading the technology used which improves efficiency. Motivational edge: • Doctors are motivated by the comp eti ti on driven market. • The remuneration also keeps them enthusiastic. • For profit hospitals are bound to obey laws of economics which g ives them freedom in their jobs. It is always better to work on return of investment basis as it does justice with one’ skill. Making profit from the hospital should not be misinterpreted with greed. In the end the profit is utilized towards the betterment of hospital and eventually people. Reference: 1.
