Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) applies when one or both genetic parents carry a gene mutation or a chromosomal rearrangement and testing is performed to determine whether that specific mutation or an unbalanced chromosomal complement has been transmitted to the oocyte or embryo.

Analysis of genetic material (DNA) from a single cell is

 FISH ( fluorescent in situ hybridisation)

Polymorphism) provide even more accuracy .

In India, Ministry of Family Health and Welfare, regulates the
concept under - "The Pre-Conception and Prenatal Diagnostic
Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act, 1994".

the Indian Government dedicated for the cause.
