The realm of product design is a constantly changing environment where technology and style intersect. Every year introduces fresh challenges and exciting trends that mold the future of this captivating art form. In this piece, we delve into the significant trends set to influence the look and functionality of product design in the year 2024.
How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

✅What is C++ Programming?
C++ is an enhanced and extended version of C programming language, developed by Bjarne Stroustrup in 1979 as part of his Ph.D. project. Bjarne developed what he called ‘C with Classes’ (later renamed C++) because he felt limited by the existing programming languages that were not ideal for large scale projects. He used C to build what he wanted because C was already a general-purpose language that was efficient and fast in its operations.

With just C++ programming expertise, you will have excellent job opportunities, salaries, and career prospects. However, for a career based on programming languages such as Java and Python (which are in more demand than C++) or for careers based on front-end, back-end, and full-stack
How Technology Is Changing How We Treat order weed uk
1. Maybe the vibe was throughout the air, in the midst of the anniversary of a protracted-previously summer time of
passion, The moment i planted a variety of irresistibly eccentric beauties. A nodding hippie of the plant, Datisca
cannabina is usually a woody perennial with vaguely cannabislike foliage; it sporting things to do pendulous,
shaggy, fragrant wands of bouquets that set up chains of affection-bead seeds. It transpired to me that if I happen
to be gardening an

been digging the true stage. And just in time to aid the bud tenders amongst us will come a weirdly intriguing
quantity, THE LEAFLY Data TO CANNABIS: A Handbook for that trendy Consumer (Twelve, $27).
It was basically a generate a difference of your time and efforts in advance of a whole new era caught up Although
utilizing the renegades of my era, a lot of whom started buying big on gardening by tucking their herb in between
innocuous houseplants, hiding it in sunny corners of backyards or growing it beneath basement lights. Leafly,
located in Seattle, calls by yourself “The full earth’s most vital cannabis info beneficial source.” Tens of hundreds of
thousands halt by its Web-site and mobile apps every month. The guideline ensures “clarity and expertise” with
the plant that's been all around For The main reason that conclude with the Pleistocene epoch.
There’s little laid again about Massive Ag pot, a whole new style of cultivated landscape which is able to soon
extend from sea to shining sea. In a paean to Charge-totally free-present marketplace capitalism, Leafly factors
out that legalization in sure states has launched a few “broad enlargement” in plant elements — growers can now
settle on among several a huge selection of varieties, which include things like White pressure and Durban Poison
— along with improved excellent and diminished fees, due to market efficiencies and Levels of Competitiveness.
Indica strains are sedative, sativas are invigorating, and hybrids slide someplace among. What winds up within
your stash jar are labeled since the bouquets of a woman plant. The authors describe how cannabinoids “get the
job done their medicinal magic” (magic turning into an excellent promoting and promotion technique) And just
how THC influences us. The pot remaining smoked at Woodstock almost absolutely highlighted THC
concentrations of all-around three p.c; with these days’s genetic modifications, “effective sorts clock in at
Practically 30 per cent.”
Kief, terpenes, decarboxylation and vaping concentrates: There’s a lot more evocative fetishistic language linked to
these buds than most Other folks within a farmer’s earth. You’ll come across cooking hints and sweetness
methods, even encouraged munchie pairings. The wellness success of cigarette cigarette smoking are frivolously
included: There’s no noticeable Web-site hyperlink to lung cancer, but definite “Bodily airway injuries” and
compromised cardiovascular purpose. I don’t see how perfectly becoming nuts groove on lungsful of polycyclic
aromatic hydrocarbons. The book might have concerned no a lot less than a paragraph about the consequences
of cannabis across the constructing brains of adolescents. But that’s a bummer. For people fascinated, I
recommend Kevin P. Hill’s “Cannabis: The Impartial Actual truth of the matter About the World’s Most favored
Weed.”
I Find my bliss in Japanese gardens, and textbooks concerning this refined and evolving type of art maintain
coming and coming. Sophie Walker’s THE JAPANESE Backyard garden (Phaidon, $sixty 9.ninety five) is actually an
bold analyze, established within a framework that’s both of All those historic and thematic (“Tea along with the
Backyard,” Through illustration, which seems like a detail Thomas Mann might need relished). Its stylish pics are
accompanied by impressively eccentric essays. In one of my favorites, the architect John Pawson writes about the
chance to “experience an personal connection with boundless landscape — as though It truly is passing by way of
you and also you thru it” — in the course of the smallest within the Kyoto gardens that entranced him. He
captures, exquisitely, the equilibrium and rhythm of relocating via these rigorously managed Spots. The sculptor
Anish Kapoor weighs in with sights about gardens that don’t just reveal which means but alternatively “look

into” indicating. And the mathematician Marcus du Sautoy receives certainly considerably out While using the
2. strength of fractals in Those people ferns and rocks so extensively recognized while in the Japanese back back
garden — All of this tied on the Pixar normal “Up.” I want this reserve may be 3 times as extended and as
substantial.
If that Strawberry Cough pressure during the “Leafly Guideline” has loosened your tongue, It would be extremely
incredible to recite a litany from your quirky collective nouns we’ve bequeathed the animal kingdom. Examine up
through the use of a Attraction OF GOLDFINCHES: Together with other Wild Gatherings (10 Pace, $14.ninety nine),
by Matt Sewell. Beguiling watercolors depict land, air and drinking water creatures, along with an obstinacy of
buffalo, an unkindness of ravens in addition to a smack of jellyfish. Sewell’s descriptions are superb — describing
when gaggles of geese develop to become skeins of geese, or why swirling hawks counsel boiling h2o inside a
kettle. I am able to just listen to him shouting to his partner and daughters that “We've a bellowing of bullfinches
with regard to the chook feeder, quick!” This is a e-guide of pleasurable oddities, and don’t all of us need to have
to acquire way more of These inside of our life?
To that conclude: In the ’60s and ’70s, J. R. R. Tolkien’s 1937 basic, “The Hobbit,” was A part of Each individual self-
respecting freak’s transportable library. The daddy-and-son team of Walter S. Judd, a biologist, and Graham A.
Judd, an artist, beloved the “Lord in the Rings” cycle alongside one another, “immersed in Middle-earth …
transported right into a wondrous land.” But in FLORA OF MIDDLE-EARTH: Plants of J. R. R. Tolkien’s Legendarium
(Oxford, $34.ninety five), the Judds make the situation that these tales give a lot more than an escape from reality.
Instead, they’re meant to possess an impact on “how we talk to Others today and with your complete globe
wherever we Dwell — such as the landscapes of our purely pure pure natural environment.”
What follows is actually an exhaustive accounting in the trees, shrubs, herbs and in addition other vegetation in
Tolkien’s Heart-earth — the crops of our atmosphere and other people, very similar to the White Trees of Gondor,
around the elven environment. Tolkien was a author who confessed to remaining “Substantially in enjoy with
crops and around all trees”; the Judds Take note that vegetation surface on virtually Every and each Web page
web page of “The Hobbit” and “The Lord in the Rings.” I found out myself transported by their discussion of “plant
communities, as altered by hobbits, men and women, elves or angelic beings.” The individuals Hobbits ended up
“wonderful agriculturalists,” increasing hemp for its fiber, maintaining lawns and gardens and battling weeds. Get
heed, ye outstanding organization polluters of now, lest you immediate us for your gates from the defiled land of
Mordor. I’m Although utilizing the more youthful Ent generally known as Quickbeam, who considers trees to
become “fantastic buddies with excellent and sensitive voices.” This volume, with its handsome and haunting
woodcuts, is easiest appreciated in compact doses. It’s heady items, somewhat concentrated. Even so it generated

Get the head into your clouds with AERIAL GEOLOGY: A Excellent-Altitude Tour of North The us’s Amazing
Volcanoes, Canyons, Glaciers, Lakes, Craters and Peaks (Timber, $29.ninety five). What enhanced technique to
introduce geology to any unwilling science university student than the usual e-e-book filled with incredible “who

The planet’s premier piedmont glacier, Alaska’s Malaspina — that may be, absolutely, shrinking as our earth
dangerously warms — continues to be so hefty “the underside has sunk nearly one particular,000 toes beneath
sea amount of money.” The Teton Selection in Wyoming is “North The United states’s youngest mountain array,
crafted from a variety of the continent’s oldest rocks.” three-hundred-million-calendar year-aged seafloor fossils
have been brought toward the floor by uplift and erosion in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. And The brand new
River Gorge in West Virginia is without doubt one of the handful of north-flowing waterways in North The usa. The

Native American site. A steep route every one of the way down to the canyon flooring demands you in the

Seem proper all the way down to earth and head for The nice Mountaineering TRAILS OF The globe (Rizzoli,
$fifty), that includes seventy five,000 miles of trekking on 6 continents. Brought to us by Karen Berger, having an
guidebook out of your estimable American Climbing Fashionable Modern society, this quantity provides several
lifetimes of bucket lists. People who wish to adhere near home could cease through the Appalachian Path, with its
“fatigued mountains, worn down by time”; what it lacks in grandeur, it would make up for with “a novel number of
landscapes, a few of which happen to be uncovered nowhere else.” For all These seeking a brain-meld with Bilbo
Baggins, or As a minimum a troublesome hike, take into consideration Te Araroa in New Zealand, One of several
more “geothermically Energetic internet sites in the world.”
In a long time earlier, Robert Llewellyn has blown our minds Even though utilizing the indelibly detailed
photographs in “Observing Trees,” “Seeing Bouquets” and “Looking at Seeds.” Inside the Residing FOREST: A
visible Journey In to the guts from the Woods (Timber, $forty), he has teamed up with Joan Maloof, the founder
and director of your Previous-Progress Forest Community, to discover inside the secret and magic of our
woodlands. A lot much too frequently, we think about without thought what their preface calls the “slim and
Beautiful membrane” that is our biosphere.
Llewellyn and Maloof flip our gazes up into your forest Address, in which we explore tasteful herons and snazzy
bluebirds in flight. We peer in to the eyes of eagles, which could see for miles, and shock, combined with the
authors, no matter regardless of whether trees are fragile to starlight. As Llewellyn and Maloof remind us, trees are
“the lungs in the land,” and therefore they’ve been woefully underappreciated; they’re the perfect system Everyone
knows of to suck up the pollution that’s warming your overall Earth.
Llewellyn also reminds us while in the sheer magnificence of our atmosphere as he catches the fetal curl of a leaf
in midfall. Amongst the most alluring of his illustrations or photos could be the golden portraits of larval
salamanders. But there’s not greater than more than enough right here about insects: I hope that can be
considered a upcoming job, one which’s sorely wished-for. We aren’t executing Pretty much a lot more than more
than enough to safeguard our fellow creatures, whether or not rooted or roaming. And we are unsuccessful to
take action at our personalized peril.
THE TREES OF NORTH The us (Abbeville, $49.ninety 5) choices, for The very first time in one quantity, the botanical
engravings of André and François-André Michaux, together with other treasures held in the course of the
renowned assortment With all the Large apple Botanical Yard’s Mertz Library. Its director, Susan Fraser, describes
the arrival, in 1785, of The daddy-son crew in New Jersey, after which you'll be able to in Charleston, wherever
they propagated trees for export to France. Alas, Marie-Antoinette neglected her saplings (amid other challenges)
and declined to present more funding, Therefore the personnel, inside of an enthusiastic minimal little bit of
promoting, ready engravings from drawings by Pierre-Joseph Redouté and a few Many others. “The North
American Sylva” was afterwards revised from the English naturalist Thomas Nuttall. This volume’s handsome plates
operate forthright, detailed drawings; it's possible you'll Pretty much come to feel the sheen in excess of the
acorns on the cork oak or perhaps the shaggy surface place of your Bristlecone fir.
And who, who, who's all-around throughout the forests with us after we linger before dusk? The owls, The natural
way. For quite a few decades, I’ve been endeavoring to recognized eyes about the owls in the trees close to my
dwelling, to no avail. Excellent horned duets wake me far from a audio rest. At times I am capable of’t resist
tipping my head back again yet again and becoming a member of inside the phone calls. However the owls carry
on currently being elusive.
So thanks, David Tipling, for your personal sumptuous, endearing and terrifying photos of this kind of uncanny
creatures with the ENIGMA In the OWL: An Illustrated Purely natural Historic previous (Yale College, $40). And
Mike Unwin’s authoritative descriptions in the owl method of existence are interesting. When not searching
(snakes, frogs and voles keep from their beaks), they preen adorably, peer from nest holes through the trunks of
4. trees or plunge as a result of snow in pursuit of prey. They've got these incredible round faces, with disks
regarding their eyes that operate like satellite dishes to seize and direct an astonishing range of seem for their
ears. And folks eyes! The golden orbs beneath the furrowed brow of The good horned owl are mesmerizing. If I
could, I’d fly absent having a parliament of owls.
From the interim, I continue to be earthbound, but which includes its pleasures far too. Apples, for starters. Each
autumn, I haunt regional orchards, desperate to make your mind up bushels of my very personal. And yearly
delivers added types, so I’m gonna carry on to keep a reproduction of APPLES (Countryman, $18.ninety five), by
Roger Yepsen, in my glove compartment staying a reference. His amazing watercolors are plenty of to result in
any personal’s munchies. In these web pages, we learn the Macoun “just doesn’t sing if picked just just before …
late September or Oct” Which Pink Woman gained’t alter to mush within a pie. Yepsen warns that greater apples
experienced a great deal more immediately, Thus if you select for them on the grocery store their firmness and
texture are more likely to be “on how out.” And he claims not to trouble with the “corky” brown texture about the
pores and pores and skin of certain kinds due to the fact “russets are generally spicier and even have way more
character than the prevalent apple.”
You certainly not know what is going to give anyone a hankering to again back garden. Only one young man of
my acquaintance, who doesn’t much like to receive Filth beneath his fingernails, has become enamored of
succulents. And it seems that evidently they’re the stylish plants of the look earth proper this instant. The primly
tasteful PRICK (Mitchell Beazley, $19.ninety nine), by Gynelle Leon, presents functional assistance on selecting,
styling and caring for cactuses and succulents — Together with the emphasis on styling. Each and every and each
plant With this particular primer is shown nested in a straightforward pot, ordinarily banded getting a totally
thoroughly clean white stripe. Although the pricks of their spines will harass, as that is unquestionably their mom
nature, in some way the rather presentation would make The entire business sense neatly workable as an
alternative to messy, providing a comforting illusion of Manage towards the neophyte. But just maintain out until
finally that prickly pear outgrows its elegant crib.
Speaking of stylish, does the Bay Place now keep the very best focus of creatively refined gardens from the state?
It would appear so, judging with the charming photos of Marion Brenner in Non-public GARDENS Using the BAY
Room (Monacelli, $60). The tough-Working workforce of Susan Lowry and Nancy Berner has Previously posted
publications about New Jersey and Hudson Valley gardens; this quantity is especially fulfilling in its breadth and
assortment. Admire the looser, greater interpretation of Japanese aesthetics from the courtyard back again
backyard overlooking San Francisco or Probably the dreamy light-weight filtering throughout the ancient trees in
the St. Eden Again backyard garden in shut proximity to Oakville, with its Mild grey mounds of olive, lavender and
teucrium — a small amount of Provence. The pool across the Berggruen home goes accurate into my “aspiration
file.” An artful moss selection, improbably exhibited in packing containers and on logs, graces a porch in Glen
Park, even though steel and concrete planters snake up a cliff on Telegraph Hill to achieve a staggering see.
Californians catch the attention of inspiration from inside the environment — but then they do their unique
situation, to dazzling impact.
Just just in the event this turns out to become your Winter year of discontent, fan the flames of the glue gun,
unfurl the crepe paper and turn on on The nice Artwork OF PAPER Bouquets (Watson-Guptill, $twenty five). I kid
you not: Tiffanie Turner’s creations are exquisite. Her D.I.Y. Assistance for handmade marigolds, roses, dianthus
and daffodils are meticulous. How comforting an action this appears to be getting will probably mirror wherever
your cravings tumble round the indica-sativa scale; I Individually wouldn’t Do that in the house. But I am going to
forever admire the angelic creatures amid us who can pull poppies from paper. They’re Basically as miraculous as
These beauties we so with any luck , coax out from the soil, period just following technological know-how, by
means of several a lot more summers of affection.
