2. Event Description
This was Schindewolf Intermediates Orchestra’s 2nd concert of the year.
Usually most of the families of the students attend this Christmas Concert.
Admission was free but only families and students of the school knew about the
concert or were invited.
3. Schindewolf Intermediate Orchestra
Schindewolf Intermediate School,
which is in the Klein Independent
School District, They began in August
of 2002. The Orchestra program
started with only 59 student, that
were divided into two classes. The
orchestra program continues to grow
each year, currently 200 students are
enrolled in the 6th-8th grades, plus 60
5th grade students. The program
continues to thrive with the support of
the parents, and involvement of the
students.
Today the orchestra class are divided
into 6 orchestras:
Beginner Orchestra
Concert Orchestras Navy and Silver
Intermediate Orchestra
Philharmonic Orchestra
Symphony Orchestra
Chamber Orchestra
4. Deck The Halls
This was one of the first songs played
by one of the students who happened
to be my little sister Kennedy.
This one of the many times that she
has had a solo in her school concerts.
Musician played Deck The Halls on a
cello.
I would rate this piece of music well
not just because she is my sister. But
because it was a all around great
piece for a 14 year old to play and
seems to be a sort of hard song to
learn on the cello.
5. Rudolph The Rednose Reindeer
This was another one of the great songs
that one of the students played. Not
knowing this student I would say that
they did a great job playing this piece of
music.
A Lot of these students had solo
performances which to me shows that
they must have done a great job while
learning this piece of music in order to
get that solo performance.
I would definitely rate this performance
highly because a lot of these performers
range from 12 to 14 years old. And being
23 year old adult i couldn’t imagine
trying to learn how to use on of those
instruments.
6. Christmas Bits And Pieces
This is one of the last performances that
one of the students did. Which was not
one of my personal favorites but I still
think that they did a great job executing
the performances of the song.
This was as well a solo performance
which must mean that this student must
have earned this stop in the Christmas
Concert.
I would rate this performance lower than
the other performances not that the
student was a bad musician but the song
selection. To me it was to many holiday
songs mixed into together. I could barely
identify what song that the student was
playing.
7. Santa Plays The Viola
This next song was very different it
wasn’t a classic christmas song that you
could recognize. But this did not change
the quality of all the students
performance.
A different performance indeed not just
of the song choice but of how they
performed the song it was not a solo
performance but a group performance
which I really enjoyed.
I would rate this performance lower than
some of them but higher than most. Only
because it was the entire orchestra not
just a solo performance. And the only
thing that I did not like was the song
choice. But the students did a great job
executing the performance.
8. Silent Night
The best performance of the night
that the entire orchestra put on this
night. Being a classic holiday song
most of us in the crowd knew which
song it was.
Again this is one of my favorite
performances of the night great song
and great execution of the song by the
students.
I rate this performance a ten out of
ten because they did such a great job
with this performance. Getting to
enjoy the entire orchestra play one of
my favorite holiday songs.
9. Conclusion
I have personally been to many of these orchestra concerts these past few years.
But all of them were with the whole orchestra not just the cello players. It was
different but it was great to show the talent of these students. I took several
audio clips of these performances but these were just a few that I chose to use in
this project. I would definitely like to go to other concert similar to the way that
they did this concert it was different but it was great. It was great for the school
and teachers to be able to show the talent that many of these students have.
