Summary of role:
To ensure the Krysalis Project provides high quality, drop-in support services within a safe and
supportive physical environment and within the designated operational policies.
Main Duties
To facilitate the provision of a welcoming environment this is equally accessible to the diverse
range of mental health service users.
To treat all service users fairly and without personal bias, and to challenge negative
stereotypes and discrimination.
To foster an attitude of peer support, recovery and self-management.
To oversee the planning and co-ordination of activities and events for Krysalis members.
To encourage, co-ordinate and manage service user involvement in all aspects of planning and
running of the project.
To deal compassionately and assertively with difficult people and situations.
To assess and manage risk with regards to both service users and the physical environment.
To ensure support staff, volunteers and service users adhere to operational policy.
To accept the responsibilities as a key holder of the project.
To take overall day-to day responsibility for the project and any decisions which need to be

To facilitate and enable staff to efficiently carry out their duties on a day-to-day basis.

2. To deliver regular supervision to support workers to identify relevant training needs to ensure
consistent good practice.
To carry out annual appraisal with all staff.
To provide appropriate practical and emotional support to volunteers within the project.
To forge links with local statutory and voluntary mental health organisation and to co-ordinate/
contribute to local forums for the benefit of the project and of local service users.
To represent the needs and views of service users at a local level.
To positively promote the Krysalis project among service users and professionals.
To exercise financial control within the budgets provided.
To apply to relevant agencies for funding for specific projects.
To monitor and report statistical/ written information as required by commissioners and other
funding agencies.
To design and disseminate a range of publicity and promotional materials.
To participate in regular supervision with the appointed line manager.
To attend identified training as agreed with the appointed line manager.
To occasionally travel locally and nationally as required by the project.
To meet with the management committee of Krysalis on a regular basis to discuss project
planning and to input into development of operational policy.
