The Akron Baptist Temple began as a small Bible study group in 1934 led by Dallas Billington. Within a year, the church was formally organized with 80 members. Today, the Akron Baptist Temple has over 17,000 members and occupies a large complex in Akron, Ohio, with an annual budget over $1 million. The church attributes its success to prioritizing the Bible and its teachings.

2. • The Akron Baptist Temple began as a Bible
study group in June 1934
• Dallas Billington a young baptist preacher,
preached the Word of God to 13 people in
Rimer School in ohio( it becomes 6,000)
• Billington was a lay Baptist preacher who
worked in the Goodyear Tire and Rubber
Company.

3. • On Easter Sunday, 1935, less than a year after
the first meeting, the church was formally
organized with eighty members. Today the
Akron Baptist Temple has over seventeen
thousand members, and occupies an
enormous six wing, seven million dollar
complex at 2324 Manchester Road, Akron,
Ohio. With an annual budget of over a million
dollars, the church has organized over two
hundred Baptist churches across America and
overseas.

and His Word. For the Akron Baptist Temple

reflected in Dr. Billington's oft quoted proverb, "I
didn't write the Bible; I simply read it, preach it
and teach it."
