The Akron Baptist Temple began as a small Bible study group in 1934 led by Dallas Billington. Within a year, the church was formally organized with 80 members. Today, the Akron Baptist Temple has over 17,000 members and occupies a large complex in Akron, Ohio, with an annual budget over $1 million. Akron Baptist Temple has over seventeen

enormous six wing, seven million dollar
complex at 2324 Manchester Road, Akron,
Ohio. With an annual budget of over a million
dollars, the church has organized over two
hundred Baptist churches across America and
overseas.

have joined Dr, Billington. Each would echo with
Dr. Billington that the reason for success is God
and His Word. For the Akron Baptist Temple
gives high priority to the Bible. This success is
reflected in Dr. Billington's oft quoted proverb, "I
didn't write the Bible; I simply read it, preach it
and teach it."
