What does the word conservation mean to us?
Begin PowerPoint completing task 1, each group will need a paper and pen to record notes.
Feedback as a class and record all findings on the PowerPoint.

Divide class into groups and carry out task 2
Key Questions
Plenary
Each pair will present their solution to the rest of the class.
Let the class vote on what they think is the solution that might work
Differentiation
Groups should be of mixed ability
Extension
The class could write to their local salmon fishery (Bushmills) informing them of their ideas for
salmon conservation.
Other Notes
Depending on the learning intentions of the
teacher the children could work together to
create a poster, leaflet or speech instead of a
PowerPoint presentation.
