Demographics’ and Presenting Problem:
A 42 year old Caucasian male whose name is George Jung, who is recently
divorced and released from prison, client reports that he has lost custody of his daughter
Kristina Sunshine Jung and is having relationship problems with her and would like to
obtain custody of her. In my opinion George Jung’s presenting problems are drug and
alcohol addiction, failure to integrate to society as a contributing member, and an
imbedded fear of being poor. All these problems intertwine together and create a cause
and effect. This fear of being poor stems from childhood and results in the
client’sbehavior of smuggling marijuana and cocaine to obtain mass amounts of money.
Smuggling drugs gave him access to mass amounts of cocaine that supported his
addiction and caused his incarcerations.
Background Information:
Family History:
George Jung is the son of Fred and Ermine Jung. He grew up in a working class
home in Massachusetts. At age 10 his father had to file for bankruptcy and he states that
he never wanted to be poor from that moment on. The client claims that him and his
father have a close relationship but him and his mother have an estranged relationship.

2. Jung, George
Jung states that when he was young that his mother would leave for periods of time when
money would get tight but would always return; his father would welcome her back with
open arms, he really loves her he claims.
George Jung is recently divorced, his former wife’s name is Mirtha. He has a nine
year old daughter named Kristina Sunshine Jung who he states is his “heart”. George’s
marriage started to turn south when all his assets at the Panamanian government bank
were seized he claims. The client’s lifestyle went from upper class to working class
within a minute he stated. Mirtha took custody of and also filed for divorce while the
client was incarcerated.
Education:
George Jung is a high school graduate.
Legal/ Criminal:
Jung states that in 1968 when he moved to Manhattan Beach California he began
dealing and smuggling marijuana to make a living. In 1972 in Chicago Jung got caught
trying to import 660lbs of marijuana, he was sentenced to two years, he skipped bail to
take care of his girlfriend Barbara who died of cancer. The client reports that while hiding
from the authorities he went to visit his parents in Massachusetts and his mother, Ermine,
called the police on him and arrested him, and was then sentenced to 26 months in
Danbury, CT federal prison. In 1976 George Jung started smuggling cocaine after being
in Danbury prison. In 1977 the client went to Columbia and met Pablo Escobar and he
claims he became the number one importer of cocaine. At Jung’s 38th birthday party that
Mirtha it was raided and Jung was arrested, after his sentence Jung was a fugitive on the

run avoiding the court date. The client states that Mirtha causes him to become arrested
while driving and was sent to jail for three years.
Employment:
Client does not have any employment currently.
Social Relationships:
Currently the client does not have contact with any of his old connections. Client
is working on his relationship with his daughter by walking to and from school.
Medical:
Client reports having a heart attack while his daughter was being born due to a
drug overdose.
Mental Health/ Substance Abuse:
Client started using marijuana in 1968 when he moved to Manhattan Beach, CA
then started smuggling it. In 1976 Jung started using cocaine and importing it to the USA
from Columbia. By the time his daughter was born he was snorting five grams a day, the
toxicity level of cocaine is 1-1.5g for a normal human being. Client reports that once he
snorted 10 grams all at once.
Strengths:
George Jung has quite a few strengths that he can build on to make him a
contributing member of society. He is resourceful, creative, has leadership qualities;he is
determined, ambitious, tactful, decisive, and loyal. The client was using these qualities in
the wrong direction before, towards smuggling drugs, now he can use these qualities
towards making a better life for him and his daughter. I believe one of the aims is to let

the client discover these strengths and show him how to use these in a positive manner. If
the client continues using his strengths in a negative manner then he will continue down
the path of incarceration and wont be with his daughter and will never be able to get
custody of her.
Assessment:
George Jung needs to work on his drug and alcohol abuse to insure he continues
on a positive path and reaches his goal of custody of his daughter and a relationship with
her. I also would recommend working on his fear of being poor and having acceptance of
where he is at the moment. If he can’t have acceptance of where he is at the moment then
he will never be satisfied with himself and might return to old behavior.
