6. SUMMER PROGRAMS:
University of Manoa is offering two programs which help
high school students get a head start in college:
1. Summer Scholars: Take a summer class while still in
high school. Open to current sophomores and juniors.
Must have a 3.5 GPA and submit PSAT/SAT or ACT
scores. Summer Scholarships available for needy
students.
7. SUMMER PROGRAMS:
University of Manoa is offering two programs which help
high school students get a head start in college:
1. Early Start Program: Seniors who have been accepted
to the University of Hawaii for fall 2016, may start in
summer by taking one or two classes. Great way to get
a head start in earning college credit before entering
UH.(See Mr. Fong for details.)
8. COLLEGE FAIR:
The National College Fair will be held on April 12th at the
Hawaii Convention Center. There will be two shifts, morning
and evening.
Attending a college fair is the best way to gather information,
firsthand, about colleges and universities. It’s free and open to
the public. The fair will give students an opportunity to meet
face to face with college representatives from all over the
world. Flyers will be passed out to students in grades 9-11. It
will also be posted on Edline. See your grade level counselor
for details. Pre-registration is recommended.
9. SUMMER INTERNSHIP:
Hawai`i Pacific Health is offering their annual summer
internship for college students at Kapiolani Medical
Center for Women and Children, Pali Momi Medical
Center, Straub Clinic & Hospital, Wilcox Memorial
Hospital, and Kauai Medical Clinic. Students will be
able to interact with and learn from health care
professionals. Graduating high school seniors are
invited to apply. See Mr. Fong for flyers.
10. BOWLING:
There will be a meeting Friday, April 8th, in the
Conference Room from 3:15-3:45pm, for grades
7-12, interested in participating.
11. JR. HIGH MAY DAY:
Practice on Friday, April 8th, during lunch in Room
A314. Please be prompt!
12. ANNUAL BLOOD DRIVE:
Our annual blood drive will be held on Friday, April
15th, from 7am to 2:30pm, where there will be a
Blood Mobile setup here on campus.
You may donate blood if you are 18 years of age as
of April 15th, or 17 years of age with a parent’s
signature. Please see Mrs. Sutter in Rm. A320 to
sign up.
