Writing A Speech Outline
In preparation for the speech I have read chapters 1–4 from the book. I have made it a point to
familiarize myself with the speech outline given. The easiest for me was reading. The book is quite
interesting and is easier to read than my other textbooks. The most challenging is the choice of
topic. I have trouble decided what I can pick to have the best effect on my audience. After I don't
want to write something I know I haven't put all my thought into. If that were the case I would risk
having a dull speech, which isn't fun for anyone.

Slave Lives and Weapons
Slaves helped forge weapons for Union and Confederates that were used during the battle. Those
weapons were cannons, muskets, rifles, pistols, grenades, and Gatling gun which are repeating
guns an early machine gun that could fire up to 600 rounds per minute. Melee weapons they used
were swords, sabers, knives and derringer.Slaves really played an important role during the war.
Sometimes slaves were sent on suicide missions to prevent the deaths of white soldiers. It was
harsh for some soldiers and slaves since they were underaged and really didn't know how to fire a
gun. They helped build fortifications in order to keep away extreme injuries that can later affect the
soldier's life. It can prevent severe injuries that would cost a soldier their

MLA Rough Draft
1.When writing, whether you paraphrase or directly quote someone else's ideas anywhere in your
paper, you must document the use of those borrowed ideas with an internal citation notation. In
MLA, there are two basic features of an internal citation. What are they?
In–text citation – This is a parenthetical citation within the paper that refers the reader to a list of
works cited. It commonly includes the author of the source and a page number, and punctuation
separates the author's last name and the page number. Nor is the abbreviation p. (for "page") used.
The period that ends the sentence appears after the closing parenthesis. 2.In MLA, if you work
(include) the identity of the source into the sentence structure, where do page numbers...show more

In MLA, how are the works cited entries organized on the Work(s) Cited page?
пѓ Tell me how to arrange a works cited list on the page. No example required.
пЃ¶Create a new page at the end of your paper for a "Works Cited" list. Center the words "Works
Cited" at the top of the page. Double space after the title and begin entering citations.
пЃ¶Entries are listed alphabetically by the last name of the author or by the first major word of the
title if no author is given. If a source has more than one author, it is alphabetized by the last name of
the author whose name appears first. The entries are not numbered.
пЃ¶Entries are double–spaced.
пЃ¶The first line of each entry begins at the left margin. If more than one line is needed to complete
the entry, additional lines are indented five spaces or half an inch (this is called a hanging indent).
6.In MLA, if the source's identity is not worked into (written as part of) your sentence structure, how
does the internal citation look the first time you create it? Use your last name and page number 123
to illustrate your answer.
To correctly answer question 6, show me (don't tell me) how an internal citation looks the first time
you cite it in your paper, using your name as the source and page number 123 to complete your
response. You don't need to write a sentence first, just show me the

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your
mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The
truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in
the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can
explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses.
Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before
taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and
unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I
struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to
the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class
that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the
whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for
navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I
have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in
English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

Public Speaking Outline
Have you ever felt like you wrote a suitable п»їpaper, but you did not look at your time limit, and
you did not read over it? I have written a paper in my public speaking class about a person I
admire and I chose my mother. When you have a paper that's due you should always plan out and let
someone check your paper all within a timely manner.
To begin, you should always try to create an outline for your paper. When I create an outline it helps
me understand the paper that I am writing. The outline is like a step by step instructions. It helps
you complete your whole project In record time. Another point is that the outline makes my paper
more organized. My paper would have a rhythm and it would be in an orderly fashion. The last
thing is that I believe me making an outline helped my instructor understand what I am trying to
say. Then I would have gotten a decent grade because he would understand the order I put it in as
well as the reasons behind it. As you can see, outlining helps with a paper, but, if you do not check
and look over it you could have some errors....show more content...

it to make sure he read it correctly. The result of me rushing and not having my paper was that I
could not present the actual speech. For that reason I would not get a grade for that speech, so It
would be a zero. Proofreading is important when writing a paper but, if you don't pay attention you

Engl. 102 Poetry Essay
"Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" a Review
English 102
Liberty University

Poetry Thesis and Outline
While reviewing "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening", it should be noted that the key is the
rhythm of the language. The first, second, and fourth sentence rime while the third sentence of each
rimes with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd sentence of the next stanza. In relation with the cryptic language
draws the question, there is a more sinister back drop of loneliness and depression in this poem
much deeper than the level of nature orated by the Narator. I. First Stanza
A. Frost opens with describing who's woods we are viewing
1. Does it matter who's woods
B. No one is...show more content...
Frost further points out that the stretch of woods being viewed is very rural. This is made possible
by the reference to the location between the woods and frozen lake. In closing the final sentence of
the second stanza Frost reiterates the fact that this occurs on "the darkest evening of the year" stating
the darkness of the mood.
In the following stanza Frost returns to the horse, which "gives his harness bells a shake". This is
the first of only two sounds listed in the entire poem. Sounds might normally be associated with a
person in a lighter more jovial mood. Frost uses the lack of sound to put the narrator into what
appears to be a deep process of thought. As the poem moves further allon it is clear that Frost is not
thinking of other sounds or even the feelings which would be associated with this type of event.
There is no mention of the temperature only the implication of the snow falling, and the frozen lake.
Yet the sounds are slightly present, similar to an athlete who is preparing for the event. Frost is
quiet, internalizing his thoughts, focusing on the task at hand, and not sensing the other areas of life
in the world around him.
In the fourth and final stanza Frost uses the riming of all four sentences to draw the reader into the
climax of the poem, "the woods are lovely dark and deep/ But I have promises to keep/ and miles to
go before I sleep/ and miles to go before I sleep". This grouping leads the reader to feel that

Essay About My English Class
I can remember seeing that I had to take an English class my first semester of college. I was
already overwhelmed with starting college, and having to write college essays made me get even
more nervous. I sat down with my mom and decided to look at the English classes available, and I
finally decided that I had to take an evening class to make it work in my schedule. The first day of
English came and now looking back it was not as bad as I thought. It made me a better writer and be
where I am today. It may have taken me some time to get where I am today, but at least I am on
the right track. English Composition helped me realize that I am my own author and have strengths
that I did not realize I had. When I first started college I did not know what to expect with an
English class. I liked writing about topics that interested me, but high school did not allow me to do
that. I took American History and we would have to write...show more content...
I learned many techniques from my professor. He helped me realize that it is okay to have your

technique before submitting all my essays. I can remember having to write my first essay and I
was scared, because I felt like I had to get a good grade. I started thinking about what tools I could
use to help me, and I decided to go to The Learning Center to help with my essay. When I went
there they would make edits to my essay and then explain what I should change. The tutor noticed I
used multiple choppy sentences and commas in spots there should not be. Sometimes I would even
go twice to make sure I did not miss any minor mistakes. Going there helped me feel more confident
as a writer and I learned from my mistakes. I had many helpful techniques from multiple people that
shaped me into the writer I am

English in My Life Essay
When my teacher said "good morning" to me on the very first day of school, I knew
that she would be teaching a tough subject. She didn't get any answer for that greeting because back
then, I knew nothing about "good morning". Surprisingly, as I went through the class
session on that day, I realized that "good morning" wasn't the first English phrase that
I'd known. English has been rooted in my society long before my country achieved its
independence and shockingly I've used some of its words in my daily speech without realizing it
because the words were fully modified by the society so that they could be installed smoothly into
our language. Learning English was always an interesting yet tough experience...show more content...
When someone speaks English in my society, he or she feels a sense of withdrawal because they
are set apart to a very small group in the society. People tend to belittle this group for speaking
other languages, and normally they will end up speaking their first language to comply with the
larger group in the society. With all these reasons, my interest towards English was completely
gone when I enrolled in secondary school, six years after my formal `encounter' with the English
language. For having this negative feeling, I became a member of a large group of students who
had never realized the significance of the English language. One day was unusually dull. I was
waiting for the teacher to come to the class and instead of revising my past English lessons that I
rarely cared about, I prayed that she wouldn't show up that day. After ten minutes' wait, she entered
the class saying "good morning". The greeting didn't bother me much, but when she
came to me asking for the assignment that she gave the day before, I was speechless and I just
gave her the blank handout that I was supposed to complete for that day. Her face showed no
emotion and with that she ripped the paper into pieces. That day marked a massive change in my
attitude toward English lessons and the English language in general. The incident was very
important to me because I then realized that even in a subtle way, language represents people and to
respect the language means to respect

Explain My Expectation Of English 1101
Of the many expectations I have of English 1101, three are very important to me: improving my
vocabulary, communication skills, and the ability to enhance my writing skills. During college the
most fundamental class will be English. English will help me with all subjects in my curriculum, by
building better communication skills, and will help with me with everyday life. In today's world of
increased communications, particularly of a digital nature, writing skills are an important aspect of
expression on a personal, professional and educational level. People send written communications
more frequently and quickly than ever in the form of text messages, emails and social media updates.

The most important expectation I have of a college–level English course is developing excellent
communication skills. Having excellent communication skills means I will be able to comprehend
more things adequately. Everything you do in the life results in a from communication. Reading,
writing, speaking and listening are forms of communication that we use everyday. These skills are
very important when communicating in careers where peoples lives could be on the line, money is

have drastic results. Many people believe that a one degree increase in the temperature will not
cause much harm. The truth is with every degree of increase in temperature a 100 more wildlife
species are put in danger of extinction. Numerous experiments and studies prove that an increased
level of greenhouse gases, mainly carbon dioxide, is causing climate change and causing it fast.
2) Human Activities
A) Burning of fossil fuels–This is the most prominent and deadly source of climate change. Burning
of fossil fuels can release greenhouse gases ranging from carbon dioxide to ammonia. With massive
industrialization currently going on, the amount of fossil fuels burned is increasing. Transport and
heating are also major energy sources. Almost 7 giga tonnes of Carbon dioxide is emitted per year.
In the U.K three–fourths of energy produced comes from fossil fuels. Mineral fuels like petroleum
and coal are major sources of energy. In the last 150 years more than 45 Billion tonnes of carbon
dioxide has been emitted .The most problematic factor is that in the last decade; there has been no
slowdown in carbon emissions.
B) Poor use of land–Plants are the only natural purifiers of air and also the most abundant. But,

The easiest for me was reading. The book is quite interesting and is easier to read than my other textbooks. The most challenging is the choice of topic. Slave Lives and Weapons Slaves helped forge weapons for Union and Confederates that were used during the battle. Those weapons were cannons, muskets, rifles, pistols, grenades, and Gatling gun which are repeating guns an early machine gun that could fire up to 600 rounds per minute. Melee weapons they used were swords, sabers, knives and derringer.Slaves really played an important role during the war. Sometimes slaves were sent on suicide missions to prevent the deaths of white soldiers. It was harsh for some soldiers and slaves since they were underaged and really didn't know how to fire a gun. They helped build fortifications in order to keep away extreme injuries that can later affect the soldier's life. MLA Rough Draft 1.When writing, whether you paraphrase or directly quote someone else's ideas anywhere in your paper, you must document the use of those borrowed ideas with an internal citation notation. In MLA, there are two basic features of an internal citation. What are they? In–text citation – This is a parenthetical citation within the paper that refers the reader to a list of works cited. It commonly includes the author of the source and a page number, and punctuation separates the author's last name and the page number. Nor is the abbreviation p. (for "page") used. The period that ends the sentence appears after the closing parenthesis. 2.In MLA, if you work (include) the identity of the source into the sentence structure, where do page numbers...show more content... • 5. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. • 7. Public Speaking Outline Have you ever felt like you wrote a suitable п»їpaper, but you did not look at your time limit, and you did not read over it? I have written a paper in my public speaking class about a person I admire and I chose my mother. When you have a paper that's due you should always plan out and let someone check your paper all within a timely manner. To begin, you should always try to create an outline for your paper. When I create an outline it helps me understand the paper that I am writing. The outline is like a step by step instructions. It helps you complete your whole project In record time. Another point is that the outline makes my paper more organized. My paper would have a rhythm and it would be in an orderly fashion. The last thing is that I believe me making an outline helped my instructor understand what I am trying to say. Then I would have gotten a decent grade because he would understand the order I put it in as well as the reasons behind it. As you can see, outlining helps with a paper, but, if you do not check and look over it you could have some errors....show more content... My instructor probably could not understand certain words and would have no choice but to go back and read it to make sure he read it correctly. The result of me rushing and not having my paper was that I could not present the actual speech. For that reason I would not get a grade for that speech, so It would be a zero. • 8. Engl. 102 Poetry Essay "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" a Review English 102 Liberty University 4/21/2014 Poetry Thesis and Outline While reviewing "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening", it should be noted that the key is the rhythm of the language. The first, second, and fourth sentence rime while the third sentence of each rimes with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd sentence of the next stanza. In relation with the cryptic language draws the question, there is a more sinister back drop of loneliness and depression in this poem much deeper than the level of nature orated by the Narator. I. First Stanza A. Frost opens with describing who's woods we are viewing 1. Does it matter who's woods B. No one is...show more content... Frost further points out that the stretch of woods being viewed is very rural. This is made possible by the reference to the location between the woods and frozen lake. In closing the final sentence of the second stanza Frost reiterates the fact that this occurs on "the darkest evening of the year" stating the darkness of the mood. In the following stanza Frost returns to the horse, which "gives his harness bells a shake". This is the first of only two sounds listed in the entire poem. Sounds might normally be associated with a person in a lighter more jovial mood. Frost uses the lack of sound to put the narrator into what appears to be a deep process of thought. As the poem moves further allon it is clear that Frost is not thinking of other sounds or even the feelings which would be associated with this type of event. There is no mention of the temperature only the implication of the snow falling, and the frozen lake. Yet the sounds are slightly present, similar to an athlete who is preparing for the event. Frost is quiet, internalizing his thoughts, focusing on the task at hand, and not sensing the other areas of life in the world around him. In the fourth and final stanza Frost uses the riming of all four sentences to draw the reader into the climax of the poem, "the woods are lovely dark and deep/ But I have promises to keep/ and miles to go before I sleep/ and miles to go before I sleep". This grouping leads the reader to feel that Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 11. Essay About My English Class I can remember seeing that I had to take an English class my first semester of college. I was already overwhelmed with starting college, and having to write college essays made me get even more nervous. I sat down with my mom and decided to look at the English classes available, and I finally decided that I had to take an evening class to make it work in my schedule. The first day of English came and now looking back it was not as bad as I thought. It made me a better writer and be where I am today. It may have taken me some time to get where I am today, but at least I am on the right track. English Composition helped me realize that I am my own author and have strengths that I did not realize I had. When I first started college I did not know what to expect with an English class. I can remember having to write my first essay and I was scared, because I felt like I had to get a good grade. I started thinking about what tools I could use to help me, and I decided to go to The Learning Center to help with my essay. When I went there they would make edits to my essay and then explain what I should change. The tutor noticed I used multiple choppy sentences and commas in spots there should not be. • 14. English in My Life Essay When my teacher said "good morning" to me on the very first day of school, I knew that she would be teaching a tough subject. She didn't get any answer for that greeting because back then, I knew nothing about "good morning". Surprisingly, as I went through the class session on that day, I realized that "good morning" wasn't the first English phrase that I'd known. English has been rooted in my society long before my country achieved its independence and shockingly I've used some of its words in my daily speech without realizing it because the words were fully modified by the society so that they could be installed smoothly into our language. Learning English was always an interesting yet tough experience...show more content... When someone speaks English in my society, he or she feels a sense of withdrawal because they are set apart to a very small group in the society. People tend to belittle this group for speaking other languages, and normally they will end up speaking their first language to comply with the larger group in the society. With all these reasons, my interest towards English was completely gone when I enrolled in secondary school, six years after my formal `encounter' with the English language. For having this negative feeling, I became a member of a large group of students who had never realized the significance of the English language. One day was unusually dull. I was waiting for the teacher to come to the class and instead of revising my past English lessons that I rarely cared about, I prayed that she wouldn't show up that day. After ten minutes' wait, she entered the class saying "good morning". The greeting didn't bother me much, but when she came to me asking for the assignment that she gave the day before, I was speechless and I just gave her the blank handout that I was supposed to complete for that day. Her face showed no emotion and with that she ripped the paper into pieces. That day marked a massive change in my attitude toward English lessons and the English language in general. The incident was very important to me because I then realized that even in a subtle way, language represents people and to respect the language means to respect Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Without this layer of gases the Earth would be too cold to be inhabited, perhaps 20 degrees cooler than now. But, then amount of gases in this layer must remain constant. Even a slight increase could have drastic results. Many people believe that a one degree increase in the temperature will not cause much harm. The truth is with every degree of increase in temperature a 100 more wildlife species are put in danger of extinction. Numerous experiments and studies prove that an increased level of greenhouse gases, mainly carbon dioxide, is causing climate change and causing it fast. 2) Human Activities A) Burning of fossil fuels–This is the most prominent and deadly source of climate change. Burning of fossil fuels can release greenhouse gases ranging from carbon dioxide to ammonia. With massive industrialization currently going on, the amount of fossil fuels burned is increasing. Transport and heating are also major energy sources. Almost 7 giga tonnes of Carbon dioxide is emitted per year. In the U.K three–fourths of energy produced comes from fossil fuels. Mineral fuels like petroleum and coal are major sources of energy. In the last 150 years more than 45 Billion tonnes of carbon dioxide has been emitted .The most problematic factor is that in the last decade; there has been no slowdown in carbon emissions.
