Tall Tale: A tall tale is a story with unbelievable elements, related as if it were
true and factual. Some stories such as these are exaggerations of actual events.
Other tall tales are completely fictional tales set in a familiar setting. They are
usually humorous or good-natured
Legend: Legend, for its active and passive participants includes no happenings that are
outside the realm of "possibility“. Many legends operate within the realm of
uncertainty, never being entirely believed by the participants, but also never being
resolutely doubted.
Myth: A traditional story, especially one concerning the early history of a people or
explaining some natural or social phenomenon, and typically involving supernatural
beings or events.
