Essay On My Vacation
Everyone has gone on some form of vacation in their lives. I have gone on many vacations that have
been very hectic, but the cruise that I went on might have been the craziest. It all started with how
we were getting to the port in South Carolina. We couldn't fit me, my younger brother, my younger
step–brother, my older step–brother, my older step–sister, my aunt, and my stepmom all into my
stepmom's tiny BMW, so we had to rent a big van. When we got to the car rental place, it turns out
that the company had accidentally gave the van we rented to someone else. After my stepmom did
a little bit of yelling, we got an even bigger van for less than the other one. Next comes the 13 hour
car ride. My 7–year–old step–brother, Max, wouldn't sit still the whole ride and kept screaming at
his I–Pad every time he lost his game. My 10–year–old brother, Ryan, was sitting right next to Max
screaming with him like he was still 7. My step–sister Emma and I were very annoyed and tired, so
we both took about 3 melatonin gummies and tried to fall asleep. That's when the car ride went bad.
My brothers were being loud the...show more content...
The beach was absolutely gorgeous. The sand was as white as snow and there were no shells,
trash, or anything on the beach other than chairs and umbrellas. The water was crystal clear and
even when you were in the ocean up to your neck you could still see the whole way down to your
toes. You could see fish swimming around your ankles and there were dolphins out in the distance. It
truly was a perfect beach. My family and I all swam with manta rays and then Emma and i found
our friends and played Bocce and volleyball on the beach. The only scary part of that day was
when we were getting off the ship. One of the crew thought it would be a good idea to jump off the
ninth floor of the ship. He was a little banged up, but he was still walking around smiling and

The Village, by M. Night Shyamalen Essay
Matthew Lesko once said, "A degree of lying seems to be inherent in all languages and all forms of
communication." Quite often lies are integrated into society in order to manipulate the minds of the
receiver(s) and ultimately shape the community in a particular way. The Village a 2004 by M. Night
Shyamalen is indicative of this fact. A culture (even one based on fear) can flourish through use of
ritual communication. First off to fully grasp the significance of ritual communication behind the
movie, The Village one must first understand what exactly it is. Ritual communication is defined as,
"A symbolic process whereby reality is produced, maintained, repaired, and transformed." (Carey,
1989) The method is dependent on mass forms of...show more content...
Since the dawning of Covington Woods' creation, stories were told of terrifying creatures that lived
in the forests. Beasts that were attracted to the color red and repelled by yellow and so traditions
began of avoiding red even to the point of burying crimson flowers that blossomed. Stakes with
yellow flags marked the perimeter of the village and those who kept watch wore cloaks of yellow.
Overall the affect was very convincing and the villagers' fear of these beasts kept them content
with their way of life, overall maintaining it. But as is the way of life there was bound to be a
hitch that if not repair could ultimately lead to the town's demise. Lucius Hunt was a man that had
no fear of these beasts that kept the society running. His lack of fear even led him to ask
permission to leave the village to retrieve medicines that would improve the life of the townsfolk.
Unsurprisingly the Elders were stirred; Lucius' open mind and lack of fear for his own safety
could prove dangerous to the conservation of their world. With the best of intentions they struck
even more terror into the villagers' hearts. Finally Lucius breaks but not because he fears for his
own safety but for the welfare of his beloved Ivy Walker. Unbeknownst to him, his bravery has
given courage to Ivy and when Lucius falls close to death it is Ivy who seeks help to save him. It is
at this point in the movie where the audience sees the power that ritual communication has to shape
people. The Elders

My Journey Essay
Connecting people with their heritage is very important, it gives people a sense of their true
identity, exploring and learning about their culture and giving them some pride of where they
come from. My parents started to plan this trip many months prior. Before going, my family and I
had to get these antibiotic shots to protect us from any diseases at Nigeria. I remember getting
multiple shots to my shoulder areas; couldn't feel my shoulders for days. My cousins and parents
also arranged to take the same flight as they were planning to go to Nigeria as well. My dad wrote a
letter to me and my sister's teacher explaining the reason for our absences from school as ware were
going to miss almost 2 weeks of class. The day finally arrived On...show more content...
Another downside was that in Nigeria for some reason the power goes out very frequently, so
frequently that many buildings and houses had their own generators. in We stayed at a hotel for
the night then the next morning visited my dad's home village first. My Grandfather from my
father's side was the head of the village so we got to stay in a big house but the house barely had
any furniture and was very dusty since no one actually lived in there as my grandparents lived
somewhere different. While I was there I met a lot of cousins I didn't even know I had as well as
seeing some of my father's relatives for the first time. We ate a lot of Farina or "fufu" which is
pretty much the main dish of not just Nigeria but other African countries as well. Its white sticky
starch that you take pieces of and dip it into the soup which is made out of various types of
vegetables mixed with different spices cooked in the pot. You can choose to make the soup thick
of more watery. We stayed in my dad's home village for a couple of days then went to my
grandparent's house on my mom's side. My mom's home community was more similar to a suburban
type area than a traditional village as there were better–structured homes. While I was at my
grandparent's house from my mom's side, my mom's siblings came over to visit as well. It was
pretty cool that my grandparents had 2 sets of twins:

Autumn is a bright and colorful season. The leaves of the trees along the river are as red as fire

They ripple in the autumn wind just like a golden sea. The fish in the water jumped out of the

enjoying a great seafood feast. In winter, the pine trees on the hills stand like soldiers. They are
evergreen. The children lead an active life though the weather is very cold; they skate and dance in

Essay on Global Village
Global Village
New technological advances are something that we have faced for centuries. Whether the advance
was the printing press, the radio, the telephone, or the TV, all of these things affected us globally. In
the past all of these new advances tend to change social and political policies. We are currently in a
new era of technology, one that we have many names for: the internet, the web, cyberspace,
information superhighway, and many more. All of these computer technologies affect the way many
of us live, especially the use of the internet. There are some articles with strong arguments on why
this new technology could cause more harm than good to some of us. One article was by a feminist
scholar, Dale Spender, who wrote Social...show more content...
This is clearly not bringing people closer together. In the real world, different groups are
inevitably going to hate or dislike other various groups. For example, when teenagers are in high
school, the jocks generally dont like the nerds, and the nerds generally dont like the jocks. Real
life groups on the web are most likely going to follow this pattern as well. This is just an
inescapable issue of having people create divisions amongst themselves. The social consequences of
having the internet accessible to everyone include hostile divisions between classes. Spender says,
Even in First World countries, there is much talk these days about a growing underclass, a social
group which is cut off from the benefits of society. The homeless, the hungry, the unemployed,
uninsured, unregisteredand uninformed. She goes on and compares this to the industrial
revolution, and how this is creating an underclass again. Not necessarily even going that far, but
it will add to the separation of classes. Spender also goes on to say, The real people in the real
world are being divided up into the information rich and poor: the master minds and those who are
kept in the dark. In some ways she is saying that this is unjust because a lot of people are not
included in this new era of technology. Why shouldnt they be able to access it? In order to get
everybody online and have a virtual community that is accessible to anyone, then the prices of
computers would have to go down

My Neighborhood Essay
Where I live is one of the greatest neighborhoods in the city to live in; however it does have its draw
backs. Importantly it has nearly everything a resident might want, beautiful picturesque scenery,
proximity to shopping, and many of the cultural centers. Nevertheless the roads can be some of the
most congested in town, and the streets are not safe to walk late at night. Fortunately, I wake every
morning to the most beautiful sun lit house. I sit on my porch sipping coffee, while I drink in an
atmosphere that steals my breath away. Rolling hills lay before me that undulate until they crash into
golden purple mountains. Oh how they are covered in spectacular fauna, ever blooming foliage, and
trees that are heavy with pungent fruit....show more content...
The Mexican tile roofs jump out at your eyes, until the gorgeous iron gates of other estates snatch
your attention. I can at times be overwhelmed with the feast before my eyes. My favorite structure
by far is the towering ruins of the old sugar plantation. The words ruins, sugar, and plantation alone
are enough to conjure up the most fascinating stories within ones imagination. I can see the bones
of an age past; still standing before me to mourn, and dream about. I live in a grouping of villas
where a restaurant and pool facilities are being constructed. I smell fresh sawn mahogany as the
carpenters make bars, counters, and doors. I hear stone masons chipping at tiles, and the scraping
sounds as they pull out the mortar to lay them. Sometimes in the morning I pull on running
sneakers and jog down to Kmart to grab some household items. Then I might bop over to AT&T to
pay my cell phone escaping the crowds and long lines that form later in the day. The bank tellers
are also so much nicer in the morning before rude customers have agitated and frustrated them. On
Sundays my family and I take in concerts and shows for free. We sit on the lawn that adorns the hill
behind our house which overlooks the Center for Performing Arts. Whether it's paying bills,
shopping for pleasure, or enjoying a cultural affair the convenience of it all is another reason I love
my neighborhood. Never the less our royal neighborhood does have some less desirable elements.

Essay on The Village
Isolation Social isolation refers to a lack of contact with members of one's kind. In humans, it may be
caused by a persistent withdrawal or avoidance of social contact or communication. It can contribute
toward many emotional, behavioral and physical disorders including anxiety, eating disorders, panic
attacks, addictions, substance abuse, and violence. In the film, The Village, written by M. Night
Shyamalen, the villagers demonstrate the ritual view of communication throughout the entire movie.
The Ritual View of Communication is composed up of a sense of belonging; a sense of
understanding in the community, a version of reality, and language for what we want to be true and
believe is real. The village was created, maintained,...show more content...
To do this plan they made huge scary costumes and would occasionally dress up in them and scare
people. The town was all brainwashed that the forest was not safe and that no one without
permission from the elders should go in there. Feared for their lives no one really went into the
forest thinking that they could be attacked by these made up mystical creatures. To transform is
to change in form, appearance, or structure. Transform is used in the village in many ways. They
transformed the village into a village made up of all these rituals and lies. The elders
brainwashed the entire community to thinking that yellow was a safe color and red was an
unsafe and bad color. For instance, the guard who was watching out for the monsters would wear
a yellow cloak making him safer from being attacked. Another example of transform is when the
elders change from their self into a horrifying creature. Repaired: to fix or mend. This village
needs a lot of emotional help. Everyone has been lied to and told things that are completely
barbaric. The villagers wouldn't know how to survive in the real world. The real world is nothing
like the village that they are used to growing up in. Sometimes people need to face reality instead of
just hiding away. Life is hard but people get through the tough times and move on with their lives.
Produce: to create by physical or mental effort, to manufacture. As you know by now the elders

In between the busy streets of 35th avenue and 43rd lies my silent and kind neighborhood. Where
everyone is nice to each other and not lousy or mean. About two months ago, my mother bought
our first home. My house looks like a duplex because there are two entrances, one on the left and
right and it also has two drive ways. Turning into my neighborhood you right away see that it is a
dead end street, and has very few houses one each side of the road. There is not really anything that
grabs one's attention where I live, except a 2017 mustang that is parked next door, or how many stray
cats there live here.. Other than that a true attention catcher is our neighbors well kept yard. They
have bushes along the driveway shaped into a beautiful square. And colorful flowers in their neat
front yard. Their grass is also much greener than anyone else's. You can tell they care about their
yard a lot because they have a landscaper come every week. There are also two schools that are
across the street, a charter high school that is to the left of an elementary school. What I do like
about my neighborhood is that the streets are very wide, wider than usual which gives everyone an
advantage. It was so convenient that we lived right across the street from an elementary school. I
thought to myself "I have younger siblings that could go there!" But they really couldn't – the school
is only from 1st–5th grade and my sisters were just in 6th and 7th grade. In the mornings are usually

living is very high in the city, the city is always noisy, no fresh air and pure water. So it is hard to

many facilities the insufficient medical and education facilities, few opportunities to make money,
little entertainment, no or little public transportation, also less facilities than a big city offers.
Over all there are some similarities between both locations with big differences. But for each lives

My Neighborhood
When I tell other students from New York City that I live in Bensonhurst, they often tell me they
have never heard of it. Often, I have never heard of the neighborhood they live in, even though we
all live in the same city. I think we all live in and interact in our respective bubbles, and besides the
periods we spend at work or school, we tend to keep ourselves exclusive to people outside of them.
There is nothing wrong with being selective with who you interact with, but those self–isolating
behaviors encourage ignorance, especially during periods of rapid change in the neighborhood.
My neighborhood is actually very aesthetically pleasing. The name of my neighborhood, Bensonhurst
, is actually shortened from "Bensonhurst–by–the–Sea," which is what a developer named the resort
neighborhood in order to sell more beachfront property. The aforementioned sea is the Atlantic
Ocean, though the sandy "bay" almost every avenue in the neighborhood has in its street name (e.g.
Bay Parkway) has been paved over to make roads and sidewalks (Frishberg). Still, there are remnants
of its coastal–retreat past; there are benches, trees, walkways, and parks right near the ocean. There
are also playgrounds by every elementary school, and a city park or green space if there are no
elementary schools right nearby. Backyards, privately–owned plots of nature, also play an important
role in my community. Most families in my neighborhood have backyards, front yards, or both, and

Get a Taste of the Irish Countryside in Doolin Village
LEAD PARAGRAPH
While metropolitan cities like Dublin are fun and exciting, nothing quite beats the tranquility and
beauty of the Irish countryside. Rolling emerald hills, mossy trees, and adorable grazing sheep all
over the place! Not to mention the countryside is your best bet for finding the best traditional Irish
food and truly local goods. Doolin Village is small but has everything to offer from good food,

The entire village is a single street
This is a tiny village in County Clare, Ireland. And when I say tiny, I mean literally one block long.
You'd think you'd be underwhelmed, but the buildings have such a unique and classic flare, and
they have a way of making you feel like you're in a fairytale. The folks of this little village are
very welcoming, and the best part is you don't have to worry about large crowds! This village
may be small, but trust me, you'll want to take pictures of every building and sign. This place has
a way of making you feel right at home, even as a total tourist! On top of that, they're so used to
tour buses stopping in, all of the shops are absolute pros at helping tourists and keeping up with
whatever crowds come their way!

living in cities are different from people living in the city. There are five major differences between
city and village (people) lifestyle. I'm going to write social activities or opportunities, people's
behaviour, most common events, safety and getting good education.

So street selling is the most common event. Kalafat (2006) states that " the assortment of the goods
that are sold in the streets has reached unbelievable dimensions. From the street vendors carts all
sorts of things from car fires to computers and even pianos are sold " (p:102) However, in city there
are a lot of big shop or store so people don't prefer street selling.
Finally, one of the most important advantages of village life is that it is much safer than the city.
There are fewer cars than in the city. Therefore, there is no noise of traffic and no accident. What's
more in village, there is no industrial and factorial pollution. That is to say air is clean and fresh
so people can grow fruit which is much healthier. Again the same web source gives evidence "the
village has clean air and the environment is very beautiful. The village has less noise and rush. So the
pollution is less. The village has not lot of vehicles. So roads are less dangerous for driving cycling.
They can get fresh vegetable and fresh fruits. "
To sum up, city has many advantages over village, because city offers modern life facilities are
easily available. I think, although the life in the city is more comfortable and modern than village, I
like village life than city. Because, i feel relaxed and safe so if I have to choose between village or

Growing up in the city of Lagos Nigeria where everything is immensely distinct in comparison
with parts of the country with a fast pace flow of things, with people from every ethnic group and
religion you could never feel isolated in Lagos it almost reminds me of New York City vibe filled
with clustered building and congested with an abundance of people. One evening we received

much about my dad is from the village known as IVIUKHUA which is located in Edo state

towns and villagers tend to spend their everyday lives tending to their crops in farms. I learned so
much in such a short time at the farm
It was a lovely Sunday morning on August 7, 2005 it was a much–anticipated trip filled with
excitement and joy it was about six of us (my mother, father, siblings, our driver and I ) all
dressed in protective gear drenched in bug spray to prevent mosquito bites, at the time malaria was
very common. We were riding in a white Isuzu 4wd drive 2000 model pickup truck which I

As read in the ,the villagers did not have much, and technology was very new to them. Fore example
they judged time by certain events that happened. The birth of someone important or earthquake
would be enough to grasp time. The children would play in the streets and run errands for the

changed their lives forever. The telephone brought so many opportunities for the villagers. As read

opportunities to make money". The people of

My Neighborhood-Personal Narrative Essay
My Neighborhood–Personal Narrative I would wake up Saturday morning to birds chirping. I
would get up, get dressed and go outside. The children in my neighborhood would come to my
backyard, and we would play 'til our parents called us in. I remember the trees being huge, and the
days so long. I didn't really know many of my neighbors. I had a handful of friends who lived in
the same building, and that was it. The neighborhood itself was pretty bad. Sometimes I would wake
in the middle of the night to the sound of gunshots. After living around Central Park and Armitage
for a while I kind of expected the gunshots. In fact, my mother and I survived a drive by shooting. I
am glad my mother restricted my interaction with the outside...show more content...
Most kids just imitate the stupid antics they saw older kids perform. I have always been just me.
I used to think I had a horrible life. I was poor, and didn't have many physical belongings. It didn't
help that my mother was nineteen. At that age she was ignorant of the things children need when
growing up. Now that I look back, I understand it wasn't her fault; she is a product of her
neighborhood. And, like so many others, she did not know about the affection children so
deserve. Anyways, I wasn't too aware of my poverty. Nothing around me could possibly tell me I
was poor. In fact I can only recall one time I went hungry. The boys and girls around me definitely
did not dress any different than I, and at such an early age one doesn't really notice such things. I
only saw the inside of two of my neighbors' houses. The fist was a polish home. The father worked
all the time, the mother cooked all the time, and the daughter played all the time. The girl was
named Kathy. She was a pervert. In fact, she taught me all about sex. My female cousin, Yaritza,
and I would go to her house and play. I think my cousin was also a pervert, although I did not pay
much attention to her to notice. I remember on several occasions, Kathy would sit in such a way to
give other people a nice view up her skirt. Her mother would not allow her to wear pants. I, being
the devilish little boy that I was, always took advantage of the opportunity and looked. It

My Perfect City Essay
My "Perfect" City
I. Utilities
The city I propose as a perfect city, would be as close to an ecocity as possible, although have
some differences. For example, for electrical needs, I would suggest the city have a solar power
plant, but on those desperate times, energy would be bought from other electrical plants from nearby
towns or states.
Water purification and a wastewater treatment plants would be necessary in order to provide the
citizens and visitors with clean healthy water. To prevent flooding, thiscity was built on flood plains.
Solid waste pickup services will exist, preventing litter and garbage...show more content...
Paddleboats would be popular in the lakes and river. Walking and biking would be the most
influenced form of transportation. Neighborhood stores would be encouraged, promoting bike and
walk transportation. No mass transportation systems will be found running through the city.
III. Density of Homes
Understandably, some people enjoy large lawns. For every 1 home that is built on an acre property,
2 homes have to be built on ВЅ acre property. The homes will be built more northern and away from
the river. Towards the southern part of the river will only be green space and nature preserves. The
city will have a medium density
IV. Businesses/Industry/Commercial
Tourism will be the major money catcher on the lake and riverside areas. Tourists will be attracted
to the city's beauty and fun activities (see aesthetics). Although tourism brings in a lot of money,
small animal and vegetable farms will be maintained, providing the city with some of its food
portion. Gardens will also be kept at most of the homes. Not much food will be transported into the
city. The city will try to be the most independent possible. Building will use the solar heat method
for water and space heating on those rare occasions when necessary.
V. Aesthetics

Essay My Village

  • 1. Essay On My Vacation Everyone has gone on some form of vacation in their lives. I have gone on many vacations that have been very hectic, but the cruise that I went on might have been the craziest. It all started with how we were getting to the port in South Carolina. We couldn't fit me, my younger brother, my younger step–brother, my older step–brother, my older step–sister, my aunt, and my stepmom all into my stepmom's tiny BMW, so we had to rent a big van. When we got to the car rental place, it turns out that the company had accidentally gave the van we rented to someone else. After my stepmom did a little bit of yelling, we got an even bigger van for less than the other one. Next comes the 13 hour car ride. My 7–year–old step–brother, Max, wouldn't sit still the whole ride and kept screaming at his I–Pad every time he lost his game. My 10–year–old brother, Ryan, was sitting right next to Max screaming with him like he was still 7. My step–sister Emma and I were very annoyed and tired, so we both took about 3 melatonin gummies and tried to fall asleep. That's when the car ride went bad. My brothers were being loud the...show more content... The beach was absolutely gorgeous. The sand was as white as snow and there were no shells, trash, or anything on the beach other than chairs and umbrellas. The water was crystal clear and even when you were in the ocean up to your neck you could still see the whole way down to your toes. You could see fish swimming around your ankles and there were dolphins out in the distance. It truly was a perfect beach. My family and I all swam with manta rays and then Emma and i found our friends and played Bocce and volleyball on the beach. The only scary part of that day was when we were getting off the ship. One of the crew thought it would be a good idea to jump off the ninth floor of the ship. He was a little banged up, but he was still walking around smiling and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. The Village, by M. Night Shyamalen Essay Matthew Lesko once said, "A degree of lying seems to be inherent in all languages and all forms of communication." Quite often lies are integrated into society in order to manipulate the minds of the receiver(s) and ultimately shape the community in a particular way. The Village a 2004 by M. Night Shyamalen is indicative of this fact. A culture (even one based on fear) can flourish through use of ritual communication. First off to fully grasp the significance of ritual communication behind the movie, The Village one must first understand what exactly it is. Ritual communication is defined as, "A symbolic process whereby reality is produced, maintained, repaired, and transformed." (Carey, 1989) The method is dependent on mass forms of...show more content... Since the dawning of Covington Woods' creation, stories were told of terrifying creatures that lived in the forests. Beasts that were attracted to the color red and repelled by yellow and so traditions began of avoiding red even to the point of burying crimson flowers that blossomed. Stakes with yellow flags marked the perimeter of the village and those who kept watch wore cloaks of yellow. Overall the affect was very convincing and the villagers' fear of these beasts kept them content with their way of life, overall maintaining it. But as is the way of life there was bound to be a hitch that if not repair could ultimately lead to the town's demise. Lucius Hunt was a man that had no fear of these beasts that kept the society running. His lack of fear even led him to ask permission to leave the village to retrieve medicines that would improve the life of the townsfolk. Unsurprisingly the Elders were stirred; Lucius' open mind and lack of fear for his own safety could prove dangerous to the conservation of their world. With the best of intentions they struck even more terror into the villagers' hearts. Finally Lucius breaks but not because he fears for his own safety but for the welfare of his beloved Ivy Walker. Unbeknownst to him, his bravery has given courage to Ivy and when Lucius falls close to death it is Ivy who seeks help to save him. It is at this point in the movie where the audience sees the power that ritual communication has to shape people. The Elders Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. My Journey Essay Connecting people with their heritage is very important, it gives people a sense of their true identity, exploring and learning about their culture and giving them some pride of where they come from. My parents started to plan this trip many months prior. Before going, my family and I had to get these antibiotic shots to protect us from any diseases at Nigeria. I remember getting multiple shots to my shoulder areas; couldn't feel my shoulders for days. My cousins and parents also arranged to take the same flight as they were planning to go to Nigeria as well. My dad wrote a letter to me and my sister's teacher explaining the reason for our absences from school as ware were going to miss almost 2 weeks of class. The day finally arrived On...show more content... Another downside was that in Nigeria for some reason the power goes out very frequently, so frequently that many buildings and houses had their own generators. in We stayed at a hotel for the night then the next morning visited my dad's home village first. My Grandfather from my father's side was the head of the village so we got to stay in a big house but the house barely had any furniture and was very dusty since no one actually lived in there as my grandparents lived somewhere different. While I was there I met a lot of cousins I didn't even know I had as well as seeing some of my father's relatives for the first time. We ate a lot of Farina or "fufu" which is pretty much the main dish of not just Nigeria but other African countries as well. Its white sticky starch that you take pieces of and dip it into the soup which is made out of various types of vegetables mixed with different spices cooked in the pot. You can choose to make the soup thick of more watery. We stayed in my dad's home village for a couple of days then went to my grandparent's house on my mom's side. My mom's home community was more similar to a suburban type area than a traditional village as there were better–structured homes. While I was at my grandparent's house from my mom's side, my mom's siblings came over to visit as well. It was pretty cool that my grandparents had 2 sets of twins: Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 5. Descriptive Essay About My Village Wherever I am, I find it hard to resist the tempting call of my hometown. My hometown is a small village located in Shandong province. There are about two thousand people in the village. Small as it is, it's a very beautiful place and has its own folk culture. The weather is warm in winter and cool in summer. It's a good place for tourism. The most attractions in the village are the river around my hometown and the green hills opposite the river. On the hills there are large tea plantations and fruit trees. The river, in which there are all kinds of big and smooth cobbles, flows gurgling in four seasons, with groups of fish and shrimps playing in the water. When spring was coming, the fields look like a green carpet, and the willows by the river are putting forth a lot of tender branches. With breeze blowing, the long thin branches gently brush the cool and refreshing water; there are groups of ducks having fun in the river. Spring is also a season of sowing. When the parents are working in the field, the child are playing all kinds of games near the river, such as swing, eagle catches chicken, seesaw and so on. Summer follows spring. The children sit on the large stones in the river, where they pat the water and make splashes. The sound of water, and the noise of the children's chatting and laughing are mixed together. The birds in the woods are unwilling to be lonely, singing and dancing with joy. The old people sat under the big trees talking about their life experiences. The government has set up a drift on the slope of the mountain, so you can experience a great drifting experience on the hot summer day. Autumn is a bright and colorful season. The leaves of the trees along the river are as red as fire like pieces of rosy clouds. The paddy fields glitter in the sunshine, with dropping ears of rice. They ripple in the autumn wind just like a golden sea. The fish in the water jumped out of the water. A large group of people are fishing with a harpoon along the river. They set up a grill, enjoying a great seafood feast. In winter, the pine trees on the hills stand like soldiers. They are evergreen. • 6. Essay on Global Village Global Village New technological advances are something that we have faced for centuries. Whether the advance was the printing press, the radio, the telephone, or the TV, all of these things affected us globally. In the past all of these new advances tend to change social and political policies. We are currently in a new era of technology, one that we have many names for: the internet, the web, cyberspace, information superhighway, and many more. All of these computer technologies affect the way many of us live, especially the use of the internet. There are some articles with strong arguments on why this new technology could cause more harm than good to some of us. One article was by a feminist scholar, Dale Spender, who wrote Social...show more content... This is clearly not bringing people closer together. In the real world, different groups are inevitably going to hate or dislike other various groups. For example, when teenagers are in high school, the jocks generally dont like the nerds, and the nerds generally dont like the jocks. Real life groups on the web are most likely going to follow this pattern as well. This is just an inescapable issue of having people create divisions amongst themselves. The social consequences of having the internet accessible to everyone include hostile divisions between classes. Spender says, Even in First World countries, there is much talk these days about a growing underclass, a social group which is cut off from the benefits of society. The homeless, the hungry, the unemployed, uninsured, unregisteredand uninformed. She goes on and compares this to the industrial revolution, and how this is creating an underclass again. Not necessarily even going that far, but it will add to the separation of classes. Spender also goes on to say, The real people in the real world are being divided up into the information rich and poor: the master minds and those who are kept in the dark. In some ways she is saying that this is unjust because a lot of people are not included in this new era of technology. Why shouldnt they be able to access it? In order to get everybody online and have a virtual community that is accessible to anyone, then the prices of computers would have to go down Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Importantly it has nearly everything a resident might want, beautiful picturesque scenery, proximity to shopping, and many of the cultural centers. Nevertheless the roads can be some of the most congested in town, and the streets are not safe to walk late at night. Fortunately, I wake every morning to the most beautiful sun lit house. My favorite structure by far is the towering ruins of the old sugar plantation. The words ruins, sugar, and plantation alone are enough to conjure up the most fascinating stories within ones imagination. I can see the bones of an age past; still standing before me to mourn, and dream about. I live in a grouping of villas where a restaurant and pool facilities are being constructed. I smell fresh sawn mahogany as the carpenters make bars, counters, and doors. I hear stone masons chipping at tiles, and the scraping sounds as they pull out the mortar to lay them. Sometimes in the morning I pull on running sneakers and jog down to Kmart to grab some household items. Then I might bop over to AT&T to pay my cell phone escaping the crowds and long lines that form later in the day. The bank tellers are also so much nicer in the morning before rude customers have agitated and frustrated them. On Sundays my family and I take in concerts and shows for free. We sit on the lawn that adorns the hill behind our house which overlooks the Center for Performing Arts. • 9. Essay on The Village Isolation Social isolation refers to a lack of contact with members of one's kind. In humans, it may be caused by a persistent withdrawal or avoidance of social contact or communication. It can contribute toward many emotional, behavioral and physical disorders including anxiety, eating disorders, panic attacks, addictions, substance abuse, and violence. In the film, The Village, written by M. Night Shyamalen, the villagers demonstrate the ritual view of communication throughout the entire movie. The Ritual View of Communication is composed up of a sense of belonging; a sense of understanding in the community, a version of reality, and language for what we want to be true and believe is real. The town was all brainwashed that the forest was not safe and that no one without permission from the elders should go in there. Feared for their lives no one really went into the forest thinking that they could be attacked by these made up mystical creatures. To transform is to change in form, appearance, or structure. Transform is used in the village in many ways. They transformed the village into a village made up of all these rituals and lies. The elders brainwashed the entire community to thinking that yellow was a safe color and red was an unsafe and bad color. For instance, the guard who was watching out for the monsters would wear a yellow cloak making him safer from being attacked. Another example of transform is when the elders change from their self into a horrifying creature. Repaired: to fix or mend. This village needs a lot of emotional help. Everyone has been lied to and told things that are completely barbaric. The villagers wouldn't know how to survive in the real world. The real world is nothing like the village that they are used to growing up in. Sometimes people need to face reality instead of just hiding away. • 10. Descriptive Essay About My Neighborhood In between the busy streets of 35th avenue and 43rd lies my silent and kind neighborhood. Where everyone is nice to each other and not lousy or mean. About two months ago, my mother bought our first home. My house looks like a duplex because there are two entrances, one on the left and right and it also has two drive ways. Turning into my neighborhood you right away see that it is a dead end street, and has very few houses one each side of the road. There is not really anything that grabs one's attention where I live, except a 2017 mustang that is parked next door, or how many stray cats there live here.. Other than that a true attention catcher is our neighbors well kept yard. They have bushes along the driveway shaped into a beautiful square. And colorful flowers in their neat front yard. Their grass is also much greener than anyone else's. You can tell they care about their yard a lot because they have a landscaper come every week. There are also two schools that are across the street, a charter high school that is to the left of an elementary school. What I do like about my neighborhood is that the streets are very wide, wider than usual which gives everyone an advantage. It was so convenient that we lived right across the street from an elementary school. I thought to myself "I have younger siblings that could go there!" But they really couldn't – the school is only from 1st–5th grade and my sisters were just in 6th and 7th grade. In the mornings are usually when I Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 12. My Neighborhood When I tell other students from New York City that I live in Bensonhurst, they often tell me they have never heard of it. Often, I have never heard of the neighborhood they live in, even though we all live in the same city. I think we all live in and interact in our respective bubbles, and besides the periods we spend at work or school, we tend to keep ourselves exclusive to people outside of them. There is nothing wrong with being selective with who you interact with, but those self–isolating behaviors encourage ignorance, especially during periods of rapid change in the neighborhood. My neighborhood is actually very aesthetically pleasing. The name of my neighborhood, Bensonhurst , is actually shortened from "Bensonhurst–by–the–Sea," which is what a developer named the resort neighborhood in order to sell more beachfront property. The aforementioned sea is the Atlantic Ocean, though the sandy "bay" almost every avenue in the neighborhood has in its street name (e.g. Bay Parkway) has been paved over to make roads and sidewalks (Frishberg). Still, there are remnants of its coastal–retreat past; there are benches, trees, walkways, and parks right near the ocean. There are also playgrounds by every elementary school, and a city park or green space if there are no elementary schools right nearby. Backyards, privately–owned plots of nature, also play an important role in my community. Most families in my neighborhood have backyards, front yards, or both, and place value in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
