Reflective practice is a key way of learning from the experience, it allows to overview the past
experience from a different perspective and take actions to benefit it to yourself. Basically, the
reflective practice covers a gap between theory and practice that helps to create a strategy for learning
and improving (Jasper, 2003). Therefore, an understanding of reflective theories is a key aspect that
I should develop before my graduation.
In the academic community the most beneficial reflective theories are Gibbs' Reflective Cycle
(1988) and Rolfe et al. (2010) Reflective Model, see Figure 2 and 3 in Appendix III. In this report, I
will use these two theories to reflect on my internship in Nolta–Tur.

During that week, I had an individual time with each worker of the company when I had time to ask
questions about the workplace culture. I prepared a list of questions and categorised them in the
matter of importance and areas of activity. During those sessions, I have improved my verbal

Background I do not remember very much from my first work experience. I was the co–owner of a
lemonade stand with my aunt at age 5. We set up on the corner of my grandma's street, which was
right next to where the city was doing some road work. We did not make a lot of money, but this

My work experience professor, Deborah Kitchin, gave a presentation during our class orientation in
October 2017 and stated that the aim of the course is to learn while working. I truly believe this

pages out and the first pages I looked at were the Sports Centres. The first place I thought of
ringing was Harrow Leisure Centre; they said I could get a placement and told me that I had to
have a C.V. I did as they had asked but when I got there; I was waiting for about thirty minutes
before the head of work experience saw me. He then told me that I would not be able to do work
experience there as all the placements had been taken. At this point, I was annoyed as they had
not told me this over the phone and made me wait for thirty minutes doing nothing, also I had to

One particular patient, Lizzie, who was 97 and looked very sad, and confused, due to her dementia,
thinking that she was still at home during the war and thought she was a sixteen year old girl. I
thought of how she must have felt, having the mind of a sixteen year old but the body of a ninety
seven year old. She made me feel sad for her but feeling sorry for the patients doesn't help in the
caring profession. Therefore I had to focus on the job I was there to do.

I went on work experience for a week in June at Natwest Bank in Bakewell. Natwest is part of a
larger organisation called the Royal Bank of Scotland Group. The Royal Bank of Scotland bought
Natwest in March 2000 for ВЈ21 billion which was the biggest take–over in British banking history.
Natwest is a national company and very well known so I felt quite privileged to work for them.
Also the Bakewell branch was of a very high standard of service from the checks they get every
month as I was shown the data of this when I went to visit them. From working in a banking

I worked with many different people, such as the manager, cashier, client interviewer and the
receptionist. The people I worked with were very helpful and kind to me helping me in every way
they could. The manager was especially kind to me and made me feel welcome and part of the bank
as soon as I arrived.
I think a made a helpful contribution to the bank and always did what I was asked to do without
any hesitation and no complaints. I enjoyed doing every task I was set and especially when I was
set to audit the bank's appearance over the week I was there, by filling in the "Topbox Service" in.
It made me feel as if I was helping the bank and that they trusted me to give me this responsibility. I
learnt about how a bank runs and learnt many new skills at me placement and these were:

Work Experience As I woke up one Monday morning, the 7th of July 2003, it hit me. I had work
experience for the next two weeks; it was brilliant, amazing. No school for two weeks. The
excitement of the big wide world out there and homework. It couldn't be better, but it could be
worse and It was the weather outside was appalling cloudy, cold and it was raining and I had to

He welcomed me into the workshop and told me his name was Brian. He continued to show me
round the workshop and the grounds of the building. The Garage looked as bad inside as it did
outside and that was a very scary thought. The place was in terrible disrepair, and as I found out
later in the week it was by not fault of the workers but by the big boss man, who according to the
workers was, well it was non repeatable I will tell you that much. The machines inside the
workshop the ones I was told I would be taught how to use were in a very sorry state. I spoke to
Brian to find out why all the equipment was in such a horrible state, he informed me that the
person who runs the company wont buy us any new equipment as it all works fine. He went on to
tell me that it was starting to damage customers cars and that something needed to be done about
it. It made me go back to the idea that the garage was some horrible hospital with it enormous
machinery and with the the workers as crazy doctors experimenting on people. As the first
customer pulled up I saw my idea was not so far as what I first thought. The customer who was a
lady in a terrible state, she was crying and was telling us what had happened. She was in her
husbands car and a lorry forced her into the curb and she had a puncture and the new alloy wheels

current faculty position?
I have over 16 years' experience as a hospice and palliative care social worker, during which time I
provided educational and counseling services to individuals facing end of life, their primary care
giver, families and community supports. I also provided in services to community resources on
subjects such as preparing for end of life and advance care directives, bereavement and how the
hospice industry is expanding and changing. I also served as the supervisor for a staff over 10+

What inspired you to be a teacher? Why do you love teaching?
Teaching has always come natural to me, as an untraditional learner myself, I was called to this
field as I know firs hand the frustrations and day to day struggles that make learns want to give up.
Fortunately, educational approaches have become more diverse. My goal is to ensure everyone has
an engaging, rewarding experience in learning so they are prepared to be their own best advocates
and that of those they serve.
5. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time or describe an interesting fact about yourself?
My favorite past time is traveling, I have been to 48 states and 17 countries. My favorite state is
Colorado because I can ski, kayak, mountain climb or buzz off in nature! My favorite country is a
tie between Morocco and Sri Lanka, there aren't really any words to describe these wonderfully
captivating wonders of the world. When not wander lusting I can be found at my home with my two
St Bernard's, of course studying as I advance my own educational endeavors.
