Involving good internal communication and matrix management, with an ability to manage internal and external project stakeholders and proactively problem solve. Responsible during this period for taking a failing project valued at >€3M and following re-structuring and discussions with the client was able to ensure over-delivery of the project within the original time-frame, resource and budget.Responsible for project management and change management activitiesStakeholder management within high-profile programmesEvotec-OAI/Evotec (UK) Project/Group Leader, April 1999 – June 2005 Recognised as a proactive and capable trouble-shooter. Demonstrated during this period a strong ability to focus on successful delivery of underperforming projects. Responsible for turning several projects from loss-making into profitable and successful collaborations, as well as the implementation of new procedures to improve efficiencies. Responsible for operational change management on 4 long term projects during this period valued between €2M - €25M (approx.), all of which were for world leading pharmaceutical companies, as well as additional responsibilities on my own programs during the course of some of these changes. Proactive change was required due to the substantial fall in the value of the US dollar during 2002/2003 to ensure projects remained profitable.Significant stake-holder management experienceProven ability to effect operational and project change managementProject 1 (European based 2 year project)Project had been operational for approximately 6 months and had delivered ~20% against expectation at that time. Following collaboration with the responsible person, team re-structure and client discussions we were able to initiate a project correction plan, which ensured successful delivery of the project within 2 years as expected.Project 2 (Global 2 year project)Similar scenario and was successful in implementing change and removing a blame culture. Client continued to work with Evotec for a further 5 years following the successful completion of the first program.Project 3 (Internal procedural change)A project which was responsible for 40% of the revenue for Evotec OAI at its inception was reliant on the analytical department to be successful. They had been unsuccessful in establishing the required procedures within the required time-frame. Myself and a colleague dissected the processes required and proposed the procedural changes to ensure throughput within the department increased by over 300%.Project 4 (US based 5 year project)First year of this project saw only 66% completion against expectation. A full review of all project processes, across all departments, was implemented, finally resulting in 128% delivery in year 2 and 100% delivery on average across years 3 – 5. Project value was $33M. Due to the substantial fall in value of the US dollar during this period significant operational project change was necessary to maintain an appropriate margin.Project 5 (European based 2 year project)After 6 months the project had failed to deliver against its targets and was threatened to be removed at significant cost to Evotec. I was responsible for ensuring the project delivery was improved and the client could see an appropriate plan was in place to ensure on time and on budget delivery by the end of the 2 year period. Project value was €3M.Oxford Diversity/OAI (UK) Senior Scientist, November 1997 – March 1999 Joined Oxford Diversity directly from University and worked on projects with US and UK based pharmaceutical companies, specifically focusing on library synthesis. Responsible for the establishment of the processes and procedures Evotec continued to use in the preparation of libraries until the business was re-located to India in 2007. Following a successful project with a European based pharmaceutical company I took further responsibilities for other programs, which are described above.EDUCATIONBSc(Hons) Chemistry – the Manchester Metropolitan University (1991 – 1994)DPhil (Chemistry) – the Manchester Metropolitan University (1994 – 1997)PUBLICATIONSSeveral publications based on academic work, and also named in several patents during my time at Evotec.Available on request.<br />
