I live in ward #28; it is Toronto center-Rosedale.
Ward #28 Population 66585, Couples without Children 47.9%,City of Toronto
Couples without Children 33.5%.I think Children can help stabilize their emotions, the
family is the foundation of social stability. My ward number of loving couples less than
the city.

people of my ward easy learn and master skills.

5. I have been resident in the neighbourhood 8 years ago.
5. What do you think are the most significant challenges in the neighbourhood right
now and who is most affected?
I think there are too many poor people live in this place, the poor people
should read books and have more access to education and improve their skills
in order to change the overall appearance of the area.
6. What are the good things about living there for you, your family and the people you
know?
I like Cabbage town festival. In its 39th year, the Cabbage town Festival of the
Arts celebrates Cabbage town’s diversity by giving attendees an opportunity to
purchase items from local artists. The free festival features pottery, paintings,
jewellery, handmade soap, one-of-a-kind clothing, local food, non-profit groups
and more. The festival aims to promote local artists and businesses in the
Cabbage town neighbourhood.
7. Are there particular groups of people that you think do not get the support that they
need and deserve? (If so, describe whom, what the issues are, and what you think
needs to be done to address the issues.
I think the Chinese elders have a social problem, because the elderly do not
understand English, and afraid to go outside contact with the community. So, The
community should organize more activities, the elderly should need go to class
learn English, they also change the concept of trying to adapt to society.
8. How would you describe your neighbourhood –
a. What are its distinct characteristics?
My neighbourhood is Cabbage town. Cabbage town is one of Toronto's
most popular neighbourhoods. Its residents come from a wide variety of
backgrounds; however they all share a strong sense of community spirit and
pride in their neighbourhood.
b. What are its distinct strengths?
My neighbourhood is home to many artists, musicians, journalists and writers.
Other residents include professors, doctors and social workers, many
affiliated with the nearby University of Toronto. Proximity to the financial
district and downtown core have also made the area popular with other
6. professionals such as lawyers, management consultants and those in
financial services.
9. What has your experience been since coming to your neighbourhood? What has
gone well? What have the challenges been?
I have held the elderly Chinese New Year party. The elderly are very happy,
also lifted their feelings of homesickness. However, only the Chinese people to
participate in this party, I find a way to let other ethnic groups also came to the
party for me is a challenge.
10.Where do you and people you know go for information, for support, for advice?
200 Wellesley communities center can help me and other people for
information, for support, for advice.
11.Do you feel accepted, welcome and have a sense of belonging in your
neighbourhood?
I have a sense of belonging in my neighbourhood. I like join party, I like
speak to people, Sometime I go to 200 Wellesley communities center join
activities.
12.What kinds of programs and services do you and your family use? Could these be
improved and if so, in what ways?
I and my family join LINC programs. I think LINC programs need teach daily
English to help people easy adapt to society.
13.Are there particular types of programs and services that you would like to see for
yourself or people you know?
I like to learn the skills types of programs and services , for example, sewing
programs, computer programs. IWIP program that I would like to see for myself
and help me understanding Canada.
14.Are there things that you would like to see happen for you, your family, for your
community, that you would be interested in working with others to achieve? For
example, after-school programs like language classes or homework clubs, starting
businesses together, etc.
7. I think Homework Help is free, real-time math tutoring by certified Ontario
teachers available to students in Grades 7 to 10 in all English-language school
boards.
So, my friend joins in this program help his children learning English and do
homework.
15.If so, please describe them. What kinds of information and other things would you
need and want in order to get started?
I think parents need to know the teaching objectives, parents should know
teaching requirements. How can parents help their children learn at home? So, I
want to organize an informal discussion with their parents, everyone together to
discuss what to do parents in Canada, I would like to learn from others educate
their children approach.
