My First Job Experience
My First Job Experience "Winning is important to me, but what brings me real joy is the
experience of being fully engaged in whatever I'm doing." says Phil Jackson, a former American
professional basketball player. People always whine about how their first job experience was
terrible and there's only one reason which is not getting enough amount of money for their work.
I think people need to think that job is not always about money as I discovered from my first job.
About three years back, I had just turned sixteen and had finished 10th grade so I was enjoying my
summer vacation just like other kids enjoying their summer vacation after a long school year. One
day, my mother said I should get a job. She said it would teach me how to...show more content...
The workplace was always very clean, which also created a nice environment around me to focus
on my work. That's really a good thing because a nice working environment keeps me safe,
healthy, and gives me more energy to do my work. This company was also very well organized. I
feel I was one of the lucky one who got a job in very nice and organized company. I received a
good salary, had a nice working environment and was given respect by other employees which
were really amazing despite being the youngest employee. When I entered in this job, I knew
nothing. I was completely inexperienced and unskilled worker but after working here, this job
helped me to improve my working skills such as how to communicate with people around me,
never try to be hypocrite, stay calm and focus only on my work. Having a job also taught me to
value my own work, and what I put into something. As my mother said, this job also taught me
how to handle my responsibilities by myself. I became responsible for some of my own expenses.
This was a valuable experience for me. I learned the value of the money and taking my own
decisions about what I spend my money on. On Short, I feel that if a person works just for the sake
of money then there's no point of working. Yes, money is important but no person can enjoy the
work if that person is only working there for the sake of

Reflection On My Work Experience
4.Reflection On My Working Experience
Reflective practice is a key way of learning from the experience, it allows to overview the past
experience from a different perspective and take actions to benefit it to yourself. Basically, the
reflective practice covers a gap between theory and practice that helps to create a strategy for learning
and improving (Jasper, 2003). Therefore, an understanding of reflective theories is a key aspect that
I should develop before my graduation.
In the academic community the most beneficial reflective theories are Gibbs' Reflective Cycle
(1988) and Rolfe et al. (2010) Reflective Model, see Figure 2 and 3 in Appendix III. In this report, I
will use these two theories to reflect on my internship in Noltaā€“Tur.
4. 1 Reflection on My Work Experience
What: Description, Evaluation and Feeling
According to my Time log, see Appendix IV, on 27th of July I had a practical task in which I was
assigned to compile an itinerary for a threeā€“day group trip to Poland. I was assigned to do a research
on the destination, schedule for excursions and calculations of the costs. Firstly, I felt confident of
myself...show more content...
During that week, I had an individual time with each worker of the company when I had time to ask
questions about the workplace culture. I prepared a list of questions and categorised them in the
matter of importance and areas of activity. During those sessions, I have improved my verbal
communication skills and learned more about the system of transportation reservation, as well as
how to interact with customers by phone. My written communication and foreign language skills
(Estonian and German) were improved when one of the staff members asked me to write emails to
organisations with commercial and business purposes. Moreover, that experience has helped me to
discover how important a business writing skill

Background I do not remember very much from my first work experience. I was the coā€“owner of a
lemonade stand with my aunt at age 5. We set up on the corner of my grandma's street, which was
right next to where the city was doing some road work. We did not make a lot of money, but this
was essentially the first time I "worked" for money. From this experience, I learned that a smile
and a positive attitude go a long way. My next work experience came when I was around 14 at my
stepfather's flooring company. I have been working there for about 6 or 7 years now. I have learned
a significant amount from working here. For years I planned on taking the company over but this
summer I realized that I'm not passionate about it and could not spend years working there. Though I
do not want to work there long term, working at my stepfather's company has taught me a lot about
owning and operating a company. I have learned a lot about interacting with peopleā€“ customers,
suppliers, and people that want to bring you down. It has been a truly unique experience because
I have seen the company grow and I have grown up with it. Also, since coming to LMU and
studying business, I'm seen as more of a supervisor and leader. I have implemented a few changes
that have greatly improved the efficiency from what I have learned in various classes I have taken
so far. I also worked briefly in the LMU library and quit after one semester because my supervisor
barely acknowledged my existence and

Reflection On Work Experience
Throughout the course of my workplace practices class I have participated in a consisted of
completing assignments and work experience regarding my career pathways. As I look back and
reflect on my time at this course, I am able to explore the graduate qualities and capabilities I have
achieved over the duration of this study period, as well as the skills and abilities I need to improve
on. Graduate qualities are skills that have been learned by students throughout the course of their
schooling life, for example, it is a learning outcome of a program specifically stating the things that's
been learned by students who have completed that program of study. In this reflection, I will be
discussing about my strength and weakness personal...show more content...
Furthermore, preparing and packing the cafŠ“Ā© every morning and afternoon depended on how
well we worked as team, for example helping another worker when you have finished you own
workload. My main strength in this whole course would be my personal development, as I was
able to gain my own skills, attitudes, and knowledge, such as my technological skills for example,
how to source useful information that is relevant to my work. Another example is becoming more
confident about myself, as I am able to freely express my emotion without thinking of any sort of
limitation that will limit my progress of taking risks for the fear of failure.
Reflecting on the Graduate Qualities and Capabilities Framework, I still feel the need to improve on
my communication, planning and organisation skills. It is evident to me that these qualities are my
weakest qualities that need to be enhanced. I think I am lacking in these qualities, as I do not
participate in any school or outside school coā€“curricular activities anymore. This is due to me not
being organised, as I do not set a straight direction for myself to follow. I am also a very
introverted person when it comes to communicating with people. Planning a set of task for myself
to achieve can be hard to follow at times, however I am persistent enough to get it done. I am able to
improve on my communication skills by becoming more involved with the society around me, such
as volunteering to help in

Working Experience is More Important than Education It's been a question that society has
debated for a long time. Does education or work experience provide the most benefits and
therefore hold more importance for children and society as a whole? Many people believe that it's
the most important for children to spend time becoming highly educated so that they can obtain
great jobs. Others believe that children and adults should gain work experience instead because
this will lead to better jobs. Both sides have their benefits and their support. However it's the goal
of this paper to inform that work experience plays a larger, and more important role in the ability of
children to grow and adults to locate a job upon their graduation or...show more content...
The person with work experience will know what it's like working in a real kitchen or a real
garage instead of just what it should be like according to a manual. Learning or knowing in theory
how something works (which is all that you can learn from education) does not give you the
skills necessary to actually go out and do the job. The next important thing to focus on when
deciding between education and work experience is time. An employer will hire someone new
for a job because they need more workers. They need an additional person that can help them to do
whatever that job is and they need it to be done quickly. They don't hire people just to have extras
on hand. According to Steph (2011), if someone is hired that only has the education and no work
experience they won't be able to do what needs done when it's time to get their hands dirty.
Someone with experience will need to show them what to do (L., 2011). That means the person
with experience will not be working like they normally would and the educated person will also not
be performing any work. Both of these people will be taking up time and not producing anything at
all. This is definitely not what an employer wants when they hire new workers but it's what they get
when they choose higher education over increased work experience. Another important factor is
money. In the business world, time is money. Everyone has heard this little slogan before and that's
because it's true. If someone

Work Experience I absolutely had no idea what I wanted to do for work experience. I had about
three different options, but I always had a negative thoughts. One was to work in a bank of any
sort. Well, the good things were that I think it would be fun and it does make you look smart and
important. The negatives where that, to be totally honest, I was really good at money! I wasn't
that smart in maths and was also a bit careless. I thought that working in a bank would make me
have big responsibilities (like handling money or talking to customers) too big that I couldn't even
handle. There was no way that I was going to go to a bank and make a total klutz of myself. All I

To be honest when I grow up I wanted to be a lawyer. But I'm sure, again, on my first day they
won't let me exactly sort out a case will they? No, I didn't think so. They would make it sound
hard and probably give me papers to read. I know it sounds stupid, but I just want to be a lawyer. I
don't want to sit and study for 5 years in college or university; I just wanted to be a lawyer. I had
been watching too many movies and it's tempting. Movies like, Legally Blonde or similar types,
makes it sound like being a lawyer is fun and no actual hard work is needed. But I knew that was
impossible! Out of my three options, I chose the primary school. My overall experience working
in Carlton Primary School was quite good. I had lots of fun during the week. I never expected it
to be like that. I walked to school and arrive there at 8:30am, feeling nervous. Questions buzzed in
my mind, like what if they don't like me? What if they say I look funny? What if they laugh at my
clothes? You wouldn't expect someone to be fully excited in there first placement would you? I
was excited but had a nervous feeling inside too. But as usual, everything went great! I was
introduced to the children and they all seem to like me, they were a bit quite and shy on my first
day there, but after that, it's like they've known me for years! I worked with children between the

My Experience With My Job Essay
"Tell me and I may forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn." Learning takes
place in many aspects, but for me I learned so much by my experiences. From my first job all the
way to my current job. My experiences make me who I am today; After high school I went to
college and graduated with an associates degree in legal studies this is I learned from my law
teacher Ms. Campbell that " you won 't know the law by memorization but by Application" and that
stuck with me all these years and I apply that fundamental principle to life.
My Job at J.C.Penny was one of the first learning experiences that I had in the workforce. I learned
so much allow me to explain. I started as a sales support associate and as a sales support associate I
was in charge of offering items to clients and giving those clients any help as required amid the
sales procedure. Also, to create and keep up positive client connections to guarantee clients
retention. As a Sales supports associate I was required to met organizational objectives, (for
example, those identified with deals) and work inside organization rules and directions at all times.
This was just the tip of the iceberg for my customer experience exposure. Then after four months I
got promoted to sales associate/ cashier. My job duties were to Guarantee that every Client gets

The scent of fresh waffles, sound of radio pop music, light from the open sign. Just another long day
at work. Everything is just like the usual. Restock utensils, greet customers, take orders, collect
payments, and clean up. At seventeen, wanting to save up for my postā€“secondary tuition, I decided
to work a part time job alongside school. I thought that not only does it give me money, it can also
give me valuable work experience. Working at a part time job sounds like a perfect opportunity for
me. However, after this experience, my perspective of working in the service industry completely
changed.
This was my first real job. After expressing my concerns about postā€“secondary tuition, my high

As time went on, things slowly started to get better. With my improved work habits, I slowly
began to catch up on school. Also, I began to know my coworkers better, and I get to spend more
time with my friend there. Moreover, after knowing how the store functions and learning all the
menu items, the work became easier as well. I started to really enjoy this job despite getting some
wrist injuries from scooping ice cream.
Then, something happened. It was near the end of my 11ā€“hour shift on a Sunday. It was quite busy
as it was a hot summer night. The line was almost to the outside of the door while there was only

policies and are willing to change the order. This was not the case.

My Experience For My Work Experience
My work experience professor, Deborah Kitchin, gave a presentation during our class orientation in
October 2017 and stated that the aim of the course is to learn while working. I truly believe this
class has helped me achieve that goal. During the past twoā€“andā€“aā€“half months that I have worked at
my current job, I have gained valuable insight about not only customer service and
communication, but also general workplace etiquette. However, there are still a few aspects of my
work experience that I would like to improve, especially considering I plan to build a career in the
music industry. I was born and raised in the Bayviewā€“Hunters Point neighborhood of San Francisco.
When I was two years old, a doctor diagnosed me with borderline autism, a disorder that affects
my social and communication skills but also enhances some of my natural abilities. For instance, I
have played the piano by ear since the age of three, which laid the groundwork for my journey
towards my dream career as a music producer. Additionally, I am exceptionally bright and
hardā€“working; during all three years of middle school, an educational organization celebrated me and
numerous Africanā€“American youth in San Francisco for maintaining a GPA of 4.0 or close to it.
This has made my family incredibly proud and may even inspire my younger brother, a junior in
high school, to achieve the same aspiration. Aside from producing music, I have recently taken up
songwriting; I enjoy thinking about lyric and

Importance Of Work Experience
There has been an increase in number of students who have participated in work experience over
the years, this can be mainly due to the fact that work experience has been heavily promoted by
universities and employers. However, undergraduates still lack the proper understanding of the true
benefit work experience offers as they view work experience as a chore rather than a valuable
experience. Therefore, the range of academia explored in this essay demonstrates the necessity of
work experience within undergraduates in order to expand skills, assets and prospects that they can
use after graduation. This essay explores evidence that supports the three main benefits of work
experience, which are; increasing students' awareness of different...show more content...
Also, this will create further issues in the future as those who lack career planning could have
trouble transitioning into work (Isherwood, S. 2017), meaning that work experience helps to create a
stressā€“ free future in career context. However, The Guardian suggests that undergraduates do not
have to worry about career planning due to the emergence of gig economy and portfolio career,
where graduates do not stick to a singular career, which High Fliers fails to take into account. This
reduces the reliability of High Fliers' statement as they have disregarded modern trends in
employment, implying that their research into work experience takes an outdated approach.
Consequently, work experience may help give students an idea of which career to follow but there
is lack of concrete evidence that supports this link. Furthermore, work experience helps with
providing students with valuable skills that will become advantageous in their future career. This is
because work experience can help students gain skills that are appealing to employers (Isherwood,
S. 2017). It has been found that interns rated their work experience as providing a higher level of
career preparation (Gault, J. et al. 2000), which further reinforces the prior statement. In Gault, J et al
study, they analysed and

I didn't choose what my work placement was to be. I turned up at Miss Franklin's office nervously
hoping that I would get a good placement. She sat me down and looked through some documents.
She pulled a wad out and told me that she had found a convenient work placement. She showed me
the letters, and the title was BUPA Hospital,Marketing Department, Bushey. The first thought that
sprang into my head was, how tedious. Then I took some time to think about the ups and downs of
it. I do live in Bushey and it is not even five minutes drive from my house. Also my business studies
coursework is about marketing so I might gain some useful knowledge that would help me with that.

friend of hers who answers to my supervisor and was told that she is a great lady and I would have a
lot of fun with her. My mother was also told that there could be a chance of a partā€“time job after
school and on Saturdays. This inspired me to work really hard for them in order try to impress
everyone.
I had not done any research into the company apart from a brief look at their web site but I felt
that I knew sufficient information for a preliminary interview. I hoped to learn some very
important life skills and gain some great experience, which would be of use to me in later life. I was
hoping to gain work on computer skills, as I feel I am competent in this area and could impress if I
were to be given the chance. As I did not know a great deal about marketing I was keen to gain as
much knowledge as possible and hospital marketing is a field of its own.
On the whole I looked forward to the week it would be a good experience that should teach me
some useful skills.

Work Experience Between June 30th to July 14th, I had the most nervous and prominent moment of

scrtinous and sceptical about the store and staff standard. He greets my arrival keenly, but
promptiously, and commands the staffs to give me a brief tour and talk about the different places
and daily working procedures of the store. The staffs who gave me the tour seems to be more
caring and willing to answer my doubted queries, comparing to the boss, who was always busy

Work Experience Report I had accepted to do two weeks of work experience at the Boots
Pharmacy, as a shop floor sales assistant. To be honest, I had no idea what the firm manufactured
or the type of work involved. I woke up on a Monday morning, prepared and organized, which was
incredibly unusual. I was extremely enthusiastic about the prospect of working. As I sat on the

are you"? I responded "15", the shocked man said "no way! You look like the new store

then suddenly saw Nina so I stopped my conversation because I didn't want to create a bad

black hair and hazel eyes. She appeared to be a kind lady and seemed pleased that I hade come

would be working with. I had come to this work experience, expecting to do something in the
medicine line. Unfortunately I was on the wrong end of that line. Instead of actually learning how
medicine is made and separated, I was stacking a whole load of drugs and men's deodorant. After
about two minutes I was seriously bored, and this was just the first hour out of the eighty I had to

It all began when my tutor informed us that we have to find our work placements for the two

what and where I wanted to do my work experience. I personally enjoy things associated with

Lunan! I decided I had to do something now or I will have nothing to do; I got out the yellow
pages out and the first pages I looked at were the Sports Centres. The first place I thought of
ringing was Harrow Leisure Centre; they said I could get a placement and told me that I had to
have a C.V. I did as they had asked but when I got there; I was waiting for about thirty minutes
before the head of work experience saw me. He then told me that I would not be able to do work

not told me this over the phone and made me wait for thirty minutes doing nothing, also I had to
walk there in such short notice (I hate walking)! This was the second time I had been messed
about like this and I was furious! At this point, I did not want to go to work experience as I got the
impression that people were rude and inconsiderate and I did not want to work with people like this.
It was now June and I still felt the same, but it was becoming clear to me that I had to find a

When I was told that I would be doing my work experience at Belleview nursing home, working

I went on work experience for a week in June at Natwest Bank in Bakewell. Natwest is part of a

Natwest is a national company and very well known so I felt quite privileged to work for them.

I worked with many different people, such as the manager, cashier, client interviewer and the

as soon as I arrived.
I think a made a helpful contribution to the bank and always did what I was asked to do without
any hesitation and no complaints. I enjoyed doing every task I was set and especially when I was
set to audit the bank's appearance over the week I was there, by filling in the "Topbox Service" in.
It made me feel as if I was helping the bank and that they trusted me to give me this responsibility. I
learnt about how a bank runs and learnt many new skills at me placement and these were:

Work Experience Essay
Work Experience As I woke up one Monday morning, the 7th of July 2003, it hit me. I had work
experience for the next two weeks; it was brilliant, amazing. No school for two weeks. The
excitement of the big wide world out there and homework. It couldn't be better, but it could be
worse and It was the weather outside was appalling cloudy, cold and it was raining and I had to
ride three miles to Quendon, to Red Star Tyre & Exhaust. It wasn't going to be as great as I
thought getting there; the weather was like a cold winter's day, but it wasn't it was the start of
summer. But I made it and pulled up outside a building, which looked as if it had been uninhabited
for years. The place looked like...show more content...
He welcomed me into the workshop and told me his name was Brian. He continued to show me
round the workshop and the grounds of the building. The Garage looked as bad inside as it did
outside and that was a very scary thought. The place was in terrible disrepair, and as I found out
later in the week it was by not fault of the workers but by the big boss man, who according to the
workers was, well it was non repeatable I will tell you that much. The machines inside the
workshop the ones I was told I would be taught how to use were in a very sorry state. I spoke to
Brian to find out why all the equipment was in such a horrible state, he informed me that the
person who runs the company wont buy us any new equipment as it all works fine. He went on to
tell me that it was starting to damage customers cars and that something needed to be done about
it. It made me go back to the idea that the garage was some horrible hospital with it enormous
machinery and with the the workers as crazy doctors experimenting on people. As the first
customer pulled up I saw my idea was not so far as what I first thought. The customer who was a
lady in a terrible state, she was crying and was telling us what had happened. She was in her
husbands car and a lorry forced her into the curb and she had a puncture and the new alloy wheels
were scratched and chipped. I was shown how to take a tyre of a

What inspired you to be a teacher? Why do you love teaching?
Teaching has always come natural to me, as an untraditional learner myself, I was called to this
field as I know firs hand the frustrations and day to day struggles that make learns want to give up.
Fortunately, educational approaches have become more diverse. My goal is to ensure everyone has
an engaging, rewarding experience in learning so they are prepared to be their own best advocates
and that of those they serve.
5. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time or describe an interesting fact about yourself?
My favorite past time is traveling, I have been to 48 states and 17 countries. My favorite state is
Colorado because I can ski, kayak, mountain climb or buzz off in nature! My favorite country is a
tie between Morocco and Sri Lanka, there aren't really any words to describe these wonderfully
captivating wonders of the world. When not wander lusting I can be found at my home with my two
St Bernard's, of course studying as I advance my own educational endeavors.

Work Experience Essay

  • 1. My First Job Experience My First Job Experience "Winning is important to me, but what brings me real joy is the experience of being fully engaged in whatever I'm doing." says Phil Jackson, a former American professional basketball player. People always whine about how their first job experience was terrible and there's only one reason which is not getting enough amount of money for their work. I think people need to think that job is not always about money as I discovered from my first job. About three years back, I had just turned sixteen and had finished 10th grade so I was enjoying my summer vacation just like other kids enjoying their summer vacation after a long school year. One day, my mother said I should get a job. She said it would teach me how to...show more content... The workplace was always very clean, which also created a nice environment around me to focus on my work. That's really a good thing because a nice working environment keeps me safe, healthy, and gives me more energy to do my work. This company was also very well organized. I feel I was one of the lucky one who got a job in very nice and organized company. I received a good salary, had a nice working environment and was given respect by other employees which were really amazing despite being the youngest employee. When I entered in this job, I knew nothing. I was completely inexperienced and unskilled worker but after working here, this job helped me to improve my working skills such as how to communicate with people around me, never try to be hypocrite, stay calm and focus only on my work. Having a job also taught me to value my own work, and what I put into something. As my mother said, this job also taught me how to handle my responsibilities by myself. I became responsible for some of my own expenses. This was a valuable experience for me. I learned the value of the money and taking my own decisions about what I spend my money on. On Short, I feel that if a person works just for the sake of money then there's no point of working. Yes, money is important but no person can enjoy the work if that person is only working there for the sake of Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 3. Reflection On My Work Experience 4.Reflection On My Working Experience Reflective practice is a key way of learning from the experience, it allows to overview the past experience from a different perspective and take actions to benefit it to yourself. Basically, the reflective practice covers a gap between theory and practice that helps to create a strategy for learning and improving (Jasper, 2003). Therefore, an understanding of reflective theories is a key aspect that I should develop before my graduation. In the academic community the most beneficial reflective theories are Gibbs' Reflective Cycle (1988) and Rolfe et al. (2010) Reflective Model, see Figure 2 and 3 in Appendix III. In this report, I will use these two theories to reflect on my internship in Noltaā€“Tur. 4. 1 Reflection on My Work Experience What: Description, Evaluation and Feeling According to my Time log, see Appendix IV, on 27th of July I had a practical task in which I was assigned to compile an itinerary for a threeā€“day group trip to Poland. My written communication and foreign language skills (Estonian and German) were improved when one of the staff members asked me to write emails to organisations with commercial and business purposes. • 4. Background I do not remember very much from my first work experience. I was the coā€“owner of a lemonade stand with my aunt at age 5. We set up on the corner of my grandma's street, which was right next to where the city was doing some road work. We did not make a lot of money, but this was essentially the first time I "worked" for money. From this experience, I learned that a smile and a positive attitude go a long way. My next work experience came when I was around 14 at my stepfather's flooring company. I have been working there for about 6 or 7 years now. I have learned a significant amount from working here. For years I planned on taking the company over but this summer I realized that I'm not passionate about it and could not spend years working there. Though I do not want to work there long term, working at my stepfather's company has taught me a lot about owning and operating a company. I have learned a lot about interacting with peopleā€“ customers, suppliers, and people that want to bring you down. It has been a truly unique experience because I have seen the company grow and I have grown up with it. Also, since coming to LMU and studying business, I'm seen as more of a supervisor and leader. I have implemented a few changes that have greatly improved the efficiency from what I have learned in various classes I have taken so far. I also worked briefly in the LMU library and quit after one semester because my supervisor barely acknowledged my existence and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Reflection On Work Experience Throughout the course of my workplace practices class I have participated in a consisted of completing assignments and work experience regarding my career pathways. As I look back and reflect on my time at this course, I am able to explore the graduate qualities and capabilities I have achieved over the duration of this study period, as well as the skills and abilities I need to improve on. Graduate qualities are skills that have been learned by students throughout the course of their schooling life, for example, it is a learning outcome of a program specifically stating the things that's been learned by students who have completed that program of study. In this reflection, I will be discussing about my strength and weakness personal...show more content... Furthermore, preparing and packing the cafŠ“Ā© every morning and afternoon depended on how well we worked as team, for example helping another worker when you have finished you own workload. My main strength in this whole course would be my personal development, as I was able to gain my own skills, attitudes, and knowledge, such as my technological skills for example, how to source useful information that is relevant to my work. Another example is becoming more confident about myself, as I am able to freely express my emotion without thinking of any sort of limitation that will limit my progress of taking risks for the fear of failure. Reflecting on the Graduate Qualities and Capabilities Framework, I still feel the need to improve on my communication, planning and organisation skills. It is evident to me that these qualities are my weakest qualities that need to be enhanced. I think I am lacking in these qualities, as I do not participate in any school or outside school coā€“curricular activities anymore. This is due to me not being organised, as I do not set a straight direction for myself to follow. I am also a very introverted person when it comes to communicating with people. Planning a set of task for myself to achieve can be hard to follow at times, however I am persistent enough to get it done. I am able to improve on my communication skills by becoming more involved with the society around me, such as volunteering to help in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Working Experience is More Important than Education It's been a question that society has debated for a long time. Does education or work experience provide the most benefits and therefore hold more importance for children and society as a whole? Many people believe that it's the most important for children to spend time becoming highly educated so that they can obtain great jobs. Others believe that children and adults should gain work experience instead because this will lead to better jobs. Both sides have their benefits and their support. However it's the goal of this paper to inform that work experience plays a larger, and more important role in the ability of children to grow and adults to locate a job upon their graduation or...show more content... The person with work experience will know what it's like working in a real kitchen or a real garage instead of just what it should be like according to a manual. Learning or knowing in theory how something works (which is all that you can learn from education) does not give you the skills necessary to actually go out and do the job. The next important thing to focus on when deciding between education and work experience is time. An employer will hire someone new for a job because they need more workers. They need an additional person that can help them to do whatever that job is and they need it to be done quickly. They don't hire people just to have extras on hand. According to Steph (2011), if someone is hired that only has the education and no work experience they won't be able to do what needs done when it's time to get their hands dirty. Someone with experience will need to show them what to do (L., 2011). That means the person with experience will not be working like they normally would and the educated person will also not be performing any work. Both of these people will be taking up time and not producing anything at all. This is definitely not what an employer wants when they hire new workers but it's what they get when they choose higher education over increased work experience. Another important factor is money. In the business world, time is money. Everyone has heard this little slogan before and that's because it's true. If someone Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Work Experience Essay Work Experience I absolutely had no idea what I wanted to do for work experience. I had about three different options, but I always had a negative thoughts. One was to work in a bank of any sort. Well, the good things were that I think it would be fun and it does make you look smart and important. The negatives where that, to be totally honest, I was really good at money! I wasn't that smart in maths and was also a bit careless. I thought that working in a bank would make me have big responsibilities (like handling money or talking to customers) too big that I couldn't even handle. There was no way that I was going to go to a bank and make a total klutz of myself. All I thought about when I...show more content... To be honest when I grow up I wanted to be a lawyer. But I'm sure, again, on my first day they won't let me exactly sort out a case will they? No, I didn't think so. They would make it sound hard and probably give me papers to read. I know it sounds stupid, but I just want to be a lawyer. I don't want to sit and study for 5 years in college or university; I just wanted to be a lawyer. I had been watching too many movies and it's tempting. Movies like, Legally Blonde or similar types, makes it sound like being a lawyer is fun and no actual hard work is needed. But I knew that was impossible! Out of my three options, I chose the primary school. My overall experience working in Carlton Primary School was quite good. I had lots of fun during the week. I never expected it to be like that. I walked to school and arrive there at 8:30am, feeling nervous. Questions buzzed in my mind, like what if they don't like me? What if they say I look funny? What if they laugh at my clothes? You wouldn't expect someone to be fully excited in there first placement would you? I was excited but had a nervous feeling inside too. But as usual, everything went great! I was introduced to the children and they all seem to like me, they were a bit quite and shy on my first day there, but after that, it's like they've known me for years! Learning takes place in many aspects, but for me I learned so much by my experiences. From my first job all the way to my current job. My experiences make me who I am today; After high school I went to college and graduated with an associates degree in legal studies this is I learned from my law teacher Ms. Campbell that " you won 't know the law by memorization but by Application" and that stuck with me all these years and I apply that fundamental principle to life. My Job at J.C.Penny was one of the first learning experiences that I had in the workforce. I learned so much allow me to explain. I started as a sales support associate and as a sales support associate I was in charge of offering items to clients and giving those clients any help as required amid the sales procedure. Also, to create and keep up positive client connections to guarantee clients retention. As a Sales supports associate I was required to met organizational objectives, (for example, those identified with deals) and work inside organization rules and directions at all times. This was just the tip of the iceberg for my customer experience exposure. Then after four months I got promoted to sales associate/ cashier. Everything is just like the usual. Restock utensils, greet customers, take orders, collect payments, and clean up. At seventeen, wanting to save up for my postā€“secondary tuition, I decided to work a part time job alongside school. I thought that not only does it give me money, it can also give me valuable work experience. Working at a part time job sounds like a perfect opportunity for me. However, after this experience, my perspective of working in the service industry completely changed. This was my first real job. With my improved work habits, I slowly began to catch up on school. Also, I began to know my coworkers better, and I get to spend more time with my friend there. Moreover, after knowing how the store functions and learning all the menu items, the work became easier as well. I started to really enjoy this job despite getting some wrist injuries from scooping ice cream. Then, something happened. It was near the end of my 11ā€“hour shift on a Sunday. It was quite busy as it was a hot summer night. The line was almost to the outside of the door while there was only two of us working. A man and his son walked in. They stood there and stared at the menu for a while. As they decide for what they want, my coā€“worker and I work fast "I want these two flavours!" The child demanded. The father smiled and agreed. "You cannot say no to what a kid wants", he causes a scene while a huge line of customers is waiting behind him impatiently to be served. He continued to yell and reason. • 10. My Experience For My Work Experience My work experience professor, Deborah Kitchin, gave a presentation during our class orientation in October 2017 and stated that the aim of the course is to learn while working. I truly believe this class has helped me achieve that goal. During the past twoā€“andā€“aā€“half months that I have worked at my current job, I have gained valuable insight about not only customer service and communication, but also general workplace etiquette. However, there are still a few aspects of my work experience that I would like to improve, especially considering I plan to build a career in the music industry. I was born and raised in the Bayviewā€“Hunters Point neighborhood of San Francisco. When I was two years old, a doctor diagnosed me with borderline autism, a disorder that affects my social and communication skills but also enhances some of my natural abilities. For instance, I have played the piano by ear since the age of three, which laid the groundwork for my journey towards my dream career as a music producer. Additionally, I am exceptionally bright and hardā€“working; during all three years of middle school, an educational organization celebrated me and numerous Africanā€“American youth in San Francisco for maintaining a GPA of 4.0 or close to it. This has made my family incredibly proud and may even inspire my younger brother, a junior in high school, to achieve the same aspiration. Aside from producing music, I have recently taken up songwriting; I enjoy thinking about lyric and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Importance Of Work Experience There has been an increase in number of students who have participated in work experience over the years, this can be mainly due to the fact that work experience has been heavily promoted by universities and employers. However, undergraduates still lack the proper understanding of the true benefit work experience offers as they view work experience as a chore rather than a valuable experience. Therefore, the range of academia explored in this essay demonstrates the necessity of work experience within undergraduates in order to expand skills, assets and prospects that they can use after graduation. This essay explores evidence that supports the three main benefits of work experience, which are; increasing students' awareness of different...show more content... Also, this will create further issues in the future as those who lack career planning could have trouble transitioning into work (Isherwood, S. 2017), meaning that work experience helps to create a stressā€“ free future in career context. However, The Guardian suggests that undergraduates do not have to worry about career planning due to the emergence of gig economy and portfolio career, where graduates do not stick to a singular career, which High Fliers fails to take into account. This reduces the reliability of High Fliers' statement as they have disregarded modern trends in employment, implying that their research into work experience takes an outdated approach. Consequently, work experience may help give students an idea of which career to follow but there is lack of concrete evidence that supports this link. Furthermore, work experience helps with providing students with valuable skills that will become advantageous in their future career. This is because work experience can help students gain skills that are appealing to employers (Isherwood, S. 2017). It has been found that interns rated their work experience as providing a higher level of career preparation (Gault, J. et al. 2000), which further reinforces the prior statement. • 12. Work Experience Essay examples Work Experience I didn't choose what my work placement was to be. I turned up at Miss Franklin's office nervously hoping that I would get a good placement. She sat me down and looked through some documents. She pulled a wad out and told me that she had found a convenient work placement. She showed me the letters, and the title was BUPA Hospital,Marketing Department, Bushey. The first thought that sprang into my head was, how tedious. Then I took some time to think about the ups and downs of it. I do live in Bushey and it is not even five minutes drive from my house. Also my business studies coursework is about marketing so I might gain some useful knowledge that would help me with that. Miss...show more content... My mother is friendly with quite a lot of people who work at BUPA. She spoke to quite a close friend of hers who answers to my supervisor and was told that she is a great lady and I would have a lot of fun with her. My mother was also told that there could be a chance of a partā€“time job after school and on Saturdays. This inspired me to work really hard for them in order try to impress everyone. I had not done any research into the company apart from a brief look at their web site but I felt that I knew sufficient information for a preliminary interview. I hoped to learn some very important life skills and gain some great experience, which would be of use to me in later life. I was hoping to gain work on computer skills, as I feel I am competent in this area and could impress if I were to be given the chance. As I did not know a great deal about marketing I was keen to gain as much knowledge as possible and hospital marketing is a field of its own. On the whole I looked forward to the week it would be a good experience that should teach me some useful skills. The staffs who gave me the tour seems to be more caring and willing to answer my doubted queries, comparing to the boss, who was always busy and promptious at scrutinating the state of store, and checking the store finance balance. It shock me hearing that the tasks I've been given involve vastly of manual work, instead of more academic work, relevant to my present experience and knowledge, that I gain in school. The tasks of managing the store stock, needs years of experience, good strategical thinking skills, plus having top physical state. To be honest, I had no idea what the firm manufactured or the type of work involved. I woke up on a Monday morning, prepared and organized, which was incredibly unusual. I was extremely enthusiastic about the prospect of working. As I sat on the H91 bus with my mp3 music player on, questions kept coming across my head like, 'what will it be like?' And 'what will people think of me?' I wasn't really anxious but more excited. I reached at the pharmacy 20 minutes early. You look like the new store Manager". I couldn't help myself from laughing and replied, "I'm here on work experience". I then suddenly saw Nina so I stopped my conversation because I didn't want to create a bad impression. She took me to the head pharmacist, Mrs Kapoor. Mrs Kapoor then introduced me to the members of staff I would be working with. I had come to this work experience, expecting to do something in the medicine line. Unfortunately I was on the wrong end of that line. Instead of actually learning how medicine is made and separated, I was stacking a whole load of drugs and men's deodorant. After about two minutes I was seriously bored, and this was just the first hour out of the eighty I had to do. • 15. Work Experience Essay Work Experience Essay It all began when my tutor informed us that we have to find our work placements for the two weeks of work experience. When we were first told about work experience I thought to my self 'great no school for two weeks.' I was looking forward to looking around places and trying to figure out what and where I wanted to do my work experience. I personally enjoy things associated with Sports and helping people so I wanted to do something along these lines. I started looking around areas of work I could look into, and then phoned up some of these places to see if they did work experience in advance. My parents were nagging me to get my placement sorted, as well as my tutor and Mrs. Lunan! I decided I had to do something now or I will have nothing to do; I got out the yellow pages out and the first pages I looked at were the Sports Centres. The first place I thought of ringing was Harrow Leisure Centre; they said I could get a placement and told me that I had to have a C.V. I did as they had asked but when I got there; I was waiting for about thirty minutes before the head of work experience saw me. He then told me that I would not be able to do work experience there as all the placements had been taken. At this point, I was annoyed as they had not told me this over the phone and made me wait for thirty minutes doing nothing, also I had to walk there in such short notice (I hate walking)! This was the second time I had been messed about like this and I was furious! At this point, I did not want to go to work experience as I got the impression that people were rude and inconsiderate and I did not want to work with people like this. It was now June and I still felt the same, but it was becoming clear to me that I had to find a placement in the next few days Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. Work Experience Essay Work Experience Work experience was an opportunity for me, and many other year 10 students across the country to experience a different world, a world outside school, a world of work. To many this was a new opportunity, a challenge if you like, but to me it wasn't all that new as I have worked for my dad at his work far from few times before. I found that working for my dad was challenging, sometimes difficult, but I always managed to get the work done and get that feel of self achievement. The feeling of self achievement is a wonderful feeling, some may say better than sex, I wouldn't go that far, but it is good. Work experience started on June 1st 2002. I did quite like her at the time, so I spent some time talking to her. After about a hour I took the food back to work and ate my lunch. That was about the highlight of my first day. For the next four days I had random little jobs that gave me no sense of self achievement what so ever, but I suppose that's life. That Friday I got home from work and received a phone call from Nick, a good friend, I say good friend, I really mean someone who I tolerate, it turned out that he had a little business proposition for me, it didn't start off as a business proposition but I soon found away to make money out of it. He wanted to get rid of his computer, and seeing as I was working at Dunmow Computers I knew a guy that might want to buy it, I negotiated a price with Nick and finally got him down to one hundred pounds. Essay about My Work Experience My Work Experience When I was told that I would be doing my work experience at Belleview nursing home, working with old sick people I found that it was a very daunting prospect. After my first day there, that had all changed. I made my way to work on Monday 6th of June by the service bus at 8.30am to be at my workplace by 9.00am. The thought of meeting new people and trying to act mature in an environment I was not sure of scared me. As my week progressed at the nursing home, so did my capabilities I grew more confident in the tasks I was being asked to perform. I was beginning to feel part of the team. Getting to know my work mates on a daily basis made me feel that any problems I would be facing with the patients would be quickly diminished by simply asking for help on anything I wasn't sure of. I began helping with the bathing, dressing, feeding and aiding them with their toilet needs. Although the patients were old not all of them were ill, therefore they needed exercise and showing them exercise videos where we all joined in. This made it a fun time for them, thus making their day much more bearable. My days here were passing quickly in the workplace as the patients kept me busy.
