Critical Thinker Needs
Martin Luther, King Jr once said "The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and
to think critically. Intelligence plus character that is the goal of true education". This quote is one of
the many reasons why I want to attend Carmen High School of Science and Technology. By
attending Carmen High school I will be able to become a critical thinker and keep developing my
writing, and math skills. I will go more into detail in my next paragraphs. During my search for my
high school choices Carmen High school's mission intrigued me because it said that "they want to
graduate all students as critical thinkers, and self directed learners". This can help me succeed in my
career and in college. By becoming a critical thinker it will help me analyze certain situations where
I have to make decisions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I cannot fail because if I fail I could be putting a life of an animal in danger which I do not want. If I
go to Carmen I am sure that they will help me prepare myself for when I have to face obstacles.
Another reason why I want to attend to your high school is because my brother attended there too.
During the time he was there he changed. His teachers never gave up on him and tried to help him.
He had even gotten some scholarships and now has graduated from college. This makes me even
more sure that I want to attend Carmen. Since the school offers various scholarships that can help
me pay for my veterinary career during college. Carmen also offers job internships that will help me

Examples Of Enlightenment Thinkers
Most of the Enlightenment thinkers such as Sir Isaac Newton, turned to science and did not believe
that God was the cause for all of the events happening in the world. This new way of thinking had
more people focus on themselves and others instead of turning to God for help. At this time "the
mind of the nation was on politics...a forum for the expression of ideas" (The Story of the Times
123). The concept that a need for new ideas had emerged had caused people to self–reflect before
coming up with new insight. An Enlightenment thinker named Benjamin Franklin had once tried to
make himself a better person by writing an agenda with different moral behaviors. After he had
conducted this he had written a piece called The Autobiography explaining

Creative Thinker Analysis
The larger part of us is not what we could be. We are less. We have amazing breaking point. In any
case, the lion's share of it is slow; most is undeveloped. Change in reasoning is like change in b–
ball, in equalization aestheticness, or in playing the saxophone. It is doubtful to happen without a
conscious obligation to learn. The length of we take our thinking for in truth, we don't make the vital
strides required for advancement. Headway in instinct obliges a consistent procedure obliging levels
of learning and by and large tenacious work. It is unfeasible to transform into a stunning researcher
essentially in light of the way that one wills it. Changing one's affinities for accepted is a long–range
undertaking, happening over years, not weeks or months. The central qualities of a fundamental
driving force oblige an enlarged time of headway. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In what way would we have the capacity to help ourselves and our understudies to practice better
assuming in conventional life? To begin with, we must grasp that there are stages required for
headway as an essential driving force: Stage One: The Unreflective Thinker (we are oblivious to
imperative issues in our thinking) Stage Two: The Challenged Thinker (we get the opportunity to be
aware of issues in our thinking) Stage Three: The Beginning Thinker (we endeavor to improve yet
without standard practice) Stage Four: The Practicing Thinker (we see the need of typical practice)
Stage Five: The Advanced Thinker (we impel according to our practice) Stage Six: The Master
Thinker (talented & insightful reasoning end up being second nature to us) We become through
these stages if we: 1) Recognize the route that there are totally serious issues in our thinking
(enduring the test to our thinking) and 2) Begin predictable

The Stages Of An Unreflective Thinker
Critical thinking is being able to evaluate an issue or situation to form a judgment. Having the
ability to think clearly and rationally, being able to have an argument and understand the main
concept and question any doubts you have and making your own conclusion. Being a good critical
thinker can help you in a lot of ways professionally and personally. Employers often want to see
someone that can think rationally and that is able to make their business grow and develop they
want someone that will take initiative in crucial situations. In our personal lives, it is important so
we learn how to distinguish the main facts about an argument and learn to analyze the problem and
make a conclusion of what needs to be done to help solve and prevent any future problems.
According to Linda Elder and Richard Paul, there are six stages of a critical thinker the unreflective
thinker, the challenged thinker, the beginning thinker, the advanced thinker, and finally the
accomplished thinker which is where we would all want to be in. (The Critical Thinking Community
, 2010) Stage one the unreflective thinker is simply someone that is unaware of what role thinking is
playing in their lives. I think we are all born as an unreflective thinker and some people don't know
the useful conception of what thinking really is and they don't develop better–thinking skills and end
up dying the same way. Being an unreflective thinker means that you know you have a problem but
don't take the time or don't

Scientific Thinker
A scientific thinker is someone who makes meaningful connections between chemistry and
everyday life, collaborates with other scientists regularly, asks questions to deepen their
understanding, supports their claims with evidence, and has advanced knowledge of scientific
language. In order to be a scientific thinker, one must have a deep appreciation of all scientific
studies and understand each thoroughly.
My first piece of evidence is my H₂ O₂ Rockets Lab. In this lab, I, along with 2 other group
members, was assigned to find the perfect ratio of Hydrogen to Oxygen to create the most powerful
explosion. With the combined collaboration of all the members of my group we were able to find the

One of the main ideas of being a scientific thinker is being able to connect chemistry to everyday
life and nothing has done that better for me than this worksheet. I believe that this worksheet is so
vital in everyday life not only because it could potentially save my life, but it helps me to establish
my own opinions on nuclear energy. The topic of nuclear energy has been very controversial in our
country and I honestly had been slightly opposed to it because I lacked the knowledge that I have
now. I had always thought of nuclear reactors to being these big, harmful things that did more harm
than good, but my opinion shifted after watching the few documentaries in our class and completing
this worksheet. It turns out that nuclear energy is one of the safest forms of energy and the science
behind it proves it. Many of the opposers make false claims and try to scare those who don't know
otherwise. With this worksheet, I know how much radiation is dangerous, and I also know how
much radiation I am exposed to every day just from being outside. This worksheet helped me to
establish my firm opinion that nuclear energy is good, and I believe that this is the best connection I
have made between chemistry and everyday

similarity famous thinkers is that they are all share creative minds and are all creative thinkers.
Creative ideas are the foundation of creative process (Goodman & Fritchie, 2011). Famous thinkers
base their ideas on searching for solutions to problem, need, or the way others think or view specific

Grace Hopper
Grace Hopper, a computer programmer, is known for helping develop and lead the team that created
the first computer language compiler, which was a precursor to the widely used COBOL language.
She also became an admiral in the U.S. Navy.
Grace Hopper also known as Grace Brewster Murray went to college at Vassar and Yale University
to study math and received a master's degree in mathematics. While studying at Yale Grace taught at
Vassar. She was the first women to receive a Ph.D. in mathematics at Yale. Her education brought
her too many opportunities including an associate professor at Vassar. She joined the U.S. Naval
Reserve around World War II and was commissioned as a lieutenant.
Grace Hopper went to Harvard University and was assigned to the Bureau of Ordnance
Computation Project. This is where she learned to program a Mark I computer and later worked with
the Mark II and Mark III computers. The term "computer bug" had come from an experience Grace
had at Harvard after finding a moth that shorted out the Mark II. She was not the author of
"computer bug" but played her part. She also led the team that created the first compilers for
computer languages.

Visual and Verbal Thinkers

Visual and verbal thinkers; a visual thinker is someone who uses pictures to think, and verbal
thinkers think in words. If you were to look up the definition of visual thinking, the first thing that
would pop up as an answer is; refers to a group of generative skills that, when practiced with
rigorous discipline, results in the production of novel and original ideas. By seeking to discover
visual forms that fit his/her underlying human experience, the student of visual thinking comes to

already clear that a visual thinker thinks in pictures, but needing something more descriptive, I
continued to find articles and the quotes within them. What i found is interpreted thought out this
essay. Visual and verbal thinkers use different ways of remembering things; they are different in
their own mind. Visual and verbal thinkers are different in several ways; the way they process
information, the way that they can respond differently to different types of action and the way they

are used to process information are consistent, the skills, goals, prior knowledge, and strategies used
in information processing can vary greatly among individuals. (Sojka and Giese)" What

Enlightenment Thinkers
While all the Enlightenment thinkers may have played a part in the formation of america,
Montesquieu's ideals and beliefs seemed to be the most influential to American colonist at the time
period of America's reconstruction. Yes Rousseau, Hobbes, and Locke were all influential people,
however, they didn't have quite as much of an influence as Montesquieu.
In America today, our government is solely based off of the fundamental idea of separation of
powers. As a whole, we believe that idea is the optimal way to run any government system, thus
why we have a executive branch who carries out federal laws and recommends new ones, directs
national defense and foreign policy, and performs ceremonial duties , a legislative branch, which is

He had the same mindset of most colonist at the time and knows oppression is bound to happen
when they aren't separate. He makes the claim that when all powers are held by one, " there is no
liberty" and " there can be no liberty, because apprehensions may arise, lest the same monarch or
senate should enact tyrannical laws, to execute them in tyrannical manner" (Excerpt from " Spirit of
the laws"). A police officer would be able to create oppressive laws, Approve them , Arrest you
based off of his oppressive laws and the finally deem you guilty in the sense if all powers were to be
held by one central power. Montesquieu understood that under a dictatorship, that's how things
would be ran. He would rather have a separate person to make laws, then approve, someone to
enforce them , and someone to judge how well the enforcement was done. Colonist also believed he
ideals were best suited to have a successful state, hence the reason we have those fundamental ideas

The Enlightenment Thinkers
The Enlightenment was the philosophical phenomenon of the eighteen century, which in spite of its
declaration of independence from the thinking of the past, it comprised a great group of talented
thinkers who indeed recognized the great debt owed to all their intellectual predecessors, such as
Newton, Bacon, and John Locke, just to mention a few. The essence of its classic concerns were the
dangers of arbitrary and unchecked authority, the value of religious toleration, and the overriding
relevance of law, reason, and human dignity in all social affairs in their modern society. The
Enlightenment writings shared several basic characteristics that are marked by a confidence in the
power of human reasoning as an intrinsic self–assurance stemmed ... Show more content on

whatever anti–semitism Voltaire may have felt derived from negative personal experience. He was
relentlessly anti–Biblical but not anti–Semitic. His remarks on the Jews and their superstitions were
essentially no different from his remarks on Christians or Muslims to the effect. Voltaire did not
limit his attack to aspects of Judaism that Christianity used as a foundation, repeatedly making it
clear that he despised Jews in general. Some authors link Voltaire's anti–Judaism to his polygenism.

Improvements As A Writer And Thinker
Improvements as a Writer and Thinker Reflecting as a writer and thinker I have noticed tremendous
improvements in my work. My whole thought process and way of viewing topics has changed,
giving me a better understanding when I write. In the beginning of the term I ran into many
problems in College Writing I for instance, I was not too familiar with writing in MLA format and
struggled reaching the page count. I found myself to procrastinate when papers were assigned
making my anxiety levels increase. Despite my struggles as a writer and thinker, I learned how to
overcome these obstacles. I learned to be open minded and looking at topics from another
perspective. In the beginning of the term I was assigned an essay that described me as a writer and
thinker. With this essay being my first assignment, I was quite stressed with the feeling of failure.
After this assignment I learned the importance of the drafting system. After my paper was graded I
received it back and noticed multiple mistakes. This was the first step I practiced improving. Writing
multiple drafts helped me analysis the material I wrote from another point of view. For example, I
was able to eliminate sections that were unrelated from the main point. Building my vocabulary up
another step I had focus as a writer and thinker. I used a combination between the dictionary and
thesaurus to help me increase my vocabulary. Overtime with experience, I saw improvements in all
of these categories that I was struggling

cultural backgrounds, who meet about culture, church, and corporate and individual spiritual

A healthy atmosphere in a church should be one of safety, freedom, non–judgment, peace, joy and
trust. Church should feel like walking into your home and feeling free to be yourself and freely able

4. What is the problem with "sin–management theology"?
Sin–management theology leads us to believe that we must earn God's love and grace through our
works and actions, which contradicts the whole purpose of Jesus coming to the earth. Those living
under the law showed that man could never earn God's love and grace through works because of
man's fallen nature. Therefore, it causes humanity to live in a broken state that results in hiding and
disregards the righteousness given to us by God.

The Thinker By Dantes Inferno
One of the most well–known sculptures in the world, A French Sculptor, Auguste–Rene Rodin
created The Thinker (Also known as the thinking man) and was first seen completed of the year
1904. In France, the thinker was originally named The Poet, respectively Le Poète in French.
Auguste started creating the artwork for a doorway, named "The Gates of Hell". Rodin created the
piece based off of "The Inferno", a section of the Divine Comedy.
Dante Alighieri wrote his first section of the Epic to describe a soul to the journey onwards to
Heaven. It starts with Dante in Hell, as he endures suffering and punishment, while being guided by
a poet named Virgil. The Gates of Hell summarize the first third of the Divine Comedy effectively.
This doorway includes The Thinker, who seems to be looking down on Hell or Inferno.
Many infer what the meaning of the Thinker could be the Actual character Dante in the poem,
observing Hell as he does. He also could be portrayed as the Writer looking down at his poem and
his scene. Just by observing this you can tell that the pose has consideration, doubt, but overall
literally looking down on, avoiding hell, a sign of repentance of sin. This is just the backstory of the
figure. In reality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

working at a place that everybody has everything worked out. That is not even close in my

things go. I had a time when I was working with young people in a competition to get scholarships
within the church. The competition is very hard and very physical. Being reasonable help me keep
my cool when my superiors would walk into my practices and ask me to do things that were not safe
or physically impossible for the kids that I had. I knew that I could ask these kids to do that. I was
not going to compromise their health because they wanted to win a competition.

Amendment 2 said that a regulated militia gives the people security to bear arms and this right may

Auguste Rodin The Thinker Summary
"The Thinker" by Auguste Robin is set to represent the Human man. It's very positioning symbolizes
the very embodiment of a simple thought. In his lifetime, Rodin made at least 10 castings of "The
Thinker". However, that number has grown to over 21. You can find them all over the world, from
the Rodin Museum in Paris to the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, Calif., to the Rodin Museum
at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Many of the bronze copies, as well as the original plasters for
this piece, have been displayed in a central position so that visitors can see it from every conceivable
angle. A marvel of the creative world. The style which Auguste Rodin developed throughout his
professional life can in part be attributed to his artistic education or the lack of it in any formal
capacity. "The Thinker" by Auguste Rodin is set to represent the Human man.
Rodin's choice to make his Thinking Man nude to follow in the style of the heroic nudes of
Michelangelo and his Renaissance style of Sculpting. Also, Auguste Rodin created "The Thinker" in
a way that mirrors the heroes of Michelangelo. The nude figure is muscular, taunt, and valiant. This

Critical Thinker
Last weekend, while I was talking to our children, they said that they wanted to become
independent. In replying, I said, "we want you to be independent, and that is what we expect you to
be when you grow up." What does it means working independently? It has a broader meaning, and it
requires hard work, but many youngsters who want to become independent do not have a clear idea
about it. They simply follow others.
Think independently
First, we need to understand who is an independent thinker and how he differs from others.
Independent thinkers have a critical view about the world. They are not ready to accept others
opinions as the ultimate truth, and they analyses issues in depth. Example of a critical thinker was
Lord Buddha, who refused to accept the teachings of his masters after critically analyzed their
teaching. Also, independent thinkers are not afraid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many cultures, parents expect unconditional obedience from children, imposing their beliefs on
them. In school, teaches expect students to be discipline and follow instructions to the word,
discouraging critical thinking, which is a prerequisite to become and independent thinker. Almost all
the religions in the world expect their followers to adhere to their teaching blindly, and consider
those who question them as enemies. Consequently, the independent thinkers wage a war with
established believe and practices.
Therefore, in order the nurture in a challenging society, independent thinkers need to gain certain
qualities to face challenges. One of the quality is the self–confidence. When a person lack
confidence in himself, the qualm creep into their minds, which restrict his ability to think

thinking about any subject, content, or problem in which the thinker imposes intellectual standards
upon them. What this means is that you raise questions upon that subject in which you ask relevant
questions that will effectively evaluate the solution upon the complex problem. I have also
determined that people who think critically consistently attempt to live reasonable lives due to their
strive to improve the world in any way they can. Also Critical Thinkers do not have a destination to

Quick Thinker
I am a quick thinker, as shown by my stage performances and comedic attitude. It doesn't matter
where I am, or who I am with, I always try to act fast and be funny. While telling a story, beef up the
details or responses of characters. This is just to get a quick laugh, without even thinking about it
beforehand. These characteristics play a big role in me and how I act, on the stage and in my life. I
can improvise, and improvising is fast acting. They might be in a play, shooting a movie, or even in
an interview, and need to fix a mistake. I was taught how to do this and practiced many times in
middle school, and I can reflect it on my life afterwards as well. And with my experience as an
actor, I can take advantage of this in real life. In seventh grade, I was cast as a main character in the
school's play, which required a good amount of time on stage (and missing time to do homework).
During a dress rehearsal, I got too caught up in talking to people. It was then that I realized that I

influential thinkers of the enlightenment were Mary Wollstonecraft, John Locke, and Thomas
Jefferson. Mary Wollstonecraft had a strong belief in equal rights for woman, John Locke shared his
ideas about individual rights, and Thomas Jefferson spread his ideas about intellectual ... Show more

He firmly supported and fought for the idea of separation of power and almost a detachment of
government. Locke felt that the king's power should be limited by laws and follow a constitutional
monarchy. He pursued that the government should protect the rights of life, liberty, and estate. In
other words, he emphasized that the government remained by the the consent of the people in order
to defend the very rights of the people and not defened just the government itself. In this system, he
believed that the public good would be promoted.
Lastly, Thomas Jefferson contributed many ideas to the enlightenment, such as the ideas of religious
freedom, social freedom, and intellectual freedom. Jefferson was born in 1743 in Virginia, and the
oldest of 8 children. He started to become independent at a young age because his father died when
he was 14 years old. Jefferson had many beliefs, such as that the majority of the people can make a
right choice when given a chance. He also felt that everyone should have the right to an education.
Not to mention that his opinions had a greater impact than most because he was the 3rd president of
the United States of America, meaning his voice got heard more than other individuals. Jefferson's
claims of intellectual freedom greatly impacted the enlightenment because this is the idea and right

The Radical Groups Of Thinkers
Throughout the recent centuries, biologists, psychologist, and sociologists have been franticly
researching a single question, which if solved, can help us decode our every behavior and decision.
Why exactly are we the people we are today? This question has sparked many passionate debates,
one of them being; Nature (Genetics, biological traits,) versus Nurture (Environmental effects,
learning behavior). There are two radical groups of thinkers in which strictly oppose each other,
Nativists and Empiricist and with a common interest in mind, their perspective of how a being
develops behaviorally and cognitively differ drastically with very few to none similarities. This
theory provides the most insight to the mystery that is ourselves. ... Show more content on

On the other hand, we have not the slightest proof that behavioral traits are passed down through
genetics, which leads us to believe that our next best answer would consist of environmental stimuli
influencing our development of the mind. An example of an environmental stimuli would be social
interaction, in which we all show signs of change from our fetal stages to the day we die. During
this time span of time we form our own unique individuality and behavior. There are many different
perspectives of psychology in which psychologists try to explain the reasoning behind humanistic
behavior and thinking. There are two extremist groups of psychologists that strictly oppose each
other when it comes to the Nature vs. Nurture theory. Nativists, psychologists who adopt strong
hereditary reasoning or Nature theory, believe humans are a product of evolution and our inner and
external traits as well as our behavior are due to our very complex genetic form. The Nativists
believe our individuality is a result of the mixed genetic code, which we get from both of our
parents. This code is solely different from any other being in the world. Nativists strongly believe
every reaction we have and behavior we exhibit is part of our genetic code, which still remains a
mystery today. These thoughts are so radical that after decades of research and experimentation, it is
still strongly believed that our genetic code is the proper

Critical Thinkers
The intellectual purpose of education is "to develop knowledgeable and informed critical thinkers"
(POE). The information presented will build the cognitive foundations for the students to work with.
To develop as critical thinkers, students need to be shown how to take the 'literacy and numeracy'
information presented and use it to perform higher order thinking. Higher order thinking includes,
but is not limited to: divergent thinking, problem–solving, decision–making, and synthesis. In
addition to this knowledge, students need help to develop the skills (knows how) and dispositions
(such as enthusiasm and promptness) needed to help them be successful throughout life.
Additionally, students need to be empowered "to be informed and active ... Show more content on

Being A Critical Thinker
Critical Thinking is becoming more understanding to me. I have always been an open minded
thinker, whenever it came to looking at different point of views on whatever is in front of me .My
mom always told me that I challenged everything she gave me to do, or told me to do. She told me I
was very stubborn. If I asked a question and she gave me a answer, I would always question her
why! I never knew it was a trait of, what I know now as being a Critical Thinker. Looking at Fair–
Minded Thinkers, I possess the quality of having courage. The Courage to question what I was
taught growing up, to seek truth and logic in beliefs and everything I knew at this point in my life. I
was always taught that Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Not saying I don't believe in god, but I
questioned that after reading about Egyptian history. After about 6 months of reading and research I

The Vanquished Auguste Rodin Essay
Auguste Rodin was born in Paris in on November 12, 1840. He was born into a poor family and his
father was a policeman. Although he was a talented artist as a teenager, he lacked encouragement
which made him choose a different career. Rodin worked as a bricklayer for 20 years. Then he went
to Italy and during his stay he found inspiration there. On his return to Paris, he sculpted his first
major piece, "The Age of Bronze", originally named "The Vanquished". Rodin said that, "Much as I
love the Greeks, there is one thing I love more and that is nature." (AMA 130). This is very true of
his sculptures. Although there is the presence of a body you can see the true nature of emotion
through it.
School was hard for Rodin because he had a hard time reading, but he took interest in drawing. He
started taking art classes when he turned 13. This is when students and teachers gave him no
recognition on his art and Rodin started doubting himself. At 17 years old, he applied ... Show more

Italy is known for the deep art history with artists like Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael to
name just a few. Rodin was inspired so much by these artists that he made his first major piece, "The
Vanquished". It was made in 1876 and stands at six feet tall, making it a life size sculpture of a nude
man. This sculpture showed his attention to such detail that when people came to see this sculpture
they did not like how real it looked. People rumored that it was a fake sculpture. In the 1800's art
had to be made for a reason and it had to have a theme. It does not represent most art from that time
that had to with mythology. With its lack of "purpose" critics did not see "The Vanquished" as real
art. All of the criticisms made him change the name to "The Age of Bronze". This also led to
changing his style from something realistic to more naturalistic abstracted ideas. To do this he
stopped being detailed and showed the inner turmoil's of human emotion through their

The Academy of Diverse Thinkers. The overall success rate of the Academy has decreased
extensively, and an investigation as to the possible reasons has led to a discovery that
communications and working relationships are not at the level they once were. As reported by
Menashe (2016) in Abu Dhabi, Halawah (2005) studied the impact of the principal and his
leadership style had on the learning environment and school climate of high schools and their
students. The results showed direct correlation between the climate of the learning environment and

I–USC will return during the school year for the length of the entire implementation plan and
continue to monitor and adjust development as needed for all stakeholders including parents.
Starting this plan during the scheduled professional development days in August 2016, we will be
celebrating greater student success and a very harmonious school environment at The Academy of
Diverse Thinkers.
Future Research
Progress monitoring will occur during the course work, as well as individual surveys tracking each
leader's opinions of both the delivery method and the training itself. After the course work is
completed, anonymous surveys will be used to explore the efficacy of the development. Further
professional development will be created as the changes in our society's methods and skills in
communication evolve. It should be noted that due to the differences and variety of human learning
styles, multiple modalities must be used from this point forward in regards to any training,
communication, or dissemination of information.
Conclusion
The comprehensive communications enhancement program will cost the entirety of the budget
already set aside for professional development, however the return on investment will be multi–
faceted and priceless: (1) the learning environment will improve greatly along with, (2) student
success, (3) re–enrollment, and (4) teacher

Famous Thinkers Essay
When looking at history and try to discover famous thinkers in our society, many men and women
stand out. Famous thinkers are people who used critical thinking and perseverance to overcome
adversity to succeed. The two that stand out in my mind are Bill Gates and Dr. Martin Luther King
Jr. Lets discuss their contributions to society as a whole, the problems or issues that they resolved,
and how they were able to come up with their solutions.
Contributions to Society
Self made multi–billionaire, entrepreneur and philanthropist Bill Gates was born in Seattle,

prescient pronouncements about the nature of capitalism and communism, a quarter of a century
before the demise of the Soviet Union. Dr Martin, L. K.,Jr. (1992, Jan 20).
Personal Environments
Bill Gates first took an interest in computer programming when he was 13 years old, while attending
school. The school used funds from sales and donations and was able to purchase the students an
ASR–33 Teletype terminal and computer time on a General Electric computer terminal. Bill,
instantly intrigued, was able to get excused from his regular classes to work with the computer. Bill,
then, gained his interest in computer programming. He was able to develop a program where the
students could play the computer in a game of tic–tac–toe. This was the beginning of Bill Gates
career (Bill Gates, 2011).
Bill Gates mother, Mary had devoted most of her time working with charities and civil affairs
organizations, the most popular name being United Way. She would bring Bill with her on many
volunteer missions. Bill Gates would grow up to follow her example, only he would have the money
to donate and even create his own organizations and foundations (Bill Gates, 2011).

power of prayer even through the countless number of threats he received and even arrested he stood

all people. During these historical moments one could only imagine that the most important

I have selected the fifth part which is called "The Thinker". From this part, I have selected two clips
that I will be observing and analysing. The first clip I am observing is about Iyeki who is around
about the age of 6 months and this took place in the mall with his father. The second clip I am
observing is about Taffy who is around about the age of 1 year and she is in her room, placed in her
cot. Observation As mentioned before Iyeki is 6 months of age. Him and his dad are in the mall,
Iyeki is in a pushchair. When Iyeki 's father approaches the bench, he lets Iyeki out of his pushchair
and places him on the floor. As the mall is empty, he starts to crawl around. Iyeki starts to crawl
away from the dad while he sits on the bench and reads his newspaper. Iyeki crawls further away
from his dad, once he reaches a point, he turns around and looks at his dad. Further and further Iyeki
crawls in every direction, he sits and looks back at his father. Iyeki shouts at "Da Da!" and crawls
closer to him. Once Iyeki is closer to his father, he then stops, sits and looks at his father. He then
crawls faster towards his dad but instead he crawls past the bench and sits on the floor for a while.
Iyeki then turns right and crawls past his dad. Iyeki then crawls to the point where he is opposite his
dad and as he gets closer to his dad he starts crying and tries to get up on the bench. His dad then
helps him by placing him on all fours again and he starts to crawl away from his dad.

Thinking which the highest mental activity in a human is an action using one's mind to create
thoughts and ideas. It is a discipline in which we carry out our daily activities and make decision
that requires a consciousness of thought. It is also considered as a spiritual activity whereby when
we are rational, we are able to able to think anything we want. Then we can decide what to do and
not to do by exercising our freewill. It can also be "mindless" like when we are daydreaming or
doing routine tasks like combing hair or taking a shower. The quality of our life of what we built
will depend on the quality of our thoughts whereby sometimes when we are not critical thinkers it
can lead to being prejudiced, inaccurate; misleading and biased.

Thinkers of the Enlightenment Essay
Enlightenment
The Enlightenment era was a new intellectual movement that stressed reason and thought and the
power of individuals to solve problems. Even though different philosophers approached their goal
differently, they achieved it none the less. They all approached their goal differently due to their
different upbringings, their different backgrounds, and most importantly their different
environments. A few among the many enlightened thinkers were Thomas Hobbes, John Locke,
Baron Do Montesquieu, and Jean Jacques Rousseau. While some of their idea's are not used in
modern society, they were all instrumental to the modern society we live in today.

Without him we might have strayed to an absolute dictatorship the likes of which was suggested by
Thomas Hobbes.
Enlightenment thinkers challenged authority by speaking their mind to say the very least. They
spoke their mind, instigated riots, and told people to change their own government. The fact that
they preached their mind alone without regard of consequence is enough evidence that they
challenged authority. Although many individuals were persecuted and intimidated into keeping
quiet, they were not scarred by their respective governments and it is for that reason that we enjoy
the fruits of their labor. Had they not endeavored so, and had they trembled in the face of adversity,
we might be living in a country without any centralized government at all.
Despite the fact that there were countless enlightenment thinkers, there are still many identifiable
similarities between various of them. For example Thomas Hobbes and Jean Jacques Rousseau both
believed in the need for a social contract, and in individualism. They both disagreed on how to go
about these things. Thomas Hobbes described an absolute monarchy with limited rights. Jean
Jacques Rousseau on the other hand described an democracy with unalienable rights. These two
thinkers are a perfect example who thought of different ideals, practiced them in different ways, but
nonetheless helped shape the world we live in today.

Canto 3 Of The Inferno Essay
Hell, the fiery eternal abyss has had profound influence on almost every aspect in our modern world.
Paintings and sculpture have been great tools to help us envision the realm of suffering. One of these
great sculptures is called the Gates of Hell, created by Auguste Rodin who was influenced by Dante
Alighieri's, Inferno. In the beginning of Canto 3 of the Inferno, Dante and Virgil are about to walk
through the gates to the underworld. Although the entrance is referred to as an arch in the Inferno
this gave Rodin a blank slate to work with. Auguste Rodin was older when he started this sculpture
and passed away before he could finish. His Gates have about two hundred miniature sculptures
attached all around and on the doors to depict the torments souls were condemned too. A few of
these individual sculptures were recreated on a larger scale because they were controversial
masterpieces such as the Thinker, The Kiss, and the Sinner. Rodin worked on this sculpture as a
commission for a museum but those plans fell through. It didn't stop Rodin from working on the
sculpture for 37 years to see his vision complete. Now, although Rodin's sculpture was to depict hell
and the tormented, I found a different interpretation of the sculpture. I believe rather than being a
depiction of Hell, the Gates of Hell sculpture appears to be a tragic insight of lost love because of
the romance in the sculpture that create scenes of grieving by the Thinker. When the individual
pieces are analyzed

segregation by any means possible, but he believed the best way to promote racial equality was to

the equal right movement. This theory was proven during the protest in Birmingham. Dr. King was

The Modernist period was brought upon by the industrialisation of the 19th century. This changed

Uncritical Thinker
There are three types of thinkers, Uncritical Persons, skilled manipulators and the fair–minded
critical persons. The uncritical persons are the ones that the media thrives on. They are the ones that
are easily influenced in believing what they hear on the news to be true without doing their own
research on what they heard. It is simply true because they read it in the newspaper or saw it on the
news. These individuals want to be presented with a simple–minded, black–and–white world (page

These people are focused shrewdly on pursuing their own interest without respect to how that
pursuit affects others (page 299). Although skilled manipulators share many characteristics of an

They are good at using their power of manipulation to get what they want from people. Skilled
manipulators use their skill to take advantage of others and use it to their benefit. My boss is an
example of a skilled manipulator. He is constantly controlling and influencing others for his own
interests. He knows how to get what he wants no matter the consequences it plays on others. For

Classical Greek Thinkers
Classical Greek thinkers have many outlooks on the world and how it became what it is today. As a
group the Classical Greek thinkers helped provide us with a basis of modern science as well as the
idea of epistemology or the study of knowledge. Their ideas and curiosities allowed for rational or
philosophical outlooks on life. However, the Greeks did not abandon the idea of having a
mythopoeic outlook as well. Ultimately, the philosophical path began with the cosmologists, they
decided to study the universe and cosmos. This idea allowed for the cosmologists to go beyond the

world. One of the well–known Classical Greek thinkers known as the "Father ... Show more content

Critical Thinker Needs

  • 1. Critical Thinker Needs Martin Luther, King Jr once said "The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character that is the goal of true education". This quote is one of the many reasons why I want to attend Carmen High School of Science and Technology. By attending Carmen High school I will be able to become a critical thinker and keep developing my writing, and math skills. I will go more into detail in my next paragraphs. During my search for my high school choices Carmen High school's mission intrigued me because it said that "they want to graduate all students as critical thinkers, and self directed learners". This can help me succeed in my career and in college. By becoming a critical thinker it will help me analyze certain situations where I have to make decisions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I cannot fail because if I fail I could be putting a life of an animal in danger which I do not want. If I go to Carmen I am sure that they will help me prepare myself for when I have to face obstacles. Another reason why I want to attend to your high school is because my brother attended there too. During the time he was there he changed. His teachers never gave up on him and tried to help him. He had even gotten some scholarships and now has graduated from college. This makes me even more sure that I want to attend Carmen. Since the school offers various scholarships that can help me pay for my veterinary career during college. Carmen also offers job internships that will help me gain experience and learn new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Examples Of Enlightenment Thinkers Most of the Enlightenment thinkers such as Sir Isaac Newton, turned to science and did not believe that God was the cause for all of the events happening in the world. This new way of thinking had more people focus on themselves and others instead of turning to God for help. At this time "the mind of the nation was on politics...a forum for the expression of ideas" (The Story of the Times 123). The concept that a need for new ideas had emerged had caused people to self–reflect before coming up with new insight. An Enlightenment thinker named Benjamin Franklin had once tried to make himself a better person by writing an agenda with different moral behaviors. After he had conducted this he had written a piece called The Autobiography explaining ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Change in reasoning is like change in b– ball, in equalization aestheticness, or in playing the saxophone. It is doubtful to happen without a conscious obligation to learn. The length of we take our thinking for in truth, we don't make the vital strides required for advancement. Headway in instinct obliges a consistent procedure obliging levels of learning and by and large tenacious work. It is unfeasible to transform into a stunning researcher essentially in light of the way that one wills it. Changing one's affinities for accepted is a long–range undertaking, happening over years, not weeks or months. The central qualities of a fundamental driving force oblige an enlarged time of headway. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In what way would we have the capacity to help ourselves and our understudies to practice better assuming in conventional life? To begin with, we must grasp that there are stages required for headway as an essential driving force: Stage One: The Unreflective Thinker (we are oblivious to imperative issues in our thinking) Stage Two: The Challenged Thinker (we get the opportunity to be aware of issues in our thinking) Stage Three: The Beginning Thinker (we endeavor to improve yet without standard practice) Stage Four: The Practicing Thinker (we see the need of typical practice) Stage Five: The Advanced Thinker (we impel according to our practice) Stage Six: The Master Thinker (talented & insightful reasoning end up being second nature to us) We become through these stages if we: 1) Recognize the route that there are totally serious issues in our thinking (enduring the test to our thinking) and 2) Begin predictable ... • 7. The Stages Of An Unreflective Thinker Critical thinking is being able to evaluate an issue or situation to form a judgment. Having the ability to think clearly and rationally, being able to have an argument and understand the main concept and question any doubts you have and making your own conclusion. Being a good critical thinker can help you in a lot of ways professionally and personally. Employers often want to see someone that can think rationally and that is able to make their business grow and develop they want someone that will take initiative in crucial situations. In our personal lives, it is important so we learn how to distinguish the main facts about an argument and learn to analyze the problem and make a conclusion of what needs to be done to help solve and prevent any future problems. According to Linda Elder and Richard Paul, there are six stages of a critical thinker the unreflective thinker, the challenged thinker, the beginning thinker, the advanced thinker, and finally the accomplished thinker which is where we would all want to be in. (The Critical Thinking Community , 2010) Stage one the unreflective thinker is simply someone that is unaware of what role thinking is playing in their lives. I think we are all born as an unreflective thinker and some people don't know the useful conception of what thinking really is and they don't develop better–thinking skills and end up dying the same way. Being an unreflective thinker means that you know you have a problem but don't take the time or don't ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Scientific Thinker A scientific thinker is someone who makes meaningful connections between chemistry and everyday life, collaborates with other scientists regularly, asks questions to deepen their understanding, supports their claims with evidence, and has advanced knowledge of scientific language. In order to be a scientific thinker, one must have a deep appreciation of all scientific studies and understand each thoroughly. My first piece of evidence is my H₂ O₂ Rockets Lab. In this lab, I, along with 2 other group members, was assigned to find the perfect ratio of Hydrogen to Oxygen to create the most powerful explosion. With the combined collaboration of all the members of my group we were able to find the perfect ratio. As a group, we were able to accomplish ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the main ideas of being a scientific thinker is being able to connect chemistry to everyday life and nothing has done that better for me than this worksheet. I believe that this worksheet is so vital in everyday life not only because it could potentially save my life, but it helps me to establish my own opinions on nuclear energy. The topic of nuclear energy has been very controversial in our country and I honestly had been slightly opposed to it because I lacked the knowledge that I have now. I had always thought of nuclear reactors to being these big, harmful things that did more harm than good, but my opinion shifted after watching the few documentaries in our class and completing this worksheet. It turns out that nuclear energy is one of the safest forms of energy and the science behind it proves it. Many of the opposers make false claims and try to scare those who don't know otherwise. With this worksheet, I know how much radiation is dangerous, and I also know how much radiation I am exposed to every day just from being outside. This worksheet helped me to establish my firm opinion that nuclear energy is good, and I believe that this is the best connection I have made between chemistry and everyday ... Reaching goals can be done in many ways. The similarity famous thinkers is that they are all share creative minds and are all creative thinkers. Creative ideas are the foundation of creative process (Goodman & Fritchie, 2011). Famous thinkers base their ideas on searching for solutions to problem, need, or the way others think or view specific issues. When I think of famous thinkers a vast number of people come to mind. If you were to look up the definition of visual thinking, the first thing that would pop up as an answer is; refers to a group of generative skills that, when practiced with rigorous discipline, results in the production of novel and original ideas. By seeking to discover visual forms that fit his/her underlying human experience, the student of visual thinking comes to know the world. Those last two sentences were pretty confusing, so in order to help understand it more i kept looking for something easier; to receive more of a view on visual thinking . It was already clear that a visual thinker thinks in pictures, but needing something more descriptive, I continued to find articles and the quotes within them. What i found is interpreted thought out this essay. Visual and verbal thinkers use different ways of remembering things; they are different in their own mind. Visual and verbal thinkers are different in several ways; the way they process information, the way that they can respond differently to different types of action and the way they think can also vary among the hemisphere of the brain you work toward. "While the basic steps that are used to process information are consistent, the skills, goals, prior knowledge, and strategies used in information processing can vary greatly among individuals. Yes Rousseau, Hobbes, and Locke were all influential people, however, they didn't have quite as much of an influence as Montesquieu. In America today, our government is solely based off of the fundamental idea of separation of powers. As a whole, we believe that idea is the optimal way to run any government system, thus why we have a executive branch who carries out federal laws and recommends new ones, directs national defense and foreign policy, and performs ceremonial duties , a legislative branch, which is Headed by Congress, which includes the House of ... Behind the story there is the scenario the movie shows a lot of touristic places in Paris. For example, the opening scene is beautiful; it is like a sequence of Paris postcards. By studying Woody Allen movies is perceived that he uses clichés to promote a reflection. As Marcos C. P. The camera makes a movement showing the bronze from top to bottom and stops focusing the tourists talking with the guide. The camera movement is the tourist eye they looked fast and in an indifferently way to the cultural objects. After showing the sculpture in a fast movement the camera focused on Paul arguing with the touristic guide about who's were Rodin's wife and who's were the lover. The essence of its classic concerns were the dangers of arbitrary and unchecked authority, the value of religious toleration, and the overriding relevance of law, reason, and human dignity in all social affairs in their modern society. My whole thought process and way of viewing topics has changed, giving me a better understanding when I write. In the beginning of the term I ran into many problems in College Writing I for instance, I was not too familiar with writing in MLA format and struggled reaching the page count. I learned to be open minded and looking at topics from another perspective. In the beginning of the term I was assigned an essay that described me as a writer and thinker. With this essay being my first assignment, I was quite stressed with the feeling of failure. After this assignment I learned the importance of the drafting system. After my paper was graded I received it back and noticed multiple mistakes. This was the first step I practiced improving. Writing multiple drafts helped me analysis the material I wrote from another point of view. For example, I was able to eliminate sections that were unrelated from the main point. Building my vocabulary up another step I had focus as a writer and thinker. I used a combination between the dictionary and thesaurus to help me increase my vocabulary. • 61. Analysis Of ' The Thinker ' I have selected the fifth part which is called "The Thinker". From this part, I have selected two clips that I will be observing and analysing. The first clip I am observing is about Iyeki who is around about the age of 6 months and this took place in the mall with his father. The second clip I am observing is about Taffy who is around about the age of 1 year and she is in her room, placed in her cot. Observation As mentioned before Iyeki is 6 months of age. Him and his dad are in the mall, Iyeki is in a pushchair. When Iyeki 's father approaches the bench, he lets Iyeki out of his pushchair and places him on the floor. As the mall is empty, he starts to crawl around. Iyeki starts to crawl away from the dad while he sits on the bench and reads his newspaper. Iyeki crawls further away from his dad, once he reaches a point, he turns around and looks at his dad. Further and further Iyeki crawls in every direction, he sits and looks back at his father. Iyeki shouts at "Da Da!" and crawls closer to him. Once Iyeki is closer to his father, he then stops, sits and looks at his father. He then crawls faster towards his dad but instead he crawls past the bench and sits on the floor for a while. Iyeki then turns right and crawls past his dad. Iyeki then crawls to the point where he is opposite his dad and as he gets closer to his dad he starts crying and tries to get up on the bench. His dad then helps him by placing him on all fours again and he starts to crawl away from his dad. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 63. Critical Thinkers Thinking which the highest mental activity in a human is an action using one's mind to create thoughts and ideas. It is a discipline in which we carry out our daily activities and make decision that requires a consciousness of thought. It is also considered as a spiritual activity whereby when we are rational, we are able to able to think anything we want. Then we can decide what to do and not to do by exercising our freewill. It can also be "mindless" like when we are daydreaming or doing routine tasks like combing hair or taking a shower. The quality of our life of what we built will depend on the quality of our thoughts whereby sometimes when we are not critical thinkers it can lead to being prejudiced, inaccurate; misleading and biased. ... • 65. Thinkers of the Enlightenment Essay Enlightenment The Enlightenment era was a new intellectual movement that stressed reason and thought and the power of individuals to solve problems. Even though different philosophers approached their goal differently, they achieved it none the less. They all approached their goal differently due to their different upbringings, their different backgrounds, and most importantly their different environments. A few among the many enlightened thinkers were Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, Baron Do Montesquieu, and Jean Jacques Rousseau. While some of their idea's are not used in modern society, they were all instrumental to the modern society we live in today. More then anyone else Baron do Montesquieu helped shape this country today. Baron ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without him we might have strayed to an absolute dictatorship the likes of which was suggested by Thomas Hobbes. Enlightenment thinkers challenged authority by speaking their mind to say the very least. They spoke their mind, instigated riots, and told people to change their own government. The fact that they preached their mind alone without regard of consequence is enough evidence that they challenged authority. Although many individuals were persecuted and intimidated into keeping quiet, they were not scarred by their respective governments and it is for that reason that we enjoy the fruits of their labor. Had they not endeavored so, and had they trembled in the face of adversity, we might be living in a country without any centralized government at all. Despite the fact that there were countless enlightenment thinkers, there are still many identifiable similarities between various of them. For example Thomas Hobbes and Jean Jacques Rousseau both believed in the need for a social contract, and in individualism. They both disagreed on how to go about these things. Thomas Hobbes described an absolute monarchy with limited rights. Jean Jacques Rousseau on the other hand described an democracy with unalienable rights. These two thinkers are a perfect example who thought of different ideals, practiced them in different ways, but nonetheless helped shape the world we live in today. Many people ... • 67. • 69. Canto 3 Of The Inferno Essay Hell, the fiery eternal abyss has had profound influence on almost every aspect in our modern world. Paintings and sculpture have been great tools to help us envision the realm of suffering. One of these great sculptures is called the Gates of Hell, created by Auguste Rodin who was influenced by Dante Alighieri's, Inferno. In the beginning of Canto 3 of the Inferno, Dante and Virgil are about to walk through the gates to the underworld. Although the entrance is referred to as an arch in the Inferno this gave Rodin a blank slate to work with. Auguste Rodin was older when he started this sculpture and passed away before he could finish. His Gates have about two hundred miniature sculptures attached all around and on the doors to depict the torments souls were condemned too. A few of these individual sculptures were recreated on a larger scale because they were controversial masterpieces such as the Thinker, The Kiss, and the Sinner. Rodin worked on this sculpture as a commission for a museum but those plans fell through. It didn't stop Rodin from working on the sculpture for 37 years to see his vision complete. Now, although Rodin's sculpture was to depict hell and the tormented, I found a different interpretation of the sculpture. I believe rather than being a depiction of Hell, the Gates of Hell sculpture appears to be a tragic insight of lost love because of the romance in the sculpture that create scenes of grieving by the Thinker. When the individual pieces are analyzed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After researching these two famous thinkers and their contributions to society I will identify the problems each wanted to solve, the solutions to the problems and the implementation of those solutions. The exploration of each thinker's social, political, and personal environments will show how those factors contributed to their respective creativity, a full comparison of their creative processes, a critique of their thoughts and ideas and the different ... He was surprised that he could sit or eat wherever he wanted, unlike in the south. In 1953, he moved to Alabama and began his ministry at the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church. During this time segregation was at its height, and he was in a position to speak out for equal rights. Many people were advocating ending segregation by any means possible, but he believed the best way to promote racial equality was to organize peaceful nonviolent protest. He thought the use of violence would only hinder the efforts of the equal right movement. This theory was proven during the protest in Birmingham. Dr. King was arrested for leading a nonviolent protest. The Birmingham police were dispatched for crowd control and used violent force against the protestors. Despite the violence the protesters did not retaliate. This event was also influential in achieving racial equality in the United States. Dr. King was born into a household deep rooted into the southern black ministry, particularly the southern Baptist. While going to college to receive his education in ministry, Dr. King made a decision to follow in the actions of his teacher and the college president, Mr. Benjamin Mays. • 75. Uncritical Thinker There are three types of thinkers, Uncritical Persons, skilled manipulators and the fair–minded critical persons. The uncritical persons are the ones that the media thrives on. They are the ones that are easily influenced in believing what they hear on the news to be true without doing their own research on what they heard. It is simply true because they read it in the newspaper or saw it on the news. These individuals want to be presented with a simple–minded, black–and–white world (page 299). A person that I can relate to as an uncritical thinker would be boyfriend's mother. She is a difficult person to reason with. She believes in what she hears to be true without actually knowing the facts. She does not search for the truth or care too. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These people are focused shrewdly on pursuing their own interest without respect to how that pursuit affects others (page 299). Although skilled manipulators share many characteristics of an uncritical thinker, they have qualities that separate them from the uncritical persons (page 300). They are good at using their power of manipulation to get what they want from people. Skilled manipulators use their skill to take advantage of others and use it to their benefit. My boss is an example of a skilled manipulator. He is constantly controlling and influencing others for his own interests. He knows how to get what he wants no matter the consequences it plays on others. For example, he will tell employee's things they want to hear in order to get them to work longer hours, yet he never follows through with those promises. He actually convinced a guy one night that missing his daughter's softball tournament would benefit him in the long run within the company and so he missed it all because he believed it would get him a promotion. As a group the Classical Greek thinkers helped provide us with a basis of modern science as well as the idea of epistemology or the study of knowledge. Their ideas and curiosities allowed for rational or philosophical outlooks on life. However, the Greeks did not abandon the idea of having a mythopoeic outlook as well. Ultimately, the philosophical path began with the cosmologists, they decided to study the universe and cosmos. This idea allowed for the cosmologists to go beyond the chaos of the world and discovered patterns and explanations as to why certain events occur in the world.
