Essay On Why I Love Art
Although I have been drawing for a majority of my life, it wasn't until recently when I realized just how much I love art. Art was my method of
self–expression and creativity, creating a doorway for my imagination to explain its intricacies. I love art because of its ability to express emotions,
moods, and stories.
Stories are a large aspect of the artist in me. As someone with an extremely vivid imagination, stories are my way of expressing thoughts, coping with
problems, and bringing a bit of adventure into a routine life. I can create the personalities, strengths, flaws, and motives of many diverse characters that
change the corrupt fantastical world they live in. Through art, I draw out these characters' designs, emotions, and storylines, ... Show more content on

I used pencil in order to create a high contrast with the shadows and highlights and I used colored pencils and pen to create both subtle colors and
a surreal effect. I am also influenced greatly by the stories I watch. My mandala art piece is filled with themes from the show RWBY, which is
about a young girl and her team of friends battling monsters and corruption in a dangerous, but unique world. RWBY inspired me to take a more
fantastical approach to my story, building a world with its own laws, countries, and history. I made this piece into a mandala in order to expand
into different art styles. With the radial design I created a type of abstract symbolism, something I rarely have done in my art before. Some of my
art pieces aren't inspired by stories, however. In my observation piece, I drew a flower that has been in my house ever since I could remember. This
flower represents home for me, always giving off a familiar vibe and a nostalgic feeling of comfort, security, and safeness. I used colored pencils in
order to learn realism through color because before this piece I had only ever drawn grayscale art pieces. Finally, my second student choice art piece,

Short Story
There once was a boy named Mac, Mac didn't have any friends outside of school because he was always to shy to ask other children with and his
family was too busy to notice. He was so bored sitting around with no one else to share his life with. Nothing to do, no one to do it with. He was all
alone just playing in his basement, watching the occasional television. It was miserable.
"Hmmmm I need a friend, a companion, a pet maybe?" he asked himself. Right away he went to the pet store to get this big, chubby bulldog. When
he let the dog off it's leash it bolted for the nearest exit, whilst trampling on Mac. The dog was long gone and he wouldn't ever see it again. Mac
thought, "Maybe dogs aren't my style, I bet that dog and I had nothing in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"This is going to help you move around," Mac said saying it as if it were a real person. Mac got a roll of electrical tape and strapped the Roomba to the
can. The can started to move and Mac cheered with joy.
"What shall I name you?" Mac thought aloud
"I found this on the web for lists of famous robot names" the Alexa robot said as he started to read them out loud. Baymax, Wall–E, Cosmo, the list
went on.
"I will name you... Max!" Mac stopped Max abruptly. The next day Mac and his new friend Max walked to school. Yesterday Mac had shoved a
bunch of things into the can to help him at school, a paper shredder, magnets, pencil sharpener, and wifi antenna for use of his cell phone at school. At
school his teacher was asking math questions and Max was in his bag when she asked,
"What is 293 x 462?"
"135,366" Max answered in a muffled voice. "Who said that?" the teacher asked? "I did..." he sighed as he braced himself to be yelled at. "Very good!
You're correct!" she answered and didn't get mad. Mac felt like he had dodged a bullet and during recess all his friends and kids he didn't even know
wanted to see his robot. It moved around in circles because the roomba probably was trying to find dirt on the pavement.
"Can I touch it? What is that? Did you make it?" asked all the kids while trying to catch it as it scurried across the floor.
"No, no, and no" I answered as all the kids' smiles turned into frowns.
"Maybe a little actually..." I

The Railroad Bride Analysis
Consider the painting The Railroad Bride, Argenteuil by Claude Monet. This artwork looks simple, but uses geometry and one point linear
perspective. Monet uses a sense of opposition is created by the alternating rhythm of light to dark established by the bridge pillars and the color
orange and blue in both water and smoke from the train above. The light and dark areas given the picture asymmetrical balance between the dark
and light areas. Monet uses one point linear perspective to create the bride. He uses proportions in the relationship between the parts of the object
and the whole object by using geometry. Monet uses grid like geometry. The wooden structure support under the bridge is the same overall structure
of grid and diagonals. Other lines are the apparent in the two diagonals as well as opposing directional lines of the train and the boat. The smoke
shows direction of the wind and that the boat is moving that way as well. The visual weight/balance of the sail boat is smaller than the bridge. I
believe the focal point is the new bridge for the train and new travels was is focal point in the picture. The asymmetrical balance of the composition
8–1: Explain way the following mediums evolved in time. The evolving in paper went through a lot of phases. Before the 15th hundredths paper
was expensive. Paper was not made in the Western world until the 13th century in Italy. Before then it was made out of fiber from scraps of cloth.
Another way a form of paper was made is from papyrus and parchment which was invention of the ancient Egyptians sometime around 4000 BCE
and was made by pounding and pasting together strips of the papyrus plant. Parchment was popular by the Romans after the second century BCE, but
was used as paper many years before that. Paper arrived in the West through trade and which had learned the process from China originally.
Papermaking was introduced into the Arabic world sometime in the 18th century and had a thriving book trade. It was not till a gentlemen from
Germany that invented the printing press that books became wide spread. Due to the large amount of cloth rags need, paper remained an expensive till
the middle of the 19th century when wood pulp was discovered. This in

The Invention Of The Love Sharpener
image source Before 1894, pencils sharpeners were big and heavy, so carrying it about was a big issue. Some were mounted on the walls of a class
room, while some were placed on the desk, despite the fact that these old school revolving sharpeners looked super cool and perplexing, they were
cumbersome. A travelling writer or student couldn't carry it about.
African–American inventor John Lee Love changed the way we see pencil sharpeners in 1894 when he invented the "Love Sharpener," the portable
hand wrenched sharpener that peppers a lot of student's backpacks right up till the present day.
According to history, John Lee Love was a black American carpenter and inventor. He was best known all over the world for inventing a portable
pencil sharpener known as the "Love Sharpener", named after him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is estimated that he was born some time amid the recreation time frame between 1865 to 1877. Love in his later days worked as a carpenter in the
community of Fall River, Massachusetts.
He applied for a patent for a portable pencil sharpener in 1897. His application determined that his invention was an "enhanced gadget" that could
serve as a paperweight or trimming. The design was straightforward, including a hand wrench and a compartment to catch the pencil shavings. In John
Lee Love's creation, the pencil is put into the opening of the sharpener and pivoted by hand. It was referred to conversationally as the "Love Sharpener."

Creating Text Essay
Creating Text
The process of creating "text" without using technology appeared to be a simple task that would allow the students to be a creator of his or her unique
technology free masterpiece. I just had to come up with a creative, natural way to write text instead of using modern technologies that society takes for
granted. How hard and restrictive could this assignment be? I soon found out everything would not go exactly as planned. It took me two attempts and
failures before I finally achieved some level of success.
My first idea came to me while I was getting ready one morning. Why not use hair to create text! It is a natural part of the human body that is constantly
growing, natural and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I could use the juice form smashing up raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries to create natural paint. I purchased all the berries but
I still needed something to create my text on. I was looking for a piece of fruit big enough to display my text when I discovered the honeydew
melon. The surface of the melon was hard and smooth which would operate as a perfect canvas for my fruit paint. The only part of my creation that
would not be completely natural would be the paintbrush, I would have to use this tool since my finger or a stick wouldn't work. After I smashed up
all the fruit, I used a paintbrush and dabbed it into the juice then wrote what was supposed to be an "A" on the surface of the honeydew melon. Once
again, I reached another failure. The juice form the smashed up fruit barely showed up on the melon, even though the melon was light in color, the
juice wasn't thick and dark enough to be legible. After two failures my motivation and enthusiasm was depleting. I was becoming frustrated and
annoyed with the assignment and all the ideas I had up until this point.
My third attempt turned out to be successful but was more restrictive than I thought it would be. After racking my brain trying to develop creative
ideas I realized I needed to focus on completing the assignment, meeting the requirements, and keeping the already complicated task as simple as
possible. A new element I hadn't considered now

My Experience Of Art
Since elementary school I have envisioned my life deeply intertwined with art, however, at the same time I also knew that vision never had me
living out the stereotype of a starving artist either. As a child my understanding of artist in the work force was nothing more than the clichГ©
vision, of a paint covered artist smearing vivid hues on a canvas and then rushing to the nearest art gallery to sell their work. I didn't know anything
of the vast opportunities for artist or even how abundantly art is used throughout our society. Maybe this was due to the fact I was never one of
those kids who know what they wanted to be since they were three. Nevertheless, I always had a passion to create, even when I was determined to
become the next Thomas Edison, I was looking for an outlet to create. By the time third grade would roll around though, it would be made evident that
art in its most traditional since of drawing and painting would be the outlet I was always looking for. Understanding my niche in the creative world
would take me over a decade of self–evaluation, inspiration, and research.
I never started out saying I was going to be an artist, I still did a child's fair share of doodles and finger painting but it was never anything that
raptured my attention. However, this would all change on Christmas Eve, when my grandmother presented me with a book entitled "How to Draw
120 of your Favorite Things". Now the title was not the most original approach, the book's cover made up

Writing with Technology Essay
Writing with Technology
The task was seemingly straightforward; create a piece of writing without using a single form of technology. I didn't think this would be much of a
problem. I figured I could hand–write something instead of typing it or using a word processor and that would meet the requirements of the project.
However, according to Dennis Baron in his essay From Pencils to Pixels the pencil is, in fact, a form of technology. Evidently, it was invented "by
joiners, woodworkers specializing in making furniture, to scribe measurements for wood" (Tribble/Trubek, 42). Adding further to my obstacles, paper,
being a created object, was not an option as well. This was turning out to be harder than I thought. After I pondered and... Show more content on

For the base of my project, I arranged rows of sticks that I would tie together with the vines. I tried to pull the vines apart to make them easier to tie
with, as I had seen Tom Hanks do in the movie Cast Away, but I was unable to tear a strip that was much longer than the length of my finger. The
vines, also being quite slippery from the juice inside the stems, would simply not allow me to get a very good grip on them. Foregoing the vine idea, I
decided to try and pack dirt on top of the sticks to create a forced base. Although the dirt was moist, it still wouldn't pack well and kept cracking and
crumbling.
After laboring to press grass stems into the dirt, while picking up the pieces of mud that were accumulating at my feet, I finally got the first word
imprinted with the grass and was finally ready to put the berry stems in it to make the word stand out against the black of the dirt base. When I
plucked the berry from its stem, a deep red juice oozed onto my fingertips. The idea struck me like a lightening bolt! I could use the berry juice as ink
and write on one of the pieces of wood I had gathered from the yard. I suddenly felt very foolish for not thinking of this much simpler project earlier. I
took a piece of bark and used it as a bowl and smashed four berries onto it with the end of a stick. I then took another piece of bark and on it wrote,

Deprivation In Middle School
Holding a grudge against someone would sometimes make situations worse than they already are.
In middle school, I had a friend who did not have a lot of materialistic things everyone else had, clothes, shoes or jewelry, a fancy cell phone.
Sometimes you would see her wearing the same shirts. A lot of people would say she used to steal from friends or clothing stores or from grocery
stores, in general, I would have to say this lesson taught me a lot. You never know what someone is going through. "it is better to forget than to
forgive" well I beg to differ. On the first day of school Michele sat beside me in Economics class I noticed she did not have any of her things. No
books, pencils, pens, a notepad, she just did not have anything it was just her. In my head, I started thinking "oh she's one of those students that
comes to class unprepared and expects to copy off everyone's paper" well she was not copying off mine. Class started and she asked for a pencil, I was
going to give her one of my mechanical pencils but I knew I was not going to get it back so I gave her one of those wooden pencils that no one
uses they were just sitting in my pencil pouch taking up space anyway so why not? To my surprise, she did her work but she never turned it in for
some strange odd reason though. We were doing a group assignment but we were required to have our own answers I would check her answers from
time to time and they were all correct, one day the teacher pulled me aside and asked

Descriptive Essay About Art
Art is a form of expression that I could never abandon in my life. I became an artist at a young age, and I can still remember the day art came into
my life like angel sent straight from God. It was my first time watching my Pops draw a portrait. It was around noon on Saturday in the summer
because the 'noon' heat was almost unearthly. However the vibe in our small two bedroom apartment was absolutely groovy and cool. Pops was
playing the oldies from the 70's. " Sweet love, my sweet love you'll be crying out my name", I heard as the talented Anita Baker filled my home's walls
with even more soul! He was drawing a self portrait. The detail in the drawing was so hyper realistic. At the time I did not know that it was a self
portrait. I thought it was just a black man with his hands placed both sides of his head as if inside he was going crazy inside. My pops hands moved
so smoothly as if each finger had a tiny brain in the tip where the pencil touched. I was around 8 years old at the time. From that moment I knew I
would want to be an artist, because that type of expression seemed best for my dad. I always paid attention to the early teachings from the big guy. The
cleanliness of the lines that my dad had , it almost seemed as if he was a surgeon of the paper. He would start with this blank piece paper and hours
later it would become a piece of his life , and in some ways it would become a major part of mine. Pops handed me a wooden number two pencil and a

Enabling Physics 1 & 2 – Investigative Research Assignment
Question:
What is the relationship between the percentage of Graphite (Carbon) in a lead pencil and the electrical resistance of the graphite in the lead pencil?
Hypothesis:
The prediction is that a higher concentration of Carbon in a pencil will produce a lower resistance due to Carbon being more conductive than Clay
produced in lead pencils.
Figure 1: Details of pencils used in the investigation. (2015). Enabling Physics 1 & 2 – Investigative Research Assignment. 1st ed.

Magnificence By Estrella Alfon
Pedophilia remains a growing issue in our society. Strangers tend to take advantage of young children brought by their innocence and vulnerability. Not
only are the youth victimized and traumatized, but the parents of the children are deeply affected as well. Estrella Alfon's "Magnificence" depicts a
mother's battle against male abuse, which manifests a reversal of gender stereotypes and woman empowerment.
Estrella Alfon is one of the most prominent writers in the country for she is recognized to write about the feminist movement. The male population is
known to have a dominant status and role in our society. Therefore, women and children are usually the main characters and victims in her short stories
for this reflects the marginalized roles of women in the patriarchal culture among the Filipino citizens.
In her literary work "Magnificence", the short story revolves around 2 major characters namely Vicente, a bus conductor, and the next one is the mother
of the two children. The story begins with a characterization of Vicente and he was described as the man that one should not... Show more content on

Vicente thought that the little girl deserved more thus he gave her a red, yellow, and an additional white jumbopencil. The pencils play a significant
role in the story as this was used to gain the enthusiasm and trust of the children. The colors of the pencils also have symbolisms in the story; the

Inventing A Writing Technology Essay examples
"Inventing" A Writing Technology
According to Walter Ong, an influential scholar of the relationship between technology and media, "Literacy is imperious. It tends to arrogate to itself
supreme power by taking itself as normative for human expression and thought. This is particularly true in high–technology cultures, which are built on
literacy of necessity and which encourage the impression that literacy is an always to be expected and even natural state of affairs" (316). Ong would
probably agree that literacy is so embedded in our current technological culture that it has become part of the standard of living, a necessary requirement
for functioning in this highly professionalized world. However, the point of Ong's prior statement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Portability was described as the extent to which the text could be moved or carried. Nature referred to the extent to which the materials used in creating
the text and/or writing surface were found in nature and not manufactured or highly processed. During this experiment, I tried to consider what
completely natural materials I could find. I resorted to using materials found in my backyard including rocks, dirt, sand, sticks, grass, and leaves. The
permanence criterion of the assignment narrowed my choices by eliminating writing in the dirt, sand, or mud or with grass or leaves. Wind or rain
would erase any writing created using these materials. The issue of portability further narrowed my decision to use a small, hand–held, sharp rock to
scrape or chisel words into a larger stone which was able to be carried. The stone needed to have a writing surface large enough to chisel words but
not so large that it could not be easily transported. All in all, inventing a technology which was creative was somewhat of a problem when considering
permanence and portability and was overlooked as a criterion.
Although the solution to the assignment may sound easy, the creation process was actually very challenging. One reason may be that "Oral speech is
fully natural to human beings in the sense that every human being in every culture who is not physiologically or psychologically impaired learns to
talk" (Ong, 322). In U.S. culture, oral speech and writing are

Crayola Pencils
Prismacolor is a well known and well liked brand of media in the art world. It has a variety of media to choose from, however in this assignment we
shall focus on colored pencils. One of Prismacolor's top competitors is Crayola, who you may think has a monopoly in the art market, preceded by
Dewernt and Fabercastle. There is much that goes into choosing a colored pencil beyond the number of colors available from the line in question.
For example and artist will look for a brand that produces quality pigmentation and value. If a colored pencil can create dark lines with little effort
as well as faint lines it is a good choice. The Prismacolor pencils can do that with no problem so can the Crayola pencils to a degree, but there is a
slight difference in value from the pigmentation agent in the pencil themselves. Both brands offer a variety of colors and shades of these colors. That
is where the parity ends however.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

blending and shading have 150 shades and colors, and the Verithin or detail pencils have 36 colors to choose from (Prismacolor). The pencils
themselves are made of differing quality materials and therefore are different quality altogether. Crayola colored pencils just do not have the same
blending capabilities or pigment quality as Prismacolor. They have a hard time blending at all to be honest and no shading ability without damaging
the paper. Variety is the spice of life and Crayola is severely lacking

Abstract
Here we report the fabrication of a flexible all carbon field effect transistor (FET) using a low cost, recyclable and biodegradable cellulose paper as both
substrate as well as dielectric and pencil graphite as source, drain, channel and gate without using any other expensive, toxic or non–biodegradable
materials. The electron and hole mobility's of FET are observed to be 180 and 200 cm2v–1s–1 respectively which are comparable to the recently
reported values of paper FET with polymer dielectric and cellulose composite dielectrics. The FET was utilized as a strain sensor which shows good
sensitivity for low strains of both tensile and compressive type. The mobility of the FET increases with increase in compressive strain and decreases
with increase in tensile strain. The sensitivity of the FET sensor increases with the increase in the gate voltage.
HERE YOU CAN MAKE A COMMENT ON HOW THIS STRAIN SENSOR IS BETTER THAN SILICON STRAIN SENSORS IN
PERFORMANCE.
Further we investigated the performance of the sensor by integrating it with hand gloves to detect human motion. The results obtained indicate that the
sensor can be utilized

My Experience In My Life
When I was younger, I oftentimes found myself with a pencil and paper in my hand. I would leave a multitude of marks on the paper in some form
or fashion, whether it be scribbles, unvarying words and sentences, my name, or the names of family members. Growing older, I would find myself
writing more than enough when it came to essays. I could never bring myself to leave out any details and I rarely used simple sentences. Originally, I
assumed it was because I wanted the validation of my parents and teachers, but it was something else I had yet to realize. I liked writing and I realized it
one day when I was in my room, listening to music.
In my youth, I was passionate about school and learning. This was partially due to my parents' desire of me achieving anything I put my mind to. It
was mostly because I loved the fact that I was attending school. I remember my mother and father always saying, "Do your best no matter how hard
it gets. Even if you don't get the correct answer, you can always say you tried and that's all we ask of you." Being human, we make mistakes and get
things wrong from time to time but with my childlike innocence, I imagined my parents would be disappointed if I would get an answer wrong. They
quickly reassured me that mistakes happen and you can't be right one hundred percent of the time, so there was nothing for them to be disappointed
about. They then taught me how it was normal to make mistakes and nothing I did could disappoint them because of their

Analysis Of The Poem ' I Am I 'm Charlotte Wasserman '
Hello, I'm Charlotte Wasserman, and today I will be sharing my journey in poetry writing. I began to love poetry in the sixth grade. I had never
written that much before, but I discovered that I get this inspirational feeling when I write poetry that I never get in anything else. Sometimes my
poems seemed good from the start; some I knew needed a little help. I think some of my best poems were revised over and over. Just remember, I 'd
rather have a rough draft in the beginning and have a great piece at the end than to never write or try at all!
Let 's talk about imagery; imagery is a skill in poetry writing. I have grown in my ability to show imagery this year, and I think I 'm great at this skill. It
makes the reader form a picture in his or her head. So, I have two pieces that are nothing alike, except they show how imagery can be used in separate
ways. Imagery is an important skill that all writers should know of. It can make every creative piece 100 percent better. This first piece I 'm sharing
today is not the best, but you will listen to the difference and growth between my first and second piece. My first piece I 'll be reading today is called

Why Drawing Is Drawing
A person can have many skills, whether it be good or bad. Someone could paint really well or could be a disastrous cook. There are many common
skills such as doing underwater handstands and then there are skills that are absolutely out of the blue, for example bending their index finger
backwards down the wrist. My skill isn't too common though it isn't very unique either. My skill isn't painting or cooking, or even having strangely,
stretchy fingers. My skill is drawing. Drawing is one of my passions, because it is a good stress reliever and it can help express emotion. Drawing is
very useful for when I'm upset and need something to boost my moralemood and is comforting for just a normal, rainy day activity. I especially
draw especially when I'm bored or trying to pass time. Some people agree, and find drawing fun, but others may find it frustrating or boring. I enjoy
drawing because it lets me work at my own pace. I casually sketch, whether it be for a novel or just a plain doodle, I find a way to maneuver it into
random pieces of work. I could be working on notes, and sooner or later have a mural on the sides of the paper. This is funny considering that when I
get an actual sketching pad, the sketches look horrible, but on a sheet of scratched up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will admit, drawing is hard when you first attempt it, but drawing is made up of building blocks. You start out with a pencil sketch, and start
adding new edits and textures to make it more and more vivid and detailed. I don't usually color drawings because they look better to me in mono,
but that gives me a chance to make the tiny details in the drawing a lot bigger. Drawing may come as a gifted skill to some people where they can

Kim : A Old Girl That Comes From A Family Of 6 Children
Background: Kim (a pseudonym) is a five and half year–old girl that comes from a family of 6 children. Kim has three brothers–ages 14, 6, 8–and two
younger sisters–ages 4 and 3. In addition to her own family, Kim is currently living in a domestic violence shelter with seven other families in an
urban neighborhood. Kim's mother is a 30 year–old Caucasian woman, originally from Pennsylvania and her father is of Latino descent and was born
in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Based on my conversations with Kim's mother, the six children do not speak Spanish (though it remain unclear why this is
the case). Kim and her two younger sisters attend a Head Start Preschool in the neighborhood. Based on my observation of Kim, she appears sociable,
friendly, knows how to follow directions, and is self–regulating. As a result of my previous observations, I believe of all of her siblings, Kim is the
most aware and engaged with her surroundings. For example, she enjoys having conversations about school, her activities, and family with the shelter
staff. She also does not hesitate to ask questions about her environment with anyone. Because of Kim's open–minded with working with others, I
believe this helps her gain a better understanding of her surroundings. Lastly, it is important to highlight that Kim at times struggles with pronouncing
words due to missing two of her front teeth. Context/Creation: With this study in mind, I decided to conduct my study on May 25th, 2016 in the

The Test Narrative
I can't fail this test. I have to do well on this test. I have too.
My day had been off to a rough start. In the morning, I was late to the first period. I fell twice during that period, and once during passing period. It
was only second period, and I could not stop thinking about how I had to take the ACT test tomorrow morning at 8. I was shaking and sweating all
day. I really wanted to do well on the ACTs. I was pretty sure I was qualified to take the test. However, I was not prepared to take this test. Honestly, I
shouldn't even take this test. Everyone says I'm not sharp enough to take this test. They say there are better options out there than me. They're always
saying how I'm always too dull and don't really have a point here.

My Personal Experience : My Experience In My Life
When I was younger, I frequently found myself with a pencil and paper in my hand. I would leave a multitude of marks on the paper in some form
or fashion, whether it be scribbles, repetitive words and sentences, my name, or the names of family members. Growing older, I would find myself
writing more than enough when it came to essays. I could never bring myself to leave out any details and I rarely used simple sentences. Originally, I
thought it was because I wanted the validation of my parents and teachers, but it was something else I had yet to realize. I liked writing and it hit me
one day when I was in my room, listening to music. As a child, I was passionate about school and learning. This was partially because my parents
wanted me to achieve anything I put my mind to and mostly because I loved the fact that I was attending school. I remember my mother and father
always saying, "Do your best no matter how hard it gets. Even if you don't get the correct answer, you can always say you tried and that's all we ask of
you." Being human, we make mistakes and get things wrong from time to time. With my childlike innocence, I thought my parents would be
disappointed if I got something wrong, but they reassured me that mistakes happen and you can't be right one hundred percent of the time. They then
taught me how it was okay to make mistakes and nothing could disappoint them because they had unconditional love for me. So of course, they helped

She sang 'Humpty Dumpty', 'Ring of Roses' and another song that her grandmother had taught her from Nigeria. However when I asked her to do
a small activity which involved small muscles she became quite and relaxed. From both these activities that I asked her to do, It showed that she
has two ways in which she can behave; a calm way when involving fine motor skills and energetic way when involving gross motor skills. Hilary
showed her demanding and quiet jealous personality when her younger sister would come over and try to join in with the activity that I was
doing with Hilary. Her temperamental side showed when she slouched off with her arms folded, I then had to go and convince her to play another
game so she would be happy again. Also after we had been playing for a few hours she became a bit irritable and tired, and started to be bossy and
greedy telling me that she 'can do it herself'. that made her become easily bored and distracted as well. By this time it was time for me to go home, I
told Hilary that I had to go so she cam and gave me a hug. That showed that even though she was irritable and tired she was still affectionate enough to
give me a hug before I went. Family Background Hilary is one of two siblings, her younger sister is called Chanella. Hilary is 1 year and 2 weeks older

Descriptive Essay : Sketching Out Trouble
Sketching Out Trouble As a teenager growing up, I was exposed to unexpected events in my life. I did not have anyone to stand by me through
this journey, but one day I stumbled along a number 2 pencil. I chose to keep the pencil, and use it as a blessing that was given to me. "Please
bring Reshmi Singh to the Vice Principal's office immediately." A deep voice came outside of my first period class. As I sat my handbag down aside
my assigned seat. "Slam!" The metal door of the classroom flew open. The campus security rushed me outside the classroom, and into their golf cart.

I was roaming around the campus with a piece of white paper that had my new classes printed on it. The first class on my list was Art 1 with Ms.
George. I assumed in this class is all you do is pick up any color crayon, and doodled a picture just for fun. However, this class was not as I expected to
be. In class, Ms. George was going over the syllabus, and passing out the art supplies for the students. She wrote every student's name on the ziploc
sandwich bag to hold our supplies. She had given us a a grey kneaded eraser. With this eraser you were able to squish, smash, and transform it into an
odd shape. Another supply Ms. George handed to us was a wooden, yellow, number twopencil, labeled "Ticonderoga" in green print. As Ms. George
passed out the pencils, she announced, "Class do not misplace this pencil, this will be your best friend in art and in life."
When she made that comment, I rolled my eyes thinking she was over exaggerating about a simple number two pencil. Most of the time, I was
scribbling down notes, from left to right on the paper, not having any breaks for my right hand to rest. In art class, I was taught different ways how
the pencil was used. The important rule was how you held the pencil in your hands. When holding onto the smooth feeling of the pencil, determine
how much pressure to apply on the paper. Such as pressing delicately, thin, light lines will appear. But pressing on to the surface with force, the lines
will be bold, and dark.

Types Of Pencils, Mechanical And Non Mechanical
In human history, there have been numerous inventions that made our daily lives easier. One of the most significant inventions is a pencil. a thin,
sharp–pointed device that is used for writing or keeping a record of events or information of any kind. Writing on a whiteboard using a marker
illustrates writing or drawing patterns on a piece of paper. There are two types of pencils, mechanical and non–mechanical. In spite of the fact that a
mechanical and non–mechanical pencil share one most important material that produces shapes or writings when pressed with pressure or rubbed
against a paper, they differ in the way they are used and the materials they are made from. Non–mechanical pencils are often made of wood, whereas
most mechanical pencils are made of non–wood materials, such as plastic, metal, and sometimes a mixture of both. Since a mechanical pencil is
complex, it is the main emphasis of this text. In general, any mechanical pencil has five primary components, namely lead, intermediate lead tube,
knock button, barrel, and clip (U.S. Patent No. US20110229245).
The principal component of any mechanical pencil is lead. According to Tavares, Paulo Henrique, Campos Prado1 Barbeira, and Paulo Jorge
Sanches, "It is made by dispersing natural graphite into a mixture of organic binder and spindle oil followed by a thermal treatment" (p. 827). In

My Writing-Year Writing, Reading, And Writing
Written word and reading came to me in the way oil is introduced to a cup of water, a sudden disagreement. I have never Liked reading or writing,
but in 6th grade I began to truly despise it. I was always a math and science person ,but I knew could write a well versed and attention grabbing story

wrong. The description of my 6th grade year is what conjured up my decision to change that. This is the year I buckled down, and I told myself
that this will be the year I become a better reader as well as a better writer. My 6th grade year began at Fulton Leadership Academy in East Point
Georgia, with it being a new school I went in to the year thinking "this year will be a breeze", but little did I know the hills and valleys that were
destined for me to rise ,but also fall. My Teacher's name was Ms.Hicks, she was a nice lady but she was all about business. She loved to read, no
matter what genre. The expectation from the beginning of the year was made clear that we will be reading stories and writing about them all year
and that we will master writing about the novels we havve read.. The year went by day by day till I was assigned my first paper. Of course I can write,

This forms a runny slur which is packed into cylinders were the lead is shaped into pencil cores. Once the pencil cores are extruded out of the packing
cylinders they are passed through a dye which allows the lead to take on the shape of a pencil lead. The pencil cores are left to dry in 1800 degree
furnaces to ensure all traces of water are out of the lead. While the furnace stiffens the lead, the wood working area fabricates the pencil shell. First
a saw cuts eight grooves in a slab of cedar which will hold the graphite cores. The cores are glued into one slat and covered by another forming a
sandwich. This block is then cut into a hexagonal shaped pencil. The pencils are then sanded, painted, and fitted with a brass eraser holder called a
ferrule. The final step to the process is fitting the pencil with the eraser itself which concludes the production process.
In addition to an intricate production process, the number two pencil requires different continents and cultures to cooperate and bring materials
together from across the world. The four core materials required to fabricate the pencil are graphite, cedar, metal, and rubber. The first material,
known as the California cedar tree, is produced in the Pacific North West. Its straight grain qualities making it ideal for smooth sharpening. The
graphite, on the contrary, is mined in China and Sri Lanka. These raw materials are later exported to factories. The metal used in

Ashley Sims Drawing
Ashley Sims was born in Arcadia, Florida and studied art at South Florida State College as well as Greenville Technical College in South Carolina
where Sims is currently in college, majoring in art education. The theme of the collection being shown is to show the importance of a well rounded
education when it comes to the field of drawing. The importance of this theme is that each drawing is an example of a different concept of drawing,
Though multiple concepts are sometimes included in the same drawing there will always be a main focus that teaches a new lesson and learning these
is imperative for any artist. The media used on these drawings are graphite, charcoal, ink wash, and prisma pencil. Project one, is of an orange. Sims
follows this theme by experimenting with mixed media. She uses graphite, charcoal, and ink wash as well as 11 media processes in the creation of
this piece including, hatching, cross hatching, scribbling, tortillion marks and many more. This project is used as a preview to all the processes that

Sims wanted this collection to be used as a way for prospective artists to see and understand some of the most important concepts of creating a
drawing. The drawings of this collection are objective, every mark was intentional and the meanings behind the images are not complicated. Her
idea was to show how to create a drawing rather than to make the viewer guess how to do it like they would with subjective art where nothing is
definite. Overall, any drawing that is created will have at least one of the concepts shown in this collection. It does not matter whether the image is
hundreds of years old or will not be created for another hundred years. To be a successful drawing, it will have to contain at least one of these

The Geography Geniuses Generated 3 Behaviorist Theory
Everybody learns in different ways, including the students sitting in the classrooms. How are teachers going to be able to make sure every student
learns? Maribel, Julianne, Michelle, Matthew, and Ana are Geography Geniuses and are here to advise how to ensure that every student learns.
Focusing on the 3rd grade standard SS.3.G.1.1, students will use thematic maps, tables, charts, graphs, and photos to analyze geographic information.
The information being taught is declarative because students will acquire factual knowledge and information that can be spoken about at any time. The
activities utilize hands–on and drill methods with the objective that if students are shown a blank map they will be able to recognize and recall all
elements of the map automatically. Lastly, they fit into the remember and understand levels of Bloom's Taxonomy because students will remember
locations on the map and later understand different information and landmarks embedded in states. With all this in mind, the Geography Geniuses
generated 3 behaviorist and 3 constructivist activities that allow the students to learn and practice geographic locations.
The first activity my third grade students will learn is a constructivist activity, which promotes active learning and learning by doing. It derives from
constructivism one of Piaget 's theory it is defined as the view that meaningful learning is the active creation of knowledge instead of a simple transfer
of objective knowledge from one person to

Technology : The Advantages And Disadvantages Of...
Technology has changed how people learn over the years. It has affected how things are taught, and how they are received and processed by the
students. Teachers could post any information on a specific website that the instructor provided and the students can view and reply to the post.
Students used to have to bring home a textbook every night, but with the modern technology, they can log onto an online textbook. There are some
instructors who believe that pencil and paper are slowly dwindling down into nothingness. Other educators believe that technology has helped benefit
their student's education and don't worry about pencil and paper.
Technology has its advantages and disadvantages in the classroom. Compared to the positive effects, the list of negatives are nowhere near as long.
Some of the negative effects include not paying attention in class, not being on task, or even playing a game in the middle of a lecture. Wolpert says
that "As technology has played a bigger role in our lives, our skills in critical thinking and analysis have declined, while our visual skills have
improved". This means that students are paying more attention to technology and visual stimulants than books and worksheets. They would rather look
up the answer than do the work themselves. "In other words, kids need to be taught when to stop clicking and start thinking more carefully.
Increasingly, teachers are equipping students with means to evaluate websites rather than taking them at face

My Passion For Art
Everyone at some point in their lives found themselves doodling on the side of their paper or on a napkin at the local restaurant. For me, this
doodling did not simply stop as I got older, but instead festered my curiosity and encouraged me to continue on. The very moment that my interest
in art peaked was when I noticed my mother sketching a portrait of one of my younger sisters. After that, I began to try on my own. That trying
was often times led to me failing more times than not, and giving up hope in myself. Throughout life I began to notice the world around me and
the different people that were able to create beautiful works of art on their own, so I began to draw once again. This lead to art becoming a major
part of my life and allowing me to get more involved in so many different opportunities that I could not even fathom being a part of before. My
passion for creaticity was inspired from the very early ages of childhood where I would simply sit and watch my mom, to me having my very own
experience with it, and now being able to partake my interest and pursue it further. I had always drawn on the side of my papers in class or on the
pages fancy restaurants would give you to keep you occupied while you waited. That was just something that every child did, nothing that anyone
would expect to continue on today. Maybe I should have noticed something different when I would color in the coloring books at home or even with
my siblings. I loved to color coordinate

My First Year Of High School
It was the year 2014 and summer had come to a close. My mind had suddenly switched from lounging on the warm, sandy beach and being gently
kissed by sunshine to traumatizing, stressful high school. My first year of high school–what was it going to be like? Who was I going to be friends

I had decided to enroll in a class called Classical Drawing by Andrea Mosley. Miss Mosley is an incredible artist, who was taught by John Angel, a
former student of the great Pietro Annigon. She was taught for four years in Florence, Italy and mastered her incredible ability to draw. This
knowledge only made me more intrigued but exceptionally anxious. I didn't know what to expect from such a well–taught artist. I began to doubt
myself even before the class started, assuming I couldn't draw nearly as well as she. The time had come. It was a Wednesday afternoon and I walked

An Ode To The User-Friendly Pencil
Old school conquers new school: A personal response to "An Ode to the User–Friendly Pencil" Technology is upgrading itself and is, perhaps, taking
over the world. From virtual reality to supercomputers, people are depending more on technology in their everyday lives, but is it necessary?
Technology has reached the point where Samsung phones are becoming C4 explosives and 4K televisions do not display 4K quality. In "An Ode to
the User–Friendly Pencil" by Bonnie Laing, she explains how a simple pencil that we use in our everyday lives is better than a complex computer that is
technologically advanced, and through her ironic tone and economic line of reasoning, she gets that message across to her readers which I firmly agree
on. In her essay, she utilizes irony to add a sarcastic tone in her essay, making the essay more enjoyable for readers to read. An example of this is the
use of computer jargon to explain why the pencil is the better tool. Laing states how "the software of a pencil is both cheap and simple" (332) and
how you can "render it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of that is how she fought and "wrestled with [her] microchips" (Laing, 332), which is an example of personification. As we all know,
a computer does not have human traits nor can it wrestle with the user like WWE; however, Laing is explaining how it gets more complicated the
more you use a computer, and I agree with that. A computer is not smart; instead, it is the exact opposite. This is because without a user, a computer
is just a sitting duck without the proper programming. It needs to be programmed to perform certain tasks or it needs a user to give it something to
do in order to be useful, which is what software engineers do for a living. From taking computer science, I can tell you it is not an easy task, but
rather, a hardworking one since we wrestle with the OS rather than the

Technology Is Brain Washing Our Kids !
Technology is Brain Washing Our Kids! Imagine being a kid in the 1980's. Kids back in those days would run around outside all day, using their
imagination to create imaginary worlds to travel to imaginary places that made way for creative ideas and inventions as they grew older. One of those
inventions turned out to be the tablet, the iPhone, or the netbook. Basically anything that made everything easier. Everything is now easier. One can
simply look up an article and read it on their computer or phone, or research the latest fashion trends without having to keep updated on the latest
magazine. Easier is okay. Let's make things easier, but it's when the easier starts finding its way intoschool systems. Easy technology usage becomes a
problem when it creeps into our school, when the unreliable, and brainwashing abilities of technology creep into the minds of the young to hurt their
ability to actually truly learn and experience life for what it should be. Computers have made writing papers easier, emails have made communicating
with teachers more efficient, and the Internet has made access to information become extraordinarily easy to come by. However, in this picture, a
fourth grade teacher is asking her students to complete an assignment with their technology. Obviously, this assignment is supposed to be a warm–up,

Creating Art Is Important In My World
In every corner of the Earth, there's art. In houses, nature, outside. If you don't notice, you aren't looking hard enough. Creating art is extremely
important to me. All types ranging from music, painting, using Prisma colors and more. Art has always been present in my life, but I began to get
serious about it when I visited my Aunt's home last year. I saw my cousin sketching in a small notebook with a black pen. I asked her what she was

I vowed to make art a part of my world, including all the practicing, art–block and the different mediums of art.
It really is as they say, "practice make perfect". I've been drawing for two years now and I can definitely see improvement in my artwork. Adding
drawing to your daily life, even if it's just a small doodle, can help you in the long run. Any famous artist you can think of didn't just wake up with
talent, they practiced. Even Mozart had to practice for over ten years before becoming the musical genius he was. It's not only about practicing for
long periods of time, it's about working on things you're not good at. For example, I usually draw faces, so I can't draw bodies. What I do now is
pick one of my favorite characters and and sketch their entire body. It helps to add something you enjoy drawing to something you're not good at. In
order to practice, you have to envision the thing

Essay On Why I Love Art

  • 1. Essay On Why I Love Art Although I have been drawing for a majority of my life, it wasn't until recently when I realized just how much I love art. Art was my method of self–expression and creativity, creating a doorway for my imagination to explain its intricacies. I love art because of its ability to express emotions, moods, and stories. Stories are a large aspect of the artist in me. As someone with an extremely vivid imagination, stories are my way of expressing thoughts, coping with problems, and bringing a bit of adventure into a routine life. I can create the personalities, strengths, flaws, and motives of many diverse characters that change the corrupt fantastical world they live in. Through art, I draw out these characters' designs, emotions, and storylines, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I used pencil in order to create a high contrast with the shadows and highlights and I used colored pencils and pen to create both subtle colors and a surreal effect. I am also influenced greatly by the stories I watch. My mandala art piece is filled with themes from the show RWBY, which is about a young girl and her team of friends battling monsters and corruption in a dangerous, but unique world. RWBY inspired me to take a more fantastical approach to my story, building a world with its own laws, countries, and history. I made this piece into a mandala in order to expand into different art styles. With the radial design I created a type of abstract symbolism, something I rarely have done in my art before. Some of my art pieces aren't inspired by stories, however. In my observation piece, I drew a flower that has been in my house ever since I could remember. This flower represents home for me, always giving off a familiar vibe and a nostalgic feeling of comfort, security, and safeness. I used colored pencils in order to learn realism through color because before this piece I had only ever drawn grayscale art pieces. Finally, my second student choice art piece, which follows the ... • 2. Short Story There once was a boy named Mac, Mac didn't have any friends outside of school because he was always to shy to ask other children with and his family was too busy to notice. He was so bored sitting around with no one else to share his life with. Nothing to do, no one to do it with. He was all alone just playing in his basement, watching the occasional television. It was miserable. "Hmmmm I need a friend, a companion, a pet maybe?" he asked himself. Right away he went to the pet store to get this big, chubby bulldog. When he let the dog off it's leash it bolted for the nearest exit, whilst trampling on Mac. The dog was long gone and he wouldn't ever see it again. Mac thought, "Maybe dogs aren't my style, I bet that dog and I had nothing in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "This is going to help you move around," Mac said saying it as if it were a real person. Mac got a roll of electrical tape and strapped the Roomba to the can. The can started to move and Mac cheered with joy. "What shall I name you?" Mac thought aloud "I found this on the web for lists of famous robot names" the Alexa robot said as he started to read them out loud. Baymax, Wall–E, Cosmo, the list went on. "I will name you... Max!" Mac stopped Max abruptly. The next day Mac and his new friend Max walked to school. Yesterday Mac had shoved a bunch of things into the can to help him at school, a paper shredder, magnets, pencil sharpener, and wifi antenna for use of his cell phone at school. At school his teacher was asking math questions and Max was in his bag when she asked, "What is 293 x 462?" "135,366" Max answered in a muffled voice. "Who said that?" the teacher asked? "I did..." he sighed as he braced himself to be yelled at. "Very good! You're correct!" she answered and didn't get mad. Mac felt like he had dodged a bullet and during recess all his friends and kids he didn't even know wanted to see his robot. It moved around in circles because the roomba probably was trying to find dirt on the pavement. "Can I touch it? What is that? Did you make it?" asked all the kids while trying to catch it as it scurried across the floor. "No, no, and no" I answered as all the kids' smiles turned into frowns. "Maybe a little actually..." • 3. The Railroad Bride Analysis Consider the painting The Railroad Bride, Argenteuil by Claude Monet. This artwork looks simple, but uses geometry and one point linear perspective. Monet uses a sense of opposition is created by the alternating rhythm of light to dark established by the bridge pillars and the color orange and blue in both water and smoke from the train above. The light and dark areas given the picture asymmetrical balance between the dark and light areas. Monet uses one point linear perspective to create the bride. He uses proportions in the relationship between the parts of the object and the whole object by using geometry. Monet uses grid like geometry. The wooden structure support under the bridge is the same overall structure of grid and diagonals. Other lines are the apparent in the two diagonals as well as opposing directional lines of the train and the boat. The smoke shows direction of the wind and that the boat is moving that way as well. The visual weight/balance of the sail boat is smaller than the bridge. I believe the focal point is the new bridge for the train and new travels was is focal point in the picture. The asymmetrical balance of the composition 8–1: Explain way the following mediums evolved in time. The evolving in paper went through a lot of phases. Before the 15th hundredths paper was expensive. Paper was not made in the Western world until the 13th century in Italy. Before then it was made out of fiber from scraps of cloth. Another way a form of paper was made is from papyrus and parchment which was invention of the ancient Egyptians sometime around 4000 BCE and was made by pounding and pasting together strips of the papyrus plant. Parchment was popular by the Romans after the second century BCE, but was used as paper many years before that. Paper arrived in the West through trade and which had learned the process from China originally. Papermaking was introduced into the Arabic world sometime in the 18th century and had a thriving book trade. It was not till a gentlemen from Germany that invented the printing press that books became wide spread. Due to the large amount of cloth rags need, paper remained an expensive till the middle of the 19th century when wood pulp was discovered. This in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Invention Of The Love Sharpener image source Before 1894, pencils sharpeners were big and heavy, so carrying it about was a big issue. Some were mounted on the walls of a class room, while some were placed on the desk, despite the fact that these old school revolving sharpeners looked super cool and perplexing, they were cumbersome. A travelling writer or student couldn't carry it about. African–American inventor John Lee Love changed the way we see pencil sharpeners in 1894 when he invented the "Love Sharpener," the portable hand wrenched sharpener that peppers a lot of student's backpacks right up till the present day. According to history, John Lee Love was a black American carpenter and inventor. He was best known all over the world for inventing a portable pencil sharpener known as the "Love Sharpener", named after him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is estimated that he was born some time amid the recreation time frame between 1865 to 1877. Love in his later days worked as a carpenter in the community of Fall River, Massachusetts. He applied for a patent for a portable pencil sharpener in 1897. His application determined that his invention was an "enhanced gadget" that could serve as a paperweight or trimming. The design was straightforward, including a hand wrench and a compartment to catch the pencil shavings. In John Lee Love's creation, the pencil is put into the opening of the sharpener and pivoted by hand. It was referred to conversationally as the "Love Sharpener." ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Creating Text Essay Creating Text The process of creating "text" without using technology appeared to be a simple task that would allow the students to be a creator of his or her unique technology free masterpiece. I just had to come up with a creative, natural way to write text instead of using modern technologies that society takes for granted. How hard and restrictive could this assignment be? I soon found out everything would not go exactly as planned. It took me two attempts and failures before I finally achieved some level of success. My first idea came to me while I was getting ready one morning. Why not use hair to create text! It is a natural part of the human body that is constantly growing, natural and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I could use the juice form smashing up raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries to create natural paint. I purchased all the berries but I still needed something to create my text on. I was looking for a piece of fruit big enough to display my text when I discovered the honeydew melon. The surface of the melon was hard and smooth which would operate as a perfect canvas for my fruit paint. The only part of my creation that would not be completely natural would be the paintbrush, I would have to use this tool since my finger or a stick wouldn't work. After I smashed up all the fruit, I used a paintbrush and dabbed it into the juice then wrote what was supposed to be an "A" on the surface of the honeydew melon. Once again, I reached another failure. The juice form the smashed up fruit barely showed up on the melon, even though the melon was light in color, the juice wasn't thick and dark enough to be legible. After two failures my motivation and enthusiasm was depleting. I was becoming frustrated and annoyed with the assignment and all the ideas I had up until this point. My third attempt turned out to be successful but was more restrictive than I thought it would be. After racking my brain trying to develop creative ideas I realized I needed to focus on completing the assignment, meeting the requirements, and keeping the already complicated task as simple as possible. • 6. My Experience Of Art Since elementary school I have envisioned my life deeply intertwined with art, however, at the same time I also knew that vision never had me living out the stereotype of a starving artist either. As a child my understanding of artist in the work force was nothing more than the clichГ© vision, of a paint covered artist smearing vivid hues on a canvas and then rushing to the nearest art gallery to sell their work. I didn't know anything of the vast opportunities for artist or even how abundantly art is used throughout our society. Maybe this was due to the fact I was never one of those kids who know what they wanted to be since they were three. Nevertheless, I always had a passion to create, even when I was determined to become the next Thomas Edison, I was looking for an outlet to create. By the time third grade would roll around though, it would be made evident that art in its most traditional since of drawing and painting would be the outlet I was always looking for. Understanding my niche in the creative world would take me over a decade of self–evaluation, inspiration, and research. I never started out saying I was going to be an artist, I still did a child's fair share of doodles and finger painting but it was never anything that raptured my attention. However, this would all change on Christmas Eve, when my grandmother presented me with a book entitled "How to Draw 120 of your Favorite Things". Now the title was not the most original approach, the book's cover made up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Writing with Technology Essay Writing with Technology The task was seemingly straightforward; create a piece of writing without using a single form of technology. I didn't think this would be much of a problem. I figured I could hand–write something instead of typing it or using a word processor and that would meet the requirements of the project. However, according to Dennis Baron in his essay From Pencils to Pixels the pencil is, in fact, a form of technology. Evidently, it was invented "by joiners, woodworkers specializing in making furniture, to scribe measurements for wood" (Tribble/Trubek, 42). Adding further to my obstacles, paper, being a created object, was not an option as well. This was turning out to be harder than I thought. After I pondered and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the base of my project, I arranged rows of sticks that I would tie together with the vines. I tried to pull the vines apart to make them easier to tie with, as I had seen Tom Hanks do in the movie Cast Away, but I was unable to tear a strip that was much longer than the length of my finger. The vines, also being quite slippery from the juice inside the stems, would simply not allow me to get a very good grip on them. Foregoing the vine idea, I decided to try and pack dirt on top of the sticks to create a forced base. Although the dirt was moist, it still wouldn't pack well and kept cracking and crumbling. After laboring to press grass stems into the dirt, while picking up the pieces of mud that were accumulating at my feet, I finally got the first word imprinted with the grass and was finally ready to put the berry stems in it to make the word stand out against the black of the dirt base. When I plucked the berry from its stem, a deep red juice oozed onto my fingertips. The idea struck me like a lightening bolt! I could use the berry juice as ink and write on one of the pieces of wood I had gathered from the yard. I suddenly felt very foolish for not thinking of this much simpler project earlier. I took a piece of bark and used it as a bowl and smashed four berries onto it with the end of a stick. I then took another piece of bark and on it wrote, "from this ... • 8. Deprivation In Middle School Holding a grudge against someone would sometimes make situations worse than they already are. In middle school, I had a friend who did not have a lot of materialistic things everyone else had, clothes, shoes or jewelry, a fancy cell phone. Sometimes you would see her wearing the same shirts. A lot of people would say she used to steal from friends or clothing stores or from grocery stores, in general, I would have to say this lesson taught me a lot. You never know what someone is going through. "it is better to forget than to forgive" well I beg to differ. On the first day of school Michele sat beside me in Economics class I noticed she did not have any of her things. No books, pencils, pens, a notepad, she just did not have anything it was just her. In my head, I started thinking "oh she's one of those students that comes to class unprepared and expects to copy off everyone's paper" well she was not copying off mine. Class started and she asked for a pencil, I was going to give her one of my mechanical pencils but I knew I was not going to get it back so I gave her one of those wooden pencils that no one uses they were just sitting in my pencil pouch taking up space anyway so why not? To my surprise, she did her work but she never turned it in for some strange odd reason though. We were doing a group assignment but we were required to have our own answers I would check her answers from time to time and they were all correct, one day the teacher pulled me aside and asked ... • 9. Descriptive Essay About Art Art is a form of expression that I could never abandon in my life. I became an artist at a young age, and I can still remember the day art came into my life like angel sent straight from God. It was my first time watching my Pops draw a portrait. It was around noon on Saturday in the summer because the 'noon' heat was almost unearthly. However the vibe in our small two bedroom apartment was absolutely groovy and cool. Pops was playing the oldies from the 70's. " Sweet love, my sweet love you'll be crying out my name", I heard as the talented Anita Baker filled my home's walls with even more soul! He was drawing a self portrait. The detail in the drawing was so hyper realistic. At the time I did not know that it was a self portrait. I thought it was just a black man with his hands placed both sides of his head as if inside he was going crazy inside. My pops hands moved so smoothly as if each finger had a tiny brain in the tip where the pencil touched. I was around 8 years old at the time. From that moment I knew I would want to be an artist, because that type of expression seemed best for my dad. I always paid attention to the early teachings from the big guy. The cleanliness of the lines that my dad had , it almost seemed as if he was a surgeon of the paper. He would start with this blank piece paper and hours later it would become a piece of his life , and in some ways it would become a major part of mine. Pops handed me a wooden number two pencil and a big piece of off ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Magnificence By Estrella Alfon Pedophilia remains a growing issue in our society. Strangers tend to take advantage of young children brought by their innocence and vulnerability. Not only are the youth victimized and traumatized, but the parents of the children are deeply affected as well. Estrella Alfon's "Magnificence" depicts a mother's battle against male abuse, which manifests a reversal of gender stereotypes and woman empowerment. Estrella Alfon is one of the most prominent writers in the country for she is recognized to write about the feminist movement. The male population is known to have a dominant status and role in our society. Therefore, women and children are usually the main characters and victims in her short stories for this reflects the marginalized roles of women in the patriarchal culture among the Filipino citizens. In her literary work "Magnificence", the short story revolves around 2 major characters namely Vicente, a bus conductor, and the next one is the mother of the two children. The pencils play a significant role in the story as this was used to gain the enthusiasm and trust of the children. Inventing A Writing Technology Essay examples "Inventing" A Writing Technology According to Walter Ong, an influential scholar of the relationship between technology and media, "Literacy is imperious. It tends to arrogate to itself supreme power by taking itself as normative for human expression and thought. This is particularly true in high–technology cultures, which are built on literacy of necessity and which encourage the impression that literacy is an always to be expected and even natural state of affairs" (316). Ong would probably agree that literacy is so embedded in our current technological culture that it has become part of the standard of living, a necessary requirement for functioning in this highly professionalized world. Nature referred to the extent to which the materials used in creating the text and/or writing surface were found in nature and not manufactured or highly processed. During this experiment, I tried to consider what completely natural materials I could find. I resorted to using materials found in my backyard including rocks, dirt, sand, sticks, grass, and leaves. The permanence criterion of the assignment narrowed my choices by eliminating writing in the dirt, sand, or mud or with grass or leaves. Wind or rain would erase any writing created using these materials. The issue of portability further narrowed my decision to use a small, hand–held, sharp rock to scrape or chisel words into a larger stone which was able to be carried. The stone needed to have a writing surface large enough to chisel words but not so large that it could not be easily transported. All in all, inventing a technology which was creative was somewhat of a problem when considering permanence and portability and was overlooked as a criterion. Although the solution to the assignment may sound easy, the creation process was actually very challenging. One reason may be that "Oral speech is fully natural to human beings in the sense that every human being in every culture who is not physiologically or psychologically impaired learns to talk" (Ong, 322). It has a variety of media to choose from, however in this assignment we shall focus on colored pencils. One of Prismacolor's top competitors is Crayola, who you may think has a monopoly in the art market, preceded by Dewernt and Fabercastle. There is much that goes into choosing a colored pencil beyond the number of colors available from the line in question. For example and artist will look for a brand that produces quality pigmentation and value. If a colored pencil can create dark lines with little effort as well as faint lines it is a good choice. The Prismacolor pencils can do that with no problem so can the Crayola pencils to a degree, but there is a slight difference in value from the pigmentation agent in the pencil themselves. The electron and hole mobility's of FET are observed to be 180 and 200 cm2v–1s–1 respectively which are comparable to the recently reported values of paper FET with polymer dielectric and cellulose composite dielectrics. The FET was utilized as a strain sensor which shows good sensitivity for low strains of both tensile and compressive type. The mobility of the FET increases with increase in compressive strain and decreases with increase in tensile strain. The sensitivity of the FET sensor increases with the increase in the gate voltage. HERE YOU CAN MAKE A COMMENT ON HOW THIS STRAIN SENSOR IS BETTER THAN SILICON STRAIN SENSORS IN PERFORMANCE. Further we investigated the performance of the sensor by integrating it with hand gloves to detect human motion. The results obtained indicate that the sensor can be utilized ... I had never written that much before, but I discovered that I get this inspirational feeling when I write poetry that I never get in anything else. Sometimes my poems seemed good from the start; some I knew needed a little help. I think some of my best poems were revised over and over. Just remember, I 'd rather have a rough draft in the beginning and have a great piece at the end than to never write or try at all! Let 's talk about imagery; imagery is a skill in poetry writing. I have grown in my ability to show imagery this year, and I think I 'm great at this skill. It makes the reader form a picture in his or her head. So, I have two pieces that are nothing alike, except they show how imagery can be used in separate ways. Imagery is an important skill that all writers should know of. It can make every creative piece 100 percent better. This first piece I 'm sharing today is not the best, but you will listen to the difference and growth between my first and second piece. There are many common skills such as doing underwater handstands and then there are skills that are absolutely out of the blue, for example bending their index finger backwards down the wrist. My skill isn't too common though it isn't very unique either. My skill isn't painting or cooking, or even having strangely, stretchy fingers. My skill is drawing. Drawing is one of my passions, because it is a good stress reliever and it can help express emotion. Drawing is very useful for when I'm upset and need something to boost my moralemood and is comforting for just a normal, rainy day activity. I especially draw especially when I'm bored or trying to pass time. Some people agree, and find drawing fun, but others may find it frustrating or boring. I enjoy drawing because it lets me work at my own pace. I casually sketch, whether it be for a novel or just a plain doodle, I find a way to maneuver it into random pieces of work. One of the most significant inventions is a pencil. a thin, sharp–pointed device that is used for writing or keeping a record of events or information of any kind. Writing on a whiteboard using a marker illustrates writing or drawing patterns on a piece of paper. There are two types of pencils, mechanical and non–mechanical. In spite of the fact that a mechanical and non–mechanical pencil share one most important material that produces shapes or writings when pressed with pressure or rubbed against a paper, they differ in the way they are used and the materials they are made from. Non–mechanical pencils are often made of wood, whereas most mechanical pencils are made of non–wood materials, such as plastic, metal, and sometimes a mixture of both. Since a mechanical pencil is complex, it is the main emphasis of this text. In general, any mechanical pencil has five primary components, namely lead, intermediate lead tube, knock button, barrel, and clip (U.S. Patent No. US20110229245). The pencil cores are left to dry in 1800 degree furnaces to ensure all traces of water are out of the lead. While the furnace stiffens the lead, the wood working area fabricates the pencil shell. First a saw cuts eight grooves in a slab of cedar which will hold the graphite cores. The cores are glued into one slat and covered by another forming a sandwich. This block is then cut into a hexagonal shaped pencil. The pencils are then sanded, painted, and fitted with a brass eraser holder called a ferrule. The final step to the process is fitting the pencil with the eraser itself which concludes the production process. In addition to an intricate production process, the number two pencil requires different continents and cultures to cooperate and bring materials together from across the world. The four core materials required to fabricate the pencil are graphite, cedar, metal, and rubber. The first material, known as the California cedar tree, is produced in the Pacific North West. Its straight grain qualities making it ideal for smooth sharpening. The graphite, on the contrary, is mined in China and Sri Lanka. These raw materials are later exported to factories. They are going to use their desk to create a frequency table using their dry erase markers and pretzel sticks. Walk them through how to draw it using the illustration below for clarity. They will need to fill in the types of pies before being given the data; you can use the types of pies that are listed in the book on page 12, or you can have the class fill it in with 4 different types of pies. After they have drawn their table, they will need to fill it in. Give them the following data: First row (whatever type of pie you decided) 8, second row 4, third row 11, fourth row 5. As you give them each number, they need to fill in the tally section with that number of pretzel sticks; the fifth pretzel stick should sit diagonally across the other pretzel sticks just like regular tally marks. Once they have all their tally marks, have them write the numerical total for each row in the last column. b.For Dot Plot (found on page 13): The students are going to use their desk again to create a dot plot using play dough. • 29. Ashley Sims Drawing Ashley Sims was born in Arcadia, Florida and studied art at South Florida State College as well as Greenville Technical College in South Carolina where Sims is currently in college, majoring in art education. The theme of the collection being shown is to show the importance of a well rounded education when it comes to the field of drawing. The importance of this theme is that each drawing is an example of a different concept of drawing, Though multiple concepts are sometimes included in the same drawing there will always be a main focus that teaches a new lesson and learning these is imperative for any artist. The media used on these drawings are graphite, charcoal, ink wash, and prisma pencil. Project one, is of an orange. Sims follows this theme by experimenting with mixed media. She uses graphite, charcoal, and ink wash as well as 11 media processes in the creation of this piece including, hatching, cross hatching, scribbling, tortillion marks and many more. This project is used as a preview to all the processes that can be used in the creation of a drawing. Project two depicts a closet scene, the viewer is looking ... The drawings of this collection are objective, every mark was intentional and the meanings behind the images are not complicated. Her idea was to show how to create a drawing rather than to make the viewer guess how to do it like they would with subjective art where nothing is definite. Overall, any drawing that is created will have at least one of the concepts shown in this collection. It does not matter whether the image is hundreds of years old or will not be created for another hundred years. To be a successful drawing, it will have to contain at least one of these ... • 30. The Geography Geniuses Generated 3 Behaviorist Theory Everybody learns in different ways, including the students sitting in the classrooms. How are teachers going to be able to make sure every student learns? Maribel, Julianne, Michelle, Matthew, and Ana are Geography Geniuses and are here to advise how to ensure that every student learns. Focusing on the 3rd grade standard SS.3.G.1.1, students will use thematic maps, tables, charts, graphs, and photos to analyze geographic information. The information being taught is declarative because students will acquire factual knowledge and information that can be spoken about at any time. The activities utilize hands–on and drill methods with the objective that if students are shown a blank map they will be able to recognize and recall all elements of the map automatically. Lastly, they fit into the remember and understand levels of Bloom's Taxonomy because students will remember locations on the map and later understand different information and landmarks embedded in states. With all this in mind, the Geography Geniuses generated 3 behaviorist and 3 constructivist activities that allow the students to learn and practice geographic locations. The first activity my third grade students will learn is a constructivist activity, which promotes active learning and learning by doing. It derives from constructivism one of Piaget 's theory it is defined as the view that meaningful learning is the active creation of knowledge instead of a simple transfer of objective knowledge from one person to ... • 31. Technology : The Advantages And Disadvantages Of... Technology has changed how people learn over the years. It has affected how things are taught, and how they are received and processed by the students. Teachers could post any information on a specific website that the instructor provided and the students can view and reply to the post. Students used to have to bring home a textbook every night, but with the modern technology, they can log onto an online textbook. There are some instructors who believe that pencil and paper are slowly dwindling down into nothingness. Other educators believe that technology has helped benefit their student's education and don't worry about pencil and paper. Technology has its advantages and disadvantages in the classroom. Compared to the positive effects, the list of negatives are nowhere near as long. Some of the negative effects include not paying attention in class, not being on task, or even playing a game in the middle of a lecture. Wolpert says that "As technology has played a bigger role in our lives, our skills in critical thinking and analysis have declined, while our visual skills have improved". This means that students are paying more attention to technology and visual stimulants than books and worksheets. They would rather look up the answer than do the work themselves. "In other words, kids need to be taught when to stop clicking and start thinking more carefully. Increasingly, teachers are equipping students with means to evaluate websites rather than taking them at face ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. My Passion For Art Everyone at some point in their lives found themselves doodling on the side of their paper or on a napkin at the local restaurant. For me, this doodling did not simply stop as I got older, but instead festered my curiosity and encouraged me to continue on. The very moment that my interest in art peaked was when I noticed my mother sketching a portrait of one of my younger sisters. After that, I began to try on my own. That trying was often times led to me failing more times than not, and giving up hope in myself. Throughout life I began to notice the world around me and the different people that were able to create beautiful works of art on their own, so I began to draw once again. This lead to art becoming a major part of my life and allowing me to get more involved in so many different opportunities that I could not even fathom being a part of before. My passion for creaticity was inspired from the very early ages of childhood where I would simply sit and watch my mom, to me having my very own experience with it, and now being able to partake my interest and pursue it further. I had always drawn on the side of my papers in class or on the pages fancy restaurants would give you to keep you occupied while you waited. That was just something that every child did, nothing that anyone would expect to continue on today. Maybe I should have noticed something different when I would color in the coloring books at home or even with my siblings. I loved to color coordinate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I think it is important for students to get in all the different ways of learning. I plan on giving the students time to work in groups or alone. I think it is important they learn to work with others as well as alone. I plan on using a lot of brain breaks so the students have time to get up and move around. I like to do things with physical movement too. This will give the students something to go back to to remember things. An example is using movements while learning the water cycle. • 34. My First Year Of High School It was the year 2014 and summer had come to a close. My mind had suddenly switched from lounging on the warm, sandy beach and being gently kissed by sunshine to traumatizing, stressful high school. My first year of high school–what was it going to be like? Who was I going to be friends with? Am I going to get terrible grades? These thoughts flooded my mind and I was nervous. Thinking about being a highschooler made my throat close up and my heart beat faster. I was overcome with fear and excitement, going into the unknown and stepping into a freaky future. Soon the time had come to experience my classes that I had carefully selected earlier in the summer. I was especially excited, however, about my elective that I had chosen: classical drawing. Little did I realize that this decision would teach me perseverance and work ethic, while opening up a world of possibilities. I had decided to enroll in a class called Classical Drawing by Andrea Mosley. Miss Mosley is an incredible artist, who was taught by John Angel, a former student of the great Pietro Annigon. She was taught for four years in Florence, Italy and mastered her incredible ability to draw. This knowledge only made me more intrigued but exceptionally anxious. I didn't know what to expect from such a well–taught artist. I began to doubt myself even before the class started, assuming I couldn't draw nearly as well as she. The time had come. It was a Wednesday afternoon and I walked into class, hoping ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. An Ode To The User-Friendly Pencil Old school conquers new school: A personal response to "An Ode to the User–Friendly Pencil" Technology is upgrading itself and is, perhaps, taking over the world. From virtual reality to supercomputers, people are depending more on technology in their everyday lives, but is it necessary? Technology has reached the point where Samsung phones are becoming C4 explosives and 4K televisions do not display 4K quality. In "An Ode to the User–Friendly Pencil" by Bonnie Laing, she explains how a simple pencil that we use in our everyday lives is better than a complex computer that is technologically advanced, and through her ironic tone and economic line of reasoning, she gets that message across to her readers which I firmly agree on. In her essay, she utilizes irony to add a sarcastic tone in her essay, making the essay more enjoyable for readers to read. An example of this is the use of computer jargon to explain why the pencil is the better tool. Laing states how "the software of a pencil is both cheap and simple" (332) and how you can "render it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of that is how she fought and "wrestled with [her] microchips" (Laing, 332), which is an example of personification. As we all know, a computer does not have human traits nor can it wrestle with the user like WWE; however, Laing is explaining how it gets more complicated the more you use a computer, and I agree with that. A computer is not smart; instead, it is the exact opposite. This is because without a user, a computer is just a sitting duck without the proper programming. It needs to be programmed to perform certain tasks or it needs a user to give it something to do in order to be useful, which is what software engineers do for a living. From taking computer science, I can tell you it is not an easy task, but rather, a hardworking one since we wrestle with the OS rather than the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Technology Is Brain Washing Our Kids ! Technology is Brain Washing Our Kids! Imagine being a kid in the 1980's. Kids back in those days would run around outside all day, using their imagination to create imaginary worlds to travel to imaginary places that made way for creative ideas and inventions as they grew older. One of those inventions turned out to be the tablet, the iPhone, or the netbook. Basically anything that made everything easier. Everything is now easier. One can simply look up an article and read it on their computer or phone, or research the latest fashion trends without having to keep updated on the latest magazine. Easier is okay. Let's make things easier, but it's when the easier starts finding its way intoschool systems. Easy technology usage becomes a problem when it creeps into our school, when the unreliable, and brainwashing abilities of technology creep into the minds of the young to hurt their ability to actually truly learn and experience life for what it should be. Computers have made writing papers easier, emails have made communicating with teachers more efficient, and the Internet has made access to information become extraordinarily easy to come by. However, in this picture, a fourth grade teacher is asking her students to complete an assignment with their technology. Obviously, this assignment is supposed to be a warm–up, something at the beginning of the year to help the kids back into the swing of school. Creating art is extremely important to me. All types ranging from music, painting, using Prisma colors and more. Art has always been present in my life, but I began to get serious about it when I visited my Aunt's home last year. I saw my cousin sketching in a small notebook with a black pen. I asked her what she was doing, and she showed me some pages. It mesmerized me. Her drawings were so flawless, but best of all, they looked like fun. From that day forward, I vowed to make art a part of my world, including all the practicing, art–block and the different mediums of art. It really is as they say, "practice make perfect". I've been drawing for two years now and I can definitely see improvement in my artwork. Adding drawing to your daily life, even if it's just a small doodle, can help you in the long run. Any famous artist you can think of didn't just wake up with talent, they practiced. Even Mozart had to practice for over ten years before becoming the musical genius he was. It's not only about practicing for long periods of time, it's about working on things you're not good at. For example, I usually draw faces, so I can't draw bodies. What I do now is pick one of my favorite characters and and sketch their entire body. It helps to add something you enjoy drawing to something you're not good at.
