2. in pursuit of the
“bedder bed”
we focused on the bed itself as a solution to getting a better
night’s sleep
our 100+ ideas were categorized into cleaning, other occupant
control, pressure points, physical needs, alter state of mind,
orientation, sleep pattern awareness, productivity, healing
capabilities, motion control, time control, environmental
controls, home automation and holographic
3. our pain points
we aimed to solve our most significant pain points:
can I have my bed with me at any time (i.e., in a hotel)
minimize impact of the person beside you (i.e., snoring,
restless)
you awake before your alarm and try to go back to sleep to
only be more tired when the alarm goes off
you remember parts of a dream or ideas but have no way
to capture them
the bed is too hot or too cold
outside noises are disturbing
turn off my bedroom lights when I fall asleep
5. the iBed
I can have my bed with me at any time (i.e., in a hotel)
the bed can be portable or have portable settings
that I can upload at a new location
minimize impact of the person beside you (i.e.,
snoring, restless)
based on acoustics, the bed can nudge an
occupant with pressure points to encourage
movement to stop snoring
you awake before your alarm and try to go back to
sleep to only be more tired when the alarm goes off
based on your sleep patterns and motion, the bed
can let you know the optimal time to wake up

you remember parts of a dream or ideas but have no
way to capture them
the bed provides an easy way to record your
ideas
the bed is too hot or too cold
the bed can be heated or uses a fan system to
cool the mattress
outside noises are disturbing
the bed provides ambient noise to help you sleep
turn off my bedroom lights when I fall asleep
based on your motion, the bed can detect you are
asleep and shut off your bedroom lights
and provide lighting in the morning to wake you

the capabilities in the bed also mean you can:
learn while sleeping
optimize other pressure points in your body
