• What have we learned through 10 years of pull-print deployment
• Uncovering change in behavior
– Yes, all the pages that was printed and not picked up disappear
– Yes, you can print confidential info hence remove personal printers
– Yes, you can replace many queues by few…
• But…
• More things has happened to printing behavior that nobody talked
about.
– People delete more printing jobs at the printer, increase the
number of deleted pages – less print out..
– People tend to accumulate jobs before picking them up, so that
user time spend working to a consolidated device is offset by the
frequency of job pickup…

Biggest reduction in power save/Off mode (-30% to -40%) where it has a high impact.
Less in standby. Power increase in printing mode of approx. 18%
Aging fleet reduces speed in power consumption decline. Increase in
power consumption in printing due to increase in speed of devices –
need to melt toner faster requiring more poser

Given vendors sometimes conservative numbers on RMPV….
Numbers indicate heavy under utilization = over investment

Copyright © 2014 EuroForm A/S, All rights reserved – JetAdvice Summit 2014 • What have we learned through 10 years of pull-print deployment • Uncovering change in behavior – Yes, all the pages that was printed and not picked up disappear – Yes, you can print confidential info hence remove personal printers – Yes, you can replace many queues by few… • But… • More things has happened to printing behavior that nobody talked about. – People delete more printing jobs at the printer, increase the number of deleted pages – less print out.. – People tend to accumulate jobs before picking them up, so that user time spend working to a consolidated device is offset by the frequency of job pickup… Behavior…. 7
