The document discusses the rationale for choosing the title "Paranoia" for a student film project. The main character Amelia Patel is cautious and paranoid, similar to the protagonist in "Halloween Resurrection." The title is meant to intrigue audiences and fit with the forest setting, which can seem intimidating. The narrative involves Amelia and her friends filming for a class project in the woods, where Amelia begins seeing a figure from her nightmares. Her friends dismiss her concerns until she captures the figure on camera. They then split up, with Amelia using the camera for lighting and point-of-view shots. Elements like fast editing and an unsettling soundtrack will be used
2. Why I chose the title Paranoia
The reason I chose paranoia as it fits the role of one of the characters (
Amelia Patel) who essentially would actually be the main protagonist.
Amelia Patel is also the cautious one – I found this concept in
Halloween Resurrection where protagonist was the one who was the
worried and cautious one amongst her peers, and her peers essentially
lead her into trouble with psychopath Michael Myers.
Also I chose the name paranoia as its powerful and entices the
audience to actually want to watch the movie.
The title paranoia would also go well with the mise-en-scene as i
would be filming in the woods, and woods are usually a large and
intimidating place – and it potentially scares people.
3. Narrative
Seth, Dorian and Huey are filming in the forest for their A-Level Film
Studies coursework. They convince the girls to come with them, after school
to film, as because the boys need more people they encourage Amelia the
cautious one to film them.
Amelia already has doubts about filming in the woods, but is persuaded by
Dorian, they take a break, in which Amelia starts telling Sonya about the
nightmares she’s been having, Sonya laughs but comforts her.
As they start recording again she identifies something in the woods moving
around, as she zooms in she spots the psycho she's been seeing in her
nightmares which makes her scream.
Huey attempts to restrain her and eventually Seth start mocking her scared
ways. Dorian takes the camera and tries to spot what she has seen but don't
find anything, the camera is given back to her, and as she records again the
same thing happens. Eventually they split up,
Amelia takes the camera to give her an advantage in terms of lighting and
what she can see and this is were the POV shoots will be used.
4. Trailer
Looking at other horror trailers, I been able to essentially pick up a few
ideas, such as editing technique.
The editing in horror trailers are quite fast pace, as it increase tension, the
directors also use this as the view has inadequate information on what’s
going on – and this can also be linked to the gratification concept.
In my trailer many shots would be Point-Of-Views therefore attempting the
place the audience in the shows of the protagonist, this is also a method used
in Cloverfield & Paranormal activity.
Sound also plays a major role in horror trailers such has an individual
panting, the essentially this could be used to signal something going wrong
e.g. A black screen but something breathing heavily.
The idea of my trailer due to limited resources with feature fast pace editing,
a soundtrack which would play at the beginning and the use of lighting.
5. Props
• Fake Blood – this is used in many horror movie, this is a cliché.
• Video Camera to create Point of view shots
• Trees/Grass – nature is a prop as it has to be selected to be appropriate.
• Long coat for the psychopath – the long coat would be used to create a sense of
Authority and superiority on the psycho

packed in the bag.
• Glasses – Dorian and Amelia wear glasses
